    Serious Contemplation

Thanks again for all the support ladies! I really enjoy this site. M2G you're awesome! Well I called my surgeons office and spoke to the lady who works with the insurance companies and manages the surgery scheduling. She's really cool and down to earth (and has the same bday as me...lol) and she told me which of the 2 new surgeons I should go with and actually told me she thought I would REALLY like him and get along with him so that reassured me. She set up a meeting with him in a couple weeks so I can ask all my questions and make myself more comfortable. So I feel much better about the surgery. On another note I've RE-dedicated myself to my diet and maintaining healthy eating habits. I've been on a roller coaster over the last few weeks with my family issues and work and the holidays. But I'm refocused now. I'm going to continue doing 2 Protein shakes a day and one sensible meal. My other issue was that since I started working out, I get SOOOO hungry at night!! I'm eating nonstop and not always the good stuff. But I am not combatting that with drinking more Water and staying out of the kitchen! LOL. And I had my trainer weigh me last night. After 4 weeks of working out, I actually gained 5lbs. BUT I know its my fault because of my poor eating. BUT....I lost 4 inches in my chest and 4 inches in my waist and hips. AND I gained an inch in my biceps so if anyone wants to see the GUN SHOW, I'll be selling tickets soon!! LMAO!! Can we say NSV?? This is motivation to continue my workouts but also get back into my diet. I'm FOCUSED!! LOL. I may even have to post some before and after pics so show off my sexy. But I promise to keep them G rated!
  3. I feel like I am posting a lot, but I just had to share a few more victories! I hope everyone isn't getting sick of all my posts So, tonight I figured out how much weight I have lost in a percentage. I have lost 20% of my body weight!!!!!!!!! That is so awesome to think of it that way, and I am only a little over 2 months post-op. Not sure if this is NSV or not, but it shows that I am getting healthier everyday. For probably 2.5 years, I did not have a period. Instead, I would bleed ALL the time. It was horrible!!! I went to a GYN but felt like she blew me off. She put me on meds which made me want to kill someone so I stopped taking them. I just put up with it for tooooooo long! So, after surgery, I stopped bleeding for a while and I was SOOOOO excited. Then, I started to bleed again after a few weeks. It was horrible heavy. I almost went to the ER it was so bad one day. Then, it stopped again after 6-7 days like a normal period. Then, I didn't have any bleeding for 30 days!!!! WOOOOHOOOO. I had a normal period this week that lasted about 6 days, and it wasn't heavy like last time. Sorry if this is TMI, but I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited. I went to a new GYNO before surgery, and she didn't know if I had something going on or if it was just because of my weight. She said sometimes you can bleed because people with more fat produce more estrogen and that makes you bleed non-stop. Not sure what it was, but pretty sure its nothing serious or nothing I need to take any meds for!! I think my body is finally getting back to normal!!!!!!!! :) :) Oh yah, I guess this is another NSV. I have been off my BP meds since a few weeks post-op, and no more diuretics either! I don't have pitting edema in my legs anymore Gosh, so much is happening so soon after surgery, and I am still very overweight at 296 pounds.... wonder how great it will be when I get to goal!?!?!?!

    WOOHOOO!!!!!!

Congratulations! What a great NSV to have.
  5. I had a lil NSV yesterday. I was able to tie my sneakers by putting my knees up to my chest.. like a skinny person!! Yay me!

    Hey...If The Shoe Fits!

GOOD NEWS ! ! ! Feet shrink too. At least mine have, and they've shrunk tremendously. I wore a solid 8-8.5W pre-op, today I wear a comfortable 7 (normal width). I think the only reason I need an 8-8.5 is because my foot was wide like a wooden boat, I also have flat feet, with a high instep so to squeeze my "Fred Flintstone" feet, as my lovely husband calls them (how I'd like to strangle him), into decent shoes I needed the extra length to accommodate the fatness of my feet. One of my most profound NSVs: Being able to see all the tiny bones in my feet, and to have space in between my toes without spreading out my toes. I had little sausages for toes, now their boney and I actually have toenails that look good polished LOL ! ! !
  7. Yay I love these, especially because the scale hasn't been moving much. First like some of you have mentioned sex is soooo much better, not only because I've lost some weight but also because I feel more confident in myself...that's the biggest NSV I think. Confidence is something I haven't had in a VERY long time. I took a spin class and kicked its ass! I rocked at it, I know I would've never been able to do it before. My clothes fit differently now, my tops are baggy and my jeans just slide off....no need to unbutton anything. I am starting to wear cute workout clothes, LOL I guess that's the confidence thing again, but no more big long shirts. my mom put her arm around me and said "what the hell is that?" I touched where she had her hand and it was my port. OMG you can feel my port by just pressing down a bit, before you had to DIG for it. I'm wearing heels again, no hooker 6 inchers yet but I'm wearing 2-3 inches at work ALL DAY Boots that I bought a couple of years ago "in hopes to one day wear" fit up my calves...a little tight but they fit!!!

    NSV

I was so proud of myself today. I got professional pictures taken I HATE getting pictures taken, but I wanted to do this so bad. I am going to make my Christmas cards out of one of these pictures, probably #8. If anyone has a favorite, please let me know. I let my sister take a picture of me the other day which was a huge step for me, and now I did this! YEAH! Maybe I will do it again June 8th.... it will be my 33rd birthday and Izzy's (fawn boxer) 6th birthday! I don't like looking at these pictures because I still have so much to lose, but I can't imagine what I would have looked like 72 pounds higher! I need to be happy about that 72 I have lost so far. Hopefully by next Christmas I will be to my goal weight! http://smilestore.picturepeople.com/PR3/Orderpage.aspx?pi=YH4C07EP000000&po=0&pc=15

    Sorta NSV or Not

That is an awesome NSV for sure. Holy cow your own mother didn't recognize you! Congrats
  11. I was laying down and yelled at my husband to run over because i thought i had a tumor in my abdomen................I grabbed his hand and put it on the hard spot of my abdomen........he laughed and said "those are your ribs"! HAHAHA!! The other nsv is: When I went home for thanksgiving, I raided my sister's closer and took everything she doesn't use. I grabbed a size 16 jacket and thought well someday. I put it on this morning and don't look like a total sausage! It doesn't quite button all the way, but hey definately an improvement compared to those size 28 shorts i had to wear this past summer!!!

    Sorta NSV or Not

Oh that is definitely an NSV!!! Your own MOM didn't recognize you... WOW!!! Now as far as the hair comment, well isn't that just like a Mom? She's just showing her concern. Congratulations!!
  14. Well during thanksgiving i had my mom come to San Antonio (she is from Canada) for 1 week. I went to pick her up at the airport. I haven't seen my mom for 3 years. She knew I had the sleeve done, but didn't believe me that it would work. . .sooooooooooo when she got to the airport, she walked right past me. . . I grabbed the coffee i had for her and went galloping after her. . .MOM I yell, well she turns around and after hugs she says "Is this really you?" Really? Please don't lose anymore weight and what happened to your hair? You used to have such thick beautiful hair". . . .well I just brushed the comments away and told her I was so happy to see her. . . that was that . . . the visit went well though and I didn't have thoughts of sending her back via FEDEX this time!

    NSV

That's fantastic! I know how excited I was to get off my blood pressure, diebetes and high cholesterol meds. It's a great NSV!
  16. sleevesearch

Need to get serious about exercise, AGAIN.

I got 30 min in on the stationary bike today. Off topic: NSV - being able to throw all my clothes into the dryer and not worry about anything shrinking too much For as long as I can remember, I've always had to hang dry my jeans or some of my sweats for fear that they would be too tight to wear.

    NSV

I never, ever thought I would reach this NSV before I was even 2 months post-op, but I'll definitely take it! Today I was taken completely off of my blood pressure medicine. The day of my first fill, my blood pressure was 95/53. Well, that sure explained my light headedness! I saw my primary physican the next day and still had a very low reading, so he decided to cut my dose in half. He instructed me to record my blood pressure 2 times a day for several days and I still never got a reading above 103/68. Today, my physician told me that there is no smaller dose and to stop taking it completely. I am supposed to keep monitoring it twice a day and report my readings on Thursday. I pray that it stays normal and needless to say, I am definitely doing the happy dance. ( / ) ( l ) ( \ ) ( l ) ( / ) ( l ) ( \ )
  18. Hey all thought I would give a quick up date... On my offical weigh day, I weighed the same, no loss , no gain... my measurements were to same too... so I guess my stall is still with me. What I have no come to accept, again, is that these stalls are par for the course with me (and many others) and it is something that I am just gonna have to get used to. I HAVE to get to my goal weight, I HAVE to do this... the whole reason for spending the money and having major surgery is to get fit and have a longer and healthier life. I suppose I have to accept that this is going to take a long time... but I will get there. I think that the stall might be hormonal... my cycle is a mess, both before and after surgery... I am going to monitor it and if I need to I will go see my doc. ANY HOW... I thought I would share a NSV with you all...on the weekend I bought a pair of calf length boots.... OMG... I could put them on and DO THE ZIP ALL THE WAY UP TO THE TOP... I haven't been able to do that for nearly 20 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *dances hysterically around the room8 This means, that I can now wear them with a skirt or dress... Check me out ...lol I really don't understand my body and how it works, but I love my new boots... =]

    Latest NSV

    Congratulations! I love NSV's.
  20. Hi All I think I like the NSV over the scale victories yesterday I put on some size 16 jeans that use to be tight they were so loose I could put them on and take them off easily without unbuttoning!
  21. NSV!!! I had to go to a Xmas party (one of those that is work related) but I didn't have any nice clothes in my current size -- a friend loaned me her size 18s and I had something to wear! What is the NSV you might ask?? I BORROWED CLOTHES FROM A FRIEND! I haven't done that since college (over 25 years ago!!) whoo whoo!

    I'm here to help...

Hey Phyl, never heard of a "Mob party" but anything with the word party in it sounds fun to me! Apples....man does it sound cold where you live, I just love the winters here, 30 min from pine trees and snow. I get to look at it and not live in it! LauraK...The walks have been going really good, yesterday afternoon was the first afternoon I took off in about nine days! Then today I will be back at it morning and afternoon! Yeah, I had a nsv.....I fit into a pair of wranglers that were toooooo small! And my belly did not hang over when I zipped them up! I just get so excited and happy.....walk a little taller and smile at strangers a little more...well, because I'm feeling good in my wranglers! Charlene----sending a prayer your way! Today my sis is coming over and staying for dinner, I'm making meatloaf and a salad. yum, yum. Well everyone, take care, drive safe, eat right, and sleep well..(that just about covers it) oh yeah, get up and move!

    Starting Zumba

I've been doing Zumba a few times a week for a while... and I'm by no means skinny. Gyms and exercise classes are not just for skinny folks. If you find a gym that has that attitude.. change gyms!! Zumba is lots of fun. And depending on the instructor and the type of Zumba class you take, the intensity can vary greatly. There's regular Zumba, Zumba Gold (designed for lower impact), Aqua Zumba (Zumba done in the pool), etc. I'm like Hynita, I modify the steps to what I can comfortably do.. and as I get stronger, I try to do more. When the instructor Jumps, I usually jog or march in place. When they do a side step with twisting the knees.. I just side step and don't twist. The important part is to move the body and have fun!! One of the instructors where I go has even bought hip scarves with the little coins on them for one of the songs which is from "Sumdog Millionaire" "Jai-Ho (You are my Destiny " The scarf meets in the middle on the other gals, but not me. Oh well, I'll use that as a NSV when it does meet!! This isn't the class I attend, but it's the same choreography that my instructor uses: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r43YzeBfWug LOVE this routine. I encourage you to go and give it a try.. it's so much fun. Like the Zumba site says.. Ditch the Workout, Join the Party! (I still workout too though.. lol).
