    I'm here to help...

So, in my new retired life....right......I went for a walk today. Yeah me. You would think after all that walking in Argentina with a heavy back pack it would be a breeze to walk today. Nope, not, nadda. I only walked 30 minutes and can feel it. It's not like I'm done in for the day, but I thought this walk would be easy and I was surprised it wasn't that easy. Joyce, it might be a great idea to go to Guam after moving your son back to KC. You won't have to deal with the stuff that may come up from that. Congrats on the NSV....it is a very positive reinforcement when people notice. See I'm jealous of you going to Guam, another exotic place to visit. Arlene, we bought the camera used from a friend and it's a Olympus E-300. I think it is only a 5meg digital camera, but it has all the bells and whistles. It can be used on auto or you can do all the settings manually. DH is very good with a camera and he took most of these pictures, but not all. It's big and heavy and not a lot of fun to carry around, but it does take great photos. I'm thrilled with the digital media because you get instant gratification from your shots. If you want to touch them, you can always have them printed. So I submitted a resume today. I can't believe I'm doing this already. But, I got my insurance information and I have to pay a lot each month to keep my insurance and when the service center called me today, they told me I only had 9 years of service and was not entitled to retirement benefits. I came unglued and started crying. So now that I'm over that, I'm taking this up the ladder to as high as I have to. I wonder what happened to my other 25 years. This will be resolved. Okay, on to another project...mainly laundry. Later, ee

Eva - love, love the pictures. Wish I could have shared lunch with you at that lovely place. Wow WARNING - my Visa credit card was (also) compromised in Las Vegas (I bet). Apples mentioned she had problems upon returning from Vegas. Card was just denied at the groomers. Charges in Canada, and India, as well as, the US. Watch you bills, ladies. For those who used credit cards in Vegas. A little good news to share, yesterday and today ppl have mentioned that I'm sure losing weight. NO ONE has noticed anything before this. NSV yippee LauraK - drama may reach fever pitch beginning Sunday. We are moving 42 yr. old son from Nevada back to K.C. to start his life over. I'll be finding an apartment for him and his dog next week and getting him settled. Then pack and leave for Guam on the 1st. Running away from it all.

    Success Story... I think

I would call this an interesting NSV. Someone has noticed your weightloss and wants you to show off your new body. Albeit yelling might have been a bit much. Congratulations on the wonderful weightloss. Keep us posted. Lily
  4. I had decided to not shop for a while. I figured it had been summer, and why buy new capris/shorts, only for them to not fit me next summer. I've been using belts to cinch them up and keep from falling off! Anyways, I finally decided to go shopping yesterday to buy a new dress for a religious convention we have this weekend. I couldn't believe I fit into size 14 and 16's (without the W), when I had been wearing 22/24. That was a really good eye opener for me. I hadn't been losing as much these past few wks than I had previously, so I was not quite feeling down, but not really 'seeing' a difference in me. Boy oh boy did that change yesterday!! It felt so good to buy 2 cute dresses (they were on clearance!) and feel good in them. I tried them on for hubby last night, and he was like "wow!" I even bought a few new undies & much needed bra's. So everyone - go shopping! It can really help to show you the difference you've made, even if the scale isn't showing it as much. :wink2:

    rollercoasters????

We just came back from Disney and I rode all the coasters with absolutely no problem! That was a great NSV moment for me because I didn't 'just barely fit'...I fit comfortably! First time in 17 years that I've been able to ride the coasters! Woot! I was a bit worried about those that had restraints that went over the shoulders, fearing the bottom part would push against my port, but they were all fine. Enjoy! .

    My nsv!!!

Way to go! I can't wait to join you in Onederland! Thank you for the inspiration. BTW, I'm not so sure I'd call that a "NSV". It seems like a pretty specific SV!
  8. well today I woke up with a horroble sinus infection....and all I wanted to do was lay there and sleep. today was weigh in day so I stripped and stepped on the scale and it read 199.3!!! woohoo! so I preceeded to get on my workout clothes and tennidls shoes and did my normal 2 hour workout. now, I will admit I walked my 30 minutes on the treadmill instead of my normal jog/sprint. as I sit here drinking my hot tea watching trashy reality tv, not feeling well at all...i'm proud of myslef and feel good that I still worked out....and that I'm in ONEDERLAND!!!!
  9. LoseIt!

    Tomorrow is the day!

That wasn't me, but that is the most awesome thing ever. Band Jovi! Haha!! Love it. Good luck with the surgery! You are going to be hitting those NSVs before you know it!!
  10. GonnaBeFit

    Tomorrow is the day!

Yes, tomorrow I will officially be a bandster. I'd love to come up with a cute name for it, like LoseIt did ... Band Jovi was it? LOL I dont know. Anyways .. tomorrow I will have it. Tomorrow is the start to the rest of my life. I am praying the Lord helps me stay disciplined, to do what I'm supposed to do and follow the rules so I can have the most benefit and success from this experience. I have been thinking lately about my NSV and my SV. I dont know if I have a set amount I would like to lose weekly, I'd love to lose at least 5lb ... but I know that probably wont be realistic. During the two week liquid diet I started on the 5th I lost 5 lbs as of the 14th. I think I am still losing though but will sure tomorrow what the final count is. So lets just say that I lost 2.5 lbs each week, thats way more than I was losing before and right in the healthy range. I think thats what I will shoot for my SV. As far as NSV ... I'd love to be able to cross my legs and not strain my quads or hams doing so, not having to hold my knee or stabilize my foot on something just to keep my legs crossed. Id love to be able to wrap a normal size towel around my body after a shower and have no skin showing! I'd love to be able to not lose my breath walking fast, trying to keep up with my husband. Id love to be able to shop at a normal store and wear single digit sized clothes! I'm very short so I think a normal size for me might be around 4 or 6 ... I'd love a 6, would be happy with an 8 I think. Ahh I'm fooling myself. I want a 6  I want to be able to drive without my stomach touching the steering wheel. I want my daughter to say "mommy what why dont you have two belly's anymore" I want her to be able to hug ME .. not my fat. I dont want my daughter to know what fat is .... I know there are tons more, but that was on my mind today as I prep for surgery. I have to pack my bag today too ... I wonder what I should bring. I'm only staying a night so should I bring comfy pants to wear to bed? What do I wear home? Will I be able to wear my jeans home? Oh, I also have to fill my prescription today so it can be here ready to use. My parents are coming here tonight to help with my daughter, my husband is home from Iraq ... YAY ...

    Checking in at 50lbs!

Congratulations!! I just love reading the awesome NSV's. They really keep me motivated to continue on to getting the sleeve. Keep up the great work and keep us posted. Lily
  12. If HB is Droopy then I get to be Saggy! Leigha is a perfect Snow White! Maybe Saggy goes better with Scooby Do? Hubby can be Grumpy, or is that a Smurf? :wink2: Anway, C. Diff. symptom was just an anomaly, thanks all for the prayers! Whew. I was sceered!!! I really don't want to go through that again. I was running low on probiotics. That nudged me to order more. My recent fill has provided me just THAT much more restriction, which is exactly what I wanted. I am not so hungry between meals now and my meals are smaller. But I am not getting stuck more often (once I adjusted to it, that is ). Pants are a little bit looser. Haven't done a morning, naked weigh-in. It's funny, I really DON'T care! I step on at night in PJs. Which is subject to all sorts of variables. But I can't get to the scale in the mornings due to its location. The weekend if DH is up first is my only chance. I could have yesterday and today, but I found it was too much effort and I don't care what it says. It has no power over me. WOW! WOW! WOW! Talk about an NSV! So, I am thinking I am pretty much at my goal weight. My ticker says 140. But I have been hanging here at 145-147 since around March or so. Maybe I should change the ticker and be done with it! Anyone heard from Anne or Bobbie? Where they been hiding?

    Barely One Month Ago...

One month ago (yesterday) I was sleeved by Dr. Aceves in Mexicali, MX. I cannot tell you how AWESOME I feel right now. Here's why: I was wearing a size 22W!!!! Today I'm fitting a lot of my 16's and some are Misses. I bought a Suede leather jacket today from Goodwill. It was so nice, and it was size M. OMG... it fit, except it was a tad bit tight at the very bottom where the buttons are. It's ok, I KNOW I'll fit into it really soon. I count the moments! In the mean time I took it to my Green Cleaners who are going to do some minor repairs and restorations. It's actually in very good condition. I am able to do over two miles now in walking and on my treadmill, and I feel so much lighter already. It feels so wonderful! I'm going to start adding in more of my cardio exercises as I'm feeling good and up to it again. I'll just do minor 20-25 minute sessions to start, but I'm at it again! I'm already almost down 20 Lbs since surgery and almost 30 since my pre-op diet. I really couldn't have DREAMED of having better results. My status right now is RIGHT ON!! I'm actually able to eat soft solids pretty well now. I can get my Protein naturally, and eat my Fiber bars good. Things are running quite smoothly for me now! I'm soooo ecstatic, it seems so unreal. Thank you SLEEVE, DR. ACEVES AND HIS AWESOME STAFF, VST AND MOST ESPECIALLY THANKS TO MYSELF FOR BELIEVING IN ME. :-) Here's my best NSV so far though... Hubby's already calling me "skinny". Hahaa! Ok now I know I'm not skinny by any measure of the imagination, but it sure feeellssss good!! :-)

Beginning to feel like a failure

aw scoops! first breathe! it really is going to be ok! first things first....STAY OFF THE SCALE!!!! all it is going to do is make you stress....and the cortizol in stress actually hinders weight loss. second...yu are going to flucuate pounds from day to day. as far as the 6 lbs goes...pre surgery I would gain 10 during that time....its gotten better and better as the months tick by. your total of pounds lost is amazing! it is too early for you to start beating yourslef up continue exercising....and try to start focusing on some NSV's.
  15. Today I went to lunch with my husband, and then afterwords decided to burn some calories shopping :bolt: I bought clothes in the regular section for the first time in. . . . holy cow, since grad school-- at least 10 years? Now, I'm not gonna lie to you all, I bought XL and really the styles that work for me now are the blousy shirts that are not form fitting (they probably fit my form too well right now, is what I'm saying), but still! Whee! I got a Michael Kors shirt in XL for $20 on clearance peeps, and it looks nice on me! That feels so good. You wanna know what's weird though? I felt really self-conscious shopping in the regular section, like other shoppers were staring at me and wondering what I was doing in "their" part of the store. :wink2: No, I didn't actually see anyone doing that but I felt it the entire time I was there. Definitely something psychological I'm going to have to work on.

    so excited

That is great! I know how excited I was to get off my diebeties meds, then high blood pressure and high cholesteral. It's a great NSV!
  17. Thanks Elfie! Today, so far so good! And c.diff. is a literal and figurative PITA! Wah. HB, great NSVs! woohoo!

    Nsv

I have lost a total of 19 1/2 inches!!! I was so surprised to see the measurements....Yeah for NSV's!!!!
  19. I made it through the day yesterday dragging my saggy butt through. I'm glad I had easy patients and a few open appointments. I went to bed a little early last night and joked with my husband about trying to avoid urges to get up in the middle of the night to shower and do laundry. I do not think there is a cure for some of my dim-wit moments and there is no warning before they happen. I think I have just learned to accept them and move on. It does help that I can laugh at myself. It helped when my long time patients told me how great I'm looking. I've had some great NSV moments lately. On Tuesday I ran into my old neighbor. He lived across the street from me for about 15 years before we built our new house and moved. I could tell by the look on his face that he didn't know who I was for a moment. We stood and talked for a bit. I could tell by the way he was looking at me that he was noticing I looked very different. I told him how much weight I've lost. He said, " OMG, I wasn't going to bring it up unless you did, but I didn't recognize you at first, then I knew who you were." Yesterday I had a very dear long time older patient. I think she is in her late 70s. She told me the weightloss is very attractive on me. It is these little NSVs that really help my spirit stay boosted...... saggy skin and all.
  20. Just had a seriously weird moment whilst grocery shopping. Some guy looked at the stuff in my trolley and asked if I was feeling hungry. I said no I have a teenage son so he replied that he was wondering how I managed to stay so slim! Yes it may have been an NSV but it also felt a bit weird and creepy.

    Outrageous Octobers

Hi fellow October Bandsters! I was banded last week. Tomorrow will be my graduation to soft foods. I have had my 2 first major NSV this week. On sunday I was able to put my wedding ring on and wear it comfortably. This is the first time in 3 years I have been able to wear it. I also was taken off my insulin yesterday. I know my doctors said that it would happen fast I just didn't think it would be this fast. I wish you all the best of luck and look forward to watching your progress!

    EVERYBODY DANCE, NOW!!

Oh Girl, what fun reading your post. You're hilarious. What outstanding progress and soooooo many NSV's. WOW. I am thrilled for you.
  23. I got dressed for work today and realized that my belt, even on the tightest hole, was still too big. I went to the shoemaker during lunch hour and had him put two more holes into the belt, so it should last me a little while longer. The lady who owns the shop was really cute -- she didn't charge me and told me that if I gained weight, then she would charge me. What a great feeling! Of course, I could have gone out and bought a new belt, but I think I enjoyed adding the holes to this one even more. Especially, since it wasn't that long ago that the belt was just barely fitting me on the loosest hole and I was just about ready to move up to the next size. I truly do believe I've been given a second chance at making my life work for me. All the best to all of you out there. Brian
  24. Well, it's a strange one, but I finally tried on some smaller underwear I bought a month ago. Size large -- not XXL (where I started), not even XL, just large! -- boxer briefs now fit like a glove. Not too snug, not too baggy! And my size 42 waist jeans that I bought a month ago because my 48's that I started with were literally falling off me are now pretty baggy. I have some 40's that were hand-me-downs -- they're too long in the inseam -- and even they are starting to fit loosely. I should be in 38's before the end of the year. For me, getting below 40-inch jeans is a HUGE achievement, since I've been in 40+ inch waist jeans for more than 10 years now. Dare I dream that before this process is over, I'll be back in the 36-inch waist jeans I fit into back in high school? That would be 12 inches off my waistline... wow! Incremental progress, but it's all going in the right direction, and I'm starting to get excited about it. I'm feeling positive about my body for the first time in a decade or longer, and it's just going to keep getting better!

    Any runners out there?

You're not crazy, in fact this is probably the best possible way to get ALL of that last 60lb off. I started running at about 30lb down and I could not believe the difference not having that 30lb made to what I could do. I meant to start the couch to 5K and I ran the whole damn way! Well, staggered and shuffled but it wasnt a walk, it was definitely a jog. I was so elated by that NSV, I never looked back. If you start slow, run every second day, do not under any circumstances allow yourself to jump in boots and all so that you burn out or get injured you'll be fine. that was always my problem with exercise, I do love it and I was athletic and I would always start WAY too ambitiously and just not be able to keep going due to sheer exhaustion. Make yourself do it slowly and when you run make yourself run slower than your natural pace (its hard!) - this is how you build up a super aerobic base so that you can work on the fast stuff later. But all you need to run a 10k is a good aerobic base and you can build that pretty darn quickly. Very best of luck!
