  1. I pooped Day 5 after surgery. I walked every day to get rid of gas and pain. I mostly walked around my yard for 10 minutes every hour. I'm on Day 9 and I'm almost starting to feel normal again. It gets better:) Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    slow loss?

I'm very slow losing. I lost the majority of my weight with the sleeve (during the time I was in hospital with a leak) and then only about 55 lbs since RNY. I have figured out that I don't lose weight during my cycle - I also have PCOS - my hormones are just crazy now since I'm going through perimenopause. I just try to keep calm and figure that I will lose some during the month, but right now it's averaging at about 10 lbs a month I guess.

    Told to stop losing??

I wasn't told to stop losing but was told that BMI for bariatrics was different from people who didn't have the surgery because of the excess skin, so maybe that is why ? Our stats are about the same I am 5 6 and 165. Size 10 and med tops
  7. I'm 9 days post-op bypass. Yesterday I had my 1 week appt and I'm down 23 lbs [emoji4] I haven't been this weight in about 10 years. I'm already very excited that I went through with it! I'm mostly meeting liquid and protien goals, walking my 10k steps/ day, and dr cleared me to ride my beach cruiser on flat trails. 8. Hi Revision buddies! Just a bit of backstory: I had a lapband placed back in fall of 2007, so almost 12 years ago. Unfortunately, I have always struggled with my band when it had fluid in it (vomited frequently, inability to eat most proteins, GERD, could not drink anything that wasn't warm or at minimum room temperature.) My band and I officially "broke up" in 2015. All of the difficulties I had been struggling with had gotten so bad that I had developed acute gastritis, and esophageal spasms due to the GERD and persistent vomiting, which resulted in me having to have all of the fluid removed. While the vomiting every time I ate and esophageal spams stopped, the GERD remained and the last 60 pounds I had managed to keep off after my initial loss, rapidly returned. So here we are in 2019, through an unfortunate incident my husband had earlier in the year, our deductible and out of pocket maximum have been met for the year. The window of opportunity for me to finally end 12 years of GERD and struggle with this band is finally open. I found a surgeon I really am confident in and have had an EGD to check for Barret's and see what kind of shape my stomach was in. I was lucky in that my hernia had not returned and I didn't have any ulcers, but he did notice that even with no fluid in my band, that it seems tight, I'm not really sure what that means, but it would explain why I still struggle with most proteins. At my last appointment, we reviewed my EGD and he was sending the letter to the insurance company. Because my revision would be due to band complications, my insurance doesn't require the 6 months of dieting, psyh visit, etc, just a letter from the surgeon showing medical necessity for the revision. Since I have a history of GERD, we have decided that RnY is the best option. The paperwork was probably sent in sometime after July 3rd, my appointment was late afternoon on the 2nd and I can't imagine that they would be able to get the letter done and submitted the same day. And now I wait. UGH! It's the worst. I don't have any idea how long it should take. I've read the boards and for some people, it's taken as little as a single day for approval. and some waited for weeks only to be denied. It's maddening!! Thanks for the vent! TX2NC

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

Hi there, I had my surgery June 3, 2019 I’m down 58 pounds. Best decision I’ve ever made. Yes I was sore but praise God I’ve healed and doing good. At first when I started losing weight I was so tired. But now I’m getting me my energy back 👏

On a scale of sloths, how do you feel today?

I'm a 10! Move over, Bo Derek! (All you young 'uns can google it!)
  11. Had the sleeve procedure 7/3/19. I’ve been vegetarian over 15 years, moving from vegan to vegetarian a few times. Vegan is much better! I find dairy causes a lot of inflammation and so I had to kick the cheese, which I loved. I like the substitutes. Even nutritional yeast can give that cheesy flavor I like.

  12. I don’t see where we have a thread on the post op side! So I figured I’d make one since very soon we will all be on this side!

  18. And I didn't see ME on the list but I'm still out here too @ YLime, 10 months and 1 week past surgery, and I had be so special I nearly stink. Had A Stomal Stricture, multiple ulcers in my pouch and in Jejunem, the second part of the small intestine, where the pouch empties into. Although there is not the acid- producing critter it once was, but just enough acid to chew on my jejunm, try chomping until I x a n will8=
  19. Hi it's Frustr8, at the worst mine was maybe 2.5, they have gotten me on several occasions got me dilated to 9 with the endoscopy balloon, but next time They have gone down I still was 2.5- 3, so I don't stay open. I have now had 13 endoscopies lifetime, I joke that I could almost do my own. Now the last one, I was told the jejunem was now fully "patent," that's Medicalese for open, be simpler if they would use Real People language, wouldn't it? But they didn't say how the stoma was, only that they were able to inflate the endo balloon enough to get on through. It now has been 10 months and one week since surgery, pardon me for a mini- whine but I did expect to be eating everything I wanted that would be good for me , albeit small portions. The Good Times should be Rolling by now, but I do feel slightly like the bus keeps running back and forth over me. I do wish I would finish being repaired, if not Please Admit I am a Gastrointestinal Cripple, stop giving me hope if it isn't justified. I guess I can spend. the remainder of life on liquids and pureed if necessary, but by all that is HOLY, would someone please be HONEST with ME!
  20. Tomorrow I see my surgeon for my last visit before surgery, which will be 10 days later. Originally I chose the sleeve because I felt it was the better option for me. But now I'm scared I'm making the wrong choice. I'm scared to develop GERD. I don't have GERD now, but sometimes I do get reflux maybe once every two week or so seems like when I eat meats. I've had GERD bad when I was pregnant. To the point I was constantly throwing up all the time because of all the acid in my throat which cause it to bleed. I had to take Prilosec a majority of my pregnancy. I don't know if I'm over thinking it and I'll likely be fine. The first time I seen my surgeon he seen my enrollment paperwork and I had mentioned the occasional reflux so when he seen me he told me that the sleeve might cause the reflux to worsen. But if worst case and meds don't help he could do a bypass... which I don't want to get the sleeve then end up needing the bypass. UGH! What would you guys do?!?!?! Chance it and go with the sleeve or just do the bypass?
