revision revision revision... lapband didnt work so now bypass anyone else?
dazedinks replied to angelicious117's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had my band placed in 2007 and lost 100lbs. Then it got too tight. Then too tight again and I could not get anymore fills due to GERD. My bariatric surgeon will no longer place bands. He suggested a revision and after a lot of research I decided for bypass. I chose this due to my eating behaviors of wanting sweets and fat. With the bypass, I cannot have those due to possible dumping syndrome. Second reason is I have read some increased symptoms of GERD. I am currently working on my bariatric checklist of the things I have to do to have surgery. Keeping fingers crossed it will happen. -

I had the sleeve done 7/2012 and it never worked for me. I moved and started seeing a new Dr about a year ago and we were considering a revision on the sleeve but once he took x-rays he saw the previous Dr had left my sleeve 4 times the size it should have been so he said i would have better results from bypass. I'm one week out, so far so good. Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App -
Revision Insurance Question
lizmo8175 replied to Who'sThere's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I have the same issue band and insurance thus the reason for the revision surgery, however I am told that the band may have caused a hernia and that could be what is causing complications if that is the case and there is a hernia we can bypass the insurances requirements. I am going to meet a new surgeon this afternoon in Las Vegas and get an appointment set up for the scope... Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
Still thinking about the change.

I'm am starting the process for a revision this month but I've had a lot of complications with my band 4 years now and I can't live the rest of my life with it but also can't live the rest of my life without having something there. What I like about the sleeve is the hormone that makes you hungry is cut out. I've gained my weight back and it's possible that the band has caused a hernia which has possibly been what's causing this my complications causing my stomach to prolapse or I should say my pouch. My friend chose to have the sleeve procedure and it has been very successful, I look forward to having the sleeve procedure done I cannot wait to get this band out Good luck 2 you! Like @@shedo82773 said, you will definitely want muscle repair along with the panni. If you have had children or are "apple" shaped (store most of your fat in your stomach), then it is highly likely that fat UNDERNEATH your muscle has stretched it out (just like fat under your skin stretches your skin out) and the only way to repair that is to surgically tighten it up. You will not get as good results with a panni alone if your muscle fascia is stretched out. @@WLSResources/ClothingExch Yes, that's me in the pictures I posted. Those are from one year post-sleeve and four years post-plastics. I actually am a rare case that had plastics BEFORE my sleeve. I had lost weight "on my own" and had plastics back in 2011. Unfortunately, I regained almost all the weight I'd lost by the summer of 2014, which is when I decided to have VSG. Luckily, my tummy tuck held up well through the weight regain and re-loss. My boobs, not so much. I'm going to have to have a revision for those eventually.

I got my band in May 2011..I am in the process of revising to a sleeve. My experience with the band was once I had to have an unfill due to severe vomiting and acid reflux I never could find my sweet spot again. I get what you're saying about getting it adjusting and mot being able to do that with the sleeve, however getting my band adjusted wasnt working anyway right! So sleeve here I come! -

Best decision ever. Had the band 8 years and was miserable. All the weight came back and I had pain and vomiting. Had my revision two months ago on July 20th, and I've lost 56 pounds since surgery morning. Bypass works very well. -

Sleeve to bypass revision tomorrow! Need advice and success stories
Smdnght28 replied to PortlandGirl's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi I just wanted to say no need to feel embarrassed. I hope its not too personal but why are you getting a revision is it because of the acid reflux. I'm thinking about the the sleeve but Ive started to see a lot of people talk about really bad acid reflux and I'm getting scared. My husband was supportive at first of my decision to have surgery but now he's like there's risks and you wont enjoy food anymore... Anyway I just wanted to welcome you and wish you the best the luck! -

Sleeve to bypass revision tomorrow! Need advice and success stories
PortlandGirl posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Tomorrow can not get here soon enough. Im nervous, excited and scared. I'm nervous that I'm making a mistake (first surgery went well...perhaps I won't be as lucky) - excited because I have hope that I will lose weight and get rid of the acid reflux, and scared that nothing will change or get worse. I'm embarrassed I have to be here again. :/ My husband is supportive but doesn't really understand...food needs to be my enemy and just for fuel...it's hard to eat right when all he wants is meat and potatoes and I have to make it. Anyways, searching for folks that have been successful in a sleeve to bypass situation..looking for all the advice I can get. -
I'm in Portland, surgery tomorrow! Revision from sleeve to bypass due to acid reflux and weight gain. Dr Patterson is the surgeon, what about you guys?

Jintycb bless you for posting,I'm one of your cousins 10 generations ago . Pure- ish WÀSP , just a little older from York and Lancaster way back, now we're "american" and I once did ballet until I got kicked out for growing too tall. Instructor told my parents I'd have trouble finding partners tall , said only tall dancer was Juliet Prowse and ended up acting. After 2 years of faithful instruction and with feet into ladies sizes at 8. At least I can boast I turned out well but large. 23 of your stone, and that's after some loss. Get revised about Halloween with a RnY and be on my way to thinner better health ???????????? Sent from my S55 using the BariatricPal App

Anyone else have a sleeve revision to bypass due to complications?
imawlsfailure replied to lisylooby's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I'm having a revision from sleeve to bypass due to ulcers. I had revision from lapband to sleeve in 2014 due to my band ulcerating completely through my stomach. I lost 23lbs with the band, gained 70, lost 127 with the sleeve, have gained 30. So, maybe I'll lose the 80lbs total I need to lose this time. -
I know that everyone is different.

I had the revision on Tuesday 9/27, still feeling under the weather, can't seem to get enough fluids in, trying to drink but so hard. Stomach still very sore especially the one large site. Also doesn't help I have a cough, so every time I cough hurts worse. How long did it take to get enough fluids in? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Seriously thinking about Lap-Band...still not sure
dvons replied to ginabee38's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've had the lapband since 2008. If you opt for a lap band my best advice is do NOT do it unless you are committed to follow ups with your doctor. If you want a maintenance free surgery, prolly go sleeve. Every time I get too busy and not follow up every 6 months, I get in to trouble. I'm currently going through the process of getting the revision to sleeve but haven't made up my mind. Glad I found this forum. -
Day 3 post-op : small victory
ComfortedHelp posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started VSG journey in July 2016 (the shortest prep I have ever heard of). I weighed at my highest ever at 272lbs. The journey started due to complications with my lapband (I had lapband done on March 2012). I started to get frequent aspiration pneumonia. Fast forward to the VSG journey. My surgeon and I discussed revision from band to sleeve. Had endoscopy done August 11, 2016 and was approved by insurance for surgery date September 28, 2016. I'm now day 3 post-op and this app has helped with so many questions I had. One fear was not being able to poop!!! Yes I said POOP! Well it's day 3 and I had a BM. Gas pain was getting relieved slowly but I think this is a victory with so little liquid intake I've been having. Angelijah 2007 -
