    Yeah Baby Yeah!

Congrats on a most WONDERFUL NSV!
  2. My VGS was done 5/09/2012, I have maintained my goal weight since April. I workout with weights and trainer 3 days a week along with a 30 minute cardio workout on stationary bike doing the mountain riding programs all out. I do Water aerobics, swim laps 2-3 days a week. Lets just say I'm very active. To the point I don't even consider exercise as exercise, but just fun!! To the point....we did a body fat analysis today at the gym and I went from 41% to 28% in the last 6 months!!!!

    Weight Related Bucket Lists Anyone?

This is great! I need to make my own...lets see -Cross my legs like a normal woman -Be able to walk more then a block with out being winded -Subway steps. My enemy. Be able to climb them with out feeling like I'm going to dye -Ride a roller coaster comfortably. I have a fear of heighs and would probably hate them even if I was never fat, BUT I want to be able to do it- would be a huge NSV for me! -Buy clothes at Victoria's Secret, Express and Charlott Russe. I've always wanted to shop at these 3 stores. I especially want to be able to buy one of those PINK shirts/pants from VS. Silly but it's something I've never been able to do and I've watched all the thin girls be able to fit them and i want it! -No more wide shoes. The day I am able to go into a shoe store and buy a show in M width I will cry my eyes out -Date. At 23 I should be dating a lot more then I do. I've been big my whole life and never dated like a normal girl- I settled for a guy for a while who was awful for me and almost 2 years later I find myself still hung up on it because in a way I guess I've felt I couldn't do better. -Wear shorts. - Persue the jobs/opportunities I've been too afraid to go for over fear of being rejected because of my weight - BE NORMAL There it is, my very honest 'weight bucket list'
  4. Yep,,I've had to do the 2 gown wrap..this is a big nsv!
  5. Great job. And thanks for sharing. I've been a bit down lately and reading NSV's always perks me up. Thanks again.
  6. Today I crossed my legs! It was probably 15 or more years since I was able to do that ????

    NSDs

While I've had my fair share of NSVs, I've fallen back into some old habits and just had one of the NSDs (non-scale defeats) that I used to hate so much. Okay, I'll admit it... as a morbidly obese woman, I used to drop food on my shirt all the time. I notice thin woman rarely have stains on their clothes. I just ate dinner and did pretty well "bandwise." But as I was putting the food away, I had to shove one more bite in, which left sauce slopped all over my fresh-out-of-the-dryer white t-shirt. Had I only stopped when I was full I'd still be smelling Downy fresh.

If This Isn't Motivating What Is!!!!

Oh, Renewed.......I know that makes you feel so good! I don't blame you for cying....I almost cried too, it's soooo sweet. You must be doing an awesome job at getting healthy if your 9 year old son is noticing all your hard work. I feel exactly the same way you do, I can't wait to get to goal and can't even imagine what life is going to be like. That's a great NSV for you, WTG and thanks for sharing!

A big Thank You to all

I am 6 months into my journey and i can definately say this would have been a lot harder if not for all I have learned from this forum. Who knew what a PB was????!!! When I finally had one i knew what it was and did not panic - swore a bit - but no panic! I have learned that no matter how different we all are, we all have had some of the same experiences and it is nice to know that someone else is experiencing the same things as you. I have lost a bit of hair, plateaued, PB'd, have trouble sometimes with chicken, have had some of the same ( and different ) NSV's ( have i told you about the pr of capris I bought in Apr and could not pull over my butt that I am wearing to work today?!:clap2: ) and try to stick to 1200 calories a day using Fitday ( which I learned of here) when I remember. So, consider this a personal thank you to everyone for paving the way for everyone by sharing your experiences! Gayle
  11. So I guess this qualifies as a NSV... at least from what I've read. Last week I was cleaning out the shed and found an old dress shirt I saved from my highschool graduation. I then proceeded to wear it work the next day. Yeah I wore an XL shirt and it looked good. :-)
  12. Today is weigh in day. My scale hasn't moved in 2 weeks. But this am I lost 1 & 1/2 lbs. I am officially OVERWEIGHT! I have never been so happy to be overweight! Obese no more! My NSV... I wear a lab coat at work. Before surgery in February I wore a tight 2x or a loose 3x. My boss had bought some extras & I tried one on yesterday. It is a medium & it fits!! Hubby said it looks a little big but smaller probably wouldn't fit my shoulders. Asked my boss if I could buy it & she just gave it to me!! Yay!

    Wedding Anniversary NSV

Aww, cute NSV. May you and your hubby thoroughly enjoy!
  14. Not sure if this is a NSV I was unpopular in high school. The weight was a factor. I have recently connected with some people from the small town I grew up in. A neighbor girl I grew up with, just posted a derogatory message to me on facebook. I was surprised it took me back to being the fat girl in school for a moment. Back when I was young her comment would have beat me down. It has no effect on me now. I make no apology’s for living a fabulous life. I'm proud of all I have worked for to overcome. I'm thrilled I look totally different than I did in high school. I'm more beautiful on the inside than I have ever been. I'm truly happy. Thinking about my class reunion next year--- She has given me great motivation to maintain and get out and experience life. From all the unpopular kids back in the day..I salute her for “believing” she is still the popular beautiful mean girl after 30 years.
  15. Hey, hey, hey...everyone! This is the only place I can post this and someone will totally understand why I'm so happy. Today the hubs and I decided to make it a movie night. We had a busy afternoon, therefore this evening we just wanted to chill. My hubby decided that he would order pizza for dinner. Now in my last post I explained how pizza is my kryptonite, so when he said pizza my mouth immediately started to Water. Anywho, the pizza arrived smelling supa (my version of super) delicious and I couldn't focus for a few minutes! However I am ecstatic to report that I didn't have a single slice!!! I'm doing my happy dance as I'm typing this. I'm even more excited because this triumph comes on the eve of my fist fill. Woot, woot! I had to share this because my biggest battle with weight loss happens between my ears. Tonight was a major victory for me. And on that note, have a splendid evening everyone.

    That's a great NSV!
  17. IncredibleShrinkingMan

    A true mans NSV

Most NSV's involve something ego-petting, but this is priceless. Congratulations!
  18. I was buying some dry sherry for cooking and I got carded in the checkout line! Yippee! I'm 34 and haven't been carded at the grocery in years. That's what losing 80 lbs since I started this weight loss journey will do!

NSV (Non Scale Victory) Read me Read me!

That is sooooooooooooooooo awesome!!!!! Those NSV's are sometimes better than seeing a pound drop on the scale!! Good job!!

    Come on 100's

So...i had typed a long, heart felt answer, then my Ipad decided to randomly close the internet browser and I lost everything. So...the gist of what I said was I understand where you are coming from. It did seem to take forever to reach under 200lbs to me. I confess i am a bit obsessed with the scale, so I am trying to focus more on NSV's. You're doing a GREAT job. You just have to be the one thing I am not...patient. You WILL get there. Just think, would you be upset if you gained the amount lf weight you lost? That helps me keep it in perspective when I feel I'm losing too slowly or not enough. If i were gaining 2lbs a week, it would be torture.

    I am FREEZING

I was always hot before surgery too. When I started the presurgery diet, and was losing weight fast, I became cold...and I'm still cold. My theory is the body metabolism slows down because it thinks is starving. I am 3 1/2 months post surgery and I am still cold. I wear wool socks, 3 layers of clothes, and sometimes even a hat. It's one I got years ago in Alaska, and it makes me laugh when I put it on because that's where I feel like I am...especially these past few days. It's supposed to be 17 degrees with the wind chill here in Southwest Louisiana tonight. I can deal with the cold in exchange for all the weight loss! I am stoked...it is hard to believe. At our family christmas dinner, as people arrived I noticed everyone looking at me with that look that says...hmmmm...something is different...but no one "got it". So I did not tell them. Mischievous me! Next time they see me, I think they will realize, because I can now see that I have cheek bones in my face...(and I feel "cheek" bones when I sit. Lots of NSV's.:thumbup:
  22. Tmrrw makes 1 week postop for me. I gained 4.2lbs while being in the hospital for surgery. I’m down those extra pounds & 2.6lbs on top of that. I know that the extra weight came from IV & probably also water retention. I woke up out of anesthesia burping & the following day, started to pass gas. I was finally able to poop this morning with the help of milk of magnesia. I’m able to get down 2 protein shakes a day, crystal light & other fluids. Can’t wait til I see the true weight come off. I’m big on taking measurements & celebrating NSVs, but it was a shocker to see the weight gain after surgery. You can keep up with my journey on IG @CurlyGirl_GetsFit
  23. Congrats on the NSV's! I've been reading your blog this morning....it's great!:mad2: Ruth
  24. My 11 month Bandiversary is coming up on the 23rd, and I just wanted to share how great of a ride this has been so far! Some of the many good things: This past weekend, for the first time ever, I participated in a 5K race (Race for The Cure) and ran it, instead of walked! This is HUGE for me, since at this time last year, I was physically unable to run due to a co-morbidity called "compartmental syndrome." I recently noticed that my legs no longer touch when I walk! I fit in regular sized clothing and am finally able to shop in normal stores again! As a result, shopping has become fun again, and I actually enjoy shopping with my friends (since now I don't have to pretend to look at accessories while they try on all of the cute clothes that were too small for me)! I actually LIKE how my body is looking these days. That's surprising & interesting to me because when I was gaining, I felt huge at this weight. I am not uncomfortable on airplanes any more (well, not more than the average person anyway) and no longer am terrified of getting stuck in a middle seat! Some funny observations: Sometimes I look at a pair of pants and think "There is NO WAY these are going to fit!" and they do! It's hard for me to really understand what I look like right now. I had some anxiety about getting rid of my "fat" clothes until I realized that -- unlike after any "diet" I've ever done in the past -- I'm not going to need them again. The other day, a woman I know at work (who I don't work with or see all that often) INTRODUCED HERSELF TO ME IN THE ELEVATOR because she didn't recognize me! How crazy is that?! Just wanted to share these things! We all have a lot to look forward to! Catherine
