TESS - congrats on the NSV, new scrubs for work and a few sized smaller.. I know we all probably had our OOPS moments over this past weekend, but I agree Today is a new day..!! I have not been on the scale since last tuesday and am dreading it this morning, but have to do it for my own mental check in. Hope I at least remain the same with no gain!! I'll know soon.

Happy Thanksgiving to All!!! I am working Thursday and Friday....so, I don't think I'll get into too much trouble. Just me and my Lean Cuisine Turkey!!!!! My latest NSV ( just for you Fenton)- 3 years ago my best friend bought me a beautiful sweater and turtleneck set. I just loved it, and when I put it on I got it as far as over my head!!!! Actually, i stretched it so wide I barely could pull in down over my chest!!!! I come across it every few months when I get donation and garage sale things together, I just couldn't part with it.... I wanted to wear it because it was a perfect color for me!!!! So, I just kept it in storage. Last week, I went on a hunt and found it... got it out... put it on... NOT ONLY DOES IT FIT...IT IS LOOSE ON ME!!!! OMG!!! I am wearing it with pride!!! I even had to text my friend and tell her it fit!!!

This has nothing to do with weight loss or NSV's, but I thought I'd share anyway. We got two puppies on Sunday. They are soooo cute. We got a 7wk old female Rat terrier and an 11 wk. old male rat terrier. My 13 yr. old asked me yesterday why we got two... I told her "we got Sunny to drive Sparky nuts, and we got Sparky to drive Sunny nuts. All so that they won't drive US nuts." ajoneen - congrats on all of your victories. You may not be where you thought you would be, but at least you aren't where you were.

Congrats Texgirl! I too just had the same NSV today! Doesn't it feel wonderful?! You go girl!

Lynn....sorry you are so frustrated. I too am at a stand-still on the weight loss front. I am embarking on 3 days of liquids starting today. Protein shakes and Water. To try to jump start things. I was doing really well with the South Beach induction, but I have a really hard time digesting hard Proteins, so it was really difficult for me to stick to. Once I learned about why I am having such a hard time with meat, I stopped, because I was really hurting myself. So now I will try the Protein Shakes.....I guess what I'm trying to say is change things up a bit. Keep track of everything. You will get past this. I totally understand your frustration. Amanda....I have been getting in at least 20 minutes of walking/running/jogging a day AND a 20 minute session of "Crunchless Abs"....(which is a very good program BTW) I am really proud of myself for this! I do my cardio either on my treadmill....in bad weather...or with my 8 yr old son at the school yard while the little one's play on the playground. Hope....Congrats on the NSV. Amazing isn't it. I had a patient hit on me last month. It was so funny to be flirted with. I really enjoyed it....I can't believe I feel cute again at almost 39 yrs old! Diva... sounds to me like you don't need a fill. Maybe a tiny un-fill...but that's up to you. I too had a very fickle band. Some days I could eat anything and others I could eat very little. I found it very, very important to remember that after a PB episode you are supposed to do 2 days of liquids to let your stomach settle down. Have you had your 1 yr post OP esophogram? That will tell about any slippage and can check for other problems. Christine

Harley - WOW what a beautiful dress and dirt cheap too. You will be smokin hot at your Christmas party. Fenton - Buy some clothes that fit. I know I look a bit dumpy in bigger clothes now. I know it is hard being in this in-between stage. I may wear a shirt that fits and a pair of pants that are to big. It drives me crazy. I am getting ready to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with my DS. It is a tradition with us. I would love to actually go to NY and see it one day. I will be at my DH family for lunch and then to my parents for dinner. I will see family that I have not seen for quite a while at both places. (I will definetly wear clothes that fit) NSV - We took my DS and some of his friends to Dollywood (Dolly Parton's amusement park in TN) for DS birthday. I was able to ride all the rides. WOOT!!! I even rode an upside down roller coaster. (although I may never ride one again:ohmy:) Have a great turkey day. I know there are many things to be thankful for, but my band is way up there on the list.

Angelic: on this whole journey-type situation, we achieve several different types of success. Most of us focus on the weight we lose - the number of pounds we see that we've lost when we climb onto the scale. This would be a Scale Victory. But it's important to keep your eyes and ears open for things which don't relate to the number on that scale - someone saying, "Hey, have you lost weight?", or being able to tighten that belt one more notch, or noticing that you've slipped into that cinema seat a lot more comfortably than before, or that the (Gawd help me) bra that was too small now fits perfectly, or that you have so much energy that a walk that usually takes you over a half an hour now just takes 25 minutes. These are Non-Scale Victories - NSVs. Now, I don't know if I made it up, but it seems to me that, if you can have an NSV, you can also have an SV. So, there it is...

Okay Shamrocks, I have finally found the courage to post a picture here that shows my -60 lbs and I kept up the theme I did when I donated 40 lbs of sugar to the local food bank when I was at -40 lbs and this time donated 60 lbs of rice to our church's Haiti hurricane relief because of the devastation and extreme hunger situation there right now. I have to tell you, I couldn't carry all 60 lbs at once except for the 60 seconds I held that long enough to take this picture so how in the world was I carrying that around 24 hours a day and up and down steps? I'm so thankful for this progress. Each bag I'm holding is a 10 lb bag of rice. NSV-->Something magical must have happened this week that I can't see in the mirror because I had 3 people come up to me and say, you are losing weight, as in melting, aren't you! I said YES! thank you for noticing I'm really watching what I'm eating and exercising and its working! All truth...I still haven't widely publicized about my WLS and that's my business to decide who to tell and not. So, I'm a smiling x6!:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin: THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT -- LET'S KEEP ON LOSING!

Well, I tossed the Easter stuff yesterday by mid afternoon....that's how badly it was going. Next Holiday it's all going with people. I'm not keeping any of it. Today it's South Beach induction. Load up on the Protein. I cannot believe how incredibly hard yesterday was. It was totally like pre-band...No concious eating, just eating through the food because it was there. Ok, so today's a new day. Congrats Scrappy on almost being at goal! Special K you are doing really well! Congrats! Carrie, Congrats on the NSV! Christine

Lisa, great to hear from you on your successes. Yes, braces are wonderful as an adult - my sister got them at about 30 or so to correct a problem she'd had since a child with prominent front teeth and our parents could never afford braces so I just hope you will SMILE SMILE SMILE each and every day! You have so much to celebrate with your 70+ lbs you've already lost. Congrats on those great NSVs -- I can totally see you in the hot new heels since I have met you in person..Strut your self - be proud. On the relationship front, yep, I've been hiding under a rock for most of my overweight adult life so its so hard picturing myself as someone a new person in my life will accept with "bags and sags" as you all say but I do hope I can find someone still who will see me for the real me and look long term on how healthy I'm working to be. I met a younger guy through a local lapband support group and I emailed him a few times and exchanged a phone # but he hasn't figured it out...maybe I'm totally terrible at this flirting thing or maybe he's figured out I'm too old, or whatever. I'm moving on and if he calls we'll see. Don't be thinking I'm sitting at home waiting for him. I'm out there living life! And for our dear Fenton, yes, he is a big guy and I'm also looking long term that he is losing for the future so I see that as sexy and attractive at his current size. :-)

Also, I'm happy because my book has just come out in the UK and is apparently doing well, and my work on the sequel is going well. Best of all, maybe, a production company wants the movie rights to the book... Not an NSV, a NLBV!

Hey, I had a NSV to share with everyone... We are the proud parents of a kitten that we rescued from being under a car in the parking lot where I work. Yesterday, I was down on the floor playing with her, and crawling around and when I got up I didn't even have to think about how I was going to do it... I haven't crawled around on the floor like that in a long time, and being able to get right up without any difficulty!!!!!! 63 pounds makes a difference!!!!!

Hi shamrocks! Lynn: Good to know someone else had the same feeling. Diva: I'm with Christine and Harley.....The scale is a rotten thing. I'm thinking of moving mine because the temptation is starting to get to me. It is in the bathroom. I think I should put it in a closet or something so I only take it out when I am going to weigh myself. enjoylife: Did you get banded in DE? If you didn't use CHRIAS, where did you go? I'm a little unhappy about all the extra fees myself, especially since I paid for surgery myself. I am too far in the process to change now, but I am interested in where you went. Teri: Great news that your scale moved. It sounds like you are doing great with the exercise. I have to admit that I am struggling a bit. I am on liquids for 4 weeks post surgery and have fudge into the mushies a bit. I am trying very hard to figure out when I am really hungry and head hunger. What I am finding is that I am NOT really hungry. I am also struggling with portions. At this point, I am doing OK with the portions, but have been tempted to increase them. When I eat something non-liquid, I have been eating a 1/2 cup or less. Unlike you Fenton, I am getting a fill asap. Even though I am not really overly hungry, I don't want to stretch my pouch. I WANT to feel the restriction, so I am not tempted to overeat. It is the reason I got the band in the first place. I don't overeat sugar free chocolate because of its nasty side effects! I do know that we go back to liquids for a day or two after a fill according to my doc as well. Well, I am looking for NSV and SV next week. Next weigh in is 4/15 or 4/16.

I had a NSV yesterday . My only pair of jeans that fit were in the wash so I asked my neice if I could wear a pair of hers . I wear size 18 she wears size 16 . When I was up stairs trying them on I could hear my neice and her father laughing at the idea that I thought I could fit in her pants . She called up and asked if they fit and when I said they did and came down in them the whole family was shocked that they fit . I then said to my neice "Do you know what this means ? You need to lose weight too. " The pants were a little tight and I had a muffin top but they weren't so tight that I felt uncomfortable in them but tighter than what I normally would wear . The last time I had on a size 16 was when I was 16 .

TESS - WTG congratulations Special K - I am seeing a big change in watches, rings and bracelets, even necklaces. They all are loose and I feel I may drop them off my hand/wrist. Mamogram - I had mine a few weeks ago. It was odd not to have to worry about "getting enough breast on the plate" I did thinbk it may be less painfi=ul, but alas, it still hurt like H$LL.. NSV - smaller clothes...sixe medium pants, and large shirt. Happy New Year everyone! This holiday season was fun and went fast. I had some long weekends and time to play with my son and see family. This year Christmas was wonderful. Everyone got something they liked! We all got along! Life was good. Funny thing, no one said one word about me loosing weight. I guess me looking at the scale and knowing that I am wearing smaller clothes and am much healthier is going to have to be my reward for a while! I keep an eye out for the NSVs. Despite the fact that the below grid shows I have gained 2 pounds since the beginning of December, I am happy. At one time I was up 7 pounds. (OK, I had very little resistance to the Cookies, until I saw the scale! Then, I had no more cookies!) My goal for my bandiversay is 65-75 total pounds lost. That is about 20-30 pounds. I think it is a realistic goal. Does anyone else have a one year goal? My band is about as tight as it is going to get, so I need to just make good choices. The band is doing what it is supposed to do, it is up to me to get the rest of it right. The band is a little fickle. I actually had a slice of pizza the other day. Most days I couldn't have eaten that! I am actually happy that most days I can't eat pizza. I love the stuff and it loves me as it stays on my backside for a while after I eat it. (Like years!) I know that Protein makes me feel full and is what I need to eat, I have to just do it. For the most part, I am. I am still on that journey of discovery to determine why the heck I ever ate so much. Why I let myself get to almost 300 pounds? There are many things I have worked on and seem to have a handle on. On occasion I still use food as a friend. I am working on that! I seem to have a good understanding of the head hunger. Since my stomach actually growls now, I can tell when I am really hungry. I plan to continue this journey through 2009. I am actually thinking about trying a dating site. I haven't dated in a while. It has been more a "I don't like myself" sort of thing as opposed to not having available males around. I guess I should just get out there and give it a go.

Gosh-- Happy Bandiversary to those who are already passing this milestone this month! I can't believe its gone by so fast. I had a fun NSV yesterday to share -- we've mostly been inside our houses in Ohio now since what October-ish and I invited my neighbors to a get together at my house April 5 for an egg hunt and spring renewal of friendships visit and it just so happened that when I got home a couple neighbors were out and I stopped to talk with them and before they could say anything else, they said OMG you have lost alot of weight! Yep, I'm working hard at it every day is what I reply back to people. I guess what I'm saying to us is we look in the mirror every day hoping to see results and sometimes it takes someone who hasn't seen us in awhile to say WOW for us to really believe in the WOW we are seeing. Congratulations Shamrocks-- keep on Shrinking!

PJTP... Busy weekend, now back to work...YUK! Layoffs abounding at the job - not me yet, but heard an entire department was let go...sad. Good productive weekend - replaced the faucet in the kitchen sink with DH, DD had 'Saturday school' cause she skipped some days and didn't tell us - school found out and called us in, we let her have it and then she had to attend saturday stuff. Serves her right... Got updated pics of DGS (Darling GrandSon) over the weekend - will have to see if I can upload them here. He's just adorable and I miss him so much (he's in Indiana, I'm in CT). DH is happy to have his truck back (transmission repair) and now he doesn't have to share my car with me...though he got a kick out of me coming to pick him up from work. He referred to himself as my "kept man"... Clothes are getting looser - gotta go shopping as soon as spring truly arrives so nothing falls off. Gotta love NSV's! Tap - hope you're feeling better Babygrl - congrats on the baby girl's dance competition Beth - "crotch of hell" I'm ROFLMBO at all those...will be in Richmond this weekend for a college visit at VSU with DD - how close are you to that? Susan - congrats on the loss, blessings to you on your upcoming surgery! Back to work before the boss-from-hell finds out I'm posting on LBT... -
