  1. I understand how ur feeling I'm 3 weeks post op and I'm down 13lbs. At first I started getting down about it then i thought to myself this is a journey not a race. I have to embrace the good times and the bad. No other fad diet has provided this 8 or 13lbs of weight loss for me and left me feeling so great. Have I lost in large numbers?? Yes I have on Adkins diet but I didn't feel great like I do now my hair was was dry and brittle and with my critical carb count being so low on Adkins I had very little energy to work out. Trust me follow ur program work ur sleeve/tool get ur exercise in even just walking and the weight WILL come off. Hang in there u r actually doing fantastic.
  2. I am about 20 weeks post-op and I was doing well but now I have noticed that the sugar cravings have returned. I am having a problem resisting. I want to be committed to be eating healthy how can I get over this hurdle.
  3. My doctor told me at my first follow up appointment that if I measured my success by the scale I would be disappointed every time. My scale reads 203 pounds and has been there for a couple of weeks now but the size 36 pants that fit when I first got them not too long ago are getting real loose. So just because I can’t see it on the scale doesn’t mean stuff isn’t happening.
  4. I am thirteen days post-op. Sleeved Dec. 20th, off Lantus-type 2 diabetes completely gone. my blood sugars have been normal since Dec. 13th-(one week pre-op on liquid diet). hope this helps, the sleeve works miracles with diabetes.
  5. 12 days post up. Finally getting more energy. Been on high protein liquids since surgery. Off all medication that was prescribed to me. This past week bad breath and oily film in mouth. I brush and brush & brush can't seem to get rid of it. Has any one had any thing familiar? I do go to Dr in 4 days. Hopefully I can start on soft foods.
  6. Sleeved on the same day as you following the rules. Leaks to my knowledge is not related to excess or wrong foods but is a surgical complication. Meaning it appears in the first two days postoperatively . So once you are a week past you shiuld have minimal worries about leaks.

I’m 68 y.o. and just starting this journey. Did you have to go on a supervised diet for three months before your surgery per Medicare rules?

    Ugh... First Sliming Experience

Was this out, or at home? I'm so scared of something like this happening when I'm at a business dinner. Even if I manage to get away from the table quickly, it would create a problem to be in the restroom for 15 minutes waiting for it to resolve. Ugh! So were you cutting up tiny bites of the hamburger and chewing really well? Were you eating the bread/bun? My post-op instructions say no bread at all for 8 weeks. It's one of those things that I'm going to try to leave behind MOST of the time even beyond that. I guess bread and rice are some of the foods most commonly that cause issues. Glad everything turned out alright in the end...

    Post Op

Hi everyone: I'm Liz. I am one week out from my procedure. I had my follow up visit today and proudly learned that I'm already down ten pounds. Well, my tummy is still swollen and protrudes more than normal. Does anyone know when the swelling goes down? Any tips? [emoji4] Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. Hi all, Surgery April 13, 2015 and today (April 18) the pain continues. Advised to take benifiber (12 gr a day) but it is producing gas which is very uncomfortable. Today is day three of puréed foods. Can only get down about 2 oz at a meal. How long will the surgical pain continue?

    Daily meds after surgery

My Dr would not allow me to take any pills for the first 2 weeks. After that I could take my PPI and then a month or so later I could take my gallbladder pill. At 6 weeks I could take any meds/vitamins that the Dr okay'd in pill form.

    Arms and Legs... Grrrr...

Well i think the arms are a little harder to tone than the legs. At least for me. I have found the most wonderful machine in the world... It's called the ArcTrainer. It has really shaped my legs and butt. I use the "weight loss" mode on a low level. I started out only being able to stay on for like 5 minutes and am now up to 45 minutes averaging 3+ miles. I do this 3 to 4 times a week along with some weight training. I have only lost 50 pounds since October but have gone from a size 22W to 16W. So I honestly believe without this machine I would not be getting the results by just losing weight alone.

    oily film in mouth

I was sleeved Dec 6 2010 and I still get a film. It is a nasty yellow stuff that coats my tongue, it's better than it was the first weeks but still present. I went to the drug store and got a tongue scraper and scrape my tongue every time I brush. I also use orange Listerine at every brush too. If I were to hazard a guess I would say it's from burning a lot of fat rather than the carbs / Protein directly from food? This is just a guess.
  15. If I had to pick one thing that I would suggest to anyone getting this surgery to have on hand post op it would be a heating pad. I am 4 weeks out, yesterday. I have had my heating pad plugged in next to my bed for 4 weeks. The first few weeks I used it on the low setting on my stomach. It really really helped, than I used it when I overdid it and my abdominal muscles hurt and last night was my first night back at the gym (released yesterday) and I am using it on my sore sore muscles. It has been a life saver.
  16. That's great for 1 week out. I always lose weight in my face first. Hopefully the double chin!!!!

    PreOp Diet

I am being banded on 2/12/08. I have read alot about preop diet and am currently on a high Protein low carb diet for two weeks. I'm curious if there is a difference between the diet they tell 200+ to lost, versus someone who is not so large. What was everyone's preop diet? I'm concerned about my liver being too large and the surgeon cancelling once he gets inside. I've read some stories about this happening. Basically, I'm just scared. Please help! Heidi
  20. The only issue I can see is not getting in your liquids. I had to sip all day long. I had about five days after surgery to recuperate (four in hospital, one flying back home) before tending to my toddler twins while my husband was traveling. It's not the same as working two jobs but I was on my feet, up and down stairs and generally moving for most of the day within one week of surgery. Two weeks out you're going to feel A LOT better, especially if you don't allow yourself to get dehydrated after surgery. I think you'll be tired from working so hard and adjusting to such low calories but if you work on getting liquids in you should do fine. ~Cheri
  21. Hi, Today is my first week of being "banded":tt1: I am sore, but getting better each day. The Unjury protein shakes are helping, but still have pain at the surgery sites.

    2nd Fill, alittle tight

Ok, I got in a bit earlier for my second fill, yesterday 3/16, thank God....the hunger was getting pretty much. No portion control, and stall of weight loss, even with some exercise. So, now I feel a bit tight, having a bit of difficulty getting even the soft yogurt down. I am going to try to make it without calling the doc to unfill. I think after my stomach heals from the additional 1.7cc, I will be ok with eating again. Not hungry, mind is clear...no grazing, I think I will be fine and even might find my new total amt 6.4cc in my band, just might be the right amt for this month. Oh, got the Wii game.."Dancing with the stars" and love it. Time goes so fast when you are having fun. I have found myself sweating, that's a good thing. Patti with a smile:smile2:
  23. Omg I am SO with you! I'm 13 days out- full liquids- bit can have yogurt, hot cereals puddings too. My problem is just like yours. Eating fills me so fast! I have zero problems getting my liquids in, though my tummy prefers them to be warm. Room temp water is so-so , therefore I tend to drink more hot tea than anything. Crystal lite is ok. Anyway- I'm supposed to have 3 meals of 4 oz each and drink liquids and protein shakes in between. I much prefer having one meal and upping my protein to make certain I get it all in. It is so darn hard! I felt "real" restriction for the first time today. Trying to get liquids in 30 min after I ate and each sip almost hurt[emoji20][emoji20][emoji20]. Spoke with my NUT today and she said that for now it was ok to do "food" as an in-between and protein shakes as main source. Said it may take a few more weeks for my new tummy to get used to food. She also cautioned me that she did not approve of this as a long term solution. Who knew?[emoji4]
  24. So I was sleeved on July 5. I have lost 16lbs and stopped loosing at week 3. Scale has been stuck for over 2 weeks. I've taken measurements and in the two weeks have only lost 4 1/2 inches total. Can't for the life of me figure out why I'm not loosing anymore.

    High hopes to high

I am right there in the same boat with you. I been banded since July 24, 2008 and I have lost 17lbs. Since my last fill almost a month ago I haven't lost anymore. I actually think I was doing better before my last fill. I am so nervous to go back to the dr to weigh this time. I go a week from tomorrow. I can eat. I have to eat a little slower or i get a little choked sometimes but thats it. I know I eat from mentally telling myself I'm hungry. BUT...that was why I ate anyway. I'm really having to try. Purposely eating more slowly is helping me. Although I have bit my jaw more times than I care to count because of all the chewing. Good luck and please let me know if you come out of your slump. Our situations sound very similar and I went to this sight for some help! Thanks.
