Hope you all had a good day. I have noticed my eating habits have changed the past week. I have been burping a lot today while eating and feeling uncomfortably full just from 1/2 cup of food. A couple weeks ago I could 1 cup with no problem. Is this normal? Also.. spicy food is a no-no. I used to LOVE food spicy. My sister is having a get together tomorrow and I volunteered to make the food so I can make it band-friendly. I am going to do chicken chili and lots of fruit/veggies. Has anyone tried Diet Snapple? I found one that is 10 cal per bottle and 0 carbs... I am wondering if this is good choice? juice was one of my issues before so I am trying to find a healthier option. Here is what I ate today.. Breakfast - 1/2cup yogurt, 1/4cup peaches lunch - 1/4 cup shredded beef, 1/4cup mango snack - 8oz milk dinner - 1 tomato slice, 3 pieces of grilled shrimp (MISTAKE. The shrimp was too tough and did not go down well) Snack - Water and 4oz pineapple juice

I think I am going to set a timer and literally eat every two hours. I just don't know how much I could have per sitting. I am supposed to get 70g Protein a day and I refuse to get that from the Protein Shakes which gave me the worst constipation of my life. Frustrated!

Hello every one! Well had my upper gi done today. Dr. said every thing looked good and he stretched my esophagus and I should be able to start my regular diet tomorrow but I should stick with cream Soups and milk shakes today. Of course I went to the store and bought frozen yogurt to make my milk shakes with. My throat is pretty sore but if this will get me back to being able to eat with out vomitting it back up I will be happy. I have lost a total of 37 lbs and that is with no fills yet. I can't believe it is almost 3 months from my surgery already. I'm a little up set because I have had these problems but at least we are finally working on getting me back in a healthy state. Sometimes I just wish my Dr. would have listened to me when I told her the first time. I remeber telling my Dr. after two weeks of surgery that I felt like something was stuck in my chest. If she would have done the test then she could have saved me some time. I can't believe that most of you are going on your 3rd fill and I have not yet had my 1st fill. Well my mother in law can longer walk because of the cancer on her back is press on her vertabra and she no longer has any feeling in her legs. I feel helpless for her and my husband. I went thru this three years ago with my dad and I rember feeling useless so I no how my husband is feeling. I'm really sorry I'm not on as much as I had planed to be, but I'm sure in the future I will be her more to support you all and get support.

1st thing to eat post op
stept04 replied to GingerAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are so lucky you get to have full liquids on day 2 out of surgery. I have to wait a week. The first thing I'm gonna try I think will be a cream Soup then maybe yogurt if i can handle the soup good. That's if I can have yogurt on full liquids I have to check my list. Unlike revdrkatie I don't have to get out and do anything big till Monday. I had my surgery the same as you and her. I'm wondering if you can stretch your pouch on liquids because I feel so full and bloated when I drink anything. How about you? Good luck with your recovery. ~~~Stephanie -

January sleevers are youd ready?
LauraM5 replied to ready2haveanormalwaistline's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! It gets easier!! Go slow on solid foods! I wanted to have soft mushy foods SO bad that the day the dr. said I could I went to lunch with my husband ordered a scrambled egg. Ate two bits and proceeded to throw it up because my stomach wasn't ready to handle it that quickly. Start with one small soft food at a time. Something easy like regular yogurt. Then go to cottage cheese, etc... It got better for me about 6 weeks to where I felt normal and back to myself. Take lots of naps and rest when you can! -
Hello Ladies, it has been awhile since I have been on this site. I sure hope everyone is doing well and by reading the lastest postings I see that you are. It has already been 7 months since my surgery and I am now down 98#. I was hoping to be down 100# yesterday but that did not happen. I have thyroid issues, taking med for it and my weight loss is a littls slower because of it. I am not complaining (well maybe a little) but I am so happy to be down 98# at this time. I see that some of you are having trouble with protein intake outside of shakes and I must admit I am too. Starting last week I have limited myself to 1 protein shake a day and I make it my breakfast because it is just easy for me to do it that way. I always did hate breakfast and I get sick of eggs so a 30 gram of protein shake is how I start my day. I am still getting some of my protein from cottage cheese, greek yogurt and low fat cheese. At least once a week I have beef chili and once another night I might have grilled chicken breast. Sometimes I will make it turkey but for some reason turkey is not tasting too good to me anymore. I have starting drinking V8 juice low sodium 8ozs a day to help get my veggies in and I have serving a fruit a day and that is it. My fruit is usually cantalope 1/2 cup or watermelon 1 cup. I am afraid to eat anything more than that. The watermelon takes care of my sweet tooth and I did not have it everyday. I have tried the quest bars since they have 20 grams of protein from GNC but I did not care for them, I tolerate them but that is about it. The holidays are coming up soon and I am so afraid. I am doing water arobics 3 times a week and I am getting to the point I need to add something along with this. I need to get myself a part time job soon!!! I do not care what it pays I just need to do something. Take care ladies, Cheryl

EEK! I'm glad you are getting the sore throat thing taken care off! Don't wanna be sick on surgery day! I'll bet those boys keep you hopping! Its great that your parents can help you out with them and they get to spend quality time with them to boot! The pre-surgery diet is Glucerna (diabetic weight loss shakes), sugar free jello, sugar/fat free pudding and yogurt and broths.. I bought several flavors of the Isopure Zero Carb drinks for after surgery. Haven't tasted them yet, have you? I also ordered some of the Unjury Protein online. I tasted the chocolate.. its pretty good...

MiniMandy_ be careful with what you eat..while healing if you "try out" foods and your swelling isnt down it will catch up with you..you need to stay on liguids and soft mush for awhile..believe me its not easy but its neccessary...i ate potatoe soup one day thinking id be fine but within hours i was hurting. it irritates your stomach. and when i started more harder foods this week its still hard to do..i kinda had to start over lots of liquids and maybe one solid a day now..but my solid is like chili or mash potatoes that are watery..i live off of yogurt and protien drinks..I LVOE THE EQUATES from walmart! the chocolat rocks! or i blend a banana with the vanilla one! YUMMY! Take care and be careful!

Hi Bronnie, One week to go ... one week to go!!! You must be so excited... Hows it all going. I didn't stick to the pre-op diet, I just changed my choices and ate low fat and has shakes at least once a day. My op went fine but I must admit I was stressing about it the night b4 wondering if I'd be ok. You'll be fine especially if he didn't advise you to do the Optifast to begin with. I'm doing better can't wait for mushies and some texture I don't think I'll ever eat ice-cream, kelly, custard or yogurt again.!!!!!! Susannah what sort of stuff did you eat for mushies and did you wait the 14 days to start them????

Kmwwmk... unfortunately I think you're just gonna have to suffer it out. I doubt there's a way to get it to digest any faster. Maybe sip water or hot tea? I think this happened because you're eating too fast. I've had yogurt and felt like I was going to explode after 6 oz and it was because I didn't eat it slow enough to give my body time to tell me STOP! I hope you feel better soon.

I think that snacking is an effective way to do it. In the past my meal plans have been a schedule of meals like: Breakfast at 7 (cereal, oatmeal) 150 cal Snack at 10 (yogurt or apple) 100 cal Lunch at noon (salad, protein) 200 cal Snack at 3 (popcorn or apple) 100 cal Dinner at 6 (protein and veggies) 300 cal Dessert at 7 (WW dessert) 140 cal Eating like this is supposed to boost your metabolism. However, I havne't been able to do this since the lapband. I try to stick to 3 meals but can't do breakfast or morning snack anymore.
