I have lost about 16 lbs. but I have lost 5 INCHES from my waist-WHAT?! Can you believe it?! Also, I used to get in bed and my face would be so hot and red and now that doesn't happen anymore and I don't get so hot during the night that it wakes me up! I do get woken up with intense hunger pains though. Oh well, can't have it all. YAY! So far I really like being banded!

Rookie Question, What Is An Nsv?
Reunitedjess posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry....tried to figure it out, can't!! -
My collar bones were one of my first NSV's at about 20 pounds. I've definitely lost from the top down, as "they" say women do. When sitting at my desk at work, I often lean forward with my elbow on the desk, cross my arm across my chest and rest my hand on my chest/shoulder. The first time I felt that bone poking out it scared me. It takes a while to get used to!

Yay, I know it's soon, but had family here from out of state. Went to a mexican restaurant and had yummy soup. Just a slightly spicy chicken broth and some well cooked soft veggies that were easy to mush in my mouth. It was a delicious change! It felt empowering to go out to eat and not pig out. I pulled the big pieces of chicken out and the cob of corn (saved those for my hubby to eat later as a snack)

NSV First Dinner out since the band!
Dianechef replied to waterlily1072's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Molly!! Does't it feel good? It's the start of your "new" life - life where YOU are in control & it is so empowering. I love the feeling of leaving a restaurant knowing that I ate until I was comfortable & not stuffed. I feel healthy & alive instead of stuffed & wasted. Great NSV!! Keep up the great work. -
Congratulations...thanks for sharing. I love reading about NSV:)

I cant wait to be you ! 100 lbs is amazing !!!!!!!!! good for you for sticking with it ! some people think 1 lb a week is too little, but i think its perfect because it gives your body time to adjust and keep the weight off. Love those NSV's! too ! Good luck ! You're doing great ! -
Fantastic! What a great NSV. I cannot imagine how great you must have flt!. Keep up the great work.

I live for NSV's. My favorite is not using a seat belt extender on an airplane as a matter of fact I had a great struggle putting on the seatbelt even with the extension. I have the biggest smile on my face every time I have to tighten the seatbelt because it is to loose from the previous traveler.

Hey Everyone... I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to the new year.... A while back I had made my next goal....I had met my earlier goal...(250 lbs :rolleyes )....So I decided that My next goal would be 2 things...I want to be about 225lb by my Birthday...(March 28th)...and to get into this "certain" outfit... Well the weight is not moving as fast as I would like...BUT... the other night my SIL was at the house...We were going thru a bunch of her clothes (she is losing weight also) And we come acrost some that she still wasn't quite in yet...I was telling her that this one outfit should be her GOAL OUTFIT....So I told her that I would show her my GOAL OUTFIT...It is a Very Nice 3 piece Light Purple Sequins Outfit...I had bought it for my 50th birthday party(it didn't fit:think )....It never really fit right and I just never took it back.... So I have dreamed that ONE DAY I would fit into it again...and quess what I just thought I would try the top on for SIL (just to show her) and it was big....(yes now I will be taking it IN...) So I thought I would try on the pant and Jacket...well it is all big...But I have Ideas of how to fix it...and then Hubby had better find some place to take me...(SIL suggested a short Cruise :sleep ) I would go for that.... My thought then was.....I weight LESS then (in lbs) than I do now??? How does that work??? .....Now understand ...I AM NOT COMPLAINING... just wondering.... Now all I need to do is get that weight off to reach that next goal....... Blessings, Debbi 311.6/247/160 :whip:

NSVs are about all I have! Ok, here goes: After 10 months of going to the gym, I have bought 3 pairs of high heels. Not the regular 2 inch pumps I wear to work either. I bought a pair of 3 inch strappy sandals, 3 1/4 inch suede pumps, and (oh my God!) a pair of 4 inch mule boots. And I look GOOD in them. My legs aren't icky and my feet aren't running over the sides!

Echoing what everyone else has said. My stall lasted 2 weeks. I just kept plugging and I'm headed downward again. I really do think that our bodies go through a "WTF??" moment. It will get with the program. One of the things you want to keep track of is non-scale victories (NSV). You may not notice the scale moving, but pay attention to things like how your clothing fits, how you feel when you're walking, etc. That will help.

If you see some of my other posts, I've had chronic heartburn since I was 10, and months after banding, it's still a daily occurance. I forget my Prilosec sometimes, and pay the next day. Well last night I was having some heart burn and realized I hadn't taken Prilosec in a week!! And the only time I had heartburn was last night! And it was MILD.. I've never had it be MILD. And I've never gone a week without heartburn unless I was taking my meds. WOOHOO!! :pray2:

Well I passed the 3 months mark now losing another pound this week. Not a big loss this week but still a loss. Some times it surprises me that I continue to lose from week to week to week. I have never experience continual weight loss like this. It's great to be putting on clothes that I haven't worn in several years. A big exciting thing too is pretty soon I will be in sizes that I can shop at Walmart for clothes. Yeah I know it's Walmart but hey it's not shopping at the Big & Tall store. For the last 10 plus year that's the ONLY place I have been able to shop and so if I can buy clothes at a normal store that will be a huge change for me. I think I am only about 10 to 20 lbs away from being able to accomplish that NSV Milestone. I have got to say I directly see the difference between the weeks I work really hard at exercising and the weight loss. I wasn't as stringent this last week and it has shown with only a 1 pound weight loss. So I have got to kick myself in the butt again and get back on track. It's often times hard when other things around you aren't going as well but that can't be used as an excuse for changing your life in a way that will make you live longer and healthier with your family. Today I am heading out to do some photography and I know I will be able to walk around without getting wore out easily. Just months ago that would have really taken it's toll on me but now I see it in that I can actually enjoy being outside without sweating up a storm and getting short winded. Well onto another week and continued weight loss. Current Weight - 390 lbs Loss Since Surgery - 52 lbs (13 weeks) Total Weight Loss - 95 lbs (1yr 1mo)

Ok, I had 2, count em 2 different men come up to me this week and tell me how good I am looking! I have had women come up to me before and mention my weight loss, but guys don't usually do it. The first one was a neighbor in the grocery store of all places and the 2nd one was my girls Dr. I had taken the girls to the dr's 4 times in the last 3 months and Dr Mike said he noticed back in January, but he has gotten into trouble before saying something about weight to a woman, so he doesn't usually. But now, he definitely can tell I have lost a lot of weight and wanted to compliment me on it. I really needed that, been a bit depressed cause I was doing so well them bam, the scale quit moving. This is just what I needed to get myself motivated again. :biggrin1: Goodbye chips, hello treadmill!!!!!!

Advice Needed On Moving Past 6 Month Stall
Lissa replied to ava2011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LilMissDiva posted a boot camp in Post Op Questions that you might want to try. It involves going back to basics in order to jump start weight loss again. Of course, you need to determine if you are really in a stall, or if you are losing inches instead of pounds right now. Every time I "stall", I start looking for the NSV's. I dropped 10 pounds almost overnight about 10 days ago, and haven't lost an ounce since. However, I've dropped another pants size and I'm seeing the results in my waist and hips. I've upped my workouts a bit, added more Water and am staying strict on eating my Protein. However, I don't really consider this a stall because I'm visibly losing inches. If you haven't measured yet, this would be a good time to do so. Then you have something to compare it to if/when you "stall" again. Good luck with your journey! -
So I noticed today that my inny that used to look like an inatube, bottomless pit, black hole is smaller and shallow! This is a victory for me! I hated the way it would look under my clothes like this huge hole in my stomach. Now you can't even see it! This is a fat girl victory for me.
