Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Denise - Since I live here I think why would anyone want to come here - it's just the stupid desert :blushing: but it is really pretty at times and the weather is great except in the summer - we have mountains - we are about 2 hrs from the beach - so it is a good place. I guess I just take it for granted:cool2: Congrats on the losing your pants  - that good !!! That's a great NSV... Now as for the the Baby Shower - Me personnaly I would have 1/2 to 1 piece of cake - That would be just too much for me not to eat it - well that being said - I did say no to all the xmas sweets at the office during christmas - - now I wouldn't bring it home or if the shower is at your house I would make them take it - cuz I would make a pig out of my if i was left alone with it - it would win -or - go in the trash... When is the baby due??

OK, serious NSV alert. I've never in my life owned a pair of full calf boots. Why? Cuz from age 6 when white boots became popular (thank you Partridge Family), they didn't have any that would fit over my big fat calves. My sissy cleaned out her closet this weekend and gave me some stuff that's either too small for her or that she doesn't wear. Beautiful super high end stuff. The kind I couldn't afford. And her boots were in the batch! And they fit! They fit! Normal size calf boots zipped with room to spare!!! *swoon* Here I am dressed for Tuesday date night (on account of mah new boots).

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Wow....as usual, I am in awe of how well everyone is doing. 100 pounds in 7 months???? Unbelievable. You are all so inspiring to me. I had two victories today: finally, after 2 weeks of not moving, that blankety-blank scale went down a pound! I stayed with the low carb program, charting everything I ate on myplate.com, and thank goodness, it is working again. Hope that continues. Also, and probably a silly NSV to many, I was able to eat romaine! Now, before this process, I was a salad lover and had prepared myself psychologically to give up salads. I was brave today and ordered a chicken caesar without dressing and croutons. I ate about 1/4 of it, after I chopped it up with a knife (kind of like a cobb salad can be) and took tiny bites. Nothing ever tasted as good as that romaine lettuce did today! I have the rest in the fridge for another time (or two or three), and I am a happy woman. Now to lose the rest.... Nancy

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi All and thanks for all the welcomes and best wishes. Saw the Dr today and he was happy with my progress (10 lbs since op on 4/23rd and 25 total now). He has moved me to diet of mushies for next 2 weeks and then to soft foods the following 2 weeks. I'm so excited to have more options to eat. My first fill is not until May 30th. He said to start working out slowly and build up. I had broken my right foot on Feb 18th so I am still healing from that too and I didn't tell him about that because I didn't want that to affect my having surgery. I took off my boot from the Orthopedist and wore my tennis shoes, walking very delicately, when I went in to see him twice before surgery and told him I had a small turn of the ankle which was healing fast..... He did say, "Well you have to be mobile to be able to have the surgery" and I told him that I was up and about and on my eliptical so it didn't become an issue. I am up to 15 minutes on the eliptical as regular walking is still too slow and probably not helping much excercise wise and want to work that out to more but I can't do my health rider (which is like a rower) yet because that pulls on my abdominals. I did have questions on what is NSV and SV and PB? Gotta get up on my lapbandonics.... Its a happy day for me:thumbup:. Have a great weekend everyone. Yvonne

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Why can't you eat leftovers? I make extra all the time so I have some leftovers for lunch and also take those doggie bags home from restaurants that my doggies never get to see as they are another meal for me as well. I had a wonderful NSV today!! Before my Alaskan cruise in May my jeans were too tight and EGADS I had to go buy a new pair to take along in a size 26!!! That's the largest I ever bought. Well they were too big a while ago, then 24's, too big, then 22's too big today. I tried on some 20's I bought 2 years ago with tags still on in my closet because 'I was going to lose weight' AND THEY FIT!!!!!! Not even tight!!! I can't wait til Lane Bryant gets no more of my money!! A few more sizes!!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

PJ Welcome to the 50+ Gang - We are a great bunch and you aren't the only newbie - infact - Densie, Me, Phyl & Peaches are the only oldiest who are still posting. Congrats on your date - it's your new birthday !!! Well, as I stated before - don't have any plans for today - my son & his family have moved away so it's just me & GS who 17 and doesn't have time for his grandma , plus after my vegas weekend last weekend I am looking forward to a little R&R - but so far I have been up since 6:30 coffee then to the gym 3.5 miles - incline varied but got up to 10 without holding on (per my trainer & I have read this before holding on you don't burn as many calories as your legs are not carrying your full weight - and yes it does make a diff) Home in the pool for a few laps to cool off and then found out I had a great NSV - I no longer float last yr at this time I was bobbing in the pool like a beached whale - and this summer I sink :cool2: Loving it.. Funny how something so stupid as that can really make your day... Been to the store for weekly shopping - home put all stuff up and now let's see it's 2:15 I am sitting down - so much for my R&R Well think I will go watch a movie or read - will CBL  Remember - good food choices - and 3 bite rule :tt2:

I don't mind it much except for the wrinkles Yvonne NSV - Non Scale Victory = walking up a flight of stairs without dieing:lol: SV - I haven't ever seen this one - but I would guess Scale Victory PB - Productive Burp - it's when you get stuck (golf ball in chest) and you will slime (saliva) and you will throw up the offending object - but it's not really throwing up - but more like a burp with food in it. Hey Socalgal! Hang in there. I think you are doing great. Some of that weight gain is most likely fluid from your cycle. Keep doing the things that got you to your goal and you will be just fine. Pinky --sounds like things went well at your nutritionists appt. I hope that he/she is able to offer you the accountability that you need to reach your goals. I am treking along. I lost another pound, finally!!! But I have lost many inches. I have had several NSV that I have noticed. Last week I pulled out an old XL concert T-shirt thinking this should fit just fine. It is actually too big. I am also wearing a blouse I bought last year, only 10 pounds heavier, and not able to even button it. It is now fits with room to spare. I had a set back in my running as I kind of re-injured my ankle. Or I should say...the ankle is lettling me know what it will and will not let me do for right now. I have been trying to just walk several times a week and I hope by the end of march pick my running up again. Not that I was doing that much running. I hope everyone is doing well. I am off to my life on the highway. Have a great day! Melissa

I so need another fill... I think... Totally weird, I can not eat a thing in the am, but this evening I ate 3 small pieces of thin crust pizza. Crazy... As for liquids: 40 ounces water, 32 ounces lemonade, 12 ounces coffee... Congrats to all with the NSV, Water Victories, and other accomplishments!

    January Bandsters???

That truly is a NSV! Maybe that is what is happening to me. I'm only down 4 lbs since last month, but I'm getting more and more compliments, and my jeans are really big. Good bye 16's and hello 14's! I've already given up my 18's, got rid of all of them, I've been holding on to my 16's, but I about to get rid of them too. I have been wearing some of my 14's but don't have many, so I'll be shopping a little before I get rid of all my 16's.

Where is everyone? I had a NSV yesterday. I went to the post office to pick up a registered letter and I had to show ID. The clerk said "Are you sure that's you?" when I showed her my driver's license. She said "You look much thinner, you must have lost a lot of weight". I didn't think I looked fat in my pic, but I guess I did. I'm still having trouble with my body image. A co-worker told me yesterday I was REALLY THIN. I still feel plump! I wonder how long it takes to realize you aren't so fat anymore.....

    January Bandsters???

I feel the exact same way. The scales are saying "I gained" however, my clothes are saying "I've lost". I also had a NSV yesterday. I was sitting at a red light when I could feel someone looking at me, I looked over the left and there were these two young boys giving me the looks and smiling at me. LOL. Wow, even though I'm 40 and happily married for 19 years, it still felt good to have these young boys notice me. They probably would have crapped their pants had they known I was 40. LOL. Here is another NSV I had, a guy I work with came up to me yesterday and said my face looks so much thinner and not only that, my complextion looked so much smoother too. He said he could tell I was losing weight. No one from work knows I had the Lap-Band surgery, but they they know I had a hernia repair, so thats all they think. Its just nice when someone notices. It lifts my spirits.

    January Bandsters???

I had a great NSV!!! I have been wearing 14's very tight and today I just tried on some size 12 slacks and they fit!!! Not perfect, a tad too tight, but I was able to wear them!!! I still don't want to weigh in. Maybe next week after I start solids! How are we all doing? Who wants to start the South Beach Challenge with me in a few days on Saturday? I met a girl at a support group yesterday who had lost 130 pounds in a little over a year!!!! She looked fantastic!!! And wouldn't you know.... she follows the bandster rules and a South Beach diet type of eating plan. Lots of water and exercise. I also met other ladies who had lost 20 pounds in 8 months. Wouldn't you know, they eat what ever they want and don't exercise..... HHHMMMMMMM. I for one want to follow after the one who lost better following the rules. I didn't do this to just stay fat!!!!

    January Bandsters???

Hi Terry! Cognrats on the 40lbs! It seems for a few of us here that is where things start to slow down. So I had an awesome NSV last night! I went to a wedding, and I didn't feel like wearing nylons because it was so hot out. I put on my favorite pair of dress pants, not thinking about the fact that they were still technically "fat pant". Well, I was on the dance floor, and I noticed I had to keep hiking them up. It was so annoying that I gave up on the dancing. Later on, I went to the bathroom and discovered I could pull them down without unbuttoning! DH was laughing because I was so bummed I wouldn't be able to wear these pants again. He was like, hey, aren't you supposed to be glad that you're shrinking out of things?! He's right, of course.

Pork chops- good idea!! Glad to hear you are no longer stress tight I agree poodles- you are too tight!! drinking your calories is no way to live! Of course I am not the best either, I still struggle with my sugar addiction. and its a daily struggle - I have decided that Ice Cream is in fact evil. I have great news to share- I RAN last night for the first time in over 2 years. It was not pretty but I managed to go over a mile!! this is a huge NSV for me. I was a runner before I got MO and I was hoping to get back there one day. Also on the Christmas challenge- can someone explain the "code" so I can updated my signature?
  19. Saw the first photo since starting this journey that i loved this week. I have been really struggling with still seeing myself as fat. I'm now 62.5kg but until seeing this photo, still felt like I was 100kg. I won't post the pic because it has my daughter in it, but thought I'd share my NSV.
  20. You are doing so great, Bec! Glad to hear from you. Your second picture is not showing up for me though. I have an NSV. I walk to mass on Sundays. I used to leave at 8:15 and get there by 9:05 or so for 9:15 mass. Now I leave at 8:20 and get there by 9! I will have to start leaving 10 minutes later, I think!
  21. That doesn't sound good Mimz. Stay strong. I had an NSV last night whilst shopping at Target. Finally got around to buying smaller underwear. Yay!
  22. Hi guys! Another NSV- this is me in my new size 14 Cue jacket I got on sale from Myer (70% off- woot)!! I had just said to my mum on the drive to Toowoomba that this was my next goal I need a new one lol
  23. What a great NSV, before you've even left hospital!
  24. Phew .... just caught up on the thread. Great to see all my old friends doing so well. Hi to everyone I haven't met yet. I'm sure you've already realised what a great bunch of people this is. NSV this week. I can do (unassisted) pull up. It's a real milestone in my training. 44 years old and I've never done a strict pull up in my life before. Very happy. Have a great day, Deano
  25. Just popping in to say "hi". I haven't done a lot of chatting here, but I do follow everyone. I was banded by Dr. K on July 22 2009. My start weight was 284 but I weighed 270 on the day of banding. I'm proud to report I've lost nearly 99 pounds since I started this process. (I've also lost my gall bladder, but that's another story.) I've had five fills (and one partial unfill tweak). I haven't been to see Dr. K since May when I traveled to Denver twice in 5 days (once for a fill, once for a partial unfill). I'm at great restriction right now. I have about another 30 pounds to go and am confident that they will come off even though it is slow going now. Here's a picture of me at 284 at a wedding in May of 2009 (I'm in orange). Here's me two weeks ago in a dress that I'm planning on wearing to a wedding on Saturday. Other NSVs, I can climb into my ambulance with ease now; I've gotten a new jumpsuit for my EMS duties (when folks from other departments were teasing me about my clown suit, the Fire Chief thought it was time for me to size down... from a men's XL to a men's medium). I tend to my garden with ease. I walk everywhere. I fit into size 16 jeans; regular size L tops. I'm just thrilled with my progress.
