    Loss of appetite

the loss of taste is something i would call your doctor about. As for everything else. 1. get your water in - lets be real here none of us would starve to death very quickly we all have or had 10's of thousands of stored calories called fat. That no energy crash you are going thru, could be your body is not making the switch from Carb burn to Fat burn very smoothly or quickly. The longer your were overweight and the more you used to graze eat the harder it is for your system to get back to a normal that you do not even remember. So first call doc about sense of taste. keep getting all your water - dehydration is very bad eat what you can and not a bit more and don't raise your stress level over it. The mental aspect of post surgery is so much more important than some believe. Try any and everything to Relax - High stress levels will slow or stop your progress. First call your doctor when they open this morning if you haven't already. Good luck and keep posting your progress. we all learn from each others journey

    1st week after sleeve

My surgery date was 7/22/2019, so tomorrow will make my official 1 week. i think I may be a (lucky) anomaly. I have not experienced any difficulty in drinking my water & protein drinks. I haven't had much gas. While I was sore & swollen for the first 4 days, today most of the swelling is gone. The best thing for me? I'm NOT hungry! I'm lovin' this! I hope it lasts.
  3. I started walking around my yard for 10 minutes 3x a day for the first week after surgery. Beginning week 2, and with my bariatric team consent, I began getting 10k steps a day (5k a.m. and 5k p.m.). I'm now 1 month post-op and walk 3 miles a.m. and bike 3 miles p.m. I'm looking forward to adding swimming into my routine this week 😊 I'm released to do all normal activities at the end of the week, so I'll be adding in strength training soon too. The most important thing is to follow the advice of your dr. Good luck and have fun adding in activities that you enjoy!

Thank you. I’m doing fine. I do clear liquids and liquids. Meaning 10 days out I am eating cottage cheese soft cheese apple sauce and scrambled eggs. Lol not sure I should be eating soft foods yet guess Dr will tell me on Tuesday when I see him. I have lost 19 pounds since surgery.
  5. Nice! Glad you have had a loss. Our bodies just seem to need a break from losing. I'm at almost 73, but have so far to go. I need to lose 87 more pounds to get to my Dr's goal which would leave me with a lot of hanging skin, so I guess that's why he says 180. Your trip sounds so wonderful! Never been there, but we are planning a month of just traveling the United states in 2 years one my husband can retire part time, so will definitely checking NOLA off our list! I had myself a b52 coffee about a month ago and was out of this world! Tonight my daughter is making pina coladas and trying to tempt me, but my calories are at 1200 and I don't wanna add more sugar, so wah for me🤪 Glad you're losing again and I know it's frustrating losing so slow. I weigh so much more and only lost about 6 pounds in June and about 5 this month. We will look back in 6 months and we will both be closer to the finish line! Wishing you all the best! Edit: I checked my Fitbit, I weigh in there, and I lost 5.1 for June and I lost 7.3 do far this month. Hoping to get to 10, but who knows? I would be happy with 5 pounds a month, that would put me near goal.
  6. I did the same it took 4 days. I had southern BLT, shrimp, and grits with collards, a local side salad, and a pastrami sandwich. I gained 2 pounds savored each bite and don't regret a thing. I'm now 3 days from surgery and down 10 pounds so 2 of those were wonderful.
  7. Well , my goal all along has been size 15 Junior/175 pounds. The junior because for a Once very obese 🐤 and now lost feathers, claws and spurs, and probably my break and comb next, joke I already look like a Plucked Pullet in neighborhood of 190, scrawny neck, what seems like sunken- in cheeks, the whole sad train- wreck I think I LOOK like , although most people say I DON'T. I maybe chose 175 because it was a little over one- half the High Weight I once had 2 years ago, and after having Medical personnel say " OMG, You're at least 175 pounds overweight; that number, like a Bad Scar, I just can't escape it showing. Will 175 give me that cherished hope of a Size 15? Not certain, at this point I am either a 18 or 19, depending on which style pallets I'm dabbling in. I do miss Me, some of the old look I used to have, even the last time I was this size, Maybe summer of 1967, I still looked quite different. Although many say I do Not LOOK MY Age, I fear I look closer to the years I really have lived. Will they know ME when I walk into the Bariatric Clinic on August 14th? If they don't, IT IS THEIR OWN STUPID FAULT, not MY CHOICE not to be seen for 4 almost 5 months. Either it is Benign Neglect or I am NOT as interesting as once I was. Nurse Practitioner Valerie has decided to "grandfather" me into Good Health, does not want to do an additional EGJ even though I feel my ulcers are back again, the gnawing sensation eating , drinking milk, or even abstaining from food, nothing seems to relieve it. Yes I faithfully take my PPI once a day, have taken Carafate every 6 hours around the clock since October 12 2018, missed very few doses, probably could count them on my fingers and HAVE a digit or 2 left. But Valerie has made up in her little mind I am all BETTER, a miracle healing, Maybe she Moonlights as an TV Evangelist? Oh it is ONLY MY BODY after all, how dare I believe I might not be PERFECT by now? Oh,I have kept my faith with my surgeon, the Great White Kahuna of it All, I promised on July 17th 2018 if HE would permit and perform my Surgery he would never hear a Whine , Complaint or me saying I regretted Anything about my Road TO and Through RNY and I have kept My Promise! I, on the other hand made No Such Promise to Ms VALERIE Moore, Certified Nurse- Practioner along with her other titles , like Masters in Nursing, Advanced Practice Validation/ Certification and GOD himself knows What Else. I am basically placid, sweet- tempered, put up up with enough BS to fertilize A Very Large Garden Plot, but at 73 just how much do I Endure before fighting back at least verbally? I have submitted, rolled over until I can't launder the soil out of my clothes, I would cry at the injustice but turning the " Other Cheek" gains one 2 bruised cheeks and permanently Red Eyes and Ragweed season is nearly over, can't pass this off as Allergies as I once did. So better off or worse? I am thinner, look better, almost have a figure that Appears like a More Average Woman. But to gain this, I had MAJOR surgery, elected to make myself an Gastrointestinal Cripple. Yeah, in theory since I was an RNY, I could be reconnected since I did not lose my stomach, just had it divided into 2 sections, but what Guarantee do I have that ability to. take more than 6 ounces of anything in food, renewed enervation, natural peristalsis and all the things I once could take for granted WOULD work once again ? And Although I know my surgeon has more than adequate skills to effect this, would he be willing to? Would Medicare/ Medicaid fund another and MOST IMPORTANT-- Could I actually survive another? Yeah Alex Brecher did, but He's a Whole Lot Younger and his was to Save His Life, not to. merelyfeel better. Sorry folks, but tonight The.Big Brave Cowgirl has rode this pony until we are both 😫 Tired, stable one or both of us until Sunrise.💦😪&🐎

    July 2019 Surgery Siblings Post-Op

I had my sleeve surgery on July 24, 2019
  9. So glad to see the loss is starting again. Gaby we are both February sleevers and I’ve just now hit 67 pounds lost since surgery date, 75 pounds lost since I started the 10 day pre-surgery prep. I lost a whopping 6.2 pounds in June, but over 12 inches. Remember to measure, measure, measure because our bodies do weird things when the scale isn’t moving as fast as we’re worked the program. After my “impressive” 6 pound June loss, I struggled mightily for the first 3 weeks in July where I’d managed to lose all of 2.4 pounds. I was sooooo close to hitting the 180’s and I’d bounce between 181-183 for 2 weeks and thought I was gonna pull my hair out. Then I remembered that I was desperately trying not to lose any more hair so that wasn’t an option. I just had a really decadent weekend a week ago in NOLA —complete with beignets and giant frozen pina coladas, a hurricane, and a slice of pizza, and don’t even get me started about my 3 old-fashions at the spotted cat last Saturday night! Came back from that trip on Monday, weighed myself yesterday and again today and I’m DOWN almost 4 pounds. 🤷‍♀️ Oh and I’m still constipated as hell even though I’ve drank a serving of miralax every day since Tuesday, lol Can’t wait to see how finally being able to have a bm or two might help out, ya know? Anyways...... I have no idea why our bodies are so dang fickle and want to be stubborn and not make sense but it seems like just when I start to lose all hope and I’ve convinced myself that I’ll be the most spectacular fail of all when it comes to WLS, I randomly start losing again. Editing to add:  this mornings weigh-in had me at 177.6!  Haven’t been in the 170’s since 1996.

    Holy pistachios Batman!!!

So my opinion is that you appear FAR too pleased to have them in your life. That is a huge red flag for me when I see myself and others do this. Cuz 9 times out of 10 it represents a behavior that announces the presence of a red flag food. Like, if they live in your house somewhere, you will choose to eat them preferentially over other food choices...and that you are receiving a high reward/lizard brain opiod hit from them--which reinforces a relationship and/or behavior. And that means at some point? You will begin eating them with abandon and that they could stall or stop your losses. Of course I could be full of crap. I'm sure it's that. I have proof that I'm 9/10ths crap.

    Tummy pain

I was the same and regretted surgery , now I’m 5 weeks post op and still have a little pain when I drink to fast or eat food I’m learning that affects me badly. It gets easier I promise. I’m down 34 kg and had surgery 18 June 2019
  14. Day 10 of Pre-op diet. 3 to go plus one day of clear liquids. It's getting so close, I can taste it!

  15. Hey everyone. I’m new to this and so excited about my surgery on 8/26/19. Any advice or suggestions I need to know about? You know like maybe somethings I need to be prepared for that doctors don’t tell you???

    New and Nervous

Hi, I am so sorry for everything you have been through. I myself had the sleeve June 8, 2019 for health reasons. I lost 20 lbs already and I feel good. It is so nice to not be hungry all the time. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired. I would say you already answered your question. I put on a few pounds so I would qualify and made my mind up and never looked back. I was taken off my blood pressure medicine after 1 week. I am off my Meloxicam now for my inflammation and I am doing well without it right now. I take the meloxicam and Stelara for my psoriatic arthritis. You need to do what is best for you, if you need the hernia surgery do whatever you need to get it done. This is something that could change your life for the better. If I were you I would go for it. I am glad I did. Sometimes it easier to just make a decision and not question it. Just keep going forward. Good Luck to you.

    Chronic pain and exercise

Thank you for your support. I've been to physical therapy and didn't see any major results. I really am hoping that the weight loss will reduce the pain in my foot, and maybe then I can return to physical therapy. But I love what you said about improving in small bits. I have a recumbent bike at work, and I've made it up to 10 minutes a few times without pain, though most days I only do 5 minutes. But I only do this a couple of times a week, if that. However, even if I just do 5 minutes a day, then increase to 6 minutes the next week, and so on, it's at least something. It's SOME form of exercise. I haven't been taping my foot like I used to, so thank you for the reminder about that as well.
  19. I just wanted to update that I have begun losing weight again. I have lost 5 pounds this past 10 days or so. Stalls are so crazy scary and no matter all the posts on here about it, I know in my head they happen. I see them a lot and think to my self, Wow they need to relax, it will come off. It's hard to weigh repeatedly the same weight for over 2 weeks and not get freaked out that this might be the end. Thank you all for listening and responding!!💗
  20. Hello everyone, Thank you all for taking the time to reply to my post. I guess one of my biggest concerns is the fact that for over 2 years I've had chronic pain in my left foot that doesn't allow me to do much. I don't know how to swim. I can go for a 10 minute walk or do about 10 minutes on the recumbent bike right now. I can also work out to some chair exercise videos, but that's about it. I'm hoping beyond hope that the weight loss from surgery will relieve the pain in my foot, allowing me to up my exercise/cardio. At the same time I'm scared that my foot won't heal, thus preventing me from losing the amount of weight that I want to. I've been to physical therapy, I have customized orthotics, and have received countless cortisone injections in my foot. Anyway, I was just wondering, how intensely did you all work out? Did you find that sticking to the proper diet was more effective for weight loss?

    10 Week Post-Op Stall?

Don't beat yourself up or worry about doing something wrong. Stalls just happen. Your body can't lost weight consistently and it is adjusting and transitioning from the surgery and from being in steady weight loss for 10 weeks. Stalls are inevitable. Just be patient and it'll pass.
  23. Hello Everyone! I wanted to seek out some advice from you all, as I am worrying about my weight stall/gain. I am currently 10 Weeks Post-Op (2 Months) and I have been exercising (Swimming and Running) everyday for at least 2 hours since I was 3 Weeks Post-Op. I am very responsible with my diet and I carefully watch my portions. 3 days ago I was 251.0 lbs and now I’m back to being 253.8 lbs. Why am I at this weight stall/gain? Am I doing something wrong? I personally feel a lot stronger and I have noticed muscle gain in my arms and legs, but could muscle really make me stall that much? I also had a lot of nerve pain near my biceps last night, could that be due to muscle gain? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you! ❣️
