That's a great NSV. Time to do the happy dance in your new jeans! Don't forget to shower yourself with praises. good job -
I'm only 10 days out but lost some weight before surgery and over 10 lbs since. Clothes have started to hang on me so I thought I would go through my dresser and closet before having to go back to work next week. Result - 4 big garbage bags of clothes that no longer fit and will go to charity; my lose is their gain, lol. Fortunately I saved quite a bit of my "smaller" stuff always hoping I could get back into them someday. Well, some day is here. My only complaint is everything is shrinking at different rates and my upper arms are being the stubbornest! Hopefully I can do this again after another 25 lbs and then I'll actually have to go clothes shopping . . . in the misses section. Yeah!!!

I started my journey at 268 lbs and today I am 170 lbs. my survey was 9/11/14. It has been awesome. My energy level. My ability to just move. Yesterday I went to Old navy and tried on a size 12 pair of jeans and they were to big. I am happy to say. I walked out with the size 10. I have never been able to fit a size 10. My next NSV will be running the Susan Koman 5k here in Philadelphia this Mother's Day. I thank God everyday for giving me the courage to decide to have this surgery.

Raedelicious - it is addictive, isn't it? I started the Couch to 5K Program this month and found I love running too. I'd never have guessed it. Congrats on your NSV!!! That's HUGE!!!

Today I have celebrated my first exercise NSV. I have had to ride the bike before the surgery due to pain in my knees, back, and feet. After a class at the gym, I decided to get on a treadmill. I only did 15 minutes, but 5 minutes of it was jogging at 4.5 mph...the other 10 minutes I walked at 3.5 mph or more. I think I might want to become a jogger/runner...I think that will be a new goal...not weight related, but exercise related. Holy crap, did I just say that?

Well, on the NSV front, I put on some hand-me-down size 40 waistband jeans today, and I was stunned to find out that they fit. Now, they're a little long for me (I'm only 6'1 and the guy these were from was 6'3) so I'll probably have to hem them, but I'm just tickled pink that they FIT. Four months ago, I was wearing size 48 waistband. Also my weight was down to 264.9 today; creeping down towards the 250's. A month or so ago, visiting the nutritionist, I was "joking" that I'd like to break 250 by the end of September. I may not quite hit that goal, but I'll probably be in the 250's, which is something I can't say in recent memory! Also I was thinking that I might be wearing jeans under a 40-inch waistband by the end of the year; at this rate, I should be firmly in 38's (if not 36's!) by the end of fall! What kills me is that for NORMAL men, 250 pounds and 40-inch jeans are still horrifically huge, but I have to keep reminding myself that it's not a competition. Edit: ah, I see that I've also cracked the 35 BMI barrier. Another first (in adult memory)!

Four NSV's in One Day
steph2012 replied to HealthyNewMe's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats. That's a lot of NSV's in one day - isn't it great!?! -
So this was an unexpected nsv. I was trying to get in my car in a parking garage and the car next to me parked so close to the driver side that I couldn't even open the door. I went to the passenger side and crawled in and over the gear shift to get into the driver seat. NO PROBLEMS. Before there is no way I could have maneuvered my body across and over, now it was a piece of cake. So maybe I really am smaller.

This is the best NSV ever!! Happy tears!!!!

Hi Everyone! It is finally pleasant in NY so my family and I decided to take a trip to the city. While at Central Park I had the best time of my life. I was able to run around with my 6 year old daughter. We climbed rocks, we rode a carousal, and walked a lot! I was not tired and body felt great! It was just excellent. Furthermore, my daughter took a picture of me and when I looked at it I barely recognized myself! What a great, great day! Before and today. 3 and a half months later.

7 months and a size....what
AvaFern replied to Healthy_life2's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Go you! That is so funny that we both just posted the same NSV. You look fantastic! -
So it has been a year. To the day. Wow! Just…wow. Progress has been steady. Had a slip up but I am back on track. I think there for a little while I felt bullet proof, you know? Nine months out and I was doing well. I have an additional metabolism issue (genetic) that I knew I would not be the high end loser, so I was comfortable with my loss. I had a foot injury, couldn’t run for a long time, couldn’t do as much of what I normally do as often…and let some bad habits creep in as I dealt with inactivity (inactivity = boredom for me). Holidays were approaching and I was really feeling the loss of my Mom (My Mom passed away a week after my surgery, unexpectedly). So I slipped. Then I caught myself and got right back up again. My “last diet” began in January of 2011…I lost some after months of trying, kept it off a little, and about the same time it began to creep back on I was diagnosed with a tumor in my stomach lining – call it serendipity or what you will…I had to have a lot of my tummy removed anyway, I had lost weight I did not want to put back on, and long story short: “last diet” 1/2011, diagnosed w/tumor 10/2011, sleeved 1/4/2012. I was self-pay more than insurance covered anything, because the insurance argued I could get the tumor removed endoscopically, grrrr…but oh well and bills, bills, bills later (paid but disputing a balance w/ with my insurance) sleeved…and I would pay so much more, in hindsight. It has been a crazy journey, so many NSV, so much rediscovering myself….I am nowhere near done. Support from this group has been so important… I am back into everything I missed, trying new things, and there is something about this – doing this now – it is like I am discovering a whole new me. At 39 years old, I am coming “into my own” at the same time I am adapting to my new body…it blows my mind still… Size 14 for now…will maybe try for 10, but 12 would be great. At 5’10” and built like a linebacker, rather than a ballerina it’s a good size for me. Wish me perseverance, and strength - and the same to you all… God Bless. Namaste. Always.

Reached My First Goal Today!
besquared1426 replied to MiTurner247's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That's a great NSV. I look forward to the day when I can wear mine again, too. -
I've made the first cut for a new position and the hiring committee is conducting interviews over the next two days. Because I'm currently overseas, I was offered two choices for the interview: conference call or Skype session. Six months ago I'd have opted for the no-visual conference call, thinking it would up my chances of being selected if they couldn't see how overweight I was and just go by my professional qualifications. But this time? I jumped on the chance to have the on-camera interview. Got my hair done, put on a great suit and jewelry, and feel confident that where I am weightwise will not dissuade the committee from pushing my candidacy forward. NSV! Even if I don't make the next round, or if I decide the job/move isn't a good fit for me and my family, I've already won this one by turning on that camera.

Great NSV

Honestly, this made me cry. Part of the reason I wanted to have the sleeve is to be more active with my kids. My son's school has a 5k every year and last year he asked if I would run it with him in 2012 (April). I couldn't have even walked it before, much less ran it! I am doing c25k now and loving it. My sweetest NSV of all time is going to be crossing that finish line with my little man. So glad you got to experience that with your son and thankful that you shared it with us.
