    January Bandsters???

I feel the exact same way. The scales are saying "I gained" however, my clothes are saying "I've lost". I also had a NSV yesterday. I was sitting at a red light when I could feel someone looking at me, I looked over the left and there were these two young boys giving me the looks and smiling at me. LOL. Wow, even though I'm 40 and happily married for 19 years, it still felt good to have these young boys notice me. They probably would have crapped their pants had they known I was 40. LOL. Here is another NSV I had, a guy I work with came up to me yesterday and said my face looks so much thinner and not only that, my complextion looked so much smoother too. He said he could tell I was losing weight. No one from work knows I had the Lap-Band surgery, but they they know I had a hernia repair, so thats all they think. Its just nice when someone notices. It lifts my spirits.

    January Bandsters???

Oh MY Gosh!!! Did you guys know that smaller sizes are cheaper?!?!?! Going from a 30 to a 24 in size, ordering from Roaman's catalog and I get all excited! My entire adult life I've scanned the listings in catalogs to the absolute bottom, crossing my fingers (and toes) that the size would go large enough. Was trying to order some smaller clothes (yah!) and 12 - 24 is $5.00 cheaper than 26 - 36! Another NSV that I didn't see coming!

    January Bandsters???

Sunshine....That's fantastic!!!! I had tears in my eyes I was so happy for you! Congrats on your decision on what to tell the sis-in-law and kudos to your DH for supporting your decision....I've got a DH like that too! Does anyone else have any NSV's to share? I love to hear them. The best one I've felt good about so far is when my 11 year old son comes up to hug me and says OMG you're getting so little!

    January Bandsters???

Sunshine2 Now THAT's what I call a great NSV! (Non scale victory for our new friends!) Don't we all have a few people we want to run into when we get to goal?! Old boyfriends... old boses... unkind people! Victory is living well! Congrats! Kim :kiss2: 223ps/217s/202t/135g banded 1/30/07 first fill 3/09/07

    January Bandsters???

Hi Terry! Cognrats on the 40lbs! It seems for a few of us here that is where things start to slow down. So I had an awesome NSV last night! I went to a wedding, and I didn't feel like wearing nylons because it was so hot out. I put on my favorite pair of dress pants, not thinking about the fact that they were still technically "fat pant". Well, I was on the dance floor, and I noticed I had to keep hiking them up. It was so annoying that I gave up on the dancing. Later on, I went to the bathroom and discovered I could pull them down without unbuttoning! DH was laughing because I was so bummed I wouldn't be able to wear these pants again. He was like, hey, aren't you supposed to be glad that you're shrinking out of things?! He's right, of course.

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

NSV moment... I had a massage this morning (my work benefits pay for it!!!!) and when she was massaging my calf muscles and the back of my thighs (whatever they are called), it actually was sore. That's never really happened before. She said it was due to my running, that I'm working those muscles hard right now. You'd think it would have hurt before, but I think since those are my strongest muscles (for me I'm all leg!), all I've really been working so far is my cardio, not necessarily my legs... but now I'm getting to the good stuff! I'm resting today and plan to run the rest of the week. I want this to be a 6 runs out of 7 days week!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

PJ Welcome to the 50+ Gang - We are a great bunch and you aren't the only newbie - infact - Densie, Me, Phyl & Peaches are the only oldiest who are still posting. Congrats on your date - it's your new birthday !!! Well, as I stated before - don't have any plans for today - my son & his family have moved away so it's just me & GS who 17 and doesn't have time for his grandma , plus after my vegas weekend last weekend I am looking forward to a little R&R - but so far I have been up since 6:30 coffee then to the gym 3.5 miles - incline varied but got up to 10 without holding on (per my trainer & I have read this before holding on you don't burn as many calories as your legs are not carrying your full weight - and yes it does make a diff) Home in the pool for a few laps to cool off and then found out I had a great NSV - I no longer float last yr at this time I was bobbing in the pool like a beached whale - and this summer I sink :cool2: Loving it.. Funny how something so stupid as that can really make your day... Been to the store for weekly shopping - home put all stuff up and now let's see it's 2:15 I am sitting down - so much for my R&R Well think I will go watch a movie or read - will CBL  Remember - good food choices - and 3 bite rule :tt2:
  8. NSV today: Went shopping at NY& Co. And passed right by Lane Bryant! The first time shopping there in ten years. Fit a pair of size 16 short shorts and they are so cute and sexy!!!!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi All and thanks for all the welcomes and best wishes. Saw the Dr today and he was happy with my progress (10 lbs since op on 4/23rd and 25 total now). He has moved me to diet of mushies for next 2 weeks and then to soft foods the following 2 weeks. I'm so excited to have more options to eat. My first fill is not until May 30th. He said to start working out slowly and build up. I had broken my right foot on Feb 18th so I am still healing from that too and I didn't tell him about that because I didn't want that to affect my having surgery. I took off my boot from the Orthopedist and wore my tennis shoes, walking very delicately, when I went in to see him twice before surgery and told him I had a small turn of the ankle which was healing fast..... He did say, "Well you have to be mobile to be able to have the surgery" and I told him that I was up and about and on my eliptical so it didn't become an issue. I am up to 15 minutes on the eliptical as regular walking is still too slow and probably not helping much excercise wise and want to work that out to more but I can't do my health rider (which is like a rower) yet because that pulls on my abdominals. I did have questions on what is NSV and SV and PB? Gotta get up on my lapbandonics.... Its a happy day for me:thumbup:. Have a great weekend everyone. Yvonne

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Wow....as usual, I am in awe of how well everyone is doing. 100 pounds in 7 months???? Unbelievable. You are all so inspiring to me. I had two victories today: finally, after 2 weeks of not moving, that blankety-blank scale went down a pound! I stayed with the low carb program, charting everything I ate on myplate.com, and thank goodness, it is working again. Hope that continues. Also, and probably a silly NSV to many, I was able to eat romaine! Now, before this process, I was a salad lover and had prepared myself psychologically to give up salads. I was brave today and ordered a chicken caesar without dressing and croutons. I ate about 1/4 of it, after I chopped it up with a knife (kind of like a cobb salad can be) and took tiny bites. Nothing ever tasted as good as that romaine lettuce did today! I have the rest in the fridge for another time (or two or three), and I am a happy woman. Now to lose the rest.... Nancy
  11. WOW Laura....made my weekend sound like a total bore!! Great NSV getting hit on. Great isn't it??
  12. I forgot to share my NSV -- the Birthday boy - Adam, he has been over to the house a few times a week recently - and I am always in my old (baggy) sweats, wearing 4 or 5 shirts/sweatshirts (I am always cold). I wore black jeans and black/white shirt there and it was warm enough that I didn't have a jacket on -- and when I got out of the car- he exclaimed OMG look at you -- you have lost A LOT of weight - and I said yes I have - he's like no I mean A LOT OF WEIGHT -- you look absolutely wonderful -- giving me a big bear hug! whooo hooo!
  13. The pics are awesome, Michelle!!! And patooie on the arms on the first pic... check out the curves!!!! You got a waist, woman!!!:cursing: And notice that your daughter can get her arm around you, but not around Eore.. Now that's a NSV if I ever saw one. Big smiles in every picture. Love it! Thanks for sharing. And glad to have you back. I've kicked up the exercise and good eating habits too. Only 92 days til the Bandiversary Bash.. woooo hooooooo!
  14. Great NSV Judy!! That is so cool! That reminded me of mine...my mom came over to pick up Macy Friday and as soon as she saw me she said "your losing weight again aren't you?" WOOT! I had not even told her I was back on the wagon. Made me feel wonderful!
  15. Home from the rodeo---my little girl in her pink boots and cowboy hat LOVED it. She loved the Queen contenders the most---everytime she would see one of them with their local crowns-tiaras on their cowboy hats, she would get all twitterpated! She was bouncing when she found out she did not have to see them being mean to the baby cows as she refers to the calf roping!!! She got in trouble as we were leaving, so her tears made her fall asleep that much faster---and she has been conked out ever since. I called her Daddy and had a talk with him, I wanted him to hear her crying! He is teaching her to be a smart aleck and I do not like it at all! We were walking to the truck, and we were talking about the bronc riding, and I ask her "How 'bout we put YOU on one of those wild bronco horses?" And she matter of factly replied "How about you bite me?!" It infuriated me, I ask her who lets you talk like that? My Daddy says it she tells me....lip quivering. I told her she would never say that to Granny again, or she would get a spanking----and further more, I meant it! He laughed when I told him. So I told him I didn't think it was funny, he was turning her into a snot like my niece that he nor anyone could stand for years due to her mouthiness!!! I told him when she is 6 no one will want to be around her just like they couldn't stand to be around Kelcie and her smart mouth. He finally apologized and said he would stop and he would talk to her about being mouthy. We'll see.......so anyway she is still sleeping. I should be cleaning, my house has taken not only a backseat this week, I don't think it made it onto the list at all!! I was burning alive outside while we did some things out there, so I succumbed to the ice! BUT.....I just got the shaved ice plain, and had the bright idea to pour a diet Dr. Pepper over it. It was not a good plan!!! The shaved ice is too delicate for the carbonation, so it watered it down to yuckiness!!! But it also took care of the craving!! LOL I am beginning to wonder to Suzanne knew how to swim.......she disappeared when the pool went in!! I really wonder if the other worker ended up not working after all and she is locked in the Curves unable to escape!! Has anyone thought of a good place for us to meet next?? Haydee I knew your wedding would go wonderfully!!! You are so beautiful anyway, I can only imagine you in the light of the sunset, and the twinkling candles--I seriously doubt the bride held up in comparison! Congrats on the plane NSV!! Well, I have finished snacking at my chicken salad....so guess I will go do something with my house while the kiddo is sleeping. We will have making up to do after she wakes up, and some talking to do as well!! It is hard----I am trying my best to use different rewards, and different methods with her. Not to use food----as a celebration or consolation thing. I also do not want to totally spoil her by buying things for those times. So I am trying to make doing something the reward---like going to the park---but it is so fricken hot! I think today if she wakes up in time, and we talk we might do a run through the sprinkler---Granny too!!! Kat
  16. Just got done with 5 miles on the bike and 10 minutes on the glider. I tried the stepper and I'm not likin' it. I'll offer it to DD and if she doesn't want it, it goes back. It works the same parts of the body that the elliptical trainer does and I like the trainer so much better. Just seems better made. Pork chop leftovers are in the fridge for tomorrow's lunch. I couldn't finish my chop, but the Bobster devoured his and was slurping more sauce when I caught him in the kitchen. We got our next fill scheduled for March 17.. the nurse told us to remember to wear green! Pam...don't ya just love the pbs..?? specially in public. I swear there are times I feel like a bulemic. DD says it's an adventure eating with her parents now. She says.. "I know every time you sit back and cross your arms, that in a minute you're gonna head for the bathroom!". I noticed that she had left one of my sweaters in my bathroom and I asked if it was hers or mine. She said it was mine and that she was going to wear it last night, but changed her mind. I'm almost positive the reason she didn't wear it was that it was too small for her. It is a little tight on me, but her belly is sticking out more than mine these days. An NSV for me, but I feel bad for her. Don't want to mention her weight cause her emotions are so fragile while she's trying to get pregnant. Kat...hindsight says it would have been better for you to munch on that m&m rather than go through all this with your tooth!! But you were being a good bandster! And when I read the recipe called for a mortar and pestle, I thought....... shucks, dont' have one of those. So I improvised with a little bowl and the bottom of a jar. Not as efficient, but the Bobster never complained of tapioca globs. Time to go watch a little tv and run on the trainer for a bit. Then hit the hot tub, head to bed and get up early for Ethan again tomorrow. I'll check back before I head to bed. TTFN.....

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Well, I did it. I consumed an entire Taco Bell Naco Grande platter. By.My.Fucking.Self. No, I did not need it. No I did not need it. No I did not need it. Although, before banding I would of consumed mine plus hubbys and then some of DD and then maybe some tacos on top of that....with mexi fries and a huge ass drink. So, I guess I am still up and up from before banding. One NSV I had the other day at grocery store. I ran into an old friend and haven't seen her in about a year. She says, "looks like you lost some weight".....hell, I was happy that someone noticed.... I could of kissed her...on the mouth....with some tongue....(just kidding, just had to throw that in for you J!!, and the guys)
  18. Judy & Pam-Great NSVs!! Congrats! Good morning everyone. I kept dd home again today. Yesterday evening she started running a low grade fever again and I would have been foolish to bring her back to the day care with a low resistance. I might just call my boss in a minute and tell him to just plan on seeing me back Monday. We both need the time to heal completely. As for me, it is just the weirdest thing. I have chills, hot cold hot cold like I have a fever, take my temp and it is normal. I just do not get it?! I mean body aches and the whole 9 yards. My temp has not gone over 100 but maybe once or twice but I feel like death waarmed over! Weird. Have a great day violets!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Michelle congrats on the scale moving - I'm going to have the caterpillars removed today too. LOL. Enjoy your day of you, you deserve it! Mine is not but I have been so sick, even if I'm not really eating, I am not really drinking either. I'm bouncing between 212 & 214 but... I did another set of measurements today because even though my scale has not really moved in a few weeks, or so it seems, everyone has been telling me how great I look. So I am down another 2 inches. I'lll take that 51 inches lost forever! My NSV for today, my jeans that i very comfortably now fit into got put in the dryer on High heat - they still fit and went on nicely. I have never put my clothes in the dryer, let alone jeans and on High heat! YIKES. And one of my favorite new shirts I actually tied the back on my own today and it is getting big on me. So I am dressed and ready to go - busy day today
  20. NSV Alert!! I just made dd's 9th birthday cake... a chocolate mousse cake... from scratch!... and didn't even so much as lick a finger!! Amazing & hallelujah! (Now if I can keep away from it tonight!!)
  21. Judy? Haydee? Hi violets!! It is so nice for everything to be back to normal again. All unpacked & things are put away. Holidays are over...life does not get any better. I have a pic I want to post...maybe I will do it this weekend. About 6 months ago (around there) dh and I went to an Astros ballgame and they gave away t-shirts that day (Jeff Bagwell for those who know who he is) anyway, theyonly handed out XL and when I got home I put it on and it was so tight I felt like I was wearing a condom (or at least I guess that is wht it would feel ike since I AM a female, lol). Back then, I asked dh to take my pic with it on. The other day I put it on and was sure it was probably still snug...not at all. It fit perfectly. So, now I will take an after with it on and show you all. HUGE NSV for me. Everyone have a great evening!
  22. Great2BThin

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

NSV = Non Scale Victory I'll have to be careful about the left over meat. So far I haven't had a problem or if I have it wasn't left over and because I ate too fast or too big of bite. I'd love to do a Hawaii cruise. We did them in opposite orders.
  23. Good morning girlies! Kinsey and I just finished Breakfast, 3 pieces of bacon and an egg. I lost teh damned 1/2 pound that I complained would not budge, so I am going to continue to try this, I will take 1/2 pound at a time if that is how it is going to be now!!! Lets see NSV's have been plentiful this week! I volunteered for this rodeo when it was here last which was 4 years ago, and 6 years ago. Many of the vendors, and several families are the same (younger siblings), they have been jaw drop shocked a few times. It always makes me have a high/low emotional response. I am happy they think I look better now, but their shock makes me realize what a horror I must have been then! Anyway---- I am back on a horse for this rodeo, I have even run the barrels just for old times sake--- I played volleyball, and did not feel the least bit self concious --like Tracy's bathing suit! I have willingly posed for pics with some of the kids. I tried on and bought clothes at the trade shows. I wore a vest! I would never before, because the belly hanging under it was disgusting! I can see my own belt buckle! It has been an exhausting week, but I am able to keep up! I can load my own horse, do my own "work" Rick is not prepping everything for me this time around. I actually caught a couple of young (17) guys checking out my cleavage! Oh yeah they check out ANY cleavage!!! But 4 years ago, they would not have looked past the extra weight to even realize I had boobs! I danced with the program director, and was not overly stressed by it----although like the boys above 4 years ago, I totally believe he would never have ask! I mean there are 800 volunteers---so it would not have been any big deal to skipped over me! Like I say this has been an eye opening week, at how much more I can and DO do. (yep I said doo doo!!) I feel humbled at the enormity of change in my life. I include the discovery of such good friends in those changes. You have made a huge difference in this happening! Laura, I am sorry you are going through this with your sister---I know back when my brother was drinking, it was really hard. Not just to watch what he was doing to himself, but what his problems did to our parents, they just wilted with stress and worry, and fear for his life and hoping he did not kill someone else in the spiral down. Nothing seemed to help. Finally he sobered up, and has been sober now for almost 10 years. Hope your sister can do as well. Rick's field crew had problems last night and called him no less than 8 times, led to a rough nights sleep---for both of us! Well I am going to go to the store and restock Abbey's bedside basket, and then head to the fairgrounds. The morning show begins at 9---but some of the rodeo events Kinsey HATES! Goat tying, calf roping, she actually cried over them! So I plan to hit it for the barrel racing, pole bending, and bronc riding----so I better get my butt in gear!! Talk to y'all this afternoon. More basketball, so I am free!!! Also a family small bore rifle competition--------not involved there either!!! Kat
  24. Wow Panda, you look great! You have to update your avatar!! & congrats on the coaster ride -- it really is the NSVs that make this journey so fun! "Pregnant w/ice cream's baby!" -- you CRACK ME UP Laura!!! But I still stand by my honesty @ typing what I'm feeling... hey, if I can't be honest HERE, then I'm screwed, cuz' really, no one in REAL life cares all THAT much to sit & listen to it every day... like YOU GUYS DO!! ((hugs)) And while I do completely celebrate my -53... @ the same time... realistically... when someone looks @ me, I'm still a 264 lb woman!! That's the wt a lot of the gals on here STARTED at!! It's not as if I'm going to be hitting ONE-derland any time soon or anything! Sheesh, by the time I get there, I'll probably be the only one left posting to this thread, as everyone else will have hit their ultimate goals and gone on to enjoy full & productive skinny lives... and then there was one... me... posting to myself & the dust bunnies... (hee hee) BUT... SLOW & STEADY!!... that's me!!! & today's a new bright shiny day!! Make it a great one, everyone!!
  25. Hi all----well I have wonderful news....and not so wonderful news....but it is not terrible news!!! LOL---ok enough lead in! Kinsey is coming home tomorrow! She has eaten, and pooped, and that is what they were waiting for! The intestine is all alive, and functioning---Thank You God! What a relief! She is down about 4-5 pounds, which is not good, she is now skinny, not just small---but we will work on getting it back on her. The not so good news----Rick has it. I believe he caught it from me. It took about the same length of time for me to catch it from the girlie, and then him from me. It was a scary afternoon, with him throwing up. I kept a phone with me every second, ready to dial 911. But he never had any blood, and he has gotten past the worst of the nausea. Luckily for the rest of us, it was about a 24 hour bug---vicous for the duration though! He is still dealing with the other bathroom issues, and some fever, and headache....but the throwing up was the thing we most feared, and he survived it without issue. He is in bed sleeping it off now. The rest of us have moved past it now....hope this bug is finished with my family now!! I had a NSV today that I NEVER would have expected. I have neighbors to the south, that are super snobby!!! They are quite well off, and have always looked down their noses at me! I never let it get to me, I blow them off. It isn't just me, the rest of the neighborhood---we all get together and we all visit, but the 2 to my south, are very snooty. They both are successful local business owners. Well today I run into the couple that lives right next door in the store, while I was buying 7-up etc. for Rick. And this perfectly groomed, prissy never bigger than a size 6 neighbor tells me "Well I didn't even recognize you, you've gotten so slim". And she went on to chat with me, like we were real neighbors---I guess my large size offended her or something.....???? Not caring that she spoke---but she called me SLIM!!!!!! Had to laugh, because Rick has been jokingly referring to me as Slim. I am bouncing 2 pounds again.....they come off, they return....so will be seriously joining the exercise challenge on Tuesday. Tomorrow will be another crazy day I imagine, getting Kinsey out of the hospital, and to ortho to get her cast off....and at some point my DD needs to go and be at her new job!!!! So I am shooting for Tuesday.....maybe I should actually go get on the eliptical, and start NOW!!!! Well....I am going to go check on my email----it should be nice and full!! Hope all went well for Laura. Terry, glad you guys got to go spend some time having fun. It really does help. I enjoyed last night so much, we laughed and talked, seemed like we had not connected in days. Gotta tell you what a wonderful friend I have. She had to leave while Kinsey was in the hospital to go to TX to a family reunion, and we talked on the phone, so she knew I had been sick as well, and at the hospital all the time. She bought me a Merry Maid visit, to do some things I was complaining about needing to do. Someone opened a pop and splattered my windows in the back, during the luau I think, so she is having all my windows cleaned! And they are going to clean all my light fixtures! Sounds silly, but I have some that are pretty intricate....I never even knew they would do that! I wanted to do them before the party but never got it done. They will do it Tuesday! FUN!!!! Ok---I am off, need to check on DH----talk to you all tomorrow!!!! Hugs- Kat
