It could also just be a sore throat which unfortunately was the first symptom my husband just had with COVID last week. I would get a test.

Hello surgery buddies, for the past 4 weeks when i pee, my peel smells like my protein shakes. I take the fairlife ones. But am drinking my liquids, i dont make it to 64, usually 50 something oz daily. And my nails stopped growing, and now britlle and breaking that it hurts to grab things. My hair loss is better, stopped thinning and got a hair cut last week. I had my RNY Nov 2021 down 107lbs today. Im meeting with my dietician in 2 week in person to shop at the store and read labels properly. Thank you! Sent from my SM-G973U using BariatricPal mobile app

How to stop losing weight and start maintenance
Arabesque replied to Lela Clark's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I experienced the same thing. Was eating less than 900 calories when I reached my goal & struggled for a while to physically eat more at any one time too. I had to snack & increased them until I was snacking 5 times a day. And yes I felt like I was eating all day long. My weight loss continued albeit very slowly & finally about 11 months after goal. I was still seeing my dietician through the first 6 months of this 11 months (Covid hit). For my snacks I added a second sometimes third serve of carbs (multigrain crackers), hummus, nuts, 1or 2 serves of fruit, protein bar, cheese, liverwurst, peanut paste, chia pudding, & used salad dressings. My dietician also suggested adding milk powder to my milk but I found it too sweet except in chia pudding. I eventually reached about 1300 calories. It can take a little time to sort this out in a way the best suits you. While you may lose more initially, you may also have a bounce back in your 2nd/3rd year as @catwoman7 said as you settle into a way of eating that complements how you want to live & enjoy your life. I eventually was able to eat about a recommended portion size of most foods (& I do eat slowly) & reduced my snacks to three a day. I am careful about what I eat 90% of the time. At my lowest I was 48.2kg but settled at 49kg for a good year. I put on 2 kgs a few months ago after I went on a higher dose HRT med & I had to add more protein to my diet due to an absorption issue (from my gall removal last year not my sleeve). I made some small changes to my diet but I still eat more calories as a result of the extra protein so the weight gain is understandable. All the best. -
I had VSG on 5/20/22, so about 9 days out. Iโm in the figuring it out phase and return to work this week. But even with all that - no regrets yet. With pre and post-op, I will have lost 30 lbs in May. HW 266 (May 1), SW 248 (May 20), CW 236 (May 29).

Like @Recidivist, I didnโt ever return to exercising. I walked erratically before surgery & started back again slowly after surgery. But stoped after a couple of months due to low energy & low BP. Didnโt stop me from losing all my weight & more. I still donโt exercise as such but understand some people enjoy it &/or want to establish healthy behaviours. Best to chat with your surgeon. They will likely have their recommendations around how much you should exert yourself, how much you can lift & when you can progress & do more. Most tend to advise walking only for the first couple of weeks but there are always variations on this.

After three years, still no regrets. Sure it can be a bit of a struggle at first. Recovery, the staged return to eating, a fussy tummy, reassessing & changing how & what you eat, etc. arenโt easy. That lasts a couple of months or so which is nothing when you consider all the benefits & the rest of your life. To me, it was all very worth it.

Blah...my first stall...
Arabesque replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What a great video. Thank you for sharing it @acopas. Watching it reminded me to ask if you take body measurements @SleeveDiva2022? Some people notice their physical measurements decrease while in a stall even though the scale doesnโt change. -
Today is my three month anniversary. I can now eat solids! Doing ok, still rare occasional foamies, to avoid it I now watch the second hand on the clock and time each bite. Lost 52 pounds, mostly everywhere but my stubborn tummy. What Iโm looking forward to is being to eat salad. Anyone out there have any problems with lettuce? Iโm a little nervous about it as it seems like it might be hard to digest. Also every time I try something new I get nauseous after the first bite, then after a few minutes it goes away. Then after that if I eat the new thing again it doesnโt happen. Itโs almost like my stomach is deciding if it wants to accept or reject a new food. Any one experience that? Any feedback would be appreciated.

A little over 2 weeks till surgery (6/16). Starting my preop diet Thursday. My program includes no caffeine :(, Sugar, Dairy, or carbs with the final two days being liquid only. As it gets closer the more anxious I get, I have been on a weight loss journey for 10 years and I'm really hoping this will finally be it.

More than three years out, and my only regret is that I didn't do it years earlier.

Hey everyone. My surgery is scheduled for June 2, and Iโm on Day 11 of my 2-week liver shrink diet. Itโs been an enormous challenge, and I did have a slip up yesterday (I ate a breakfast burrito in a moment of weakness), but have otherwise stuck to the diet perfectly. These past 11 days have really put things into perspective, and I canโt help but think about all of the food Iโm not going to be able to eat for such a long time. Iโve been having a lot of thoughts like, โWhy put yourself through this just to be skinny? Youโll be so unhappy if you canโt eat pizza or tater tots or cinnamon rolls.โ I know that I am not going to back out of the surgery, but I hate that Iโm feeling this way. I had a little breakdown this morning and cried - I think I was mourning the end of my messed up relationship with food, as strange as that sounds. It was very therapeutic. Iโm not sure I ever really understood the depth of my food addiction until now. Is anyone else going through anything similar? Or has anyone else? I would love to know Iโm not alone.

It wonโt let me quote the video link but that was very helpful! I think my stall broke more because I changed a few things in my day to day but this is encouraging that it will break regardless! -
How to stop losing weight and start maintenance
Lela Clark posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello. I was sleeved Dec 28, 2021. I have reached my personal weight goal. I had been eating about 800 calories per day. I talked to my nutritionist on Wednesday and she said go to 1200 calories per day. I will say this is really hard. I didnโt realize how hard it would be. It seems all I do is eat and then Iโm trying to get fluids in. It is so uncomfortable. I have never been able to get 64oz. Of fluids. Probably 40oz. My nutritionist is ok with it at this point as it has been such a struggle and hard to get to that point. I weighed myself and down 2 more lbs since Wednesday. I honestly donโt want to lose anymore. Any suggestions and meal plan ideas would be greatly appreciated. Also, any idea how long it should take before the loss will stop? I donโt have another appointment until 2 weeks. I am 5โ9 and 190 lbs. this is comfortable too me. I was previously banded and it malfunctioned and had to have it removed and then sleeved. I looked healthy and was good here. Thank you in advance for any suggestions -
That does sound wonderful will have to try the "frosted lemonade". Today I am going to meal prep for the week so that during the week it's grab and get out the kitchen. Most people slip up but you went 10 days without cheating ..that's great and you are almost to surgery. I have my preop stuff on June 3.. not sure why they are doing it so far out but the sooner everything gets locked down the happier I will be.

I was allowed ( and encouraged) to walk right away. At four weeks out, I was cleared to do everything except for weights. At eight weeks out, I was cleared to do weights (as in cleared by my clinic)
-
I was working out before surgery. For the first 2 months post surgery, I just walked. I did not have the energy to work out more significant until I was eating more calories (and my program did not encourage it until we were able to eat 800-1000 cals/day consistently. I didn't start back with my trainer until 7 or 8 weeks out from surgery, and then we adjusted my weights down since I hadn't been lifting in a while. We were also really careful with the ab work for the first few weeks back since again, I hadn't been doing anything for a while and I'd had surgery!

Ask me this at month 2 and I would say maybe but..... Now at month 6 and 90lbs down, hahahahaha no. TBH that 90lbs down has had me smiling all week

Iโm off to the beach for a few days with my daughter. ๐บ๐ธMemorial Day weekend.๐บ๐ธ DH and her twin brother will be staying home with the dogs and they plan on golf and fishing. My surgeon admonished me that I am NOT to get my stomach sunburned.
