Need to get serious about exercise, AGAIN.

I got 30 min in on the stationary bike today. Off topic: NSV - being able to throw all my clothes into the dryer and not worry about anything shrinking too much For as long as I can remember, I've always had to hang dry my jeans or some of my sweats for fear that they would be too tight to wear.

    NSV

I never, ever thought I would reach this NSV before I was even 2 months post-op, but I'll definitely take it! Today I was taken completely off of my blood pressure medicine. The day of my first fill, my blood pressure was 95/53. Well, that sure explained my light headedness! I saw my primary physican the next day and still had a very low reading, so he decided to cut my dose in half. He instructed me to record my blood pressure 2 times a day for several days and I still never got a reading above 103/68. Today, my physician told me that there is no smaller dose and to stop taking it completely. I am supposed to keep monitoring it twice a day and report my readings on Thursday. I pray that it stays normal and needless to say, I am definitely doing the happy dance. ( / ) ( l ) ( \ ) ( l ) ( / ) ( l ) ( \ )
  3. Hey all thought I would give a quick up date... On my offical weigh day, I weighed the same, no loss , no gain... my measurements were to same too... so I guess my stall is still with me. What I have no come to accept, again, is that these stalls are par for the course with me (and many others) and it is something that I am just gonna have to get used to. I HAVE to get to my goal weight, I HAVE to do this... the whole reason for spending the money and having major surgery is to get fit and have a longer and healthier life. I suppose I have to accept that this is going to take a long time... but I will get there. I think that the stall might be hormonal... my cycle is a mess, both before and after surgery... I am going to monitor it and if I need to I will go see my doc. ANY HOW... I thought I would share a NSV with you all...on the weekend I bought a pair of calf length boots.... OMG... I could put them on and DO THE ZIP ALL THE WAY UP TO THE TOP... I haven't been able to do that for nearly 20 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *dances hysterically around the room8 This means, that I can now wear them with a skirt or dress... Check me out ...lol I really don't understand my body and how it works, but I love my new boots... =]

    Latest NSV

    Congratulations! I love NSV's.
  5. Hi All I think I like the NSV over the scale victories yesterday I put on some size 16 jeans that use to be tight they were so loose I could put them on and take them off easily without unbuttoning!
  6. NSV!!! I had to go to a Xmas party (one of those that is work related) but I didn't have any nice clothes in my current size -- a friend loaned me her size 18s and I had something to wear! What is the NSV you might ask?? I BORROWED CLOTHES FROM A FRIEND! I haven't done that since college (over 25 years ago!!) whoo whoo!

    I'm here to help...

Hey Phyl, never heard of a "Mob party" but anything with the word party in it sounds fun to me! Apples....man does it sound cold where you live, I just love the winters here, 30 min from pine trees and snow. I get to look at it and not live in it! LauraK...The walks have been going really good, yesterday afternoon was the first afternoon I took off in about nine days! Then today I will be back at it morning and afternoon! Yeah, I had a nsv.....I fit into a pair of wranglers that were toooooo small! And my belly did not hang over when I zipped them up! I just get so excited and happy.....walk a little taller and smile at strangers a little more...well, because I'm feeling good in my wranglers! Charlene----sending a prayer your way! Today my sis is coming over and staying for dinner, I'm making meatloaf and a salad. yum, yum. Well everyone, take care, drive safe, eat right, and sleep well..(that just about covers it) oh yeah, get up and move!

    Starting Zumba

I've been doing Zumba a few times a week for a while... and I'm by no means skinny. Gyms and exercise classes are not just for skinny folks. If you find a gym that has that attitude.. change gyms!! Zumba is lots of fun. And depending on the instructor and the type of Zumba class you take, the intensity can vary greatly. There's regular Zumba, Zumba Gold (designed for lower impact), Aqua Zumba (Zumba done in the pool), etc. I'm like Hynita, I modify the steps to what I can comfortably do.. and as I get stronger, I try to do more. When the instructor Jumps, I usually jog or march in place. When they do a side step with twisting the knees.. I just side step and don't twist. The important part is to move the body and have fun!! One of the instructors where I go has even bought hip scarves with the little coins on them for one of the songs which is from "Sumdog Millionaire" "Jai-Ho (You are my Destiny " The scarf meets in the middle on the other gals, but not me. Oh well, I'll use that as a NSV when it does meet!! This isn't the class I attend, but it's the same choreography that my instructor uses: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r43YzeBfWug LOVE this routine. I encourage you to go and give it a try.. it's so much fun. Like the Zumba site says.. Ditch the Workout, Join the Party! (I still workout too though.. lol).

20 years old, never had a boyfriend.

I get butterflies in my stomach just thinking about YOU both having your first kiss. What an NSV (nonscale victory) that will be!

    Waking Up Feeling GOOD! NSV!!!

Yay congrats! Thats a great NSV
  11. How's this for a non-scale victory? When I woke up this morning, I felt absolutely great! That never used to happened. Now it happens all the time. My mood is terrific, I have energy, my stomach feels flat(er), I even feel taller. Before getting the band, I was very nervous. I had serious fears and doubts about it, so I googled "band" + "regret". I got a bunch of results of people posting "My only regret is that I didn't get it sooner!" And now, that's exactly how I feel. I love you Lap-Band!

    15 MORE DAYS!!!

Hi there Mari, and welcome to VST!!! The time will absolutely fly by, and before you know it you'll be laying on your back, staring up at the bright OR lights and fade to black... lol!!! It's ok, when you wake up your tummy will be gone and you will be SO THANKFUL!! Re: Loose skin. Yeah likely you will have *some*. Everyone's skin retracts differently. However, I always say - I can hide the loose skin, or the surgery scars for that matter. I have yet to find ANYONE who can hide obesity!! I never was able to... You will more than likely experience stalls. I think there are only a very small handful that have not had to deal with this. I've had a few short ones myself, by about a week long or so. To be really honest though, there has always been a reason for it. I either just had to wait it out or make a few changes. You just need to stay focused and keep doing the right thing and the scale will cooperate with you eventually. ...and finally the permanent aspect. Well, I'll tell you - I had the "reversible" WLS as well. I think too many go into that surgery knowing this and use it as an excuse to blow it off. You can't blow this off! I'll never do anything so major knowing I can go back on it. It's too big a deal. Besides, no surgery is 100% reversible anyway. You will always be left with scars, scar tissue on the inside and sometimes even worse. Do not let those few things dissuade you! I'll even go as far to say you may even have a few moments of regret. I did!!! I won't lie - it was right after surgery and I was feeling so awful and I wondered what the heck I did to myself. But you know what? That feeling fades really fast!!! Every time I step on the scale, someone compliments my losses, I'm wearing smaller clothes or I have a great NSV - I'm ever more thankful! Good luck!!!
  13. Maybe a NSV? My mom hugged me yesterday and immediately felt my port. It freaked her out a bit. LOL Before you had to DIG for it, now I can place my hand over it and feel it. It's pretty cool knowing that though the scale isn't moving as fast as I'd like the inches ARE coming off. :)

    Mini-victory Today

what an inspiration. I am losing slowly and am scheduled for my first fill in two weeks and I love to hear about NSV's that other people are having! Great job!
  15. Congrats on your lost so far! I too am a slow loser and do get frustrated that I am not losing as fast as I think that I should. I have had my husband hide the scale from me since I was very down on myself when I would weigh several times a day. The scale has been gone for a week now and I dont even think about wanting the weigh myself. Just focus on the nsv's and keep your eye on the prize!

    NSVs for me

Thanks all! I think it has been close to 20 years since I actually weighed my driver's license weight! Oh and another NSV is my husband the other day he told me that he keeps gushing over how proud he is and how great I look to the point of looking stupid not to mention WLS works better then viagra(BG) mp8btpc my surgery was 8/24/10 so I am right behind you.
  17. Hi All, So I had 3 NSV today week actually two one is technically a SV. Today I took my blood pressure and it was 93/69 no meds. My BMI is finally below 30 and now I officially weigh what is on my driver's license! 160
  18. I think the NSV moments are worth far more than the scale moving.

    NSV, NSV, NSV for Me!

Wow, what a great NSV! I am so happy for you and excited that you got to share in that moment with your hubby as well.
  21. So, it's no secret on here that I'm a Black Friday Fan. Yesterday, we decided to go to the Outlet Mall around 3:00. We did some shopping & got some great deals. We were walking past Coldwater Creek and my husband suggested we go in. (Most items were 60-70% off lowest price!) So we did and I grabbed a few items in Small and a few things in Medium. Went to the dressing room and discovered, that everything I picked out was too big! My husband was a big help and kept running around the store finding smaller sizes. The Sales Woman gave me that "crazy girl" look - apparently, I was grinning from ear to ear and floating around the dressing room. I finally told her that I was an 18W in January and now wearing all 4's and 6's. I also shared about my surgery. She gave me an impulsive gigantic hug and almost started crying. So, I just had to share. I don't believe I wear 4's in most stores, but yesterday, I didn't care. My closet now has size 4 hanging in it. And by the way ... my husband had so much fun shopping with me, we bought over $200 worth of clothing and he didn't even blink an eye. I got 14 peices of clothes including dresses, skirts, vests, etc. I am so excited. Who ever thought the fat chick would need the smallest size a store sold??????? :)
  22. Now I know who to call if my cat gets stuck in a tree!! Really great NSV, congrats!
  23. BIG GIANT NSV!!!!!!!!! Ok, so... on my way home from surgery I stopped at some clothing stores to buy some new outfits. Something I knew was too small. Well I was looking thru them and pulled out a super cute brown dress. I tried it on to see how it fit... AND IT FITS!!! It's a size L -- and I'm sooo wearing it tomorrow... YEAHHHH!!!!!

  24. That is an awesome NSV! Thank you for bringing a huge smile to my face. Keep up the great work and keep us posted. Lily
