I Attended a seminar a few weeks ago and have a consult with the surgeon scheduled for the 17th. After meeting with him, I'll meet with the dietician. What should I expect during the consult? Will it consist of testing?

Checking in - 14 months post surgery
pjd3253 replied to shelly1066's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on a trip out of the country last week and I am sure I gained a few lbs because my body clock is really messed up right now so I was tighter at different times than usual - anyway, I have been very discouraged lately because I am a year out June 27th and I think I have only lost about 18-20 lbs. I had 50 to lose so almost half but I thought by now I would be almost to my goal. It is very very slow so I feel like I am not losing at all. Sometimes I can eat so much and sometimes like this morning I could barely swallow my protein shake - since I was on a plane for 10 hours yesterday may have something to do with dehydration but I have been thinking a lot the past few days are the scars, the port sticking up, the choking at dinner worth it. I guess I will give it another year and see but my stomach still sticks out so much I can't believe it isn't smaller after 11 months. Thanks for letting me vent. -
Anyone banded May 7 2009?
Bempowered replied to TeganRheana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey! I had the breathing pain issue too. It's better today. I went for my one week followup yesterday and the dr. said it was normal and would relieve itself as the stomach healed. My shoulder pain comes back every now and again, but not for long periods like at first. Hope today was a good day for you. -

Post sleeve skin issues
missbrown30 replied to Pietzsapie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I had an itchy rash that started on my right arm near my shoulder. Then it spread to my left shoulder and back. I had to go to the dermatologist who said it could have been an allergic reaction to the anesthesia. They gave me a cream which has worked but at 3 months post op I still have 1 little bump on my right arm where the rash initially started. I will address this with my dermatologist at my next appointment. I hope all goes well for you. -

Painful Lump Where IV Was Inserted
Corky6984 replied to Canary Diamond's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That happened to me in my arm after my gallbladder surgery and it went away. After getting sleeved, my IV spot was sore for 2 weeks. The vein it was inserted in is now hard. I never paid much attention to it before surgery. I was pissed they put it in my hand! LoL! Hope the lump goes away soon! Sent from my iPhone using VST -

11 days post-op - have not lost any weight!!
Anul posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 11 days post-op. Just came back from a follow-up appointment. While I have healed well - I haven't lost any weight since the pre-op diet. :smile2: Thankfully - I haven't put any on either. My surgeon is not worried about it - but I am. I am still on mushies. He has asked me not to worry about it for another 2 weeks. Is this normal?? Anybody else there in my boat?? -

I haven't vomited yet, but I feel nauseous with just a bite of anything too rich. Had a piece of sourdough bread slathered in butter for my birthday with a glass of white wine, but took just a bite or two, had a couple sips of wine, and said, "I'm done." That would never have happened before: I would have finished the basket, asked for extra butter, and had a second glass of wine. And then be wondering when my dinner would arrive. And maybe order a dessert if I was still hungry. And that's a lot of it. I was starving all the time. 3:00 am fridge runs, gigantic breakfasts, constant grazing, always worrying that I'd be hungry an hour later. It was so hard to keep my stomach from growling. Nowadays, it's really like my body is self-policing. Can't figure it out, but I know that it's just happy with lots of Proteins and Water, a bit of vegetables and fruit, and certain things like coconut -- and even then, it's about 1/3 cup of whatever and I'm full as a tick. Whatever this magic is, I am delighted.

Hello there all of my fellow lapbanders. As many of you are aware, I was diagnosed with breast cancer on December 7, 2010. I am doing well and am currently cancer free. I am in training right now for the upcoming Breast Cancer 3-Day walk that will be in Washington, DC on September 23 - 25, 2011. I participated in the event in 2008 and in 2009, in honor of my Aunt who is a breast cancer survivor. I did not participate in 2010 because of family obligations and that is when I was diagnosed. This walk means the world to me becuase I will be walking it as a SURVIVOR. Below is a link where people can donate to the cause. I ask you to please help me with my fundraising efforts. No donation is too small and all donations are very much appreciated. Please help me... http://www.the3day.org/site/TR/2011/WashingtonDCEvent2011?px=1587446&pg=personal&fr_id=1623 Thank you guys so much...you have NO IDEA how much each of you has helped me throughout the years.

Hi Cori. Welcome to LBT and congratulations on getting your surgery date. It will be here before you know it. I am excited for you!! I was self-pay too and it is a much easier and shorter process. It sounds like you've got a wonderful support system and that is so important!! I have a family that has helped me too - we are lucky, aren't we? I have high blood pressure and just this week, my doctor cut my meds in half and said she doesn't think it will be long before I am off of them completely. Most of us have some medical issues and losing this weight and being healthier is what it's all about!! Good luck to you. Keep me posted on your progress. Becky

Got on the scale today and I am up 4 pounds from last week!!! CRAP!!!! Is this normal, does this happen, how can I not freak out about this?? ???? My brain is going crazy with a million thoughts. Did I stretch my pouch, can I eat more than I should, is this my fault from eating something a little too calorie high? Did I not exercise enough? I feel like I want to cry

Patients who are scheming to have lap band surgery are inquired to stop smoking six to eight weeks before surgery. Patients who do not smoke have less difficulties and it takes not less than a month for the lungs to recover. Smoking damages the lungs which raises the possibility of surgical difficulties. Quitting smoking is powerfully recommended.

?'s about losing weight out the gate...
mommymya posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone! I was banded on December 3rd and I did a pre op diet for two weeks as well as a three day liquid pre op right before surgery. My doc didn't require the two week, but from what I read it seemed it would make it easier on my body. I lost about 10 lbs doing that and then I have lost another 15 since the day before I was banded. I am pretty stoked. However, I have read A LOT on here about how you shouldn't focus on weight loss in the beginning. I know that now is a time for healing. I have been taking it easy and following the diet regimen I was given. But I guess I am nervous. I have read that I should anticipate a gain when I am given the okay for more solid food. So can you guys give me an idea how much I may gain back? Is it a definite that you gain back some? Because I plan to eat the same type things I have been, just not blended. Anyhow, please share your storeis! Thanks! ~Mya -
My surgery was 2/2... I have lost 29 since surgery 40 total. I had a 2 week stall during my first month, and now it's kind of slow going. I am not able to eat a lot and I forget and eat too fast STILL!

Acid Reflux Problems-Need Help!
TklMeSkinny replied to christiana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ask your Dr if it's possible you have a hiatal hernia (not sure my spelling is correct on that). I had one and didnt know it. He repaired it during my lapband surgery and i've only had one bout since surgery! Before surgery, it was a couple times a week, and i was on double doses of protonix, morning and night. Now, i'm only on single doses once a day and as i said only one time in 4 months! Good luck to you! Tkl -
I found out yesterday that my paperwork was submitted on 1/21/15 to the insurance company. This has been the longest 3 months. The real game has begun...now I just sit back and wait. I called the insurance company this morning and of course, it's pending. They will be hearing from me every single day. sooooooo excited! Lord now I just pray I'm approved! I may need someone to pick me up if this doesn't go the way I hope.

Hello; I am being submitted for approval tomorrow and am concerned because I was told that Medicare requires among other things, 5 years worth of doctor notes with weight information. Like many overweight people, I didn't like to be weighed. So for my notes, I only have the last 3 years notes with weights and the first 2 years it says I refused to be weighed. Has anyone else run into this particular problem? I was told that some insurance companies will take pictures if the date of the pic is shown on the pic. I am hoping not to be denied, but was wondering that if they are a stickler for this information, what can I do. I cannot speak to the pre-cert department with United Health Care as they will only speak with the provider. Member services is just telling me to wait until the information is submitted and see if they contact my doctor for more information. I am really started to stress over this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. K
