    Late June Sleeve Buddies?

I need one of those cards... I picked up a number of flavors of Chobani yogurt (believe it or not never really had yogurt in the past) and will be doing a taste test later today... Getting sick of drinking stuff but I'm only another week until puréed, then soft foods after that so progress is progress either way. @@popoop penny, hang in there this whole thing is a process. It gets better, I promise. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal app -- it's great!

Almost 3 months post op.. Down 64 pounds!

I walk 14 miles a day working at a hospital, but aside from that, I do elliptical 25 minutes, I do butterfly press (reps and weights vary), I do bike 25 minutes, stair master 25 minutes, and go back to work for cool down. That's it. I stretch at home a lot. Drink Powerade zero and Vitamin Water zero. Eat nonfat Greek yogurt only, that's it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Anyone in education getting sleeved?

I haven't told anyone at work yet. I'm a little nervous because this is only my 2nd year at this school so I don't really have a work BFF yet. I have a mini fridge in my office too and I was thinking of keeping some pre made shakes, fruit juices and yogurt if I can have it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. My drs listed the Protein carnation shakes on the DO NOT LIST. (Not sure why maybe it does not have enough protein. I used a banana when Dr approved but used 1/2. The PB powders are good. Try protein powder in plain yogurt. strawberry and Banana powders were my favorite. Got sick of sweet flavors. At some point you just cant take another shake and hopefully you are on to purred by then and then 1 shake a day or yogurt with protein is not so bad. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Who ever wrote milk is no nutritional value umm hello? Protein among other good Vitamins. The best Protein shake and plain yogurt (add protein powder). I became lactose intolerant and the extra protein milk products gave was missed when I went to coconut. Any way if you can keep it up the protein will help you fill full. Too bad someone else cant cook for the kids or put the kids on your post op diet. Lean meats and veggies - no need to cook two meals. I had the full gastric bypass and was on soft foods by week 3 Dr approved. Jars of peaches, cream of wheat (yum), yogurt plain, no sugar added applesauce, canned pumpkin. Also I am hypoglycemic, perhaps you had that going on (low blood sugar) or were dehydrated. Put yourself and nutrition first for the post op healing your family will survive on healthy foods too. I am so lucky my family really helped and if they did eat 'bad' they did at restaurants without me! Don't give up! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. Plant fusion is my favorite Protein powder most whole foods or you can order from vitacost.com. I became lactose intolerant a week post op after surgery. my whey powders are 'isolate' whey and that has the least amount of milk - almost none - so I am able to use it. Sooo delicious plain coconut yogurt and plain coconut milks are my favorite alternatives. I can now eat cheese so am going to try dairy yogurt when i can but scared. Then they say you can try milk. In the meantime until you can eat something like deli meat i used protein gel packs from the 'bariatric source' to get enough protein. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Michigan sleevers

Updates. Day 6 post op. I feel good. I'm not sore, gas pain has not been an issue for the last couple days. I created a eating and drinking schedule. Starting with liquids Within the first 30 min of waking. I can take all my chewable Vitamins in the am. But i take my Calcium at night. I can tolerate about 1/4 cup of something so I have 1/4 cup cream of wheat and a 1/3 portion of Oikkos dannon greek yogurt. After 30 min i start on my premiere Protein shake. I give myself about an hour to an 1 1/2 to get it down. Then I give myself a break for the next 3 hours only sipping on ice Water. By lunch I'll have the remaining of my yogurt and if i can a little cream of chicken Soup. 30 min later resume sips of ice water, popsicle, Jello over the next 3 hr break dinner I'll have 1/4 cream of mushroom, Gerber peaches or bananas. Sip fluids until bedtime. Once my diet advances and i get 1 month post op I'll make adjustments by adding another premier Protein Shake to my day for a total of 60 g and the other 20-30g will come from meals and Snacks. I will try riding my bike today with the hubby.

    Hot Dogs?

Soft protein: boiled, fried or scrambled eggs, greek yogurt, chili made with ground turkey or chicken and of course kidney or black beans, bean salad, lowfat string cheese, protein-enriched oatmeal...
  9. I had a 2 week liquid diet. 5 shakes a day plus 1 of each (light yogurt, unflavored applesauce,1/2 cup cooked veggies,sf Jello, & sf pudding) I lost about 12 lbs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I go from liquid+ (yogurt cream soup cottage cheese) to mushy foods that would include sliced meat and eggs next week (week 3 post op) My two week checkin was 15lbs down. I just want to see scale move every day. I am trying not to check more than couple times per week.
  11. In the end, I was talking into the sleeve over the bypass by my previous surgical team because it was "less invasive" and had less of a chance to cause Vitamin deficiencies. But at this point I regret not going with my instincts and the bypass. I used to love slow cooker recipes with meats, Beans and chili's but as for recently I haven't been able to digest them. I do love vegetable soups, eggs, yogurt and fruit smoothies and try to put Protein powder in everything. Sent from my Nexus 5X using the BariatricPal App
  12. I was lactose intolerant for the first 6 months after surgery. The Syntrax nectars were and still are my shake of choice. I also bought the lactase tablets so later on I could tolerate cheese and yogurt. Some people are lactose intolerant for a short period of time after surgery and some never get over it, but even if you are now, there is no reason to think it's forever.
  13. Me too I'm 8/8 so I'm not quite at liquid diet stage yet. I made a list of all the things I'd really miss and have been eating them all! I try to balance it out (Greek yogurt, salad, Protein drinks.. then enchiladas and margaritas for dinner...) but I'm SO afraid to see my surgeon next week because as of today I'm 4 lbs above where I was when I saw him the first time a few months ago. I'm ready to take this leap and commit and do it right, but also, I want to say goodbye to ice cream. Ugh. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Purée/mushy/soft foods

I picked up: grits, weight control oatmeal, ricotta cheese, cream of potato Soup, hummus, yogurt, and pudding. I am not allowed eggs yet but seems like a lot of plans allow them. No Peanut Butter either or meat. I am in purée for two more weeks and then can add more. Plan is to eat purée foods for main meals and supplement with Protein shakes and fluids throughout the day Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Purée/mushy/soft foods

I didn't have a puree phase. I went from full liquids to soft foods. I ate a lot of: Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, turkey, tuna, soft fish, refried beans, chili, etc. Did your NUT give you a list of foods for this phase?

    Eating after surgery

I was allowed yogurt, cream of wheat and mashed potatoes and clear liquids 3rd day outa surgery. Every Doc is different. I still get stomach cramps and Im 8 days out. Is still hard to reach my Protein amnt. I actually just started adding my protein powder to my fruit shakes 2 days ago. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App
  17. I am week 4+ and loving it. I was scared to go out at first (not sure of what maybe being sick). I just take a freezer lunch bag with yogurt, Protein liquid gel, or anything I may need. Oh and a big thing of Water. I got to start soft foods early because i became lactose intolerant. Hope that goes away. Other than making myself get out (cause of tiredness) I am so happy. Losing weight and going down sizes + the thought that this is just the beginning. No more yoyoying weight ---- all down from here!!!! I have never had that feeling before. I had a 2 week preop shake diet too and am down 32 lbs since that started. Anyone else excited with stories? Please share. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Eating after surgery

Hi, I was sleeved on 6/30. I just went for my post op visit today and only got my 'ok' for yogurt, pudding, milk and Protein shakes today. I think you added things too soon-clear liquids and Jello for a whole week is the norm. I did get the 'ok' however to do this: I tried the unflavored protein powder in MIO-yuck???? so I tried it in broth(broth can't be too hot and you do have to really stir it in to mix), and It's pretty tolerable! 1/2 pk or 1/2 scoop(10g protein ) in 8oz broth. Four times a day I had 4oz. See if that helps w energy and hunger. Gradually add the shakes and yogurt back into your diet. Good luck! Sent from my LGLS740 using the BariatricPal App

    Hawaiin Vacation

I went to the Caribbean 6 days after my op and took powdered Protein with me (slim-fast and New Direction Protein shake powder provided by my practice) as well as my shaker. I mixed those with iced Water or milk. For lunch, the resort was good enough to make me smooth veg Soups and for between meals, I had some soy milk or soy yogurt to keep the protein up. You can do it. Enjoy your holiday!

    Eating after surgery

Same surgery day here, but my diet for a week after was ONLY Clear liquids...yogurt and Protein drinks don't start until 7 days out (today). My doctor told me he didn't care about protein until at least 5 days out because of the almost guaranteed nausea. I had my first added Protein powder on Monday and got about 20g that day and 20 the next. Now that the first week is up, I can add yogurt and other non-clear liquids. Obviously it's too late for this info now, but I think what you experienced was normal given you were allowed to have those other fooda. Maybe take a day or two to just focus on clear to see is you can settle things down, and possibly talk to your NUT.

How long was it until you....

I am 7 weeks out and cleared for all foods but rarely am able to eat more than a bite or two of veggies after eating protein......I usually mix fresh strawberries and or blueberries in my Greek yogurt and am able to eat a little fruit that way.

    Late June Sleeve Buddies?

Today is my 2 weeks mark! My checkup isn't until tomorrow afternoon but I've gone ahead and tried some puréed bean soup and some mushy carrots. Both were good but neither filled me up. Still better than just broth and protein drinks! Headed to the grocery store to stock up on items. I can't do eggs or any meat for two more weeks. But I am still excited to add grits and oatmeal and yogurt lol. My scale says I am down about 19-20 pounds. I was hoping for more but I know it will come off. Struggling

I had puréed foods at 10 days post op, so not too soon at all really. Life for me on the protein shakes was hard because I was lactose intolerant immediately post op and the shakes that were lactose free made me violently vomit, but once I got to start adding in soft foods like yogurt, it got easier. More choices make thing so much easier! You are doing fine. It's just the part of the recovery very few doctors explain to their patients unfortunately.

    Eating post-op

The same is happening for me. Protein shakes 2 oz every 20 min hurts. Yogurt and pudding hurt me too. I tried 1oz of Protein shake every 10 min and put another 1 oz of a different liquid in between- this helped a bit but not great - just take smaller sips and take ur time drinking Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Eating post-op

I had my surgery on 6/29/16, I'm feeling great, pain is manageable with the pains meds given and I could easily fool myself into thinking that I didn't have any surgery if it wasn't for the incisions. However, I'm having problems eating. I can easily drink Clear liquids at room temperature but the moment I switch to a Protein shake, yogurt, or applesauce I start having spasms or pain in my stomach. I take baby sips. In almost a week, I have only drank about 10 oz of Proteins shakes and 2-3 oz of yougurt plus all the clear liquids. Is this normal? How long before I can start handling anything other that clear liquids with more ease? I need more nourishment in my opinion, if not just more calories. Any feedback is appreciated.
