    Stalls

Just plowed through my first stall! It lasted about 3 weeks and finally broke this past weekend. I am not sure what caused it. I know i should count my lucky stars for being this far out and just now hitting one. I am hoping i still lose this coming week but maybe it was a fluke that the scale moved. i did however lose inches.. I went down to a size 12 yesterday. Thought i was going to die LOL.
  2. I am now on purées for three weeks and i am not losing weight. i have Remained the same size. I am in ketosis like my surgeon told me to but I am only losing inches. Anyone else experience the same with adding food?
  3. Just wondering, I am at almost a year post surgery and I have been at a stall for months now. Has anyone not exercised much and still lost weight? Looking for menu ideas for day to day. I know I need to cut down on my carbs especially bread :-( I still cant eat much at one sitting and I do eat 4-5 times a day from yogurt to protein bars to protein filled meals. Do you eat red meat or did you make the switch to turkey and chicken only? I want to break this stall. I cant do protein drinks mainly because I got burnt out on them from pre surgery and post surgery. The banana one is the only one I can get down these days. I cant do the gym, I am looking into streaming the videos from beachbody.com. Just getting frustrated.
  4. So I am almost 5 weeks post sleeve and I am nauseous all the time. I can only tolerate clear liquids still and maybe a spoon or two of yogurt a day. I am getting no protein and no other nutrients really. I have tried every med for nausea known to man and even a sea band. Nothing helps. Has anyone had this experience this far out? I am beginning to worry and now really regret this surgery.
  5. My first stall..

So I think Ive hit my first plateau. Yeah, I knew it was coming at one point, but even so, It's frustrating.

  6. I think Im experiencing my first stall and boy is it frustrating. I even caught myself once emotional eating. (I keep a food journal in order to keep an eye on my eating habits and make notes to myself.) Im 2 months out of surgery and Im 27 pounds down since surgery and about 65 pounds since the beginning of my journey. While not bad...the first stall is slightly killing me. So my question is when did you all have your first stall/plateau? How much weight had you lost by then?
  7. Hi everyone! Had my surgery Friday. I’m still a bit sore but not in pain or nauseous. Any ideas for week 1? I know is 2 oz every 20 minutes but wanted to know how you guys survived it.
  8. if you watch nothing else this week  watch this and see if you feel as sad about our gov't and what it has done to us as i do.

    2 weeks post op

I haven't worn a bathing suit in about 4 years. This suit has been packed away since then. It felt really good to see my progress when I put this suit on.
  10. Hello Everyone! I wanted to seek out some advice from you all, as I am worrying about my weight stall/gain. I am currently 10 Weeks Post-Op (2 Months) and I have been exercising (Swimming and Running) everyday for at least 2 hours since I was 3 Weeks Post-Op. I am very responsible with my diet and I carefully watch my portions. 3 days ago I was 251.0 lbs and now I’m back to being 253.8 lbs. Why am I at this weight stall/gain? Am I doing something wrong? I personally feel a lot stronger and I have noticed muscle gain in my arms and legs, but could muscle really make me stall that much? I also had a lot of nerve pain near my biceps last night, could that be due to muscle gain? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you! ❣️
  11. So I went back to work one-week post-op. I had my first business lunch today and ordered Brazino and was able to eat 1/2 of the filet (3 ounces) and just asked for the rest to go. I was so stuffed and felt I was actively engaging in conversation, and I looked around me, and the others had cleared their entire plates or fish, spinach, and veggies.!!!! I was super proud of myself. I had green tea before the start of the meal and didn't drink the rest of the meeting. This was such a massive concern for me as I have so many eating situations. One meal at a time
  12. Hello all I’m two weeks sleeve post op today. Two days ago I started with a head cold. That day I had my surgical follow up and also saw my PCP for the head cold. Surgeon wants me in clear liquids for another 8 days and try to increase my protein from 60mg a day to 90mg a day. She said cause my body is fighting this illness and I’ve only lost 11lbs since surgery. My primary care doctor said I have a viral infection and it will pass. Here’s my dilemma. Everything is now making me nauseous. Today has been the worst day. I’ve only gotten one protein shake in so far cause the consistency bothers my sore throat. Broth makes me want to gag. Gatorade 0 is making me nauseous as well. Water is doing okay, but not anywhere near the amount I need to be getting in. Anyone else go through something similar? Any tips or tricks? I’ve also tried protein waters and they make me gag as well. I feel like my body is fighting me horribly, and if I just gave it something more than clear liquids I’d feel so much better.
  13. Hi, I'm new to this app, so I'm unsure if I'm doing this all right. I am 3 weeks post op, from having the gastric bypass surgery and wanted to make some friends, who have gone through it aswell. I could really do with the support, tips and advice. Nay xxx Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk

    Week 5 Update

Internal: I have listened to positive motivational podcasts, self-help books that I love. Trying to embrace this is a permanent lifestyle, eating, drinking, exercise change. At times I worry I'll eat the same types of food over and over. Then I look at Pinterest, cooking books and know I will still have fun cooking, eating, and being with family at meals. Just anxious about what work will be like with eating between patients. (I work at a prison.) I am 5 weeks out and have lost 54 pounds and am off medication (Blood pressure, diabetes) So, still EXCITED. My goal is to lose 120 pounds and keep it off for life!
  15. Hi, I'm new to the forum. I'm 1 week 1 day post op from gastric bypass and in general feeling a bit tired and weak/fatigued, like my muscles feel fatigued even just putting my hair up in a pony tail or walking up my stairs. Is this normal? Did everyone else feel this way and if so when did you start feeling normal again?
  16. Hello Everyone - I am one-week post-op today, and I am now only 2 pounds lighter than I was last week. That is ok with me, and I am so happy I had the "tune-up" surgery. I do need to wear an abdominal binder getting on and out of bed. I return to work this week and zero pain. I am hopeful and positive that the weight will continue to come off. During my Pre-Op Liquid diet, I shed 25 lbs, so I am feeling good about that. I have broken my weight goals into 35-pound goals. I am 27 pounds from target 1.
  17. Good morning. I have been stalled for 2 weeks and before that I was stalled an additional 2 weeks- lost 3 lb then stalled again. I am discouraged and panicking. I am following Drs orders to a "T". Is there anything I should do? I am eating a traditional low fat, low carb diet and I STRUGGLE to get 600 Calories in daily. I do feel like clothes are fitting different through This period.
  18. Does anyone else just feel icky all the time after surgery? Not debilitating but I just feel slightly pukey almost al the time. When I’m hungry, after I eat, in-between...I go about my day just fine only have this gnawing puke feeling constantly.
  19. Just wondering what meats are you eating 6 weeks in and how is your stomach adjusting to it
  20. Amazing!! I am off my blood pressure and diabetes meds. Finally able to get 64 oz of liquids, and 75 g of protein. Lots of soup and thin shakes. Walking one mile in AM and evening. WOW!! Thursday is my four week mark. Had great energy today. Cooked a breakfast fro my wife, one mile walk and took car for an oil change. Got home at 1PM. Now, at 7 PM, feeling wiped out. I know in my head this might be normal, but I sure would like more energy. 75 g of protein and 64 oz of liquids (Three protein shakes, 8 oz) Just wanted to share and hear from this great group.
  21. One week post-op today and visited with My doctor. I’ve graduated to full liquids! Yay me! I’ve never been so excited to see tomato soup in my life 😉. What I’ve learned this week: by day 5 I felt like a normal person again, I should not compare my journey to others, and stick to the plan—it will get me where I need to be. Thanks to all that have been friendly and welcoming. Having support is priceless.
  22. Since the beginning of this process time has flown by so fast anyone else just get their surgery done if so how are you feeling and how's it going? Sent from my SM-J727T1 using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. Hey guys, first post. I had a terrible first day after surgery because my pulse was too low to give me pain meds. Second day I felt pretty good and never had to take any of my pain meds at home. Felt really good, drank really well. Went back to work (retail) after 5 days. Everything had been mostly great until I started eating real food again the past couple weeks. I'm not eating much, but I am suddenly having issues drinking. Iced tea with Splenda seems to hurt now as does PLAIN ICE WATER. It actually seems to hurt the most of anything. At the moment my best drinks are sugar free Gatorade, but it still hurts more now. Anyone have experience with this? I have my 8 week checkup in 10 days but think it's odd that I feel worse with my liquids now than I did the first 5 weeks. I'm losing well, but I am struggling with the liquids now. I would say I feel slightly nauseous all day long, every day, now. Anyway, thanks for any help anyone can offer. Just looking for possibilities. Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app
  24. This week (week 6) has been an eventful one in my little weight loss world.

I had my first "have you lost weight? You look good" comment from a friend in my book club on Tuesday. Of course she also asked "What have you been doing?" so I was honest and told her I had bariatric surgery - it still feels like a cop-out. "Well, I had bariatric surgery...so I've been eating fewer than 800 Calories a day and exercising more."

I also took my first Zumba class! It was lots of fun. I checked my watch after the first 15 minutes or so and I thought there was no way I was going to make it through the entire 50 minutes, but I did it and then proceeded to walk the 1.5 miles or so home. I think I might try Zumba again on Friday through another organization to see if I like that one better and then pick whether I want to do the Wed 5:30pm class or Fri 7:30pm class. Maybe I'll continue to do both? That would make my current "workout" schedule Zumba 1-2 nights a week, and a brisk 1.5mi walk 4-5 times a week.

I still have a looooong way to go, but I think I've started out right.
