I am scared to get GERD, please give me advice
Midnightsun replied to AchieveGoals's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my sleeve surgery July 8, 2019 and I am off my blood pressure meds already. My dr stopped it last Monday because my blood pressure is perfect without it now. My A1c went to a 7, so technically I was diagnosed with diabetes right before surgery. I was told this would most likely resolve diabetes. My Mother had diabetes really bad so this was a big push for me to stop it in its tracks. My health issues is the reason I had my surgery. I know when they did the endoscopy they did a test for GERD and if you had it they didn’t do the sleeve, they do the bypass. You are young, get started now and enjoy your life. Talk to your surgeon and don’t worry it will all work out. -
Sooooooo, i assumed i had a "stomach ulcer" due to the pain i was experiencing. Once i described the problem, my doctor's assistant prescribed me medication. A month later the medicine does nothing. I went back still complaining aboutmy stomach so my doctor requested a Endoscopy. I had the procedure done yesterday (7/19/19) and the doctors said i dont have a Ulcer. (WTF)? In fact he said my stomach looks great. No signs of complications, I didn't stretch my stomach out or anything. He said i look perfectly fine. What the hell..??? The Cubs game was crazy hot yesterday but we made it! There is no way could I have made it through a day like yesterday last year. We left the house at 8:15 am and got home at 10 pm while it was a heat index of 106. I would have been too exhausted and overheated to stick it out. I’m so grateful I was able to go this year. We walked a lot and didn’t eat great, although we did have dinner at a fantastic taco place. I stayed just under 1000 calories. I swear I drank over a gallon of water at the game. Back to the routine today, however we are still under an extreme heat warning so I’ll probably stay indoors for the most part.

Needy worry wart newbie here!
Sandra Nuelken replied to Deegirl31's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I found when I had the band years ago, food and I had a different relationship. I only deserved the best, clean, protein-filled food. The other stuff was not my friend and it would not make me happy. My new life and energy made me happy. I'm about 10 days from surgery for the sleeve and on the pre-surgical diet, I see my head getting into the right place again. I am once again losing, feeling good about my control over myself and setting daily goals for healthy eating. Counting down on my new life. -

SEPTEMBER 2018 SURGERIES AND SUCCESS
Frustr8 replied to Frustr8's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
And yes they called from Opthamologist to schedule my LEFT cataract removal, would you believe October 3rd? They truly are booking out THAT FAR, still have to meet with Dr K on September 11th, thought they did enough last Tuesday including pictures of my interior eye to satisfy a herd of physicians. and Funny I don't remember his partner Dr Reeder having THAT done before I had the Right Cataract removed in December 2016? Maybe different doctor, different Bells and Whistles? Well, a Big Fat Whatever, not sweating such a trivial small thing! And at the very least I have 3 appointmentst each remaining month of 2019. About time for Medicare to draft me a letter telling ME Please stay home, We Can't Keep up with YOU as it is! LOL👈😄👉, for such a long time after I,turned 65 and old enough for it, I stayed home and didn't cost them MUCH. Oooh Baby things have changed around now! -
I scoured the forum for tips from people and came up with a revised list of things to try. I'll be adding to this and updating as time goes on but this is a lot to go on and gives me hope as I start my Pureed diet phase this weekend. Enjoy ! 1. Eggface Ricotta Bake (google it) 2. Green bean casserole (bariatric style) with canned chicken 3. Tuna casserole (bariatric style) with green Beans instead of peas 4. Mexican beef with cheese or beans with cheese (too carby for me--made me hungry too soon after eating) 5. Broccoli, spinach or cauliflower pureed with light cream cheese, lemon juice, s/p/g (steam the crap out of it first) 6. Smashed cauliflower with bacon and green onions (put in a food processor) 7. Any Soup or chili made bariatric style 8. Fish in foil pouches with lemon and spices/herbs. 9. zucchini sauteed with onion, tomatoes and herbs and pureed--can add any kind of lean meat.< /span> 10. yogurt/cottage cheese blends with berries. 11. Was 3-4 weeks when your doctor said you could start again? I imagine it will be a couple months before I will be allowed to get back to working where I'm at, it is very heavy weight. Yes, my doctor said a month to allow the incision to heal. Restriction up until then was 10 pounds.

Anyone had a tummy tuck after weight loss?
catwoman7 replied to Lynda486's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
they say more than a 10 lb gain or loss will affect your plastic surgery (to be honest, that's one of the main reasons I had it - as an additional incentive to keep from gaining weight!). As the above person said, it may not be as nice as when you had it done, but unless you've gained back all of your weight, it shouldn't go back to the way it was pre-plastic surgery. At least I wouldn't think so... -
That stuff has black box warning and can be very dangerous. I have not smoked in 10 years now. i am glad that it worked for you.
-
Consider using Chantix. I took it a month before I had to do my surgery in May 2019. I haven't smoked since then. I dont even crave it because it takes the craving away. And Im around people who smoke everyday. Its covered by most insurances as well. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

July 2019 - Surgery Schedule
New_Me2019 replied to Mom_of_Chaos's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a scare yesterday. Dr wanted another CBC. My white blood count came back high again! I already missed 6/4 and 6/11 surgery dates. They cannot find a problem causing this. I am so scared the Dr is going to call me and tell me its a no go. New_Me 2019 -
Just starting journey band to bypass
pssk replied to loridee24's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi. I’m new here, also. We are on the same journey. 😀 I removed my band after five years in 2018. I went to the surgeon on 7/5/19 thinking I would get vsg but he said he would recommend rny instead due to reflux and my age (55). I have a BMI of 36 with lots of comorbities except for diabetes (so far). I just want to be around for kids and right now I’m a heart attack waiting to happen. But then I get scared thinking what if I get a bad complication from rny and I’m not here for my kids... Are you nervous? I hope for the best for you! -
July 2019 Surgery Siblings Post-Op
New_Me2019 replied to Mom_of_Chaos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here. 2 weeks of 2 shakes a day. Surgery is Tuesday and I am ready to get this show on the road. New_Me 2019 -
I prefer Bali or Warners, and sorry to be a shitz but I now prefer full granny undies (except frillies on 'special' occasions that the undies are on for like 10 minutes). But then I also wear spanx all in one bra/cami nearly every day to hold the flabby skin at bay. I used to only wear hipsters or bikinis prior to wls.

OK guys maybe I’m just pessimistic (I stress maybe) but am I the only one who has found this surgery to be a complete B*TCH?!
FluffyChix replied to HopefulonLI's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I realize I'm in the minority here, but I used to have to take Flexeril + Narco 10/325's daily on schedule for chronic pain when I was MO. And no doubt I was hooked on them. During both surgeries for weight, I was givin a trilogy of drugs that work synergistically with each other: tramadol, tylenol, gabapentin. This combo worked great!!! I didn't stay on it long enough to get a dependence for gaba or the tramadol. But I loved it and felt it helped me heal much quicker without the added stress of opiods. -
Looking back at my food journal, I was eating about 450 cal/day at 5 weeks. I still feel full quickly, but can definitely eat twice as much now. However, make the most of the first 6 months. This is the time when the bulk of your weight will come off. Once the restriction lets up and hunger returns, the battle is much harder, as many of my Feb 2019 buddies are also finding. Embrace the restriction now. It is the gift that surgery gives you and it won't last forever.

Congratulations! Getting into 12's from 24 was very exciting for me too! I was actually pretty content there. But then I made it to 10 which is where I'm at now! I can't even imagine getting to single digits sizes! I'm not pressuring myself into it though. I just keep working the program, letting whatever happen... happen.

Thanks everyone for the responses. BTW for clarification (not that it really matters): I'm a size 10 in pants but I think it's a different number (7 maybe?) in underwear which is weird.

Asking older sleevers, did I make a mistake?
gabybab replied to gabybab's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I eat yogurt for breakfast every day. I had chicken salad for lunch and I'm planning on having eggs for dinner. I'm not eating a bunch of crap. I can now get in more food above my 80 grams of protein, so I eat vegetables and a serving of fruit. Today I will have 10 Rainier cherries as they are in season here. -
