So I had my plastics consult.. My surgeon said that she's had really good luck with insurances paying for most of the plastics.. We are trying for a 360 lift, I have good reason, cause I get rashes in the back where I sweat a lot (TMI, but butt crack area ). She also believes I don't need much in way of a breast lift, just removal of some skin to tighten them up. She also thinks I don't need arms redone, but a little lipo she says will tighten my arm, and then I'm hoping for a little neck lift as well.. I'm so excited!

Okay ladies, I'm just over 5 weeks post op gastric sleeve, including my pre op diet I've lost 20kgs or 44lbs. However I've noticed that every time I get my period my weight loss stalls for the whole 6 days. I'm not super worried about it but just wanted to see if this happens to anyone else?? Hello again, I'm sorry I have posted so much.....but wanted to know if anyone else has had experience with this....I started full liquids today so I had 2 premier protein shakes, water, and 1/2 cup of tomato soup...I have also started having diarrhea today. Does anyone know what could be going on? Thank you!

Extended-Mini Thigh Lift & Belt Lift 7/11/16
amazon replied to amazon's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
@esskay I'm more than happy to talk about it Hopefully folks don't think this is TMI or gross ...but this is my view of my thighs this morning... I'll get pics of the others areas once I'm "up" a bit more. It will probably be more meaningful if they're unwrapped, too. But you can at least see how you start off. I'm leaving the hospital shortly. Yay! Ps...I have no idea why my images are showing twice. -
Hi all - I have BCBS-MA. I looked into their bariatric surgery coverage, and I meet all criteria except I have a question about 1 in particular. It says I need to have documented morbid obesity for 5 years. From my research, that is a BMI of 40 w/ no co-morbidities or 35 with co-morbidities. I have the ability to look at my own medical records at work so I looked into myself. So the past 5 years my BMI was the following: Jan 2010 = 39.0 Oct 2011 = 39.2 Oct 2012 = 42.0 Oct 2013 = 38.6 Nov 2014 = 38.4 2015 = not sure why I didn't have an appointment here, so no weight recorded Jan 2016 = 41.4 This year, I've tried dieting since January when my last weigh-in was, and now my BMI is exactly 40. I'm nervous because for most of those visits with my PCP, my BMI is under 40. I have no co-morbidities (that qualify - I have hx of depression and insomnia, that's about it). BUT, I was dieting through most of these years. As you can see, it was down, then up, then down, now up again. I'm scared that my insurance won't approve me. I haven't yet had my initial consult, but I am highly interested in gastric sleeve surgery and I just know that there is no way I can lose the weight on my own. I know I will forever swing from BMI of high 30s to low 40s, it's never-ending. I've literally been calorie-counting almost nonstop since 2012. My appointment isn't until late August and I'm doing so much research on this that I'm giving myself anxiety lol. Anyone else have similar situaiton? Sorry for TMI, maybe this should have gone into the Emotional Health section lol.

Never have I ever been too happy to start my period!
AmberMc03 replied to curlgirl's topic in The Lounge
Wow.... That's a lot. I was terrified that my period would start during surgery or my stay in the hospital! It did not but BOOM 2nd night at home it starts. I'm afraid to use my normal go to - tampons so I'm in heavy duty pads and I'm miserable. I have fibroids and very heavy flow so this is really not fun for me. I hope things improve for you. Sorry for the TMI I've been dying to tell someone. Lol -
CALLING ALL JULY 2016 SLEEVERS
tlyons72 replied to Tresa Embil's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So...I'm sitting here at work keeping myself entertained/busy. One thought keeps returning ... and I'm a little embarrassed to admit it but since I'm not really doing anything anyway, I shall. After the surgery, my boobs are going to shrink. Yes, this is actually the single thought occupying my mind at present. TMI? Probably. You see, when I was younger and quite a few pounds lighter, they were fine. They were a good size for my frame. Then I had children, 4 to be exact. I nursed all of them. Mothers out there will understand what I'm saying. My once exquisite mammaries were reduced to old, stretched out gym socks. Gaining weight, though biting the big one, did give me one benefit....a nice pair of knockers again. Now, before you go crazy understand that I have no intention of backing out of the surgery just so the "girls" can look nice. That's just insanity. I will miss them though. Maybe I should have a "going away party" for them. -
Hello I am new to this and have really found alot of your post helpful! I was sleeved 6/27. I am suppose to start my pureed foods this Monday. But today i tried a little egg and it was fine and for dinner I tried a little mashpotatos that was also fine but I did fine myself in the restroom a little quicker then normal. (sorry tmi) My question is about my liquid intake. I am wondering how much is normal amount of ounces to be able to intake? I just had a 16oz snocone and 8oz Water immediately after. It took me 2 hrs to finish but it was continuous, I never put it down. Is this normal? Or ok? Sent from my LG-D415 using the BariatricPal App

Caffeine - when if at all can we start to drink coffee again?
lindseyp1019 replied to Mitch1's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm 4 weeks post op and I just started to add coffee this week. I add about 1-2 tablespoons of sugar free coffee creamer to it. I also make sure I drink it only after I've had my Protein shake in the morning and I make sure I drink plenty of Water throughout the day. I've been having some major constipation issues (sorry, tmi!) and coffee has helped thing pass a little better. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Extended-Mini Thigh Lift & Belt Lift 7/11/16
AvaFern replied to amazon's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
@@amazon Good for you! What is an extended mini thigh lift? Lol, I had the mini thigh lift, which is the groin incision one and I thought the extended one was the one that went down to your knee, so have they figured out a way to extend it without going all the way to your knee? Of the plastics that I have had, the thigh lift is probably the one that gave me the least awesome results because I didn't want the scar to go to my knee. In hindsight, I'm still not sure if I made the right choice on having that version done or not, but after almost a year of recovery from three plastics procedures, I am so totally over them for awhile. I also had the back of the 360 done and this with my thigh lift was probably my worst procedure, if mostly because it was the one I ended up having the most annoying complications. The first day I was laying on my couch (which thankfully was covered in those adult puppy pad bed wetting things since I learned from past experience incisions leak) and I got up and it look like someone had been murdered. My entire back incision line was still bleeding. Then the midline separated, leaving my a nice gap in the middle of my back which had to be closed twice, then I got a whopping infection in the middle of scar on one side of my butt, which took 6 months to heal and left me with a hole that literally I could fit most of my hand into. Now it's just a scar and it looks like I got shot in the butt, lol. So, I'm telling you all of this because it was all worth it. I would still get the procedure again even if I knew the disaster it was going to end up being for 6 months. The misery was worth it. Oh and one more thing, have you read up on care for the thigh incisions? The trick to keeping those from getting infected is to keep them clean and dry. You only have to do it for about 2-3 weeks, but everytime I went to the bathroom I cleaned all of the incision line with wipes, a clean wet towel, and then I used a blow dryer on the cold setting on top of that. Truly gross sounding so apologies if that's TMI, but my incisions healed perfectly. Good luck! -
I'm feeling very frustrated and down, not many people understand why either. I started the process for surgery for the third time insurance issues and a move out of state stopped me the other two). I went to my pcp in May and had labs drawn, my hemoglobin was 8. The surgeons office was concerned and said with those numbers I wasn't a good candidate for surgery, I don't disagree. Fast forward to now, his nurse wanted me to get labs redrawn this last week so we could see where I was after taking Iron twice a day. My hemoglobin was 6.3 and I had to have 2 units of blood transfused Thursday. I spoke with the surgeons office Friday, to let them know. I'm still going through with the program, with the understanding it could all be for nothing. If I can't get my level to a 10 and maintain, surgery is out. So, I know my issue. Tmi, I had two cycles that lasted 9 days each 16 days apart (after my first blood draw). I called my pcp the last time, I was worried since I was having symptoms (fatigue, headache, shortness of breath, pale) and she said to just take it easy, being the stubborn person I am, I didn't push harder. All of this to say, I'm worried/scared. I want this surgery more than anything right now, I'm afraid of not being around for my children as they grow and I need this tool to help me. My family doesn't understand, "just eat better and work harder," because that's worked so well in the past. I'm seeing a different Dr. next week to try to get everything sorted out and under control. I just had to get it off my chest where others understood and didn't tell me I was wasting my time. I know now, not to let issues slide. I was in denial and just wanted it all to be ok. Sorry so long. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

oooh to be a little birdie flying over your back yard... Your nesting birds must love you leaving all of your "fur" all over the place for them to pick up and use for nesting materials. What a naturalist you are. I really think that we ladies who haven't seen our "lady bits" in years, would love this extended razor. I know that I still have "lady bits"--down there somewhere, and want to keep from looking like "Gubbaca" whenever I put on my swim suit. To actually be able to reach areas that I have to pick up skin to find (TMI?? ) would be a glorious thing. How's that for your "mental eye"? Sorry....

@@OKCPirate LOL! When I was at my worst with migraine, I had one 27 out of 31 days. I tried sex over and over and although it was fun, it never has helped me. It's a good way for my hubby to never get it. LOL! My migraines are the best they ever have been after losing all this weight too. Some months I will get between 3 and 5 and other months I will have none. I will take those 3-5 knowing I can get rid of them quickly these days. I might also mention that after I lost the first 80lbs I could no longer tolerate the beta blockers as I have very low blood pressure after having high blood pressure for so long. Another benefit of bypass and the diet I follow. I no longer need a preventative, just my DHE to knock it out when it is upon me. I had a brutal one last night and they come on so fast. I know why I got it, I am weaning off of heavy narcotics for all my back surgeries this past year. They had me on so many mind altering drugs to control pain and none of them worked so we started weaning in March and I am finally down to the smallest dose of fentanyl. 2 more weeks and I will be off all that crap that made my headaches worse. I have not had sex in a while though! Damn hubby isn't putting out. TMI, I know but I would be willing to give it a try again! I keep dreaming about it. LOL

I had my surgery on the 13th of June and am just now starting to get my feet back under me. Coming out of surgery was horrible.. ..like a nightmare actually. The pain was intense and not even my pain meds were enough to keep it at bay. That gas they pump you up with is no joke. I spent my first day in the hospital in immense pain and pretty drugged up. I finally got it under control (had terrible spasms and some dizziness from not being able to sleep that have since gone away) but I'm still tired--12 days out--even getting in over 100 ounces of Protein and my required 64 ounces of Water. Hopefully that gets better as I move on to the soft foods phase, which is set to happen on the 28th. The bathroom has also been interesting...and painful. I can't swallow pills so all of my meds needed to be liquid. The stool softener they gave me was in pill form so I didn't take it and talk about a mistake. At my post op checkup, my doctor switched me to a powdered Miralax and I went from nothing happening to can't get to the bathroom fast enough in about two days. TMI, I know, but I'm sure someone else out there might have the same issue, lol. I've managed to drop 7 pounds in 12 days which I'm excited about and I'm not hungry or feeling deprived. I am getting tired of Protein shakes... Those are getting old and chocolate is fast becoming my worst enemy. Anyway, I just wanted to check in here since I can officially count myself as part of the sleeved crowd.

With MGB doctors usually bypass 5"-9" of the intestines. And I was just wondering what will happen if the doctor fixes a much shorter loop like 0.5"-1"??? The reason I'm asking is because I had a MGB at a BMI of only 33.. I had it done only after my doctor convinced me that it's a better option for me than VSG and I trusted him. Now I'm losing weight so fast that at 8 weeks out I'm only 5kgs away from my goal weight. I've consulted another doctor who surprisingly advised a revision to normal RNY!!!! I know a reversal of MGB (getting my stomach back) is an option but I had major bleeding complications following my MGB surgery and I'm thinking maybe just a revision to a shorter loop could be a better option! I'm currently having no problems in eating nor in getting 70 grams of Protein per day. I average around 1000-1200 calories and drink around 50-64 ounces of Water. I take in my Vitamins everyday. Yet I'm still losing so much weight and sorry for tmi but my stools are very greasy! So I assume I'm not absorbing any fat! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
