    Help!

You are going to be fine :-) I literally felt like so was killing myself once I got home from the hospital an wanted absolutely nothing to do with food or drinking. It was a chore for sure to drink and do anything. I cried a few times myself and wondered if I made a huge mistake. I was getting dehydrated because I couldn't drink much or just didn't want it. But I pushed through and did what I could. I was role for the first 2 weeks to not even stress about the protein it's basically impossible that early to get it all in cuz you are healing and swollen. Just rest and try your best to stay hydrated. I promise at 4 weeks it's a turning point for most. It was for me. Once I got passed purée food it was even better. Hang in tree and take it one day at a time one day I promise you will feel " normal" again.

    Help!

I tried the Isopur drinks too & poured them out. Fortunately I only bought 3. I had to take an antibiotic that made me very nauseated. I bought unjury chicken broth. It settled my stomach & I got in some of my Protein allotment. You can only use hot Water that doesn't exceed 140 degrees because the powder will lump. I suggest you use whatever blender you have to mix the water & powder. I used a wisk & I had lumps. I have the small Ninja & it works well. Believe me, it gets easier. I'm 11 weeks out & very happy I had the Sleeve surgery. I'm wearing clothes that haven't seen the light of day in 3 or 4 years. I've already filled a trash bag with clothes to big to wear & sent it to Goodwill. Yay!!

    fills and flying

Hi, I have flown an average of once a week since being banded, and during that time, I have had 11 fills. I have yet to have a problem due to the altitude change of the plane taking off and landing. However, I was extremely tight after going from the mountains and then spending a week on the ocean. It was just tighter than it should be. It was nice to simply not be able to participate in those hyper-fattening buffets on the cruise ship. Good luck to you, as I know we all react differently.
  7. :help: Hi there, i was hoping some of you may be able to help me before i ring up my doctor and sound like a paranoid whinger! A week ago i got my first fill, now i dont know how much i got put in because he didnt tell me and i forgot to ask. now a few days later i am experiencing throwing up ( only once so far but feeling a second one coming on as i am writing this) and feel all weak and flustered. :cry Im also worried to eat now aswell as that was the case the first time when i threw up.I am still drinking water though. does anyone know what it may be. im not over eating and im not doing anything abnormal than what i have been since i had the band put in about 5 weeks ago!! :help:
  8. Phili like others have said a fill can take a week to kick in propley you are still new to the band and getting use to it.....its not going to be the same as before you had your fill the other night i had a real bad vomiting episode.....like im talking 6 times i just couldnt stop throwing up.....the reason i think it happened was because i cooked a roast and was nibbling on the punpkin which had alot of fat on it...the fat mustv blocked it up and thats why i threw up so many times cause i kept nibbling. I was worried after that and didnt eat for a day i just had liquids.....then 2 days later i started back on solids and havent had a problem since:) if you can keep your Water down you shouldnt be to tight maybe you didnt chew the food enuf without realising cause having a fill is different to having no fill if your still worried call Peter hope your feeling betta:)

    How long were your stalls?

I don't know that there is a typical duration. Our bodies are so different and constantly changing through this process that there is no really predictable rate of weight loss. You may notice rapid physical changes when the scale isn't moving. Just follow your plan and stay off the scale if it is driving you crazy. http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  10. I'm 2 months post op. I'm losing weight as I should, right on schedule, 34 lbs. I'm working out and drinking my water. That said, I feel amazing and have started to eat like I used to in social situations (not nearly as much or as often). A chip or two here, a bite of dessert there, and this past weekend was my 30th birthday so I had a few drinks, chips and dessert. The nurse practitioner told me everyday is a new day and to start over but I've been doing this, snacking a bit and what not for a few weeks and it's become a habit. I will not regain this weight and I want to have healthy life long habits but I'm falling hard into old habits. Advice? Help? Please!
  11. Hi Dee1402' I will private message you but just wanted to wish you well. I had some trouble with my drain as well and my second week was not as good as the first , I think it was because I was alone in the day. Best wishes, RoseSA

    Pre-Op'ers and Food

I just spent the last 5 hours going thru both Target and GNC familiarizing myself with their products and what they have to offer my baby when I bring her home. It's very overwhelming. I have 5 different types of Protein shakes to try but I'm not doing that until AFTER because I know my tastes will change. Purchased liquid multi Vitamins and liquid D (I'm deficient) and the sub-lingual B12. I know I'll need more vitamins, but I have 2 weeks to get it all together. I do plan on having everything ready for when I get home. I don't want this to be a labor intensive process for my family, I want it to be as smooth a transition as possible for them. I'm searching for topics that hit on what others did to prepare for this, so I'm really hoping to be totally prepared. Thank you for pointing this out though, I'd hate to think that someone didn't cover this important part of the process.

  15. How long did it take you to lose 100 lbs? MK1986 the common thing all sleevers "share" is that we are all different if someone has more weight to lose - the weight initially usually comes off quicker same way if you don't have that much to lose, it "might" take you longer to get to your goal in my case i wanted to lose 100 lbs in about 9 months i had lost about 85 lbs it took me 3 months to lose the last 15 lbs - but i did it!!!! don't look too far ahead take one day at a time enjoy each day, even thought you will have the common stalls you will continue to lose your weight but..........never compare your weight loss to others you are on your way to a healthier, happier, longer life good luck kathy "God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It"
  16. I am a few days away from my 6 month anniversary of my Sleeve. I have lost 94 pounds and have about 12 pounds to go to reach my original goal. I have been hovering right at my current weight for about 2 weeks now, and I am fluctuating a pound up or down from my current weight. I am still eating right and exercising as much as before, but I just can't get past my current weight. Am I done losing??? I know 94 pounds is a lot of weight loss and everyone tells me I am looking and doing exceptionally well, but I really want to reach my goal of 12 more pounds. Am I being unrealistic about the 12 pounds? Should I just accept that 94 pounds lost might be it for me? I know 94 pounds is nothing to sneeze at, but up til now, I have been accustomed to stepping on the scale and seeing a loss in weight. It is freaking me out to see the same weight, and sometimes a pound more, especially knowing how hard I am trying. Signed, Not sure if I should be sad or glad...........

    Afraid.....

The really great thing about the sleeve is it has freed me from the control of food. I have had a really bad week and not once did I turn to food for comfort. It was the farthest thing from my mind, heck I even skipped dinner a couple nights, (ya that kind of bad). Don't get too sad about food, you will eat pretty much anything you want again, just not in the quantity you do now.
  18. If I could, I would be dancing in the streets of my neighborhood! (it's pouring rain with thunder and lightning) screaming "yea for me yea for me"!! I just learned that my insurance co. UHC, approved me after less than a week of having my paperwork. My surgeon's office did everything! I have a date of November 10th...exactly one month after my 42 birthday. What more could I ever ask for??? I am so excited, thrilled, scared and blessed....all at the same time. Here I am, on the road back to the me I use to be...just older and wiser! Anne

    Pain

I had my surgery Dec. 8th and a week out I felt lousy and wondered if I had made a mistake but then I turned the corner in week 2 and things have gone really well since then. So happy I made this decision.

    Nutrition plan share away.

My first week was clear liquids so I used premier protein (my surgeon allowed this as an exception to the clear rule), and ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrate. My second week was full liquids (which also included Greek yogurt and cottage cheese). I also used ProtiDiet creamy chicken and tomato basil soup.
  21. The peer-reviewed evidence is shaky on "pro-biotics." However, I have been drinking kombucha from about 3 weeks out, and I've rarely had intestinal issues. I make my own, but occasionally but GTs brand. While the benefits are questionable, there are definitely no drawbacks. Lots of good organic acids in komucha, so that is how I roll :-)

Dont let Doubts get you before the surgery

I know how you felt with everyone eating around you and not being able to eat the same thing as them. I was on a 2-week liquid diet around labor day. What a time to be on a liquid diet. It sucked! but I did it and now I can basically just walk away from it (for now). But still I would kill for a nice piece of fried chicken. :-)

    Pain

Being a guy, we never think anything is going to hurt until it happens and then we are going, "I didn't know this would hurt". My first week was pretty miserable but I walked and kept increasing my walking. By the second week I felt a lot better and completely better by the third.

    Is It Weird?

I was given what diet I should follow for the week and the day before surgery in a notebook that was given to me at my first visit so you may want to check any materials that you were given just in case. I was also told that the surgery center would call me the day before to tell me what time to arrive. I got a call from the surgery center a few days before surgery to go over the meds that I was taking and asked about my surgery time then,

    I ate like a pig

I don't know what is wrong with me but sometimes I just don't want to acknowledge that I have the band and want to eat what I want and how much I want. Well yesterday was the day. I had some jalepeno rings with half a salad for lunch. 4 ribs, a bowl of soup for dinner. About 5 hours later there was a taco bell commercial and I craved a spicy bean burrito. So we went to taco bell and I got 2 of them thinking I would eat one and put the other one in the fridge for tomorrow. Boy was I wrong. I ate both of them. I hadn't had taco bell since before I had surgery and they tasted so good. I didn't know I could hold that much. Some days it is like I can eat 1/2 cup and be full and then other days I can eat like a pig and no one would ever suspect I had weight loss surgery. If I had to do it again, I would have had the gastric bypass where you lose a lot of weight right away and then just maintain. Where when you have the band it is like a diet that you are being put on and the weight slowly creeps off. I don't want to minimize the surgery by any means but I thought the weight would come off alot easier than it is. My mother had surgery and she lost 140 lbs in the first year and a half. It was like the weight just fell off her. I'm here struggling to get even a lb off. I only go on a binge every once in a while about once every 2 weeks. And then I watch what I eat and exercise as much as I can after that day. Sometimes I do weights and 15 min on the elliptical and sometimes it is a challenge for me to do 8 min on the elliptical. I never know what my body will allow me to do. I take a prescription diet pill that gives me energy and I thought that would help and it does help curb my appetite but it is at night after it has warn off is when I have the biggest problems. I don't have any strategies on how to control this. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them. My life is just floating along. My husband and I have a vacation to Vegas scheduled for Aug 29th and I want to lose 26 lbs by then so I know I need to try hard to do this. I know it won't be easy but hopefully it will happen. I have a ton of clothes for vacation and if I can't fit in them I will be very depressed. I'm in a 22-24 now and my clothes are a size 18. I know I can do this because my jean size has gone down to a 20 and fit comfortably. Just wish me luck and I hope everyone out there meets their goal as well.
