Just had the band out wasn't fortunate enough to have the revision at the same time. Dr won't do them together, his excuse, he wants the stomach to heal. So jumping through hoops again but only for three months. Hoping for surgery in September. The amazing thing about removal surgery, didn't even fill the pain prescription, I really didn't have any pain but sure have some nasty scars. Just a tender area where there isn't a scar but it is going away slowly. Will be posting more when I have the bypass. Trying not to be too ansy about it or lets say after the surgery is done. I'm a pro with surgeries it is what comes after.

I had a sleeve in 2017 and told my best work friend and parents. When I started losing weight so rapidly, people thought I was dying, like from cancer or something. And I had no idea until said work friend came to me and was like “this is getting out of hand, how have you not heard anything, say Something!” Ha. Now I’m doing a revision to bypass and I am shouting it to the world. I’m so excited! And definitely want no one to think I’m dying!

6 weeks update with pictures!
LovingmeForever replied to LovingmeForever's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thank you:) Yes, I was at goal. I had the sleeve on June, 2012 SW 230. The day of my plastic surgery I weighted 121. To answer your question about the TT, for me the TT only make my stomach flat. I had my TT in 2007 after having kids. I just had a TT and belly button scar revision this time with my LBL, Butt Augmentation using the fat flap, Breast Augmentation and Medial Thigh Lift. -

Surgeon agrees today to do port revision surgery
Katy517 posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I was banded on 4/15 and had problems immediately related to my port. It sticks way out, rubs on a rib and causes a great deal of discomfort when I exercise or even bend over. It actually throbs when I exercise. Very weird. Anyway, I've been complaining since about 4 days post-op and just had what must have been my 5th or 6th follow-up appointment in the past 12 weeks. Up to now my surgeon kept asking me to be patient and wait it out suggesting that once I lost enough weight it would move/settle and the pain would dissipate. He said that all that was available was another surgery and he didn't want to go that route. Today I informed my surgeon that I wanted to do something since it bothers me so much. Also told him that in all likelihood I will not have insurance that covers anything that is WLS-related after the first of next year. He agreed - for the most part. He said that he'd have his office staff pursue getting pre-approval from my insurance for port revision surgery, but is confident that by the time it comes around to do the surgery I won't feel the need any longer. I get the feeling that he just doesn't want to admit to placing it in a bad spot. Anyway, I feel a huge sense of relief knowing that correcting this problem is finally in the works. Who has had port revision surgery? I'm told that recovery is much quicker than for WLS. Any experience out there? TIA. -
Do you feel the band inside? The port?
AlienBandit replied to jazzyjen's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If you are afraid of feeling your port you can have a small revision surgery and have it moved. When I got close to my goal I had a surgery and my doc moved my port under my muscle. Before I could feel it and see it stick out of my stomach, however now when I go for a fill we must use the ultrasound machine to double check where it is because my doc pokes because it is hard to find. Also there are different size ports so you can ask your doctor before surgery to put in a low profile port. -
Surgeon agrees today to do port revision surgery

Thank you Pickles and Mimi. I think my surgeon is a bit ornery too. He's good though at what he does so I'm willing to overlook the lack of bedside manner for the most part. Fortunately, his support staff is superb. Will report back once this swelling and water retention ceases and I have a better idea of what impact the revision has had. -
Glad you posted this! My doctor suggested RNY for that reason because so many "sleevers" have regrets and get revisions and don't have good results. But on this board i hear of many sleevers that have good results. I don't know if doctors are pushing the sleeve but consumers want the sleeve. I think it's an "easy" surgery. I'm still on the fence about the sleeve or RNY. My surgeon says I can think about it and will do either surgery.

Stupid BMI requirements/Food funerals!
FutureSylph replied to lizonaplane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You could have intentionally bad posture that day. If you don't stand up too straight when your height is measured, it will revise your BMI upward. <innocent whistling> -
I'm having band out on dec 18th and bypass revision on the same day. Very happy but afraid of the pain afterward. Some people say it's tolerable and others say it's so unbearably painful! I'm 52 please share your stats Thanks

Surgeon agrees today to do port revision surgery
sandylane replied to Katy517's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had a port revision last week. They put in a low profile port, you may need to ask about that type. My first port was on my side. I didn't want it on my abdominal muscles because of the pain doing sit-ups. However, once I had lost weight it stuck out like some tumor. It was awful, embarrassing and just downright gross. In the meantime the tubing came disconnected from the port and they decided to do a port revision. I now have a low profile port in the same spot on my right side. I hope your request will go through. I've heard of some women having theirs put above their breast toward their armpit to avoid the ugly tumor once they've lost their weight. -
Your calorie intake months after surgery

I'm not understanding your post. It says you had lapband surgery in 2009. Are you thinking about a revision surgery? -
Haven't Been On For A Long Time....
kll724 replied to amy_agatha's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome back. You have taken a good step by joining us and realizing that you have had aproblem and are trying to get back on track. I had to have revision surgery for a slipped band back in Nov. 2011. It has taken me a year to finally have the scale to decide to go back down. I had gained enough weight that my size 8's did not fit and I had to pull out size 10's. So, we are both in the losing stage again! But, you can do it, just start improving your diet, and tracking your calories. The hardest part is admitting to yourself that you need to take control, again. Best wishes, Karen -
The yahoo group says it's a lap band group but he really isn't doing many bands these days. He is doing more band to sleeve revisions than anything else.

Go in and read all the band to sleeve revision stories. go to lap band talk and read the complications section. Bands are a nightmare. Yes, you can control how much weight you lose with a sleeve. After you get to where you want to be, you add back healthy fats and healthy carbs. Do yourself a very big favor and research the band much more thoroughly.

I had this revision in May. I too lost very little with my sleeve & developed GERD. Since my revision 2 months ago, I lost 56 pounds. More than I lost with my sleeve (which was about 20 something pounds).

Hi, It has been a year since my sleeve and I feel like such a failure. I’ve only lost approx 40lbs since surgery. Will the liquid phase I’ve lost 80-90 lbs. While some might be happy, I have a LOT to lose. HW 430 lbs, S.W. 365lbs, current 320lbs and it’s remained there for 4-5 months. I’m so disappointed in myself and feel like I’ve failed. I have the option to get a revision from sleeve to bypass... has anyone done this? Is it worth it? I’m just worried I still won’t lose 😔 Thoughts?

Let me add one more item. This is just my opinion. If you're a patient who feels like they can't control their binging or cravings, the sleeve may be a better choice. I like to think of the satiety or feelings with the sleeve as more tangible than the band. The band relies on patients to feel a very subtle signal that they've eaten enough. This is somewhat intangible for many banders. Some of the patients in this group do not succeed with the band and revise to another surgery(one of the benefits of the band).

I lost 25lbs below my goal weight of 150, BUT I'm only 5'2" so being 125ish isn't unhealthy or too skinny. It puts me right in the middle of a healthy BMI range. I just added back in carbs, and healthy fats to get my body to stop losing. It was a bit a balancing act, and it was weird to continue to lose weight, but my body settled right where it wanted to be and I'm perfectly ecstatic with my results. I also started at 270 so you can imagine that I never thought I'd get to 125lbs. Heck, I didn't think 150 was doable. Please do yourself a favor, and read my blog on here. I have tons of information on the band and VSG. I've had both. The band sucked the life out of me in just 8 short months, destroyed my stomach and it was not reversible. I lost additional stomach tissue during my revision because of the band. Just research, and when you think you've researched enough, read some more. I've sent you a friend request so you can access my blog on here. You'll find current stats on the band, research information on the VSG and tons of my posts of my personal experience from band to sleeve. Best wishes! ! !

I regret getting a lap band every day... is anyone else out there?
needtorecover replied to wishihadnt's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Part of the deal with the lap band is frequent follow-up care. Have you seen your surgeon consistently post-op? It's been said many times before but I'll say it again - WLS is not a cure in and of itself, but it is a tool. A very, very powerful tool but it has to be used correctly for it to work. I'm sorry you're unhappy with your experience. I've been very happy myself seeing as I've lost 30 pounds in 3.5 months. I've still not reached 100% restriction yet but I'm getting there and I'm so glad I did this! I hope you find a way to either revise the surgery or remove your band altogether. I highly recommend seeing your doctor. -
Banded 1 1/2 years Eroded and to be Removed
Short and Chunky replied to 2012's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
2012, so sorry to hear about your band and the erosion. Good thing you kept alert and kept getting things checked out. I had my band just shy of 3 years, got deathly ill this April and almost 30 hours of vomiting blood later, my band was removed. My band had slipped and almost 1/3 of my stomach was on the wrong side. I was throwing up my stomach lining. I had plication at the same time I got my band so when my band was removed, the plication remained (like a sleeve except it can be reversed). All of this happened 4/25/14 and I promptly gained 11 pounds..I am now headed back down. The doctor told me it was normal and not to panic. Keep walking and try to stay away from the carbs. Now I am at almost no carbs and the weight is coming off. Yes, I am scared and I really wish this had not happened, but it did and now I have to move on. Good luck with your surgery and what ever decision you make down the road about revision. There are lots of us out here who no longer have our bands - you have lots of company. Best Wishes Melinda in Florida -
My Primary Doctor was PISSED
Tiffykins replied to pumpkin07's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree with Jane 100%. pumpkin, I'm over a year out, and all my Vitamin counts are perfect, and guess what I'm not exactly perfect with my multi. I mean I rarely miss, but when I do it might be 2-3 days in a row. I can eat such a varied diet now that honestly, I don't see how I could get deficient in anything. Also, the only one I've seen sleeve patients report getting low on is Vit D, D3, and Iron. Some of those patients had deficiencies before surgery, or other medical issues that can contribute to deficiencies. I'm not trying to bash your doctor, but maybe he should read up on the stats of the band, and see just how horrible the complications can be. The sheer fact that 1 out of 4 patients he refers to the band will need another (if not multiple) surgeries to either replace, remove, revise, reposition the band should make him reconsider his pro-band opinion. Those stats are from the band manufacturer, it's not like people are out there making this stuff up. By the way, it's my understanding that 90-95% of our vitamin absorption occurs in the intestines, not the stomach. So, I'm not really sure what missing 80%+ of our stomach has to do with vitamin absorption. Could it happen, yes, but the fact is most sleeve and band patients do not experience vitamin or nutrient issues because there is zero malabsorption. -
Has Anyone Been Sleeved Twice?

What are are you eating / did you eat at 3weeks post band to sleeve?
Egan317 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
3 weeks 2 days post op band to sleeve revision. Down 31pounds and feel great! I'm on my "thin purée stage". I am eating a scrambled egg or some cream of wheat for Breakfast, blended Healthy Choice Soup for lunch ( 5 ounces), blended chili or mash potatoes or puréed cauliflower and a ice pop or two for Snacks. Getting around 450 cals a day. Also get a test tube of whey Protein with 40 grams of protein in addition to my daily food intake. I take mega mens liquid Vitamins and citri-cal daily. What are you eating or did you eat when you were at my stage? Thanks for sharing. Happy and Healthy New Year to all.
