    Starving

Yes I do have a similar pre op. I can have 2 serving of a protein [3oz chicken, low fat yogurt, wtc) 2 servings of vegtables (1 cup cook3d or 2 cups raw) Plenty of fluids/broth/etc Also 3-4 protein shakes that are 5grams of carbs or fewer. I wonder why they limit your brother intake. I hate protein shakes so my nut and I decided I can mix the unflavored protein with broth. I can have the sugar free pops or drinks but I hate the aftertaste. So I'm just going to do my hint water.

Michilingi congrats on your date! I'm not really gonna cheat. Last night I was just in a bad state. Today was easier. I was even able to exercise. My guidelines were really brief. Basically 3 carnation shakes, sugar free Jello (I'm eating vegan jello because I couldn't do hoofs), 1 low sugar yogurt or sugar free pudding a day, broth once a day ( I'm having homemade veggie broth because I'm a vegetarian), Water, crystal light, 1 serving of fruit, sugar free Popsicles. It didn't say you couldn't have them but I saw online most people's diets said you can have sugar free fudgicles so last night I got those and feel better. I can't take anymore fruity taste. I know I can do this and it will be worth it not wow were the first two days hard. Do you have a similar pre-op diet? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Need advice - luncheon Sunday - What do I do?

Can you call ahead and find out what is being served? Is it at someone's home? Church? A restaurant? You can always take a Protein shake or yogurt in case they don't have anything you can eat. At three weeks I was on soft foods so it is possible that there will be something you can eat. If you call ahead and ask it will be easier to plan.

Need advice - luncheon Sunday - What do I do?

But eat before you go! lol. Have some yogurt or whatever fits your plan before you go over there. Or, if you don't care who knows about your surgery you could call the hostess to find out what they are serving to see if there is something that you would be able to eat. Depends on how comfortable you are with that. But I would eat before I went, then possibly put food on my plate and push it around and then just tell them (if they ask) that I'm not feeling very well and just couldn't eat after all. But if they have something you know you can eat, then go ahead.

8 days post op VSG eats

So true. It's like I've developed a fear of taste of protein. The only protein I get is yogurt and the unjury powder I add to my Soups. Sent from my SM-G360P using the BariatricPal App

Scheduled for July 29th Dallas Texas

Eating the necessary Protein is a challenge. Just can't drink a whole Protein Drink. I am eating yogurt and I put 1 scoop of creamcile Protein powder in a 4 oz tub. I can only eat 1/2 but the total Proteins 15. I also getting unflavored protein powder to put in my Soups and anything else that does not have a lot of protein until I can get back on eating meat. As for Water Popsicles are a life saver

    Headache on liquid diet

Every program is different, My program is 3-4 Protein shakes a day 48-68oz of Water a day or more 2 solid lean Proteins (3oz chicken, 1 low fat yogurt, etc) 2 servings of vegs either (1 cup cooked or 2 cups raw is a serving) Also and broth based Soups. SO i guess i have it easier than some.

    Soft foods question?!

I had to wait to be cleared for 'all' foods until I could try protein bars. But I understand your anti protein shake thing. They all made me sick to the stomach.... Even Isopure (it made me sick the least). I added unflavored protein powder like unjury to my Greek yogurt. It helped get my protein in without drinking so many shakes. Good luck to you. You will be past this stage before you know it!

Having trouble on soft protein stage

Tuna, turkey, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, refried beans, chili.
  11. Those values are what my dr had me on - I used fage non fat Plain yogurt and non fat cottage cheese to supplement - also flaky fish really helps boost - even tuna if you can handle it - I was lucky and was able to eat fish (soft fish like tilapia, alacore tuna from a can/pouch mixed with mayo and mashed), walu, black cod) in small quantities and light deli turkey and string cheese as part of my soft.. I think fish - once you can handle it will give you a good Protein punch... So I went back to myfitnesspal for that time frame and this is what I was having: 1. Breakfast: premiere protein ready made drink (160c/30g protein/5gcarbs/3g fat)2. lunch: (I made little cupcakes and reheated them) 3 tbs egg white scramble (25c / 5g protein/1g carb/0fat) with 1/2 jimmy dean turkey sausage pulsed really fine and mixed in (17c / 2g protein/0g carb/1fat) reduced fat sharp cheddar (20c / 2g protein/0g carb/2gfat) 3. Dinner: 2 oz Tilapia ((55c / 11g protein/0g carb/1fat) Lemon wedge (2c / 0g protein/1g carb/0fat) 4: snacked on throughout the day as I was able to stomach Non Fat Cottage Cheese (40c / 7g protein/3g carb/0fat) Lite String Cheese ((50c/ 6g protein/3g carb/0fat) Turkey Meat (60c / 14g protein/1g carb/1fat) Fage 0% Greek Yogurt Plain (33c / 6g protein/2g carb/0fat) sugar free torani Raspberry syrup to mix in yogurt (0c / 0g protein/1g carb/0fat) That brought me to 64 protein, 16 carbs, 8 fat. I have to admit i would sometimes skip the cottage cheese and double the yogurt - and I would have the yogurt later at night than i should have - I would eat it as my dessert...
  12. My nut has my husband and I on 20-30 carbs and a minimum of 60 protein a day and I'm really struggling with that right now. Seems all the soft protein things are high in carbs. Right now I drink a protein shake for breakfast, then late morning I have a Dannon light & fit greek yogurt but then I struggle from there. I'm having trouble getting in all my protein and staying below my carbs. Any suggestions on soft high protein things that are low to no carb? I'm sure this has been ask a million times even though I can't find it searching. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Throwing up

eat very slowly and when you are about half way through the portion give it a bit of a rest to make sure you are not full. have you tried yogurt? That set pretty well for me. I hope it works itself out for you soon. I would get sick when i over ate - and overate sometimes was a 4 tablespoons instead of 3. hang in there!
  14. Whaaaaaaaaaat! I haven't read the whole thread so please forgive me if I'm missing something. You mean to tell me, that YOU after having sleeve conversion which i assume is the same as having the sleeve... had the audacity to eat BACON so soon after the surgery? I don't plan to eat BACON ever again let alone post op. I get that same pain you speak of but i don't think it's hunger. Im not sure what it is because I get mines whether I've eaten or not. Your Dr should be flabbergasted! You make it hard for those of us who have not only had the surgery but have accepted this as a lifestyle change. Far more healthier options are available to you in the early post op phase. Protein shakes, yogurt, Soup, Jello, applesauce, hot Cereal. Hell even if you had to make a fruit smoothie with protein that is better than BACON! And then you say you only lost 20 lbs? Girl BYE!!! Oh dear... let us pray. I know I sound judgemental but honey you need serious psychological help ASAP! Bless you.
  15. I'm reading all the people who have had surgery around when I did (4/11), and all the weight they've lost to date. I've lost 46 lbs to date, and I'm jealous of all those who have lost so much more than me! I feel like, "what are they doing different?" When I see things that say they are drinking Zero Vitamin Water, or Powerade Zero, and nonfat Greek Yogurt as all they are eating/drinking, why does that not seem normal to me? Is that really sustainable? I guess I do my Protein Shakes, nonfat Greek Yogurts, some Proteins such as fish, seafood, chicken, cheese, eggs. But I also have veggies, oatmeal with Protein Powder added in, some fruit (not much at all), and some nuts. I've eaten some healthy Snacks, but because I can eat way too much of them at one time, I am choosing not to keep them in the house anymore. I do need to step my game up where the exercise comes into play. I also had a stall that lasted 3-1/2 weeks, and still the weight is going very slowly down. Anyone else have these problems after 3 months out? I feel so alone. I feel slightly depressed because I feel like I'm failing. I don't want to fail, and I know I have some issues with controlling my eating (nighttime is the worst), but I'm trying to make positive changes. Did I mess this all up, and will things get better? I'm so scared now. I feel deflated.

Yogurt is your best bet. You can also bring packets of protein powder to mix into bottled water.
  17. I think your dr is crazy! I feel you pain, I had a horrible time on clear liquids. All the liquids made me so nauseous. I was allowed to have sugar free Jello and pudding. They weren't doing anything for me and I couldnt choke down Protein shakes at that point either. I gave in and started eating Greek yogurt at 1 1/2 weeks. It is the same consistency as pudding and it made me feel so much better! Now I a a little over 3 weeks (had surgery the 15th) and I can get muscle milk down but that greek yogurt saved me. While I agree bacon probably wasnt the best choice, when we are that weak and nasty feeling, it is hard to make good choices. I hope you are doing better now!
  18. Ok, let's dispel some myths. Yes, carbonated drinks are tough, I loved diet coke and seltzers, and they are impossible to drink, but diet coke is poison, and actually makes you fatter, it's a fact! I do miss seltzer though. As far as beer, I still drink it, my doc said it's not as difficult, and he was right. I just can't drink a six pack any more, and I miss drinking it with my meal, ( can't drink with meals at all), but I still enjoy it, just drink it much slower and much less, which makes my wife happy. I do miss eating, but I ate too much, which is why we are here now anyway. It's a life changing experience. I am still learning how to eat, and I am getting better at it. One great tip someone said in one of their posts was, eat the best things first. From what I gather from people that are a few years out, you are able toneat a little more as time goes on, and more variety. I'm only 3 months out and I'm finding that to be true, but only slightly right now. The only negative is that what we did is clearly not reversible, but the lap band is problematic, and the bypass too radical. Dieting doesn't work long term, we all know that, so here we are! wrap your head around the positives, and there are many, and work around the negatives, there are a few, and enjoy your new body with the knowledge that you are going to be a healthier, better looking person, with more energy, and less health risks. I'm eating things like fish, and yogurt, that I never ate before, but I'm learning to love it. It really helps to have support, almost a necessity, my wife is amazing finding new ways to make me healthy small, tasty meals. She is a trainer and in amazing shape and tried for years to get me to listen to her, but I wouldn't. Now she's is my mentor. Good luck to all, don't be sad, you made the right decision, it just may take a little time to embrace it.

    All Protein Shake Diet

I feel like my hunger is all in my head. To be honest, after I had my sleeve I don't get the "starving" feeling I used to have. I do get hungry but not as bad as it was. I'm gonna try to push myself. I'm not going to eat fruit or vegetables because I'm going to do low carb. I've always found that I lose more weight that way. I've gotta do something! I may add in some of the 100 calorie greek yogurts though because they are high protein as well. I ordered a variety pack of protein drinks and protein juices from this website as well. I just want to try some. I wish you could just go to the store and buy some of the bariatric pal stuff.

    Deviled egg ideas?

I like to mix crab meat with just a dollob of Greek yogurt, horseradish, and of course the egg yolks. I season it with Old Bay crab spice and lemon. YUM! You could use a bit of Mayo, if you don't like the yogurt. Enjoy!!!

    Deviled egg ideas?

I am loving deviled eggs lately. Lately, I've been experimenting with fillings, with a goal of being healthful and yummy. Tonight, I filled some egg whites with jalapeño lime hummus (yum!). I also made a filling with the yolks, light mayo, and horseradish (also yum!). I've tried swapping out mayo for Greek yogurt, but didn't care for that. 100% Pure Peanut Powder

I get the Jif one too, as I can grab it on the shelf when I run out, instead of ordering it. My favorite is adding it to my Protein 'pudding' -- I mix 3 or 4 ounces of nonfat or 2% Fage Greek yogurt with a scoop of chocolate Protein Powder and a serving of peanut powder -- I add stevia and a teeny bit of cocoa to make it stronger, and it's to die for! (best if you can let it sit in the frig to meld for an hour or so - or overnight as needed.

I have got about a billion questions

I too am a food addict. I am two months out now and am eating between 500 and 800 cals depending on how many and which protein drinks I have. I do not miss food most of the time. When I get to feeling like compulsive eating I have a bit of cottage cheese, tuna or yogurt. I get to feeling full right away and the obsession goes away. I am usually not hungry at all. If I am, I eat. If not, I don't. When I eat it is about 2-4 ounces or 1/4 cup. You can do this!
