    Soups, help please!

And I like the veggie broth ftrom W-M as. wrll, use it , coconut and almond. soupbases also I have grown tired of commercial soups. But if you're not, CampbellYES brand butternut squash, Progresso Light, I either Strain out the solids or blenderize them to a smooth consistency. And remember take anything in small anmounts, take them in , but wait between bites, lay your utensil (spoon of fork) down between bites. One of the hardest things for me to learn, its okay to throw things away when you stomach says " No More", although I was a small-town girl type I was raised " country" And we cook lot at a time and aren't naturally wasteful. But Precious Pouch can be a Wicked Strong- willed Emitters of my Life, since my surgeon and I invited her to become the Center of My World, I deal with it Odd isn't it, I use to be Foods Slave, now I am in slavery to an egg- shaped piece of gastric flesh. But most days the positives outweigh the sorrows and miscues I have encountered. Wonderful weigh- tloss, my son , my dietician , and main doctors say I LOOK Good, certainly don't resemble the obese for Years Frustr8, don't know who I shall resemble at the Finish, for I am, at 10 months, still A WORK IN PROGRESS. Dug out snapshots of ME at a comparable weight and that was maybe 1966- 1967, before I married the Late Lamented, my husband of 44 years and the father of my kids, and NO I DO NOT LOOK LIKE HER EITHER! She was a Youthful Chickee- Baby, now I think I LOOK, like RoaD Kill. but Tomkitten,my PCP Dr Carroll, my orthopaedic Dr Doolittle and even my Dietician Roy at Ohio State, they as an Unit tell Me You are doing Fine, looking GOOD, within Okay ,preeminently reaching my Goals at acceptable times, except I am basically on Stage 2 and pureed because I had pouch stricture, jejunal ulcerations, the things that seldom happen to a FINE UPSTANDING SPECIMEN like myself. But day by day I inch to closer to a Final Victory, am an Optimist that ALL will heal, I will come to the terms legally I am a Success with an Elective Proceedure, even at moments that I DONT FEEL SO emotionally, I have taken all my meds, vitamins, minerals, got Q.S. of liquids. So stop beating myself up and realize I am BLESSED. ¬ that much of a MESS. I am down 170 or so pounds from my High Weight, have dropped 130 pounds from Surgery Weight, a wonderous achievement for someone 72 at surgery, now I am 73, in an 18-19 after starting as a 28-30 plump woman size, havi,g to buy Mens Sweats because THAT was what fit over All of Me, not really into Cross-Dressing but one does what one does to keep my body covered. And I was ashamed but felt powerless to affect a change. So IN MANY MANY WAYS my RNY Bariatric surgery saved my life, improved it and I have now a chance at a FUTURE. What will my final chapter of my Journey read like? Even I don't know, but I came" In It to Win It" and came too far to attempt aborting what I HAVE GAINED, no matter how my body feels or acts its been QUITE A 10 1/2 Months, and I am still a Big Lady, but This formerly Fat Lady will sing a HAPPT SONG at the end. This is MY PROMISE and I ALWAYS KEEP MY WORD!😝👍

    5 days post op!

5 days post op of Bypass. Feeling good, no pain just tired. Drinking water 42-48 oz and protein 60 g. Still on liquids but soup menu has increased. Have noticed that jello has lost its appeal but popsicles (sugar free) I am still loving. From 400lbs (January 2019)to 319lbs currently. Thanks to my family and friends and these post and support groups.

    New here

Hi, post gastric bypass on February 12, 2019. 85lbs lost, hair falling out, stuck at 200. The first pic is pre and the second pic is now. I need to break this plateau. Thoughts? Sent from my XT1585 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Is there something wrong?

I didn’t have a calorie limit bc I wasn’t expected to eat/drink that much. They mainly want to make sure youre getting your 60-80g of protein. So try not to have such a high calorie diet but Plan your meals and/or drinks around your protein. When I was at your stage I think I was 500 cals or less. Can’t be too sure. I had foamies ALOT and still kind of do if I over do it or eat too fast. Post op 2/21/19. Right now I’m only able to get in 700-900 calories. Not feeling nauseous is good. I was nauseated the first 1-4 days bc of the anesthesia, but havent been nauseous since.

I think my nightmare has come true.....

My but gave me this along with the recommendation of less that 3o grams fat and 30 grams carbs for fist 3 mths. Then first year no more than 50 grams fat and carbs. Seems like every Dr. and program is different so check with your doctors / but and stay on your program. Best of luck. New_Me 2019

    Not complaining but......

Ok guys, it’s been 10 months & 150 pounds lost so I’m happy thrilled even. My only complaint is I’m wanting sex all the time no really all the time. Let me explain I liked, enjoyed & wanted sex a lot before surgery but now it’s ramped up by 100% it feels like. The slightest thing then I’m trying to hide the bulge In my pants. I’m not complaining but before surgery I never had to hide anything because of the mountain of fat hiding my erections. I’ve gained “access” to about 3 inches & 5x the stamina easily. I’m a widower, currently single but I do have an ex girlfriend who is now more of a friend with benefits situation. She is loving the new me she was the one who encouraged me to have the surgery when others in my friends & family circle didn’t want me to have the surgery. However we can only get together every few weeks & hookers can be expensive (so I’ve been told). I guess what I’m asking is does your body, hormones or whatever calm down after a while.
  9. I have a 10 and 13 year old. They know I couldn't do a lot of the things they wanted me to do with them in regards to physical activity. Since the surgery and now that I'm down about 100lbs, I'm doing so much more. I kept repeating the same thing before the procedure that I'm doing this so I can be around for them and so I can do things with them. Now the proof is in the pudding as they say and I'm owning up to it and they were so happy the first time I got on an amusement park ride with them because I could instead of watching from the sidelines as I did the first 10 and 13 years of their lives. Good luck!
  10. I was required by my surgeon's office to lose 10% of my total weight during the 6-month lead-in to WLS. That should have been about 26lbs. I began the program at 256lbs on my 1st weigh-in. Surgery Wt was 222lbs. I lost 34lbs on their weight loss plan.
  11. You've lost a fair amount already, so no worries. Just keep on track with eating the right food. I was in a stall for 3 months and it's finally broken loose. I only lost 10 pounds in 3 months. It's okay. The weight will come off.
  12. I am exactly the same. I was sleeved on 2/20. Lost 55lbs pretty quickly and then the brakes went on! I've been stuck and teetering with a 1-2lb loss (and gain) for over a month now. I still follow the rules and mostly do keto foods so it's very frustrating. I feel like this is it - and once I can up my intake to the full 8oz per meal that I'll stop losing altogether and actually start to gain. I too have felt like I should've gone with bypass. Glad to know I'm not alone! Starting weight on surgery date (2/20/2019): 275 4.5 months post-op: 215 Height - 5'7 (female) 42 years young

    Revision of RNY

@LostFound21 - it was exactly 6.5 months. My insurance company required a six month supervised diet. For me this was different as it was not required the first time. Everyone I am getting discharged today. Operation went great. Doctor did tell my husband the only reason it took a bit longer was because of the way the original surgery and anatomy placement was different that they were used to???? Then he said we simply do it different in NY. I suspect it was also because it was 10 years old also. Nonetheless I made it. Vital signed are stable. BLood pressure and heart rate are on the low side but honestly that is my norm. BP is 95/63 HR 57 — again my baseline even pre surgery. So I’m ok. Zero pain and only took IV Tylenol a few time after surgery. Up walking every two hours. I can not wait to go home today.

    Favorite underwear?

Now that I'm down to a size 10 (yay me!) I need to get some new underwear. What's your favorite?
  18. In 10 days it will be 5 months. I'm concerned because I only lost 5 pounds in June and only 1 pound so far this month. It seems bad habits are creeping back.

    July 2019

Tell me why this hits home! I only have 2 more days left of my 10 day diet (3 protein shakes and a small meal for dinner). I work 16 hour shifts 3 times a week and thank god its my FRIDAY tonight because im starving after i eat my dinner here at work at 7pm. I drink alot of water and it doesnt help but i dont really have a choice. But think after your surgery you wont feel like that anymore!

    Pounds lost

The weight will come off. For the first few weeks, many of us fight off inflammation and swelling and our bodies are in shock and haven’t yet switched into weight loss mode. I lost 23 pounds in the first 12 days then lost 2 pounds over the next 20 days. Then after that it came off slooooooooooooooooow for about 2 months then I stalled again for another 5 weeks. Now I’m 5 months post op and I’m lucky to lose 5-6 pounds/month. In June I lost 6.2 pounds, but over 12 inches off of my body in waist, hips, lower abs, chest, arms, and thighs. Make sure to take measurements and track those as well Since my surgery on 2/6/19 I’ve lost 8.5 inches off of my waist, 13 off of my lower abs, and 11.5 off of my hips. That’s in 5 months over which I’ve lost 65 pounds. For perspective, that’s basically a whole FOOT of width that I don’t take up now. Imagine sitting down and having an extra 6 inches on each side of your hips!
  22. Mine provided me with the exact supplements and portions that I was to have for the 10 days prior to surgery. I was only allowed the things they gave me. It was a protein shake at breakfast, lunch, and dinner (vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry), an protein-enhanced oatmeal packet at lunch and dehydrated protein soup (variety packets) for lunch and dinner. That was all I was allowed to have. Then the day before surgery only clear liquids.
  23. Im 5 years in Oct and when i had the endoscopy before surgery i had a slight hiatal hernia.ive always suffered from heartburn on and off but everything was ok.until 3 months ago when i had my 3rd endoscopy and was told i had an ulcer(my biggest fear with this surgery) and my hernia is alot worse.so i was put on carafate for 3 months and had my hiatal hernia repaired 5 days.another endoscopy was done right before surgery and showed ulcer healed but i had a massive amount of scar tissue from acids in my stomach.also my stomach is still very irritated and i just got back from check up today and i have to be on pureed foods for 4 more weeks and still on protonix for 2 months more(ive been on protonix since my sleeve,5yrs!)also have to get another endoscopy in 6 weeks!omgg, this acid needs to stop already!anyone else been down this road??? 10/6/2014-214lbs 7/15/2019-149lbs Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    October 2018 Sleevers

I definitely slowed down. I also seem to gain, then lose. So last week I was up 2#, this week down 4 (so average 1# loss over 2 weeks). But, my doc told me to expect it to slow at 6 months and taper to 0 at 12-18. I'm still about 20# into the overweight category, but at least not obese anymore. And I've lost 80%+ of my excess weight. My goal is to lose enough weight so that if I do end up gaining the 10-20% that some folks do, I'll still be solidly in the overweight and not obese category.
