    Not Loosing and FRUSTERATED!!!

You really do have a great start here with this 25. I think your body may be getting used to what you are giving it. My personal trainer, surgeon, and dietician reccomend mixing things up a bit to get your body to reset. Try eating more calories than you usually do one day, and then less than normal the next. Adjust your exercise from a jog to a yoga or weight training session one day a week. Even drop the Protein intake one day and focus on a balanced carb/protein ratio (7g of protein = 15g of carb). Before I had the band I would do this when my weight loss would stop and it got me going again. Since I've had the band, and its only been a month, I did this for a few days and was able to bring some loss the following week. Keep on going, we all know you will get over this hump.
  2. I think 25 lbs. is awesome. Don't beat yourself up when you should be celebrating! I was banded February 15th and have now lost 34 lbs. There have been times since being banded that I don't lose and it gets frustrating but I now know that if I keep on doing the right things, the scale will start to move again. These first few months most doctors want us to heal and adjust to this new lifestyle and do not expect huge amounts of weight loss from us. At this point in the game it's a bonus. Hang in there and know that you are not alone. You are doing great!
  3. Hi everyone, let me introduce myself. My name is Carla I had my gastric sleeve surgery on March 1st 2018. I decided to do it because I don’t want to have in the future health problems like diabetes, heart problems and high blood pressure as my family does. Many members of my father’s family are obese and have these problems. When I get my surgery I had an BMI of 31, high insulin, insulin resistance and a lot of % of fat. My weight was 78.5 kgs when I did my surgery ( maybe many of you are wondering why I had my surgery, but I have learned that is not about weight, is about being healthy). My current weight is 64 kgs, I have lost fat but also muscle. By the end of May I reached my first goal weight 60 kgs but I still haven’t reached my % of fat goal ( I am still obese on the chart of % of fat). My old pants doesn’t fit as it used to be. ( last year I gained 18 kgs in 6 months). I am still fighting to get back on track and reach my goals. My final goal is to weight 50 kgs and % of fat around 21%. I have a slower process than the average of patients because I began to have nausea when I begin eating solids. On that time, because of my nausea I wasn’t eating too much( like 300-400 calories per day). It had the consequences that I was feeling very weak, tired and I haven’t been approved to go back to gym yet. My doctor prescribed me some medicines for my nausea like 20 days ago and it really helped, my nauseas went away. So I am still being trying solid food. I am actually eating small portions and I feel full for long time during the day. But I had the problem that my calories intake wasn’t high enough to do exercise on the gym. My nutritionist told me to eat every 2 hours (even if I was not feeling hungry) to have more calories per day. Since June began I have been eating that way because I want to go to the gym but and I also gained 4 kgs already :-(. I have to figure out what to do. Maybe now it’s time to go to the gym. That have been my journey so far. Nice to being part of this community.

    Needing Advice & Support

Stalls are normal. You don't lose weight every day or ever week. Your body needs to adjust. I had one month I lost zero pounds but 2 dress sizes. If you are eating right you have nothing to worry about the weight will come off.

    22 Weeks Post Op

Stretched, Nah! I don't think your stomach stretched, just healed, in the beginning its still swollen from surgery and it takes a few weeks to really heal and eating is a bit difficult, this is what my surgeon stated when I asked the same question, its very difficult to stretch this sleeve my surgeon stated it can happen but it takes a long period of time of overeating to do that. I am having the same issues now, in the beginning I was eating out of a baby dish and I couldn't finish my morning hot Cereal after 3 or 4 bites, now I can do an easy 8 bites before I need to stop. This is my 17th week post surgery and I have lost 49lbs to date, I have been losing 2lbs a week since after the first 3 to 4 weeks, no stalls yet (crossing fingers and knocking on wood) but I can't seem to lose more than that a week but I'm happy with at least I am so far consistant and losing slowly is better than no losing at all. I get a "lil green" envy going on when I hear that people lost huge amounts of weight in a short time span but I get over it, we are all different and we all will get to our goals eventually, we didn't get heavy overnite, though it did seeem like it did. I don't count calories, I wish I did but I'm not that discipline, I try and walk 2-3 miles a day at least 5x pr week, but still only 2lbs a week. Its funny, I skipped a week from walking 'cause I was on vacation and I still only lost 2lbs that week...LOL
  6. I am 10 weeks out from surgery and am happy to say I am down 42lbs! I get frustrated sometimes due to my impatience, but I have never lost this much weight so fast. My older brother just saw me this weekend and gave me a big WTG high five. My clothes fit me better and I am actually fitting in to stuff I havent for over two years. I thank God for his guidence in seeking out this surgery, Was it worth it? YES! I would do it again!. All praise to you Lord.
  7. Anthem here as well. I had the sleeve but regardless they require the 6 month program for WLS. They didn't require a certain amount of weight loss, however without any comorbidities you had to be above a certain BMI. Meaning if you dropped below a certain weight during those 6 months they would deny your surgery. Seems kind of stupid, but that's the way it is. I had some health issues related to my weight but nothing that would have been considered an actual comorbidity, so I was going by a high BMI alone.

    Weightlifting

Look at the gym schedule maybe there is a weight lifting class you can do that's how I get my weight lifting on. Those juiceheads at the lifting area intimidate me lol.
  9. I totally understand we live in a society of instant gratification. What ever weight I loose it doesn't seem to be fast enough. But I refuse to become obsessed with my weight so I only weigh in once a week.

    So I moved to Montana...

Might try an internet search. Here is one that is held monthly but there is probably more. http://montana.providence.org/hospitals/st-patrick/for-patients-and-visitors/support-group/ It describes a Weight Loss Surgery Support Group at the end.
  11. No goal for me either, my doctor told that everyone has a different goal. I set mine with a normal BMI some people want to lose weight to run a marathon or to be able to tide their shoes again. So it's very personal.
  12. Dr. Kim is my former surgeon, and he refused to discuss anything about setting a goal weight with me. I consulted with my PCP to decide on a proper weight goal.
  13. I think I would say 148lbs. I was really comfortable at that weight.

    Weightlifting

@@poohbear1019 I so get the wanting to tone up. I'm new to weightlifting. I use the weight machines at my gym. They seem a bit more user friendly. I'm working on my core right now. Have you looked up any youtube videos on weightlifting workouts?

    Weightlifting

Also poohbear, if you don't already, try to have some definate goals as to what you want to get from lifting. Lift to improve athletic performance, lift to just move heavy weights (numbers), lift for physique, or a combination of the two? From your original post, it sounds like physique and asthetic purposes may be your goals. High volume (many sets/many reps, lower weight) may help you.

    Weight loss in feet

Losing weight in my feet would be AMAZING. I wear a size 11, and most stores here only carry up to a 10. I doubt it'll happen, though. My feet aren't really fat... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. They asked me. I said 150. That's 135 lbs to lose for me. It puts me right in the higher range of normal weight for BMI but I'll lose as much as I can. I just don't want to disappointment myself.

    New here - need help/advice

Hi, I live in Mesquite, Texas (a 'burb of Dallas). I'm investigating the entire lapband process. I've been referred to Dr. Richard Anderson at the Surgery Center of Dallas. Has anyone used him? Can anyone tell me anything about him? I admit, I'm not thrilled at the concept of "going under the knife," even if it is a minor procedure. I've looked into gastric bypass in the past and have seen several doctors, but after only a 30 minute or less talk with them, they've all told me the usual "you're fat, go home, lose weight," and don't want to remotely help me. I'm absolutely terrified I'm going to be told the same thing. I've had 2 of my doctors tell me lately, that unless I do the lapband or gastric bypass, I am going to die. I do NOT know how to talk to new doctors any longer without getting really angry at their attitudes. PLEASE ... any help would be appreciated. I am disabled, but not because of my weight, although I *do* know that losing weight would help with my medical conditions. I'm absolutely desperate at this point as diets do NOT work for me, no matter how strictly I follow them. BTW, traveling to another city for this procedure, regardless of whether it's Waco, Ft. Worth, Houston or wherever, is close to impossible due to my disabilities. It NEEDS to be Dallas. Any advice and help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Laura

    Surgery denied

I'm sorry you are hurting. Work with specialists to get control over your stress eating. If you had weight-loss surgery and continued to stress eat, you'd be in a world of hurt. Remember that you're not back to square one. You've just taken some serious strides to identifying and controlling your problem. Good luck and remember we're here to help! You can do this!

  22. I started my journey in January and I finally got my surgery date of May 8th so I will be a May bandster. I am getting a little nervous and wondering if I can live with the band. I know I can't continue to live like I am so I feel I will use this tool and get rid of this weight. I am getting excited too. Well wish me luck.

    Having second thoughts....

I completely feel the same way! When I first started on this road I started eating healthier, I used to drink sodas all day long at least 6. Now I'm down to 1 a day. Because I know I've got to give them up once I have the surgery. I'm scheduled for Nove. 26th. Now that it's getting closer I eat like a pig, I'm very nervous about the whole thing, and I wonder if this is right for me to. I've been reading Weight loss surgery for dummies and have realized that this is normal. This is such a life changing decision I think we all have to weigh all the factors. I know it's right for me, and I'm ready for it to happen. But I still can't put the food down. Then that makes others around me who know I'm having the surgery doubt I can do it after. That with the over eating has caused me alot of depression lately. I'm just trying to deal the best I can. I hope it helps you knowing that someone else is going thru the same thing.
