Congrats thats a major accomplishment on the weight. I hope I can report that in the year or so to come :tongue2: Somedays I am just really tired so I am wondering if it is the snoring and this is an answer to yet another problem

My snoring has gone. My hubby has put on a little weight and his snoring is terrible. I'm hoping that he'll eventually take off that weight so I can sleep! lol

Marimaru---my DH has snored forever----and he can rattle the rafters!!! I used to shake him, or nudge him, and huff and puff and get all pissy---because he was keeping me awake!!! Then about a year and a half ago---he had some serious medical problems, and we were told he would not make it. When I would come home alone at night with him in the hospital, I cried missing that sound!!! I still find it comforting, it assures me he is right there!!! I agree weight loss would be good for him--as it is for all of us---but try to make his snoring a sign that he is in the right place at the right time. sleeping in bed with you--------not off carousing in a bar or something even worse!!!! My DH's snoring actually scares our granddaughter!! Kat

Hi my fellow sleevers. I don't post here often enough anymore but I get so much support and motivation here. I'm hoping this will give encouragement to someone who needs it. I was sleeved in May 2013. I have spent the last almost three months in a stall and bouncing up and down. Although I felt like giving up I didn't. I stuck with the program. Suddenly in the last ten days, eight pounds fell off putting me at a normal bmi. I have to admit I had started to believe this wouldn't happen. My doc set my goal at 170-177 (still overweight) so when I stalled for so long at about 166 I thought, well I guess that's it. I wasn't done and I'm still not done. I'm now 158 and sky's the limit! My weight loss has gone mostly like this. Long stalls with chunks of loss here and there. I was 240 the day I was sleeved and my highest weight was 268. Good luck to everyone.

2 Weeks until first fill, and I can eat anything (and I am)...HELP!
musicalmomma replied to Jaide0967's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jaide...I am going to answer your questions...but first DON'T I repeat, DO NOT drink pop/soda!!!!! That can distend your pouch and cause slippage, especially in the early stages when scar tissue is still forming around the band. OK, with that said. Yes! It is VERY normal to feel no restriction until the right amount of fill is achieved. I JUST reached optimal fill (hope it lasts) on this last fill, last Tuesday. I was banded June 1st. It took a lot of will power to lose weight. I would have lost more if I had better control of my cravings, but yes, I gave in several time and ate too many calories, and it was easy to do because I didn't have enough restriction. It took me 4 fills, with the last two making a difference. Hang in there, the early stages take a lot of patience, but it gets MUCH better! -
how much fill is in your VG 11 cm band
14Tweety replied to yankeefan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks BeacheeGirl! I was wondering how long it might take to get any restriction. When I rec'd the first fill, I felt it imemdiately, but then by the following week it was gone. Sigh. Does anyone know why it takes a while to sometimes kick in or tighten? Also, this may sound dumb, but what happens if you get your band totally filled and you lose weight and shrink your tummy, thereby losing restriction? What happens then? Do you need a smaller band? This is all SO confusing...and a teensy bit frustrating.... THANKS for the info!! -Heather -

4 Years & Going Strongs

Congratulations on your wonderful success! I love going to the success story forum once in a while to see someones post who has reached their goal and are loving life! I'm almost 6 months out and have really learned alot about myself in the journey so far. I was a slow loser before the band and I'm still a slow loser. I guess I have an efficient metabolism even though it makes me mad! I've lost 30 lbs which isn't a ton but I look and feel so much better. My lab numbers have improved as well. I'm doing Zumba 3 times a week which I never thought I could accomplish. I have learned that the only way I'm going to lose weight successfully and keep it off is going to be based on the effort I am willing to put in. The band helps me eat less but it doesn't keep me from grazing or making poor food choices. Again, congratulations on your success. Keep posting from time to time to keep others motivated! Have an awesome summer! -
Hmmm. Obsession with my weight even more. I'm only 3 weeks out, but I have noticed I do like and want to do more exercise and I feel pretty good when doing it. I've already got an addiction to shopping lol, not really but I do love it

Hi Everyone, I was just wondering if anyone else has developed an over active thyroid after surgery? I am 13 months post op and have lost 130 pounds. Over the last 3 1/2 weeks I have been having hives really bad all over. The dermatologist did bloodwork and showed my thyroid is over active. I went to the endocarnologist (spelling?) and he said it is extremely over active and that I would have to start taking medicine to regulate. (only temporary) I had to have more bloodwork and on Nov. 2 i am going for a iodine uptake test. I ve heard the medicine makes it slow down and people usually gain weight. I am scared to death, I don't want to gain any weight back. I've come too far. Anyone have any advice? August All Star 2008

Change up your routine. Your body may have gotten used to the same routine every day. How many calories do you average a day? If more than 1,500, try cutting it down to 1,300. If less than 1,000, try adding 200 calories. Make sure you are drinking at least 64 ounces of Water a day. You've lost 50 pounds!! You should be jumping for joy! Keep your chin up. It took time to put the weight on, it takes time to take it off. -
Thank you for your input but I had my surgery on 12/6/2011. Still having problems. Sorry for the misunderstanding. So has been 5 yrs. Dr. stated I would gain some weight also. Just hope this next surgery will help me. thanks so much.

You mention calories (which seem really low) but not Protein. What is your protein target? Mine is 100 grams and my surgeon's range is 80-100 grams. How are you doing at getting in all of your protein? Are you able to consume at least 80 grams? Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. But, if you are eating so little you may not be getting enough nutrition to support your activity level and weight loss. Getting in enough protein and Fluid (at least 64 oz) is critical for health and for weight loss. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall Your calories are relative to your protein. What is your protein target?

Some gain I mths hospital and others dont. How much Fluid are you getting? As long as you are sipping and Making progress you are fine. Keep in mind though that your body is healing and weight can go up, down, and hold steady during this journey. Dont panic and follow your plan.

I'm now 2weeks plus 2 days post op and I'm back at work. I've lost 16.5lbs as of this morning(no fill yet). Everyone has been telling me how much smaller I am. I haven't been this weight since 2004. My doc has me on a soft diet, but those protein shakes are starting to make me gag. I can't wait until I get home so I can sleep. 12 hour shifts are a lot after surgery.

1Yr After Lap Band And I Am Slowing Down:(
elcee replied to kgarcia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is normal for weight loss to be fast at the beginning of a program and slow down the longer you have been doing it. The more weight you have to lose the easier it comes off. You may also need to relook at your calorie intake because the less you weigh the less you need to eat to maintain your new weight. So if at the beginning you could eat 1500 cal per day and lose you may find that you now need to eat 1200 or 1000 or possibly even less. -
There's a huge bit of truth in your title. haha. The more often you get sore from the lactic acid, the better shape you'll get in, and better yet, the faster you'll lose weight.

I haven't really set any goals. I don't know if that's a bad thing or not. The reason I haven't is because I feel like I only have marginal control over how much I lose, and plateaus are so annoyingly common. My weight loss is so stair-step and not at all predictable, so I am one of those people who is hesitant to set concrete goals... -Kendra

I'd like to set a weightloss goal weight for June 1st, but how does one go about setting a realistic but not too easy/obvious goal? I was sleeved march second. Sw 224 CW 198 Gw 173? That's 25 lbs down in the next 8 weeks. Think that's too much for me? Watch me hit my 3 week stall right now and throw me all off. Lol

Tomorrow morning I am going to start doing this, a 30 minutes treadmill/elliptical session before I eat, and a 30 minute weights rotation after dinner.

Once the weight is lost what happens? Is the band relaxed allowing more room in your stomach? If you start to regain weight do they give you a fill? Just wondering.
