    Trying on smaller sizes

Shopping in my closet was one of the great NSVs of the first six months! I was wearing a 24w when I had surgery and had some old items in my closet down to a 20. It was empowering to size down when what I was wearing no longer fit me. Now the days of shopping in my closet are over and I have an interim wardrobe.

    NSV alert!!!

Thank you! It's hard to see much change day to day but that NSV was huge yesterday! I found myself more engaged and friendly in class because I wasn't worrying if everyone was staring at the fat girl in class [emoji16] so excited to continue to watch my body change Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. I am a full time student at msu and I had surgery July 25th. Last fall I struggled to fit in the desks. I had such bad anxiety that I'd have to sit in the back of class, get my seat before the other students came in, and would leave after everyone else. My stomach would press against the desk and hurt. Well I started classes again yesterday and guess what? I fit in the desks no problem, sat in the front of the class and had no anxiety. I had enough space to cross my legs under the desk even.[emoji41] just wanted to share this NSV. The scale hasn't moved much the last 2 weeks but this NSV just brightened my week and kept me going [emoji173] below are my pictures. The top ones are from April and the bottom is last week Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Healthier now than EVER!!

https://media.giphy.com/media/26BRv0ThflsHCqDrG/giphy.gif Congratulations! What an excellent update and NSV! I had heart and pulmonary issues pre-WLS also. Not anymore. Healthy is the BEST. Congrats again!
  6. Prior to bariatric surgery, my weight yo-yo-ed between 115 and 300. Much more time around 300 than 115. Before approval for surgery, needed clearance from a cardiologist. Did stress test, but due to severe labile hypertension, had to stop the treadmill and do the medication version. Did a stress test today (5 1/2 years out, maintaining 120 lbs for over 4 1/2 years, daily workouts 7 days a week and still following the dietary guidelines I did from day one) I have a very healthy, athletic heart!!! Despite physical limitations leg braces, etc..., was able to get my heart rate into the target range, it quickly returned to normal, BP went up, then when I was done, it quickly became normal, I was only slightly out of breath during and my heart is no longer enlarged!!! How's THAT for an NSV??!!

FIVE WEEKS POST- OP - IT'S MOVING AGAIN

Congrats on busting your stall and doing so well at 5 weeks post op! Woot!!! Party! Don't you just love moving into a new decade? I always feel like, "Sayonara "old decade," smell ya later! Never!" And sometimes, it feels like forevs before you actually break out and through an existing decade. I thought the 260s were gonna be the death of me! It felt like they took forever. The 250s didn't feel as long, but took exactly the same number of days to break through! Sheesh! I love your NSV (belt moving thing). That feels better than any scale or measuring tape in the world. Right? And holy crap Batman! You walk 1 mile, 5 times a day? me=not worthy!!!! Gattlinburg vaca sounds fun. Do historical and music stuff. Do dancing and romance!! Have a blast!!! ((hugs))

    NSV shout outs

Felt like I had a real NSV this weekend. My size 40 jeans have been way too big on me but have been hesitant to buy new clothes. Mainly because I hate to spend money on something I may only be wearing for a couple of months. Couldn't take it anymore and went shopping this weekend. Grabbed a few pairs of 38s and went off to the changing room. First pair I put on were still way too big. Tried a different pair and same thing. I couldn't believe that 38s were big on me. Went and got some 36s and they fit well. When I started my journey last year (around May 2016) I had gotten up to size 46 again. Still can't get over it.

    NSV- little things matter

AWESOME!!! It really is the small things that keep us going! Many more NSV's to come!
  10. NSV - (non scale victory) for the first time in I can't even remember how many years - I was able to trim my own toe nails, with a regular toe nail trimmer. Sounds silly, but made me feel great. Had been paying the doc to do it.
  11. I haven't been on this site for a long time, but I do plan on changing that. I recently started a blog on my whole WLS journey - I am 5 years out from VSG; lost 152 lbs and have kept it off for over four years now. I wrote a post specific to my NSVs and since it's quite long, rather than copy it here I'll share this link instead. http://wlsnetwork.com/nsvs/ Main Site: http://wlsnetwork.com/ Please feel free to comment here or on my blog and check out the whole blog to learn more. Please feel free to share with others and join our Facebook group, etc. if you like what you see.

JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?

My surgery is coming up, August 30th, but one thing I have learned from a lot of people on here is to celebrate the NSVs (Non-Scale Victories). I am filled with excitement and nerves, but you all seem to be doing pretty well. Thanks for sharing your experiences!!!

    NSV

This evening and one day last week I discovered one of my first nsv's (well besides having to buy all new clothes) I was driving my truck and dropped something on the floor and without even thinking about it was able to reach down and pick it up[emoji16] previously I would Have had to stop the truck take off my seatbelt and shimmied around to reach it. Small (pun intended) but momentous victory almost 70lbs down Hw 325 cw 259 Sw 292 gw 190
  14. ive lost 100 pounds and I was on 100mg daily of Zoloft prior to surgery. I lowered myself to to myself to 50mg daily because I felt do good and because I have recently been told that I look like I'm a whole new person. They specifically state that I look "in love with life" and that I couldnt be more "happily glowing". Honestly its the NSVs that rock your world more than anything and you start finding confidence in the small things. Sent from my LGMP260 using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. I met with my team yesterday and they are very happy with my progess. I'm down 64 lbs. At 8 weeks. Doc said I'm at 35% when most of his patients are at 20% after 8 weeks. His words "you're crushing this"! Its motivating to know I'm doing everything I can to get and keep these results. A few recent NSV's = running 22 min straight, bending over to tie my shoe, glowing skin and overall wellness. To those just starting, its a long journey but will be worth it. Those in the thick of it, keep going. And those who continue to maintain - keep inspiring! Sent from my LG-TP450 using BariatricPal mobile app

You look fabulous! I so cannot wait to start buying colorful pants. I love the coral. I spent so many years buying dark wash jeans and black pants/leggings to make my heavy bottom half less noticeable... colorful pants will be my NSV one of these days!

8/7/2017 – 2 weeks’ post op I still feel great and am up to walking 3–4 miles per day. I may have over did it yesterday because today I don’t feel as good and I have a low-grade fever. It may be BackToWork-Itis because I returned to work today. I was going stir crazy sitting around at home and need to exercise my mind. Ok, there is no delicate way to say this so I’m just going to say it. Puree food sucks! I was looking forward to it after so long on liquids, but this is just gross. I can try all I want to make it taste better, but the texture is just horrible. The good news is that I move to softs soon. I have my two-week follow-up tomorrow morning and I’m praying that my Dr. clears me early. If not, then Thursday is the day. I think that will be a milestone. I miss eating. I’m perfectly fine with the small portions because I’m satisfied after, I just want to eat a piece of fish or shrimp. I want to chew something. Last Tuesday I went to group and the subject of holding on to old clothes came up. The recommendation was to keep one outfit as a reminder and get rid of the rest. That made sense to me because we do not want that old pair of pants hanging around seemingly giving permission to be that size or to gain... you get the point. I took that advice and was so surprised that I only kept some old stuff that hadn’t fit in a while. I’m down like a size and a half already. So off I went to the local Good Will with two contractor bag of clothing that is way too large for me now. That was a really good feeling. While I was there I picked up a few very nice shirts for under $4 each. What a bargain! This will be my go-to store until my weight stabilizes. One of the best things that has happened so far is the NSV I had yesterday. I sat in a chair, leaned down and tied my shoes and could breathe at the same time. That was awesome! I’m still amazed at the amount of energy that I have. I haven’t felt this good in 10 years. I’ll drop a few lines soon… UNT JC

Scared as hell of weight loss

Hi! I'm new to this site and I am still pre surgery. My RNY is scheduled for 9/22. I was a chubby little girl who was constantly told she was fat. As life moved through the years no matter what I tried the weight came back plus. At one point I weighed 299 and I started a plan I was very successful and lost 99 pounds. I just never could break that 100 pound mark. Now three years latter and fast approaching 59 years of age with many health issues have decided to embark on yes a life changing adventure to let out the thin person who has always been trapped inside. I think everyone has times where they become apprehensive about the decision to undertake this process. I agree with the others the core person you are doesn't change. I am talking about your morals, values, way of seeing right and wrong that person will always be there. However, your about to undertake an adventure you've never had. Your going to experience a whole new world of NSV's (non scale victories) i.e. being able to walk into any store and buy whatever you like, being able to tie your shoes without putting your leg up on the couch or bed, no seat belt extenders just to name a few. Embrace the adventure and enjoy the ride. This is how I have come to see all of what is involved. I belong to another Gastric Bypass forum on a site called Daily Strength, if you have the time to visit that site look for a post that is titled what newbie's need to know. I really got quite a bite from that posting. It's long but so worth the read! Good Luck on your journey!

Congrats on the weight loss and soft foods I'm sure this is all good for you from here. Im feeling great weight keeps coming off, clothes keep being changed for smaller ones and lots of NSVs like leg crossing, fitting into airline seats etc ticked off. I struggle with food, I do better when taking the Prilosec that stops me from feeling sick. But eating is a bit of a chore I don't enjoy much. That's kind of frustrating as it makes things difficult. Always having to explain yes the food is great I just can't eat much. That gets me down a bit. But it's a small price to pay.

what is your ht/wt and clothing size?

When I was at my lowest weight, I used to LOVE laying down and feeling my hips and rib bones, lol. Right now, I'm only about 20 lbs heavier than my lowest weight, it's amazing how that 20lbs makes it harder to feel those bones! Looking forward to those NSVs again after my revision.

Back to basics and really doing it!

Hello friends, This past week has been one of breakthrough for me and learning so much about myself. I was asked to share some of my poetry with the Young Adults at my church last Friday and it was the first time that I felt truly confident and happy with who I was. I was happy with the person I was becoming and stepping in being- like really living. My identity was not wrapped around what I looked like, obsessing over a number on the scale or the "I'll be happy when" mindset. I am actually happy. Truly uncovering the depths of my being and who God created me to be has brought me freedom. I am done obsessing over my weight and letting it consume my life and shaping my whole life around if I am losing or not. I want to be healthy, I want to be alive, I want to truly enjoy my reality and I believe I am doing that! I still plan on controlling my weight but I am no longer allowing my weight to control me. This is an NSV for me, big time!
  24. Hello fam, just a Lil update on my life . 7 months post op. I was sleeved Dec 5. I am officially divorced now. I am happy n really enjoying me in this new bod. The surgery wasn't the reason for my divorce ,my husband was a caterer cheater , lol. But the surgery made him feel that now I was a threat in the marriage because I was getting attention . But it was his insecurities n lied that kept him from appreciating the woman he had. So , hell with him, I'm single as a dollar bill now. I am 7 mos post op and down 90 lbs ( 89.7 to be exact). I weigh 153 lbs and I am 5'7. I now wear a size 4 in women's clothing and even fit into size 2 Vera wang dress today, NSV for me. My surgeon set my goal at 150 lbI feel so good about the choice I made to have this surgery and I would do it 10 more time if I had to. Enjoy the pics and good lock to everyone .
  25. Oh I love coming across topics like this. I've been stalled/paused/(whatever you want to call it) for about 6 weeks myself. I finally saw the scale move in the correct direction. I'm stuck between 208 and 210. I have been logging my food and working out more regularly. I also work shift work...I'm currently working 12 hours shifts at night for 2 weeks straight (yes that means I work 14 days without a day off). I personally think my body is in shock right now trying to figure out why I'm eating at weird times and sleeping at weird times. I had 3 weeks off prior to this shift. So I'm telling myself to keep journaling my food and getting what little exercise I can with my schedule and eventually the scale will move. On a NSV note I went to the movies with hubby a couple weeks ago and realized how much more the comfy the seats were. neither thigh/hip were touching the sides of the chair. that was so cool!!!
