    Body Twins

I been looking for you all my life...🤣🤣. How has it been going? I am working on these last 10 lbs. that is my surgeons preop goal for me...230. All of my testing is complete, psych evaluation is done. We are purposely waiting until after the 1st of August because my employer is changing the Bariatric Surgery Benefit of our insurance plan (to our benefit) from a 50% coverage to 90-100%) who-hoo. All that savings will be going to supplements and protein drinks😁. If you are willing would you share pictures?

    Surgery is tomorrow

Surgery went well. Had to stay an extra night in hospital because of low oxygen levels. Waiting for discharge paperwork. New_Me 2019
  6. I retired 3 yrs ago and since I didn't have to go to work anymore, I had become even more reclusive. We own a home, and I garden....only in my back yard. We have a fenced in back yard, so I wasn't visible. My front yard is all hedges and plants that only need to be maintained annually. I was only going out, only about 1 time a week, and then only if I had too. That crap has started to change already! I realize that I have to fix my thinking about weight and body image as well as my eating. Since I have a surgery date of 10/1, I have begun to get out like other folks do. Heck! I went to the bank yesterday instead of just using the mobile app! I need to get up, get out and get around as activity will be part of my success after I have surgery. You know what I realized? I love Walmart! I saw a lot of people there over the weekend just like me!!!! Who knew?!?

    Pre-op and obsessed?

Yep, I'm with you. My date is 10/1/19 and still obsessed. Can't wait for the hard work to begin. Oh, wait....it already has!

    New and anxious

I have Kaiser (WA) and am not covered for any WLS, so congratulations on being covered! I think the educational programs are a wonderful idea. I think that the knowledge is a great idea. The 12 weeks will pass by quickly and before you know it you will be being rolled in for your procedure. I found out, before scheduling my wls (self pay), that even if I used Kaisers wls program and surgeons, due to my contract, they would still not cover any subsequent doctors visits for anything remotely relating to my wls. Yep, full pay all the way! They will however pay for me to see a Nutritionist as long as we don't mention wls in any appt. Silly right? I scheduled my wls surgery for 10/1/19 back at the end of March. I'm now 68 days away from my date. This time has flown by! so, if 6 months has been a short period of time, think of how fast 3 months will go by! Hang in there!

Clothing question. So if you shop now for a size 6/8/10 or small top and lose another 10 pounds can you still wear those clothes like you did at 200 pounds with an x-large too or size 16 pants? How many pounds once you get so close to a normal BMI do you need the next smaller size? Just trying to figure out current verses probable future size.
  10. This is my Wednesday Menu: July 24, 2019 - 5'4" Female 56years - WLM (wt loss mode) - 134.4lbs So food is still jacked. I have what is called an incomplete ileus from my emergency surgery a couple weeks ago. The doctor said I should/could go back to liquid protein and or to follow a low fiber soft diet. Reading about it sounds horrifying, so I have to make a note to self: don't consult Dr. Google. LOL. It will take as long as it takes to heal fully. It's basically that my intestines are partially paralyzed/inflammed causing transient blockages. I just have to watch and make sure I'm getting plenty of fluids and maintaining my electrolyte balance. I didn't find that keeping a liquid diet was much easier on me yesterday. So by last night after a business meeting, I was solidly hungry and when we went to our neighborhood place, I tried to make the "best" decision, using it as a rationalization to eat high carb, highly processed crap. *le sigh* The struggle continues. LOL. Not surprisingly, no losses this morning, but no gains either. So there is that. LOL. I'm low on everything here--especially protein. Got to do better today. It's a new dawn a new day y'all! B-black coffee and black green tea, turmeric ginger tea L-iced cocomojoe coffee AS-diluted PP Clear Fruit Punch Protein drink D-yeast roll, grilled salmon, linguine with baby spinach
  11. My diagnosis: a control thing- by sabatoging you she wins- and it's "Poor Rosemary", to all her friends, " I warned her" We Sicilian aren't built for THOSE POOR DIETS- THAT RADICAL A SURGERY- We were meant by GOD to eat healthy home- cooked FOOD!" Nonna wins , YOU lose, and in her ❤, all is WELL. Meanwhile there you are , nauseous on the sidelines, wondering why your own mother acts this way? And I believe you're trying your best, for yourself and trying to be a good example for your Daughter, but her fine Italian thumb is right on top of you again! How do I know this? A long life and although I'm as American as Hot Dogs and Apple Pie, on my street were Italian neighbor Mamas, 2 streets over were the Greeks , and between pasta and moussaka, and Paczi from the Polish Mamas the other direction, I became a Dietary Delinquent at an Early Age and now at 73 I'm still shedding the weight! Finally, You know how you now feel about Banana Bread? I'm 10 going on 11 months out, someone made me what they called an Healthy Smoothie, put a Banana in it, same General Body Reaction, Maybe the Yellow fruit and I will never be Friends Again! Sad, before my surgery they had much A-Peel for Me, just couldn't resist a Pun There! Much Love, Much Sympathy because I have been" food- repulsed" also 😣✋😛

    Cost of surgery -- WOW

They often submit all kinds of outrageous numbers to see what sticks and then accept what is paid (particularly if they are under a network contract - then they have no choice but to accept what is paid). But I haven't seen anything that high - 80-100k submitted is not unusual but the normal contracted price is usually somewhere in the 10-20k range, maybe a bit more for a bypass. As to the insurance company asking if you have other coverage, that is just the company looking for someone else to share the cost with (though usually we see that mostly with orthopedic or injury surgeries where there is the possibility of an injury lawsuit or workers comp claim that they can hang it on, but not usually something like bariatrics that they normally have already pre-approved

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

I’m second guessing my calories, I’ve lost 20 lbs and I’m 5 weeks post opp. Maybe I’m eating too much? Why the stalls for such a long time? Since week 2 I’ve been struggling to lose more than a pound or two a week. I lost 15 lbs in like the first 10 days then stop. Oh well must workout now I guess?

    July 2019 - Surgery Schedule

Well, tomorrow at 7 am is the "big day". I'm a bit disappointed that none of my family has come home before now (it's 9:33 PM) as I have to be at the hospital by 5 AM. My eldest daughter flies back to PA tomorrow (mid-day) and originally she was coming with my husband & I to the hospital and then hopefully I would get to recovery before he had to drive her to the airport. Youngest daughter was going to join us @ the hospital closer to my surgery time. My husband called and announced that they have made things "much easier" (not his specific wording but the gist)..and that youngest daughter is going to pick up eldest and drive her to the airport so "they don't have to get up so early" and then..after youngest has dropped her off..she will stop by on her way to work. I am realizing now I'm actually VERY hurt by this. When my parents were alive, we made sure for any major surgery to be there with them no matter WHAT time the surgery was. To make sure we could see them before they went back. I am...stunningly hurt by this and I'm just now realizing it. My husband and eldest are out drinking beer..they said they'd be home early..but it's almost 10 PM and I need to be up by at least 4:15 AM. I have been patient and understanding and ALONE most nights as everyone goes and does the usual 'food socialization'. My eldest doesn't get good Tex-Mex where she lives so this was a long standing tradition. I HONESTLY don't begrudge them that..but what is a SCARY and very important day for me...it's like my husband is only showing up as he HAS to be there. I don't understand my kids..I really don't. You could not have paid me any amount of money to not be by my parent's side...both of them. And I always was. I don't even have my parents left to be there with me..I know many do not. But I am very disappointed and I feel very very alone. Sorry, am not handling this well. To everyone else still upcoming in Week 4, I wish all of you the very best!

  18. The Zoloft Concentrate that I'm on I take it twice a day, two pill drops full (i think it equates to 10 ml - it's the equivalent of 100mg of Zoloft twice a day), because before I was on 200mg of Zoloft once a day, the doctor decided to break it up. The bottle comes with droppers that measure out everything.

    Too Much Protein?

I lost 6 pounds the first week and 1 pound the second week and so far 1/2 pound this week, so I'm happy with the movement and progress. I think I was in "starvation mode" the way I had been eating and now eating more calories is helping, plus the overall premise of the "carnivore" diet magic seems to be working. I'm 10 pounds away from being "Overweight" instead of "Obese" so I'm looking forward to that milestone.
  21. Hello! I found these forums yesterday while I was anxiously awaiting for my insurance to approve my surgery. I'm so glad I found such a great wealth of information and support here so I wanted to share that as of this morning my insurance, Excellus BCBS, approved my gastric sleeve surgery! I haven't spoken to the surgery scheduler since I've heard, but my tentative date is 9/30/19. I have so many emotions; excited, anxious, nervous, motivated... I'm just glad to be moving forward towards getting my life back or starting a brand new one. I'm looking forward to following all of your stories and sharing my own.
  22. I only kept those that were one size larger. Everything else - out!! Figured it'd be an incentive to stay where I was weight-wise. I did have a 12 lb bounce back after hitting my lowest weight (and keep in mind a 10-20 lb regain is pretty common). Also, having a few things in the larger size helped after plastic surgery because I was too swollen to fit into some of my things (esp pants). But I had no need for size 4x and 5x things anymore...

Hi! What state are you from? I'm not looking to date but more to make like mined friends! I had surgery on March 14th 2019! 4 months out and I'm down 100lbs. I go to the gym 1-3 times a day. I honestly just love going to the gym and feeling great about how I've just spent my time. I love showing others that it can be a joy and not a chore. I love love LOVE being active. Excess skin

Every person is different. Your young age is a big advantage for you. Your skin will be more elastic. If you lose more than 100 pounds, you are going to have some loose skin, no doubt. But.... there are ways to cope and your health is a lot more important than outward appearance. I am 63 and I have loose skin, but by golly, I earned every bit of it! I feel quite wrinkly and old looking, especially in my face and neck, but more than a few people have told me I look 10 year younger. Go figure. Maybe I look younger because I FEEL 10 years younger, have more zip, and am much happier and more confident. As you get thinner and feel better, I think others pick up on the positive vibes and don't even notice the wrinkles or looseness! They just see the new you!
  25. Folks, don’t worry. I know you want it all gone now...I did , too...but it will happen! I am 5”6”. I was 209 at my consult. I was approved by my insurance companies and given my checklists (all the boring poke/prod stuff). They scheduled me for 3 months later and I set about doing all the stuff they’d scheduled. All they told me was DON’T GAIN ANY WEIGHT OR YOUR INSURANCE COMPANIES WILL DECLINE SURGERY! Okay. Got it. So, I got super vigilant and began LOSING weight. I showed up for surgery weighing 180 lbs with a BMI of exactly 30... apparently, the OTHER number where MY INSURANCE COMPANIES WILL DECLINE! Uh, wait...you’ve got to explain this stuff upfront! (However, since I had a complication, my Doctor got it approved on that day and off we went.) Anyway, this is the long way of saying, I had my surgery at 30 BMI! I kept and continue to keep copious notes on my weight loss. Initially I lost 8-10 pounds per month. Then it slowed to 5-6 pounds. I hit my goal very quickly but then I decided that was my Doctor’s goal. MY goal was 35 pounds lighter. So I kept going. Now I look back and think how the time flew and what I’ve accomplished. But, in the moment, I thought it was taking forever! Don’t spend time worrying about how quickly it will happen. It’s different for everyone. Comparison is fruitless. It gets you nowhere and it robs energy you could be using to make sure you get where you want to be! i wish all of you the very best.
