just want to know I'm not alone....

You can do it! The buyer's remorse will go away and soon you will feel like this is the best thing you could have ever done. It won't feel like that for a while but it will come. Your hormones will probably bounce all over the place in the next couple of months as your weight drops! Hold on and don't let yourself get too down. And please remember....the stalls will come soon too. The first one (the dreaded 3 week stall) will really make you question your decision. It will pass! Follow your program and keep your chin up. We have all been through the same feelings at some point. Rant, rave, yell, question, whatever you need to on here. We know!
  2. I was sleeved on 7/13 and also stalled, please know this is quite normal. If you do a search for 3-week stall you should find all kinds of results. My doc explained it this way, the first few weeks you will drop about 10% of your weight and then stall. This is due for two reasons, first your body is burning all simple carbs you have stored up in your body and allows your body to go into ketosis, which is where your body starts burning stored fat instead of calories, because we are hardly eating. Second, your organs need to shrink because they are enlarged. The single reason we are on a pre-op diet is to shrink our enlarged fat covered liver. When we lose weight quickly the organs need time to recover. That's at least what I was told. Just as a side not, After I broke through my 3-week stall I dropped another 10lbs in 5 days, stick to the plan and stay away from carbs, caffeine, soda etc and it will work. I am 6 weeks 1 day out today and have lost 51lbs since surgery with a stall of 2 weeks.
  3. Yup, welcome to your first stall. The best thing you can do is stick to your plan and stay off the scale. I promise you are not a failure, your body is simply taking the time to breath and reset itself. If you search for stalls or 3 week stall on this site you will likely find hundreds of posts on this issue. I am sad to say this won't be the only one. As long as you follow the plan, the weight will start coming off again. My longest stall was 28 days, I literally had to put my scale away. Stay positive and don't let this get you down. ???????????? Fustration????????????

You hit the 3 week stall everyone talks about. I hit mine at about 4 weeks and it lasted 1 1/2 weeks then I lost about 5 lbs the next week. Happens to everyone:) I am 9 weeks out and I have started losing about 2-3 lbs average. Keep it up and you will get through.
  5. @@Marlymamamar - You may be panicking a bit. Your profile says you have already lost 90 pounds (assuming mostly prior to pre-op). That is a tremendous weight loss! I am assuming this took you a while and know that this is a marathon not a sprint. And you walked 8 miles at 2 weeks post-op? That is amazing! I am 11 weeks post-op and walked 3 miles yesterday and was quite proud of myself for that. Quite impressive that you would walk for what I am assuming is at least 2 1/2 hours straight. Truly you should relax and be proud of your accomplishments thus far. Now, having said that - if the scale drives you nuts, don't weigh every day and most certainly don't weigh several times a day. Weight doesn't work like that. Weigh in the morning before you eat and take that as your weight for the day. I do remember suddenly being able to drink so much more Fluid and worrying about it and rest assured, everyone confirmed that was normal. You haven't done anything wrong. Your swelling has just reduced making fluids easier. Once you start on soft foods and even more so on dense Protein, you will feel the restriction. Just stick to the program - protein (ESPECIALLY if you are walking 8 miles a day!) and fluids. You may be entering the 3 week stall a little early. (VERY common occurrence.) You are doing great. Be proud of yourself!
  6. I was sleeved on 7/29 and am down just under 15 lbs since surgery. I lost 13.8 in the first 2 weeks and the last 10 days I've been holding steady. I have lost about 2 lbs in the last 10 days but the scale is fluctuating up and down with those 2 lbs depending on the day. I had heard about the 3 week stall, which is what I am experiencing... but I never knew it would mess with my head so much. I am really concerned about my 1 month post op appt and what my surgeon will say when I've only lost a couple/few pounds since my 2 week post-op appt. ????

    Increasing calories

THE 3 WEEK STALL SEEMS TO JUST BE SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS BUT YES IF YOU INCREASE YOUR CALORIES SOME IT SHOULD HELP. YOUR BODY GETS USE TO ONLY HAVING 600 CALORIES SO IT STARTS TO TRY AND STORE THEM. IF YOU GIVE IT A LITTLE MORE IT SHOULD START BURNING THEM AGAIN AND YOU SHOULD START LOSING AGAIN.

    Increasing calories

Has anyone tried increasing their calories to end a stall. For those of us who have been on diet after diet, trying to eat more calories seems wrong. All the research i have done says that women should not eat less then 1200 calories. For the first 3 weeks i was at 600 calories, now i am trying to increase my calories to 800. I made it yesterday but it was not easy. I do feel better with the additional calories but it is too early to see if it breaks me out of my 3 week stall. Anyone see success?
  9. AMEN @@tcon ! I am in the exact same boat as you ... That 3 week stall can take a hike ... I KNOW I'm loosing inches, just like you ... took me 5 tries this morning to get a shirt on that didn't hang on me and make me look like a frump ... But isn't that a good problem to have ?! I've gone down a size in pants ... but even the new size hangs on my hips and is baggy in the thighs ... Another good problem! So while the scale says "yeah whatever" ... Our bodies are finally understanding the change we put it through and is saying " HECK YEAH LADY!" Everyone .... WE GOT THIS!!! WAHHOOOO!
  10. I was one of the lucky ones that gained 10 pounds from swelling and fluids. Thankfully I have started losing but experiencing the 3 weeks stall now. I can see my body shrinking and co-workers ask me daily if I'm losing weight. So I know I'm losing inches. Chin up...the scales will start going down soon. ????????
  11. It's the 3 week stall that 99% of people go through. No worries. Keep on keepin on!
  12. Its called the 3 week stall, search for it and you will find alot of info. keep with the program, it will pass. Good Luck!

    Weight Stall, help!

can you give us an idea of what you are eating , calories dont provide what type of calories your eating. Also you may just be in the dreaded 3 week stall, happens to almost all of us. Your body is still getting used to what has happened.

    Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under

Hey all, I'm 5'2", and sleeved 07/23/15. I'm at four weeks post-op in two days. I haven't been losing any weight since the first week. I started at a BMI of 34 (176.5 lbs), and lost 12 lbs pre-op )2 week diet), and 12 lbs since surgery. Any of you with low BMI experience such long stalls (almost 3 week stall here) Thanks!!
  15. You are in the dreaded 3 week stall. It's totally normal. Your body is catching up. There are a ton of posts about this stall so if you search for "stall" under the forums you will see you aren't alone. Hang in there and be patient. Take your measurements. Sometimes you are losing inches when scale is not moving.
  16. As of this morning I am down exactly 26lbs at 7 weeks. This includes a 2-3 week stall after losing 17lbs the first 3 weeks. It's not as fast as some but I'm pleased. I'm averaging 1 1/2 to 2lbs these past few weeks which should bring me to my goal well before my 1 year. Hopefully before my 42nd birthday in April but honestly no rush. I'm trying to enjoy this after stressing so much on my rapid way back up these past few years.

    Stalling at week 3

Youtube has many types of exercise videos on it. from zumba to yoga. I am 38 days out and still in 3 week stall but staying positive and exercising at the gym
  18. I do cardio at 38 day out. Also yoga and pilates. I have not been cleared for lifting weights yes until next week. Im still in the 3 week stall but staying positive. I eat about 1000 calories
  19. It's the 3 week stall that everyone goes through. There is absolutely nothing you can do about it. Stay hydrated, eat your protien and let it pass. This won't be your last stall, either, but a stall this early out is a physiological thing that happens to everyone after large losses the first weeks. Stalls later out are probably more behaviors causing them. So at this time, just keep doing what you're doing and it will pass.

Agree with other posters - it's the "3 week stall." Do a quick search at the top of the page for it and there are tons of great threads!

I thought I responded to you earlier, but yes, this stall is really terrible. On the bright side, unlike when I have dieted before, I can't quit now, so I just have to power through this stall.
