Sooooooo it was a better day. I called the clinic and they informed me that I should be on a 3+1 3 meal replacements +1 meal 100 cal snacks in between including 1 fruit serving and one other snack (protein bar, yogurt, jello) and a sensible balanced meal which include a protein, unlimited veggies and a whole grain. I concluded my evening with boston market kids meal with 2 veggie sides and i feel great. I can definitely do this. I couldve had a regular meal but knew I would be satisfied with that.

Fluid intake
Lovin2lose replied to shannon.crigger's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost a week post op. The first couple of days there was no way in hell that I could come close to getting my Fluid intake OR Protein intake in. Thought I was doomed for failure. What I find works for me is that I fill up a 64oz mug with ice Water first thing in the morning and will sip on that throughout the day. I still can't get the whole thing down, but I will sip on it all day. Then for Breakfast I will have a chocolate Premier Protein shake (30g protein) and I add in a tbsp of PB2 powder (make my protein shake taste kind of like a reese cup) that adds another 2g. For lunch I have an Atkins Lift Protein Drink, that is 17oz and has 20g of protein. And starting yesterday I added a greek yogurt for dinner, that had 12g of protein. Give it time and it does get easier each day. -

Looking for those who had sleeve in August 2015
linda818 replied to Sherri1964's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 8/18 my HW was 264 and my current is 182 so I'm down 82lbs. It has definitely slowed down but I guess that's normal. Today for breakfast I'm having 2 scrambled eggs. I have grilled chicken with broccoli and about 6 noodles of pastA for lunch and I brought a small container of Greek yogurt for a snack. Last night I had sushi for dinner, just three pieces and some edamame. -

Liquid Protein Variety...
Deckard replied to SalOdyssey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
PB2 is a Peanut Butter powder that you can usually get at the nut butter section of regular supermarkets. You can also try adding a tsp of unsweetened cocoa powder to the regular vanilla Protein powders. In my opinion, the Protein shakes are horrible when prepared with Water. When made with a non-fat milk, the difference is night and day. You can also try adding a dollop of non-fat Greek yogurt and mixing it in to the shake Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Pregnant 1 Year Post-Op - Reintriducing Myself
nesa23 replied to beachgurl84's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
@@beachgurl84 how is your pregnancy coming along?? I am 15 weeks and have gained one pound only. I just found out two days ago I'm having a girl (I'm super happy) my stomach doesn't pregnant shape yet but it has grown some and it's hard. I had my sleeve on 12/21/13 I was 278 my lowest was 140 when I got pregnant I was 160 which I was happy with that because 140 I looked too thin. My pouch still restricts me so I snack a lot, mainly fruits yogurts and almonds. I had 3 gallbladder attacks now that I'm pregnant it was the worst thing ever. My doctor said rapid weight lost and pregnancy triggers it. I'll be getting a gallbladder ultrasound just to be safe. So so you look pregnant?I'm wondering if I don't because of the sleeve -
Ricotta Bake (http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html), fat free refried Beans with cheddar melted on top, greek yogurt with vanilla Protein powder added in, hummus, pimiento cheese, tuna salad / chicken salad (light mayo and/or greek yogurt), mashed avocado (not a lot of protein but helped me get a little "normal' food in), sugar free chocolate pudding snack with chocolate Protein Powder added in. I will come back if I think of others! Also I think there is a forum on here specifically with pureed food ideas and/or you can search "pureed" and get some more ideas. good luck!

How Do You Stay Cool Without Ice Cream?

Equal amounts of plain Greek yogurt and ricotta cheese blended with vanilla extract and artificial sweetener does it for me. It's cold and creamy and tastes even better with berries in it. -
Learning the schedule of eating
Djmohr replied to Robin Weinrich's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The toughest part post op is managing all of your fluids and Protein. This is mostly because you could honestly care less about eating or drinking anything. You are simply not hungry! In the first few weeks/months following surgery the most critical thing is Water and protein. WLS patients get into trouble when they are unable or don't understand how important this is to not only weight loss but staying healthy through the weight loss phase. I used simple tricks to help me through. I would use cups that measured my fluids so I really knew exactly what I was consuming. I also used Myfitnesspal to track exactly what I consumed including my liquids. I learned very quickly to literally hold my water cup in my hand constantly. I would sip sip sip every few minutes until I got to the minimum water. I really did get to the point where I would be well hydrated first thing in the am which then helped get me to a full 64oz by 6 or 7pm. Of course my first two weeks post surgery I really struggled thinking I had to eat and drink everything on my surgeons post op diet only to learn that in the first month it is hardly possible. They would simply tell me to do the best that I could. So that is what I did. By 8 weeks post op I was finally able to get all of my fluids and protein in. Measuring and tracking is important but in the beginning you likely won't come close to eating and drinking absolutely everything on that menu. I ended up with tons of little containers of food like turkey or chicken purees that I never even used because I simply did not tolerate it during the purée stage. I learned to simply measure as I needed it. I remember a container of yogurt lasting me 4 or 5 days. LOL. I simply could not eat much at all. Setting timers also will help you. -

Any Seattle/Tacoma Sleevers with surgeries approaching?
MissKay replied to kadie777's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah, it sounds scary and sketchy, and some of the places in Tijuana even look sketchy. But the team was amazing, I was well taken care of, and they really made the entire thing easier than I expected. The pre-op was rough for me. It was a challenge to not everything in sight, and also it was slightly emotional and eye opening about my eating habits. I found it extremely hard to stay under the carb limit, but extremely difficult to even reach the calorie count that I was allotted. As for the surgery itself, I was really surprised by the amount of pain I experienced. Mostly people kept saying they didn't feel any pain, just discomfort from the gas. Maybe my pain was from that, I don't know. But it took about 2 days for the pain to subside. The gas pain itself is real though. I'm still taking gas-x here and there for it. Every day is easier and better. Tomorrow I start my second week of all liquids (the first week was clear liquids). I'm just excited to have some fat free yogurt. -
Consider going to tour car and reading while u eat then you can avoid questions. Having sad that, I ate in the lunch room and when asked how I was eating so little, I told them I had surgery. I got some of the best supporters from that conversation. I understand not everyone wants to tell people. I ate a lot if refried Beans with cheese melted on top, hummus, pimiento cheese, yogurt with Protein powder added, sugar free pudding snack with Protein Powder added, etc. That was during my mushy stage. Good luck! Remember to have Water on your desk and sip sip sip. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

Judging a RNY through a esophagram?
AnnaValenka replied to AnnaValenka's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I cannot finish the Protein shakes and I really hate the taste, so I made some changes to compensate, I add Greek yogurt and powder milk, and I drink about 3/4 in the morning and the rest as snake before going to bed, lunch takes me 20 minutes if it's something like soup and about 40 if it's dry food, I got worried because once I was having lentils soup and I realized it was more than a cup (maybe 1 1/2) , I didn't have any issue with it. On the beginning I was capable to just feel or know it was enough, never had the sneezing, hiccups or anything else, now I'm not sure if there is something that tells me to stop now. -
Judging a RNY through a esophagram?
AnnaValenka replied to AnnaValenka's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
@@OutsideMatchInside my nutritionist program says 8 Oz Protein shake for Breakfast and dinner, 1cup of kinda regular food for lunch (low fat, low carbs), tuna salad, chichen Soup or something like that... and 2 Snacks in between 8 Oz of low fat yogurt and 1 cup of fruit. I made a post asking about the portions and I got replays saying it was too much, now I'm afraid that my pouch might be bigger than it should. -

No. Not at once. The cereal was for breakfast. That's what they told me to eat. Do you have good liquid ideas. I'm not really a fan of creamed cereals and normally would love to have real food. They said it was ok in the 2nd week because the thickest things I can have are yogurt and sf puddings. I'm so sick of sweets and it's hard to find a creamy soup not loaded with fat and all kinds of garbage. I'm definitely struggling. -
@@Kaze, While avoiding dumping syndrome is definitely a good reason to avoid added sugars, especially in the early stages when you’re still getting acquainted with your sleeve, I think there may be additional reasons for that advice. One is that sugar is empty calories. It doesn’t do anything for you besides add calories and bump up your blood sugar. Long term, you’re going to be looking for lower calorie foods to help you lose weight and keep it off. A packet of oatmeal can have 100 calories, but 150 if it has sugar in it, for example. Another is that foods with added sugars are not always the healthiest. They are processed, generally. Even getting the versions without added sugars isn’t always a great choice because “sugar-free” often means there are sugar substitutes in there. Going for plain oatmeal and plain yogurt can be healthier than flavored oatmeal and yogurt with artificial sweeteners. I’m not saying that sugar substitutes are terrible; they have their place if you like them. I’m just thinking that maybe your surgeon is trying to steer you towards healthier foods – fruit in its own juice (and later, fresh fruit) is healthier than fruit in sugar Water. There is tons of variety in sugar/fat/salt-free things! In general, think: unprocessed, healthy. Otherwise, you’re stuck searching for foods labeled “sugar-free.” In the post-op stages, there are fat-free dairy products – yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, ricotta – lean Proteins – eggs, chicken breast, tuna, Beans – fruits – start with canned, move into ripe fresh and frozen fruits. Ripe watermelon, cantaloupe, and peaches are especially soft – vegetables – start with low-sodium canned such as carrots and green beans, then cook your own fresh or frozen choices such as cauliflower florets, zucchini and crookneck squash, bell peppers – starches – sweet potatoes, winter squash, couscous, oatmeal, potatoes…the list goes on. By the way, I’m not sure if the fat-free recommendation is for short term or long term, but I wouldn’t try to cut out fat long-term! Avocados, nuts, peanuts, and fatty fish are some of the best foods you can eat both for health and for weight loss. They have healthy fats.

I just went back and reread your post.....did you have yogurt and cream of wheat at the same time?.....I assumed you meant two different meals....I can just barely get a whole yogurt down.....I don't eat things like cream of wheat because I'm staying away from carbs while I'm in the weight loss phase. -

It sounds like you're doing great......As long as you're in the full liquid stage you're not going to feel too much restriction....I can eat a whole yogurt as well and that's normal.......Once you move to soft foods things like ground meats you'll feel the restriction.....once you start that you'll want to start measuring your food and staying between a quarter to a half a cup of food at a time....Things like yogurt, pureed Soups and Protein drinks go down a lot easier because they don't have to sit in your stomach in order to be digested.... Keep doing what you're doing and asking whatever questions you have. -
Hi. I was sleeved 06/09/2016. So I'm still healing. I had a lot of diarrhea until I was allowed to eat cream of wheat. I don't eat much I guess. I'm afraid I'm eating to much. I get uncomfortable after eating. Premier protein shakes made me sick pre op. Anyway. Help. How much should I be able to drink? Our post op directions says 2nd week we can can a small Greek yogurt no fruit. It's 5ounzes. I slowly sat there and ate it all. I ate my cream of wheat. It was about half a serving mixed with genpro then watered down with almond milk. Got that down too. I feel like I'm eating to much. I'm goin to hit the water now but I've taken a miralax as I feel very full. Let know ANY advice. I'm nervous and feel alone. Thanks.

CALLING ALL JULY 2016 SLEEVERS
SalOdyssey replied to Tresa Embil's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so curious about what people are "eating" during the liquid diet phase. My dr didn't tell me that I had to do it - I was told to have liquids for two days prior to surgery but I want to do the two weeks just to prep my body for the surgery (shrink my liver - get used to not eating . . .). What have you all been told to do?? Only protein shakes? Soups? Some vegetables? Can you mix fruit into your shakes? I have read/heard so many different things. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I am allowed protein shakes 3-5 a day in addition to picking 2 items from a 6 item list consisting of light yogurt, 1 cup raw veggies, sugar free Jello, pudding, cream of wheat or oatmeal.
