  1. I'm feeling fine. And my band day of Aug 6 was long ago. Recovery has been excellent and I'm coming to an end of Stage 1 (liquids) next week when I see my surgeon on Tuesday, Aug 21 for my first post-surgery follow-up. Best wishes and Good Luck on Monday, Gigi_Girl. Be positive and Keep the Faith.

    BANAJOR OR BUST! Surgery 4/3/06

Well no busting but I am 2 weeks post-op from Bajanor and very happy. I'm so glad to be rebanded and working my way down the scale. I loved the packet of post-op information they gave to take home and refer back to with any question. I've got my lil' banded card. I didn't get one with my first band or all the post-op information to take home just verbal directions. It was overall a very positive experience!

    BANAJOR OR BUST! Surgery 4/3/06

I went to mexico on 3/3/06 I am feeling great and down 19 lbs. I went to belightweight DR Kuri. I chose that one because of the new hospital and they only wanted a $500.00 deposit. The hospital was incrediable. Brand new and so clean and well kept. The rooms had a place for my husband to stay at my side and tv and DVD for him to wach movies. The shower was also a huge tiled shower. This allowed my husband to get in with me post op and be by my side. I drove 8 hrs the day after and then felt good enough to go to work the next day. DONT!! take at least 2 days off. I hope you have as wonderful of am expirance as I did it make sit so much easier. Good luck and good prayers for you all. Brandy
  4. I am 16 months post op on 11/23. I have lost 60 pounds and have recently started working 2 full time jobs and unfortunately gained 4.5 pounds. I realized this and have decided to follow the pre-op and post-op diet to a T just to get myself back on track. Today is day 2 of liquids. I had a 5 day liquid diet before surgery and then 1 week liquids, 1 week mushies, 1 week soft and then the 4th week slowly introduced solid protein and veggies back in to my diet. Thanksgiving I will allow some solid foods but only for that day and only 1 meal. The liquid diet is definitely an eye opener to how reliant I am still on food. I am in this for success and will make it there. I have about 44-49 pounds I would like to lose. I am 194 right now and a size 14/L. I started out at 250ish and was in a size 20-22 and a 2xl shirt. I just stared getting really comfortable with my size and realized I need to lose even more to be healthy. I am not in this to get "skinny", I am in this to be healthy. I will get there. Down 1.5 pounds in 2 days. Wish me luck!!!

    pre-op diet question

I didn't get my preop instructions til I went for my preop appt. and have been on my preop diet for about a week now... You'll probably get your instructions then.. but there are a few who don't have to do a preop.. I wouldn't worry about it too much your Dr will direct you! Good Luck!
  6. You can do it. I am 11 weeks post op and for me the pre op diet was the hardest but you will be so happy in the end!! Prayers going up for you.

    Is this a stall already?

What you are experiencing is a very normal, necessary, and natural part of the process. We all experience stalls, especially about three weeks after surgery. This will not be your last stall. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  8. I am 2 weeks out today! I was 281 at my preop testing which was about 2.5 weeks before surgery, I'm 261 today. I lost around 13 lbs the first week after surgery, however the scale has not moved, well it went up a couple pounds, since Monday! Is it really possible to start as stall at 10 days post op? Am I doomed, it's not like anything else I've ever done has worked, maybe this just won't either!? I'm only 5 feet tall so for my weight I really would have thought I'd get a little more out of this than 13 lbs.
  9. Take a deep breath. You are not even close to done losing. Believe it or not you are really not in control of how fast or how slow you will lose the weight that it probably took years to put on. Your body has been through a lot of trauma in the last several weeks and it requires time to regroup and move forward. Weight fluctuates from day to day and week to week. It will come off if you follow the food plan. I promise! Take it from someone who has weathered many stalls, if your weight fluctuations bring you down, you will need to stay off the scale. I am a daily weigher but I have had to learn to only use that number as a barometer to help me stay on track. I also use the way I feel, the way my clothes fit and a tape measure. Also I would not even consider no weight loss a stall until I have not lost anything in 2 weeks. If you want more info about stalls, use the search tool and you will find many posts on the subject. For now, you are doing great! Give yourself and your body a break. You need time to heal both mind and body. Good luck to you!

    Gym

I started training pre-op to help with the weight loss and to get into a healthier lifestyle. Post-op, my surgeon cleared me for cardio about two weeks after surgery, then cleared me for strength training after a month. I took it very slow to compensate for the decreased calories and surgical recovery. Best of luck on your journey.

For me it's whenver disovlable stitches are gone so I figure about two weeks I'm planning to give it a go at our family reunion which is 13 days out though might use Water proof band-aids just to be extra safe. I'm also planning to just walk around .. nothing hard core.
  12. tomorrow will be my one week since surgery. my follow up appointment is wednesday. i still have that tight feeling in my chest that i felt after surgery when i would try to drink. i do take prevacid in the morning, and im not having any problems getting fluids/protien down. how long does this take to go away? i thought it had eased up the other day, but sitting here now, i can feel it. and i'm not drinking anything at this exact moment. the feeling reminds me of what it felt like when i would overeat with the lapband. any thoughts?
  13. Has anyone experienced joint pain or swelling? I can think of absolutely no reason for it, but twice in past week, my ankles have been swollen, and for 4 or 5 days now, I've had some minor soreness in my joints. Most notably, the ankles, elbows, and wrists. I have not really been taking Vitamins like I should, and I'm hoping that's a proper explanation, but I'm pretty clueless. Have you experienced this? Do you know the possible causes? I do have a call in to my surgeon, so I'm assuming I'll hear back from him or the nurse some time today.

  15. I started Phase 3 of my post-op diet, which is the pureed phase. I was so glad to be able to eat something a little more substantial, especially since being sick with bronchitis. On Friday night, I pureed some chicken and some green beens, which are both allowed. I had 1 oz of each (took small bites and ate very slowly) and thought it was the best thing I've ever put in my mouth - that is until I woke up around 3:00 AM. Since then, I feel like I have so much gas in my chest and abdominal area. My abdomen even seems a little swollen/bloated. I keep using the Gas-X strips, but it hasn't helped alot. Yesterday I stuck to liquids, but had part of a sweet potato today and my chest is hurting again. My question is: Since I don't seem to be tolerating this very well, should I move back to a liquid diet for a few more days? Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.:smile2:
  16. I had my lapband 3 years ago and have succeeded at losing 1 pound! I will regurgitate on a small amount of liquid....especially in the morning. After I vomit the small amount of food or liquid, I can then eat pounds of food without any symptoms. What is this about?????????????? d.
  17. going to the seminar tomorrow. hope it goes by quickly its over an hours drive away for me and its late in the evening. I have a list of questions written down and im ready to go! i hope this process flies by, i see some ppl have maybe 3 weeks between the seminar and their surgery date. id love to see this done before the holidays. Im walking everyday or every other day depending on my lovely fall ga/fla might rain might not kinda weather. trying to push my limits everytime i walk. i have two young children so its kinda hard to jog and make my 3yr old keep up with me lol but im trying. i want to get into this routine now before i have surgery so it isnt a huge hurdle afterwords. my daughter and i had signs yesterday to in every room ( the bathroom, bedroom, living room, and kitchen and on doors ) saying "YOU CAN GO THIS!" "KEEP YOUR HEAD UP " "NEVER LOOK BACK" "she decorated them for me with pretty flowers and shapes when i go in for surgery ill take pictures and put them next the signs. SO MANY PPLANSSSS!! i told my husband today ( after i knocked something off a side table with my stomach" i said "ill be damn happy when my boobs stick out farther then my belly does" he thinks im a comedian . lol can someone tell me why some ppl have restrictions and other ppl dont?
  18. Everytime I get stuck my stoma seems to get irritated for a few days and I can't hold anything down if I try to get back on solids right after an episode. So now if I get stuck, I go back to Optifast for 2-3 meals right after, then ease my way through a mushy meal before trying solids again. It usually works well and gives any irritation time to subside. I had an episode yesterday that lasted over 4 hours (I felt wretched) so am on Optifast today. Give it a go, it may help while you're waiting to talk to someone.
  19. Every docs diet plan is different. I started mushies today, my doc had me on liquids for the first 2 weeks and today thru week 7 I'm on mushies. It's a nice feeling to chew again....It's been 4 weeks in total without chewing....
  20. Stacy160

    mushies start when

I started purees this week (two weeks out, beginning week 3), and am supposed to start mushies after four weeks... but I'm oddly confused about what constitutes which. Some things on the dietician's pureed list seem like they should be mushies (eggs, cottage cheese, chicken and fish pureed), and some on the mushy list seem like they should be on the pureed list (refried beans, stuff like that). I've pretty much been going with soft foods that I can either puree OR turn into puree-consistency in my mouth.

    Pouch stretch?

I worry about it as well. I'll say this, it takes some work to really stretch a pouch out. My best friend had a RNY GB 12 years or so ago. He eats whatever he wants, and has failed miserably at the whole weight loss thing (from 700 pounds to 400) but even with that, he can't eat more than a single piece of pizza at a time. His issue, is that he'll start on a pizza at 1700, and by the time he goes to bed, he will have eaten the whole thing, one slice at a time. So, i'll go on record stating that while it is certainly possible to stretch your pouch, it is not easy, if it were my freind would be dead by now. In fact, he has a number of extremely severe health issues relating to, you guessed it, morbid obesity. He has become so anemic that he has to to the hospital three days a week and be infused with Iron via a slow drip, as his body has completely lost the ability to absorb Iron. His Vitamin D is heading the same way, I think his current Vitamin D is 200,000 IU a week and even that has not brought his levels up to normal. He'll die fairly soon I think, we've been friends for 30 years, and I'll miss him, but this is all his doing. I talked until I was blue in the face and he laughed everything off. Oh and he needs double knee replacements, complete knee replacements, at 42 years old. Not good.

    Ugggg

So I'm at my pcp for a check up and to ask of he will follow me after the surgery. He said yes (yeah) then he took my blood pressure then took it again and again! He was like umm you feel okay? i said yes he said well your blood pressure is very high 150/98. I NEVER have high blood pressure. He did an EKG everything is good but I have to go back in a week to see if it goes down! Only thing in my diet that I have charged is I stopped drinking diet coke and I'm drinking green tea.
  24. I had surgery 11/11/15. I woke up with rapid heart rate. I took my blood pressure, it was 113/87 & 94pulse, then about 1/2 hour later while still lying down it was 118/76 P90. Anyone else have this problem? I went to see my surgeon 2 days ago for the extreme dizziness, it's been corrected now this! Please any guesses?
  25. Well I just celebrated my birthday and since I have a family who loves to eat and myself loving to get all dolled up enjoyed the excitement of just going.. We went from Texas Roadhouse one day, to Apple Bees another, then Red Lobster for lunch on another, and Chef's Steak House, & not to forget the margarita and the black berry sangria and the strawberry blast birthday cake[emoji51]. I say all this because after all these places I went to celebrate my birthday and all the so little food I could consume the last two weeks, I made healthy selections when ordering and only gained 3pds[emoji4] I had some things I shouldn't have had but hey it's a blessing all by itself to be able to live to see another one, so I let down my hair and forgot all about meal tracking and acted as if I was a skinny girl with no phat girl problems, lol [emoji23]So this week my goal is to Work Work Work Work Work (in my Rihanna voice) and get them right back off[emoji123]????
