It will be interesting to watch as this theory develops. Thanks for posting!

I think my nightmare has come true.....

My but gave me this along with the recommendation of less that 3o grams fat and 30 grams carbs for fist 3 mths. Then first year no more than 50 grams fat and carbs. Seems like every Dr. and program is different so check with your doctors / but and stay on your program. Best of luck. New_Me 2019

    Not complaining but......

Ok guys, it’s been 10 months & 150 pounds lost so I’m happy thrilled even. My only complaint is I’m wanting sex all the time no really all the time. Let me explain I liked, enjoyed & wanted sex a lot before surgery but now it’s ramped up by 100% it feels like. The slightest thing then I’m trying to hide the bulge In my pants. I’m not complaining but before surgery I never had to hide anything because of the mountain of fat hiding my erections. I’ve gained “access” to about 3 inches & 5x the stamina easily. I’m a widower, currently single but I do have an ex girlfriend who is now more of a friend with benefits situation. She is loving the new me she was the one who encouraged me to have the surgery when others in my friends & family circle didn’t want me to have the surgery. However we can only get together every few weeks & hookers can be expensive (so I’ve been told). I guess what I’m asking is does your body, hormones or whatever calm down after a while.
  3. I have a 10 and 13 year old. They know I couldn't do a lot of the things they wanted me to do with them in regards to physical activity. Since the surgery and now that I'm down about 100lbs, I'm doing so much more. I kept repeating the same thing before the procedure that I'm doing this so I can be around for them and so I can do things with them. Now the proof is in the pudding as they say and I'm owning up to it and they were so happy the first time I got on an amusement park ride with them because I could instead of watching from the sidelines as I did the first 10 and 13 years of their lives. Good luck!
  4. I was required by my surgeon's office to lose 10% of my total weight during the 6-month lead-in to WLS. That should have been about 26lbs. I began the program at 256lbs on my 1st weigh-in. Surgery Wt was 222lbs. I lost 34lbs on their weight loss plan.
  5. You've lost a fair amount already, so no worries. Just keep on track with eating the right food. I was in a stall for 3 months and it's finally broken loose. I only lost 10 pounds in 3 months. It's okay. The weight will come off.
  6. I am exactly the same. I was sleeved on 2/20. Lost 55lbs pretty quickly and then the brakes went on! I've been stuck and teetering with a 1-2lb loss (and gain) for over a month now. I still follow the rules and mostly do keto foods so it's very frustrating. I feel like this is it - and once I can up my intake to the full 8oz per meal that I'll stop losing altogether and actually start to gain. I too have felt like I should've gone with bypass. Glad to know I'm not alone! Starting weight on surgery date (2/20/2019): 275 4.5 months post-op: 215 Height - 5'7 (female) 42 years young

    Revision of RNY

@LostFound21 - it was exactly 6.5 months. My insurance company required a six month supervised diet. For me this was different as it was not required the first time. Everyone I am getting discharged today. Operation went great. Doctor did tell my husband the only reason it took a bit longer was because of the way the original surgery and anatomy placement was different that they were used to???? Then he said we simply do it different in NY. I suspect it was also because it was 10 years old also. Nonetheless I made it. Vital signed are stable. BLood pressure and heart rate are on the low side but honestly that is my norm. BP is 95/63 HR 57 — again my baseline even pre surgery. So I’m ok. Zero pain and only took IV Tylenol a few time after surgery. Up walking every two hours. I can not wait to go home today.

    Favorite underwear?

Now that I'm down to a size 10 (yay me!) I need to get some new underwear. What's your favorite?
  12. In 10 days it will be 5 months. I'm concerned because I only lost 5 pounds in June and only 1 pound so far this month. It seems bad habits are creeping back.

    July 2019

Tell me why this hits home! I only have 2 more days left of my 10 day diet (3 protein shakes and a small meal for dinner). I work 16 hour shifts 3 times a week and thank god its my FRIDAY tonight because im starving after i eat my dinner here at work at 7pm. I drink alot of water and it doesnt help but i dont really have a choice. But think after your surgery you wont feel like that anymore!

    Pounds lost

The weight will come off. For the first few weeks, many of us fight off inflammation and swelling and our bodies are in shock and haven’t yet switched into weight loss mode. I lost 23 pounds in the first 12 days then lost 2 pounds over the next 20 days. Then after that it came off slooooooooooooooooow for about 2 months then I stalled again for another 5 weeks. Now I’m 5 months post op and I’m lucky to lose 5-6 pounds/month. In June I lost 6.2 pounds, but over 12 inches off of my body in waist, hips, lower abs, chest, arms, and thighs. Make sure to take measurements and track those as well Since my surgery on 2/6/19 I’ve lost 8.5 inches off of my waist, 13 off of my lower abs, and 11.5 off of my hips. That’s in 5 months over which I’ve lost 65 pounds. For perspective, that’s basically a whole FOOT of width that I don’t take up now. Imagine sitting down and having an extra 6 inches on each side of your hips!
  16. Mine provided me with the exact supplements and portions that I was to have for the 10 days prior to surgery. I was only allowed the things they gave me. It was a protein shake at breakfast, lunch, and dinner (vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry), an protein-enhanced oatmeal packet at lunch and dehydrated protein soup (variety packets) for lunch and dinner. That was all I was allowed to have. Then the day before surgery only clear liquids.
  17. Im 5 years in Oct and when i had the endoscopy before surgery i had a slight hiatal hernia.ive always suffered from heartburn on and off but everything was ok.until 3 months ago when i had my 3rd endoscopy and was told i had an ulcer(my biggest fear with this surgery) and my hernia is alot worse.so i was put on carafate for 3 months and had my hiatal hernia repaired 5 days.another endoscopy was done right before surgery and showed ulcer healed but i had a massive amount of scar tissue from acids in my stomach.also my stomach is still very irritated and i just got back from check up today and i have to be on pureed foods for 4 more weeks and still on protonix for 2 months more(ive been on protonix since my sleeve,5yrs!)also have to get another endoscopy in 6 weeks!omgg, this acid needs to stop already!anyone else been down this road??? 10/6/2014-214lbs 7/15/2019-149lbs Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    October 2018 Sleevers

I definitely slowed down. I also seem to gain, then lose. So last week I was up 2#, this week down 4 (so average 1# loss over 2 weeks). But, my doc told me to expect it to slow at 6 months and taper to 0 at 12-18. I'm still about 20# into the overweight category, but at least not obese anymore. And I've lost 80%+ of my excess weight. My goal is to lose enough weight so that if I do end up gaining the 10-20% that some folks do, I'll still be solidly in the overweight and not obese category.

    Pounds lost

I had gastric sleeve on 3/5/19 and I’m down 60 pounds since surgery and 72 pounds in total if I include pre surgery weight loss Seems like I stall for about 4 days every 3 weeks !
  20. Well, its been one hell of a ride that hasn't stopped yet. I was in 1 hospital for 44 days then transferred to Tampa general hospital for 10 days. Long story short I have a big whole where the esophagus meat the stomach. They put 2 stents in and had to take them out and put feeding tube in. I'm finally home with the feeding tube. I'm not suppose to have ice but I'm so thirsty. Any one else relate? How bad is it?

    Peanut butter

And looly, 10 months out, tried p.b. once again, did notwork, did not stay down. My poison, my deadly Kryptonite, perhaps i will just give up and learn to accept it! But it discourages me on a beautiful day.
  22. I honestly started cutting things out when i started my pre op diet (7/8/19). Stopped drinking alcohol, stopped eating like sh**, drank a sh** ton of water. My surgery is 4 days away and im feeling extremely confident and excited. I knew what i signed up for. Good luck!
  23. Hi, in the intro section I explained that, after 19 1/2 years, I am going to have a "tune.up" Revision details in my other post This is my third time with bariatric surgery, and I am ready this time. I am working, hard, on my three major obstacles to a healthy post bariatric life. 1. Small portions I had my friend, Annoying Jan, come and stay with me for two weeks. She is 70, looks like senior Barbie, is incredibly active and is always dishing out advice. I decided to listen to her for a change. She spent time with me looking at portion control, frequency of eating, dealing with the evening hunger that has always defeated me. I told her "F Off!" A few times.... but she was patient. The first week was hell. The second week I began to eat like Jan, Small breakfast, Small lunch, Small dinner and a very small evening snack. Very wonderful food. Organic eggs, fresh veggies and fruit, nuts, beans, low fat cheeses, soups, guacamole. We had "tapas" for dinner. Small portions of delicious things. Thought I would die at night, but I got into the swing of it. I tripled my water consumption and took a lot of walks and completed a lot of tasks on my todo list. Also went to bed early. Its been two months and I have stuck with the routine. I am still friends with Annoying Jan. She made me walk up hill two kilometers last week. I did it, much to my surprise. Having a friend that believes you can do something is so helpful. She came with me to the surgeon consultation and is so supportive. She has not had bypass surgery, she is just really aware of what she is consuming and she has been studying me for years, trying to coach me. She believes in the surgery after doing research. Its the best for me and she will support me. I love Annoying Jan. 2. Timing drinking and eating Target: No food after drinking anything for at least 20 minutes. I am going for 30. More difficult: No drinking while eating. Most difficult: No drinking for at least 30 minutes after eating. I am targeting 45 minutes. "OKay Google... set timer for..." is my most frequent phrase. 3. Getting the nutrients in What a difference 20 years has made! I have planned for and ordered the special bariatric vitamins and minerals. I am setting up reminders on my phone to alert me to take my pills. I have been reading labels and testing protein powders for the past two months and have ordered everything I need. I have ordered several books, recommended on this forum site where I can find recipes to make nutritious smoothies and soup. I was 10 years old on my first diet. I am 62 now. I am blessed with no serious health issues, a strong body and a couple of really good friends. And now, I have this wonderful community to come to for inspiration. I feel that all this pre surgical work, on setting up routine and dealing with night hunger is going to help me long term. I have gone through some serious health issues in the early years post my first by-pass, and turned my health around and that took about 10 years of work. I maintained most of my weight loss. now, I am ready to get the last 50 off. Some of you might have an annoying friend who may be your biggest supporter if you are willing to accept their help.

    Pounds lost

I’m reading many of these posts today. This was a major issue for me the first two months after my surgery. It’s important to realize everyone is different. I only lost 10 pounds my first month after surgery! I’m 4 months out now. I’ve lost 60 pounds.
