Looking for inspirational success stories from women who are 5"11
Sassygirl06 replied to Heather Meyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not 5'11", however I am 5'9" which is on the taller side for women. I started out at 315 pounds...maybe more because I stopped weighing after that number. I lost a little more before I went into see the surgeon. I am now at 170 plus or minus a few depending on the time of day, and time of month. I am 36 years old. I am currently a size 10-12 pants and a large shirt. I believe I would be in smaller clothes if it weren't for my excess skin on my tummy (from pregnancies not weight). I wear baggy clothes to cover it. I will be having a tummy tuck in September and a breast lift with augmentation in October. I consider my weightless a success story even though I did not make my original goal of 150, because I look good at the weight I am (minus the tummy). There are before and afters on my profile. I am about 10 pounds lighter now then in the after pic on there....but I can't really see much of a difference. I feel happier, healthier....and sexier...soon to feel even better after I get rid of the Freddy Kruger clawed tummy look good luck! -

I have tryed so many and can't seem to gag any of them down . I know I will have a 10 day before diet but every protein drink shot scoop makes me gag . I'm starting to worrie about this

I have never in my life shopped in the "normal" section. I have no clue what the difference between misses and petites are, or just what a size 10 falls under. I am almost more nervous about figuring all that out than getting the surgery, I guess I will have to employ the help of a " normal" size person for a "normal" shopping session!

lap band or bypass?
nina874 replied to hope2bhealthy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Hope2B, You sound just like me!! I LOVE cooking, I have a big family and I feel good just getting the pans out to feed the tribe.I have huge problems saying 'no' to myself, I too crave chocolate and crisps . I chose the band because of this not in spite of it, I couldnt face the thought of never being able to eat Christmas dinner incase I dumped or got roaring runs, of not just choosing to avoid certain foods but NEVER being able to eat them again, dont kid yourself, if you have the bypass you will be on a very very restricted diet for the rest of your life. I know me, and I know that what I CANT have is normally the thing that I want most........us girls huh, go figure! Then I thought about how miserable that would make me, and really that was it for me. I am newly banded so I cant give you the reassurance that it will get you to goal, but since 10/01/07 ( highest weight ever) I have lost 25lb and I very rarely feel hungry. Good luck with your choice and let us know how you get on. Nina x -
I've been reading in here about care credit. Apparently they loan for medical costs with no interest if pain in 10 mos.

kms2010 replied to lesia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I was banded on aug 19 and I am stilll on the liquids as well. It has been very hard but I know that it will be worth it in the long run. You have to take it one day at a time. Just think about much weight will be loss. The only uncomfort I have is where the port is located. Stay strong & positive. With all the support on the forum we all will make it!!! -

Those packets you add to water
prettylilpumpkin replied to kaytiebugs's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The Crystal Light ones are sugar free and only 10 calories per little packet. I have half a packet in one 16.9 oz bottle of water and the other half in a second 16.9 oz bottle of water. -
Its strange. I had a lot of trouble with this knee issue over last few days (quite painful at times), when just doing normal stuff. Then I did a new sprint run variation yesterday afternoon (10 segments of 3 min increments one after another (1 min 6.5 mph, 1 min 7.5 mph and 1 min 8.5 mph)) before moving onto a body weight strength workout (about an hour). My knee kind of whined a little on the first 3 min segment and then started feeling better as I did more segments. By the time I finished the running, knee felt strong as ever and no more lock ups or other knee annoyances when doing normal things non exercise related; in other words, just walking around. Weird huh? Do you think my knee was just slightly out of alignment and the running fixed it? Maybe loose cartilage moved so not rubbing. I hope it stays pain free! I really enjoy running (fast) and hope my knees last many more years.

Oh how dreadful. These fills are so fickled. I don't react until 6-10 days after a fill. I've also found that I can't tolerate a big fill, even though the barium flows right through. Time of day, weather, what you've had to drink/eat that day, etc. are all factors. Glad you got relief. Continue on liquids today to keep the swelling down. Good luck on your next attempt.

Gone For Good Club - September 2006
lookingout replied to HeatherGurl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Okay, I'm not a fan of the scale. I'm a fan of how I feel and how my clothes feel. And I know it's not Wednesday....but man! I'm having some serious personal issues lately! I've got a guy that I'm trying to get over, and wow haven't had something affect me like this since high school! So, I know I'm rambling (ah the consequences of caffeine) and I've been travelling a lot for work, and have had a rough time eating well (ie the 1200 calorie thing), but have been exercising, and.....I just weighed myself...and.... H:185 S:178 C:155 G:110! WOOT! I was 165 the last time I weighed myself in August, so I'm stoked! I'm only about 4 feet 10 inches, and pretty muscular, so I am so happy with 20# so far since my surgery april 26 06! What a way to start the weekend! I'm going to go work out! Have a great weekend peeps! -
If I get down to a size 10 (maybe I should say when-lol) I will probably faint first...then get up and dance! Amazing experience I would guess. Congrats! Keep up the great work!

Perspective On Portions
mvickyway replied to Kattastic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel like I eat "a lot" at times too. I hope it is that I am just adjusting to my new small portions since I still serve everything in a 1/2 cup size bowl or very small plate and I am 10 months out. I'd prefer that my calories be around 800-900 but they are usually 1000-1100 usually though -
I'm oficially out of the 400's yey!!! How is that even possible? 10 pounds of it came off overnight if my scale is to be believed. I did wake up completely drenched but still. That doesn't even seem realistic!

My not exactly textbook postop course so far
2goldengirl replied to 2goldengirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Aww, thanks, Babbs! As it happens, all that Fluid vamoosed in a big fat hurry. I have now lost 10 lbs since my surgery date 10 days ago. That's partly because, like most fresh post ops, I can't get in all my Protein and fluids yet. My new sleeve may have had an extra week to heal, but it hasn't had any more experience handling input than a brand-new one. It's a process. -
So I had my 3rd fill August 1, 2012. 1st fill doc took out 2 cc's of air and replaced them with 2cc's saline plus added 2 more cc's which gave me 4 cc's. 2nd fill was on July 10, and I received 2 more cc's, still no restriction! Last week my doc was going to give me 2 more, I asked for 3 he said ok. So I have a total of 9 cc's in a Realize Band that holds 14 cc's. Im not sure if my restriction is there because I have horrible pain while trying to swallow! Most times whatever I do manage to eat comes back up! Drinking water even causes discomfort sometimes...Oh and I was one of the people who did not know what PB'ing meant, I am acutely aware now...lol. So is it possible im to tight? I have also realized that small bites are.not the size bites I must take, tiny tiny bites is more like it! I think I may be a Lil to tight, honestly 8.5 is probably my lucky # because the 9 is extremely tight! Im not complaining, I was the skeptic who had Lil faith that this would even work, im a banded believer now, LOL!

Today I am regretting the heck out of wearing jeans that have been sitting in the back of my closet for over 10 years. Kidding. There could be complications. There could be excess skin. In my situation, it was worth the risk. I have a list of reasons I hated being fat. Only you can decide if it's worth the risk for you.

No real restriction here either even after my first fill. I'm at 5 cc in my 10 cc band. I'm not terribly hungry, but I can eat way too much. I've only dropped 1/2 pound in the last couple weeks. (Is this Bandster Hell?) Anyway, 2nd fill tomorrow morning. I hope to get closer to the good restriction. Take care.
