Any August 2017 Sleevers?
niseys4 replied to Jessalene's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use premire protein drink ! Its way better than powder milk! I remembered my mom use to use that stuff when i was a younster. That was back in the 1960s! Thats how far back that product goes & its still Nasty! I noticed on this forum that everyones Dr is different. For example I am 5 days post op & i can eat yogurt. Jello, cottage cheese & cream of wheat! So far Ive only eatten the greek vanilla yogurt, the jello with protein power added to it & sugar free popsciles! I hope all goes well with you & will have much success! Sent from my SM-T530NU using BariatricPal mobile app -
JANUARY BANDSTERS ~~ how is everyone?
Renee1003 replied to Renee1003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The "exception" that my doc made for me yesterday was VERY much appreciated cause TODAY I feel restriction - for the first time -- nothing MAJOR - but something!!!!!! I just ate a 1/2 of Greek yogurt and I'm good --- I COULD eat the other half but why??? They say the first week after a fill is usually good so we'll see after next week where I'm at. My next fill is scheduled for the 2nd week of april --- Really want to be down another 20 pounds by May --- can't imagine that I won't be able to do it - but I also thought I'd be down so much more by NOW. Reading all that you wrote has helped me - let's all stay in touch. Thanks! -
Pre op Liquid diet SOOOO hard
confusedturtle3 replied to Jayluv's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am only allowed broth, protein shakes, liquids I can see through and 1 Greek yogurt per day. It has been rough but mostly with fighting the head hunger. I desperately want a cookie, a grape or Chinese food but I am not hungry I just want them. I haven’t given in because I know that this is what is best for me and that I only want those because I can’t have them. Today starts day 3 and I am down 5 lbs already. I notice that the days I have school (went back to college) I am ok but my days off are torture. Today I’m off so I plan to fill my spare time with homework and either a trip to the gym or a workout video at home. So far so good. That is great that you are feeling a difference clothing wise, congratulations you are doing great [emoji16]. We will all do great and get healthier together [emoji1360] Have a great day! I eat Greek yogurt with granola every morning.

Hello. I am a month out (yesterday) from gastric bypass. I have had a very difficult time getting fluids and food down since surgery. I have gone twice for fluids due to becoming dehydrated. My Dr. has me on nausea medication that helps some. I'm struggling the last few weeks with throwing up even if I'm not nauseated. I've thrown up Fairlife milk, chicken broth, Greek yogurt, applesauce, even Popsicles from time to time. Anytime I put food or liquids in my stomach, I feel heavy and bloated. Has anyone dealt with this? Did it get better quickly? I'm barely eating more than 3-5 Wheat Thins a day and drinking Gatorade. I'm miserable and am not sure what to do.

I didn't eat baby food or pure anything. I did eat a lot of soup and used my immersion blender to smooth it all out. I couldn't stand the thought of pureed meat but some do and like it. Protein shakes, yogurt and soups for me

February 2024 Surgery Buddies?
NickelChip replied to NickelChip's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Day 5 out of 14 on the pre-op diet and I've settled into somewhat of a routine. I do a Bariatric Fusion cappuccino shake at breakfast with a 20 oz decaf tea that has 1/2 cup Fairlife milk and a scoop of collagen in it. Oikos triple zero yogurt for a mid-morning snack. Bariatric Fusion chicken soup shake for lunch. Jello for snack. 2 scoops Syntrax Nectar unflavored powder in one cup of Pacific Foods tomato basil soup for dinner. Jello for dessert. Sometimes a Good Night protein hot cocoa before bed if I'm hungry. I also take my chewable Celebrate One 45 vitamin, 3 celebrate calcium chews, 2 scoops of Benefiber, Vitagut liquid probiotic, and a liquid omega 3. Believe it or not, all of those supplements add 160 calories and 14g carb to my day! I also drink three 32oz waters with a sugar free flavor packet in each. Total average daily macros: 850 calories, 105g protein, 11g fat, 50g carb Weight loss so far: 7lbs -
Is Reser’s seafood salad acceptable during the purée stage? I’m 2.5 weeks post op and my doc has me on purée. I’ve done homemade refried beans and can tolerate it some, scrambled eggs, broths, yogurts. I’m burnt on protein shakes and I’m trying to work on getting protein from food as much as I can even though it’s quite difficult at this stage. I’m wondering if the seafood salad would help me at all or if I should avoid it at all cost

Hello Everyone! What's your diet consist of?
PuraVida37 replied to WshfullyShrnkng's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Breakfast: egg or Protein shake Lunch: chili / pintos and cheese / turkey cheese roll up / Soup / half a thin whole wheat pita panini Dinner: 2oz of meat with veg. Snacks are Quest bar / protein shake / greek yogurt guacamole with some bean chips (Beanitos) / a couple slices of turkey / sugar free popsicles For liquids I drink tea / Crystal Light / broth / watered down juice I really like eating the same things over and over again. It makes me feel safe, it's easy, and I know it's working!! -
It really does make you feel very isolated. My husband doesn't understand how I can eat something one day and the next day it makes me gag. Some days I eat fine and some days I eat nothing and have to force myself to drink. My staples are Quest bars and a smoothie I make with Greek yogurt, diet cran-grape juice, lemon juice, ice and stevia. It gives me 20 grams of protein plus lots of fluids since I tend to dehydrate easily. I wish I could get in a good pattern of eating regular food but it's just not happening for me yet.

Wait, we can eat pasta? I thought that wasn't allowed. I am so confused on what to eat. Like I eat protien only....I never have room for anything else. Like dinner tonight I took 2 slices of lean turkey from the deli, mixed it with some plain greek yogurt, sprinkled some garlic powder, dried onions and some shredded cheese. It was decent...but that was it....a 1/3 of a cup pretty much. Breakfast was one scrambled egg and lunch was greek yogurt with protien powder mixed in....am I eating right? So confusing!!

Ideas for on-the-go lunches?
enjoythetime replied to Indieflickers's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Cottage cheese Cups, Greek Yogurt with some trail mix mixed in for substance, chicken salad ( you can make a big batch to last you through the week), Hard boiled eggs (I make mine into deviled eggs), in a pinch I always have Protein bars on hand. Hope this helps a little. -
Cannot get any protein shakes down!
BLERDgirl replied to CathyEC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try the clear drinks instead. Isopure make premixed ones, Syntrax nectar can be made with Water. I used ProSource NoCarb the first 2 weeks post op. It was great thinned with water or added to herbal teas. Also look for protein rich beverages. Kefir ( a yogurt drink), cream of chicken, beef, etc... thinned with broth, etc... Milk of choice: cow, hemp, almond have the most protein. -
My surgery day is the same as you. 6/27. 6/7: A group counseling session 6/9: Pre/op day. Meeting with the surgeon again, NUT to review pre/post op diet and bone density scan 6/13: start two week high Protein liquid diet. I believe I am allowed 4 oz of real protein, like chicken, yogurt, eggs and unlimited no starchy veggies with 4 Protein shakes a day. 6/27: THE BIG DAY! I am scheduled to arrive at the hospital at 1:15pm which makes me nervous since you can have nothing to drink, not even Water after Midnight! We're surgery twins!!

Compare Before and After…Your Kitchen!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
Mine is actually more full than it was pre-op. I have a small kitchen with very little pantry space and it is overflowing. Pre-op, I always had milk in my refrigerator. I ate a lot of Cereal and other carbs. Now, in addition to Protein shakes and supplements, I have lots of condiments, spices, herbs, specialty/gourmet food (jars of pickles, olives, peppers, salsas, marinades, etc.). Pre-op, I bought pop by the 2 liter bottle. Now, I have enough tea, crystal light, etc. to fill a cabinet. I did eat a lot of tuna pre-op, but now I tend to buy tuna packets by the case. I also buy mr cheese os by the case. My refrigerator is full of yogurt, cottage cheese, other cheeses, eggs, fresh vegetables, fruit (right now I have fresh raspberries!), and opened bottles of condiments and specialty food (see my pantry). -
August post op sleevers: Check in
Micky71 replied to motherof5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Everyone, So Yesterday was my Sugiversary and I could not be happier with how I am feeling. The odd day of exhaustion and its sometimes been hard with the way your mind turns to negative thoughts or reasoning, but over all i have to say that as of right now this is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have suffered my entire life with being hungry ALL THE TIME. Eating to the point of full for me was like eating for two. I can say that that is gone. I now get full after a few oz. of food and I actually feel satisfied.Don"t get me wrong "head Hunger still comes into play and I know it will be hard at times ie. in social settings or missing foods that I will not be able to consume in mass quantities... but I have realized since I've started some of the soft foods this past few days that i think i may be able to eat more types of food items than i thought.. So far my stomach has behaved and not gotten angry about anything. **FINGERS CROSSED** the thought of eating foods that I have avoided tickles me to no end. Now when I say avoided... this was not due to nutritional value but due to them triggering my appetite. It was hell. Items like Yogurt would make me SUPER HUNGRY... Fat or no fat.. Full of Sugar or No Sugar. Greek or not greek my body just reacted liked an allergy. Today I can eat yogurt and no issue !!!! YAY Anyhow. I'm being long winded. I just wanted to chime in say HEY AUGUST 2014 sleevers Hope everyone is doing well. Here are my stats from this past month, post op Week 1 - 4 Lbs Lost Week 2 - 0 Lbs Lost Week 3 - 2Lbs Lost Week 4 - 7Lbs Lost Micky -
August post op sleevers: Check in
mbrinmn replied to motherof5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm four weeks out today. My surgery was performed in Tijuana by Dr. Lopez's wife, Dr. Jacqueline Osuna. The whole experience was awesome. I have quite felt like moving onto solid foods yet. I'm still very comfortable at the mashed up stage, although I can handle more coarsely mashed/smooshed foods now. I will have to look up Korma chicken. I love chicken...but I have always been a dark meat fan. Guess I'll be switching to mostly breast meat from now on. My problem is trying to keep up with all the protein intake, but keep the calories down. I drink a 25g shake in the morning, but poor unflavored mix into it to add 21g more. Then for a little later snack, I have a cup of Greek yogurt with another pack of unflavored mix stirred in. With all that, I'm sitting pretty good at about 70 grams of protein, but about 526 calories. Gees, protein shakes and powers have a LOT more calories than I would have ever expected. I think I'm sticking close to about 800 calories a day for the time being. I still cannot eat very much at all. I had trouble downing the full cup of yogurt, but I do for the protein. -
@@jillyd Sounds a lot like my first month...dropped weight well but I never wanted to put anything in my stomach. I was never hungry and still have no hunger at all at almost 5 months post-op. If you need to, set an alarm on your phone and MAKE yourself eat a couple of spoonfuls of something every so often. It took me hours to get a whole container of yogurt down, but I had to do it. Add a scoop of unflavored Protein to it and it will help you get your protein requirement met. Eating purees is important in your advancing diet...you have to make the transition from liquids to solids in order to get to a more 'normal' place. I also blended my RTD shakes with ice, to lighten both the taste and texture. If you can tolerate colder foods, you may want to try it. I also added cinnamon to the chocolate shakes, to cut the sweetness a bit. Good luck, and you'll get tons of good ideas and support here. Congratulations on your surgery and the beginning of your healthier life...I'm amazed every day by how much better I feel, looking better is a bonus Welcome to the Losers' Bench!!

Vee.. replied to diana9014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how u feel. I was so over it. I stopped eating 8 days before I transitioned to purees although it wasn't the best thing to do but I sucked on sugar free popsicles and yogurt and orange juice(trop 50) and it kept me leveled also don't forget to hydrate hope this helps. -
1/2 the person I used to be
Frustr8 replied to FancyChristine15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hoping and praying I can duplicate this . And the last 2 nights I have been vomiting, and when I go for checkups they keep noting I am doing well for ____months.I am not, stop noting pacifing things. This not the way things are supposed to be, will I have to scream today. to get someone to listen? Have an appointment at 3pm today, May be Only with Nurse Practioner Valerie, no sign of my surgeon, well having a mini-pity party at this second. Maybe I'll never see him again unless I need surgery again. Perhaps I get only a nurse because my case is BORING? Well last weight was 224 on Thursday, I won't make 1/2 until I make goal, maybe 50 pounds to go. I was literally twice as big as I should be when I set out on the journey, lost about 125 since then, 95 or 96 pounds since surgery date 8 months ago, those sound fine except this AM my baby tummy is SORE. They told me at last EGJ things are healing well from what could be visualized, not so certain in my 💔of. ❤s. I have taken enough Carafate to build a patio, enough PPI to last until I'm 80, still do best. with protein shakes, RTF or powder reconstituted, soups with minimal or no texture to them, applesauce, occasional mashed up fruit or veggies, am I on a Mechanical soft died the rest of my life? In theory I should be on Stage 4 or at least Stage 3, but when I venture towards such, up things come! Still unable to handle banana, peanut butter, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese. eggs, or meat. Ground up?,Can't even handle ham salad with nothing added like pickle relish, celery or even diet mayo. So many abortive trials I am also sickened by the thought of trying once more. Oh I do take all my vitamins, minerals, all the things PCP and Bariatric staff think I need, maybe that's what keeps me alive because a varied diet sure isn't. It is fatigue- ing to throw a tantrum but perhaps it's what I need to have someone listen for once! I want my joy back , I want my digestion back, I want to feel better and this blase treatment isn't making it for ME. -
Anyone for October 2020?
SabanFan replied to barbieater's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Looks like your post was cut little short, but glad to see you are acclimating to the new life and getting around. I have three more days of liquid and can't wait to jump into the next phase. Hopefully the addition of some yogurt will help with the "black tongue" issue I've noticed of late. -
WHERE ARE MY AUGUST 2021 PEEPS?
Bariatric Boy replied to phenomenally_me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Day 6 - feeling no pain at all and getting 70 grams of protein mainly through shakes and plain greek yogurt. Puree & Filtered soups have helped mix it up but my energy level is very low.....tire easily after walking for 10 min. Going full pureed foods this Friday so maybe that will help. -
May Surgeries - check in!
SummerTimeGirl replied to ChunkyCali's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For real! Day 10 here and I usually LOVE soup but this just may change my mind about that. LOL It's like, when you feel hungry no amount of broth, water, or yogurt is gonna cut it. I NEED MEAT!! LOL -
Hi there everyone Today is the first day I've felt a bit more like myself, managed to have a decent sleep last night which has obviously helped! I really am so surprised that this op has taken so much out of me, I didn't expect to feel this wiped out - just as well I'm off work for the week, how can anyone go straight back to work after having this done?! Coco, hope you're well, stop beating yourself up about the eating, like you said, if you'd excellent willpower you wouldn't have been banded - I hear that!! Allure, it was good to read your posts, sounds like you've had a bit of a battle with the band. Still, look at what you've achieved in spite of it. Scrambled egg for me today - yum! I was so fed up just with the lack of texture of the yogurts and soup of the past few days. Can't wait to get these stitches out on Sunday and then back to work on Monday... well, not really too enthused about going back to work on Monday, but will be nice to get back to a normal daily routine, the daytime tv is doing my head in! Keep strong Debb
