    Liver Issues

I had high levels prior to surgery but now test normal. I hope it isn't anything serious and will just get better once your body adjusts to the weight loss. How much B12 do you take?
  2. Anyone have their band done here? Dr. Mobley (johnnymobs) is going to do mine.
  3. my first fill is tomorrow, I'm not worried about the pain as much as I'm worried about not feeling any restriction. I've gained about 4 pds and am ready to get this party started. Crystal
  4. I was banded on March 11th, and everything has been going great. However the last couple weeks the weight ahs sure slowed down coming off. I lost the first 50 pounds faily fast, but has slowed down alot. Going in for my first check up since the 1 week post op check up and am guess I will be getting some fill. I have been able to eat basically anything, i have yet had any bad experiences with anything. NO pb's. But I am starting to feel hungry alot and I suppose a fill will help with that. Was just wondering how everyone else has been doing and what they can eat or are having problems with.

    Tango Nightmare!

    From the album: Just Me

This is the "only" picture of my backside in years and has driven me to WLS. My friend, Cami, is a Tango teacher and I look like a Yeti compared to her..and she isn't skinny. Course I AM 5 10', but that much weight is killing my knee and stopped my Tango classes in their tracks (the knee, not the weight).

    I have questions please help!

B12 is vital to your health. Google it for more information. Talk to your doctor about starting ASAP. Your weight loss is great, however. Keep it up!

    Bridesmaid Delemia

First check with the store and find out when the latest date is you can order it. You'd hate for them to no longer carry that dress, or not have it in your size. Nothing worse than an ugly dress!! And especially when you're in the midst of losing weight. It's so hard to say what size to get, because who knows how much you'll lose. If you're able to, I'd wait at least another month or two. You're bound to lose some weight by then.
  8. The weight on the initial consult for MOST is what is used for the insurance. (Be sure to check with your insurance to make sure there’s no other requirements regarding your weight). The only thing I had to remove were my socks and shoes for the fancy scale they had. All clothes stay on.
  9. Hi, My name is Mel. I'm 54 and I am 65 pounds over weight. My BMI is 35.4. I have tried dieting and always gain the weight back plus more. I enjoy exercising and work out 3-4 times per week. I'm interested in learning what it's like to go thru the experience of adjusting to a lap band. I'd love to hear from you.

    Hola

Hola, If you are down from 245 to 200 right after surgery that is very fast weight loss. Was that with your preop diet?

    Reallly?

Wowsers ! Im not sure what to start with ! Well, for starters, welcome to the other side ! I was banded Dec, 2011 and have had nothing but positive results. The band literaly gave me back my old life of being healthy, happy and close to a normal weight. You might want to see a Nutritionish ASAP ! He/she will help you deal with your emotional eating. As far as liquids, try different flavors, brands etc to see what appeals to you and makes you happy and full. (I admit I cheated once on the liquid phase too, a small spoonful of tuna with mayo. Yum!)
  13. Your protein sounds great. My goal is 80. I'm only 3 weeks post op and at about 650 calories a day. Have you been gaining muscle? And are you eating a lot of high fat foods? those might contribute to the weight gain
  14. Im at 158 for two weeks now. Gain one poind loose one pound... Im 6 weeks out from my surgery..
  15. I'm 183 and I've been in the 180s for over 1 month and a half. How long did it take you to get into the170s? or how long have you been in the 180s? I don't know if my weight loss has just completely slowed down or if this is just a hard number to break!
  16. I didn't have this problem but the nutritionist I saw did tell that she's had to tell some patients that they CANNOT lose any weight during the three month dietary visits.
  17. Hey everyone my name is Dana I was sleeved on June 2 so far the process has been wonderful by my 4th day home I felt so much better and currently am experiencing no pains what so ever my only difficulties would be the amount of Protein I am consuming and I hope this won't affect my weight loss so far I am 15 pounds down I have been obsessively checking my weight every morning but the past 2 days have not lost a pound I hope this doesn't stay this way after seeing I lost one to two pounds per day seeing nothing has me a bit worried and of course I would love to shed the weight as quickly as possible I would love to hear more from others I enjoyed so far reading many post its exciting to hear the stories of others who have been sleeved so far. I am the only person I know to have done the procedure seeing what you guys write is very inspirational and helps me look forward to what awaits me *Dana*
  18. I am a RN in a hospital and I have to say losing weight has given me more energy for my 12 hours shifts. I feel better about myself and am way more positive. I also love that I don't obsess about food anymore and I eat to live not live to eat. There are so many positives from this surgery...
  19. I just heard about this last night and I, for one, am VERY interested! While Medicare covers WLS and more recently Obesity Counseling, it specifically exclude by matter of law weight loss medications. It will be interesting to see whether or not Maestro ends up getting covered. If it does, I think I would prefer this route, at least initially, to lose weight. I have a BMI of over 60 so getting approved for surgery is extremely easy. However, the idea of permanent malabsorption. with the possibility for malnutrition, from a RNY gives me pause. Maestro promises faster weight loss than diet and exercise alone, without the complications of rerouting the GI tract.
  20. Decided to wait until post summer vacations and the kids are back in school, but glad to have a date for my bypass. I'm the first one in my family willing to address my weight issues and look for a healthier lifestyle change with WLS. Anyone else with surgery scheduled in that time period looking for a buddy, hit me up. Thanks to all that post and share on this site, it's been a great source of information these past couple of months.
  21. I am officially one year post op and lost 100 pounds! I've only got 20 more pounds to get to my overall goal. I am able to eat more now and drink carbonated beverages. I'm starting to binge eat again [emoji30] I haven't gained any weight yet but I am struggling to stay on track. Any tips for motivation?

    Realistic goal?

No matter what your weight is in 12 1/2 weeks, you will be down quite a few inches. Think of the fun you will have SHOPPING for clothes for that cruise!

    Gathering information

Hello! I think researching is smart. For one thing, the lap band isn't designed to be removed and in fact, most who have it removed gain their weight back unless they have some other type of weight loss surgery. Further I don't know how tall you are and how much you weigh but it's possible just being 80 pounds overweight that you would have to pay for the surgery yourself; most insurance companies have BMI's and weights you must meet or exceed before they'll pay. The surgery can be pricey. Respectfully, because all most all of us here are unhappy with our weight and I'm sure you too are unhappy, I would suggest you try losing weight by more traditional methods. Something caused you to gain; that won't magically go away. And most of us bandsters can still eat "one more candy bar" without trouble. That's what's called a slider food and many calorie and fat laden foods are sliders. (Cookies, cake, ice cream, fries all come to mind). If you don't feel overweight and don't feel motivated to try to lose, at 60 the last thing you should do is have a surgery that you aren't prepared to embrace and work at. If you don't have health issues, nor problems with your weight, then surgery is likely not for you. If you did get the band, odds are you'd be very unhappy without some serious rethinking. If you are just an 80-pound overweight otherwise happy and healthy person, then something like Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers might give you the motivation you need to lose those pounds. The lap band is a miracle, but it is just a tool. It's for life, it's a lifestyle. I don't think you mentally are in the right spot for that. I don't know you and it's possible I'm wrong, but from what you've posted, other options would be better and safer and more productive for you!
  24. I'm getting banded on Friday and I am excited. This year, I won't gain 10 lbs during the holidays. With a little help from my band, I will finally lose the weight and KEEP IT OFF.
