Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

It's great to see others feeling the same way, definitly doesn't make me feel like im nuts! lol It is funny because all I talk about is the surgery, the message boards and NSVs .. I think my boyfriend starts tunning me out after a while though because I must sound like a broken record to him ha ha
  2. Genuine first weird NSV: Walking outside and experiencing that magical sensation of my undies slowly falling down inside my jeans, which are also slowly falling down. Holding my jeans up by the pockets on my way home, with my undies trying their best to be budget thigh-garters. Sexy!
  3. 2 NSVs to mention. 1. I just got my annual labs drawn and the lab has those chairs with the padded lap bar that comes down, presumably to contain surprise fainters. The last time I had labs drawn, maybe 7 months ago, the bar rested on my stomach and couldn't come down all the way. Today it came all the way down and there was room to spare. 2. I'm a side sleeper and at my highest weight, my hips were so wide that my body was kind of a slope and my top arm would fall down with my shoulder pressing into my neck. Now, not only is my arm horizontal and not choking me, but my elbow is dipping down into my waist. I don't find this comfortable, but it's definitely a victory. I'll be experimenting with pillow placement to deal with being poked by (still very buried, but now detectable) hip bones.
  4. I've never posted a picture but I loved how I look in this outfit today so much I took a picture and noticed a thigh gap!! Real NSV since these are thick thighs.
  5. NSV's: No more blood pressure medication Economy class airline seats aren't that small anymore
  6. NSV… happy with the way I looked for my husband’s 35th high school reunion! I didn’t feel old and fat as I would have in the past. Plus this was a few weeks BEFORE my tummy tuck and thighplasty. About 1.5 years after WLS and down from a 2x to a size 4.
  7. Nothing weird about this one, just a regular NSV, but still a milestone for me. I got into a standard size AU/UK 16 (US 12) pair of skinny jeans today. I have not worn a size AU/UK 16 in at least two decades. Go me!
  8. First off, AWESOME boots! Secondly, I had a similar NSV. Mine were riding boots, though. (I ride horses). ❤️
  9. I'm back with some new NSV. One of these gets me right in the feels. Comfortably sitting with my legs crossed, arms folded across my belly. This does not get old. One of you mentioned being able to see willy, well....female equivalent is being able to see kitty. Sitting up, lying down she is visible! 😸 Last weekend I had an auntie day with my 7-year-old niece. She loves to run and asked me if I would race her. The look on her face when I said sure! She looked completely shocked then so delighted. We ran three races, she won them all (for real - the kid is fast) and her delight in play racing me was priceless. Had to blink back the tears a bit because it meant so much to her that her auntie was running and playing with her in a way I couldn't just a few months ago.
  10. Had a couple NSVs over the weekend. On Friday I was at the gym walking on the treadmill and challenged myself to walk for an hour straight without a break and I did it no problem- I wouldn't have been able to do that a few months ago. The other one was I was carrying some laundry up the stairs and got half way up and realized I didn't have a hand on the handrail! My balance was really bad for a while so I always had to use the handrail, but it seems to be getting better as I am losing.

You know you lost weight when

When you can no longer shop in your favorite plus size stores anymore When you and your 12 year old and raiding each others closets When you reach a weight lower than your hubby and kids When you buy Jeans from fashion nova in a size 13 (juniors) and they are a little loose so you buy another pair in an 11 and when they arrive you realize you could have gone down 1 more size When you don't have to try on your clothes anymore when shopping. You can pretty much eyeball it. When you wear clothes that were purchased as a NSV award during previous weight loss attempts and they are now too big When people see you and say I want to look like you

    Who Are You?

Loved your story! I think everyone here can relate to the loss/ regain scenarios you described and the frustrations it all entails. I just wanted to tell you that I can tell from reading your post that I really think you will do well and I look forward to the day when you can come back on here and post a NSV (non-scale victory) about being able to glide under one of your race cars to fix something with little or no blocks needed because you were so thin! My little brother loves race cars also. Don't ask me what kind but if I were to guess I think they are Sprint cars. He goes to Indiana for some national event there every year. Best of luck to you!

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Georgia... Yeah!!! Congrats on running again! Now, next time you're outside, don't trip on the cracks!!!! Renewed... reality bites, but its good to get a full dose of it once in awhile to bring you back around. Sorry you've conceeded defeat! I've been out of town since Monday morning, so have just now caught up on everyone. I used the hotel fitness facility to run Tue & Today, and it was nice. NSV to share... ever go to the hotel and they have small bath towels and those plush housecoats that are "One Size Fits All". It was always very frustrating for me cause the towels were too small to wrap around me and the housecoats would never fit me... Well now they do!!! After my shower I wrapped the towel around me and it OVERLAPPED! Then I cozyied up in the housecoat, and it was too big!!! I get to fly on Feb 1st, which is the first time since very early banding days (about 85 lbs ago), so I'm excited to see if I fit in the seat comfortably now???

The view from 'down there' (a ladies room post)

It's absolutely qualified for NSV. And I have also experienced this phenomenon. And also? I love Grey's Anatomy and thought of the show immediately when you said "Ladie's Town". LOL
  15. I'm doing my best to not focus on my weight so today I have been thinking about the non scale victories that I have achieved over the past month (just banded in March 2011). 1. I NO longer drink Diet Dr. Pepper (all day long habit) & or coffee. I've replaced them both with water! 2. I NO longer have to take medicine for acne & my complexion, after 2 yrs of oral acne medication, has never been better! (thank you water!) 3. My clothes are loose. 4. I'm not craving sweets. 5. I have not had a headache in 21 days. I was having them at least every other day - caffeine? poor food choices? I don't know! I don't care, they're gone!! That's what I've got after 35 days when I started my 2 week pre -op Optifast & 21 days of band living. For me, all of this is huge. I'd love to hear all of your NSV's....(from anytime, not just from March/April 2011!)

    Any Non Scale Victories?

I have a funny NSV, or it may be TMI but I'll share it anyway. When I sit in the toilet, my belly no longer blocks my view into it. LOL I was also banded in March. I have some of the same as you all: 1. No longer drink diet coke like it's Water. Replaced with water & ice tea. 2. My clothes that I could barely fasten and that left me with a gigantic muffin top, now are loose and comfy. 3. Bought a couple new workout pants and had to go down to a size "L" instead of the "XL" i've been wearing for as long as I can remember. 4. I have a ton of energy and go on multiple playdates and outings a day with my two small children (1yrs & 3yrs). 5. When I went back to the gym for the first time since surgery, I was able to type my weight into the elliptical program and it began with a "1..". I'm sure there's more. I'm just a really much happier person in general! Congratulations to all of you on your NSV's as well!!

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Is there something I'm missing about GA running outside??? Guess so. I'll have to read back a while it seems. Whosya, thanks for the encouragement. I think I have it in perspective again, considering that I am already looking for a new race to do. I need to do one in more hospitable conditions though. If I need to chalk this one up to experience with the cold so be it, but now that ive been there and done that, I dont feel compelled to do THAT particular scenario again any time soon. LOL. Even thinking warm thoughts didnt help. The coolest thing that came out of this race for me is a really awesome NSV. Ive had several (like 6) of my non-banded friends say to me that they'd be interested in doing some training with me for a 5K!!!!! One said she finds me an inspiration for the wt loss and trying to get fit! Now, thats what I call motivating. I get so much encouragement from all over now, but especially from my band friends. THANKS Y'ALL!!!! Carol

Renewed... Great NSV! I'd say you lost no ground! Of course its going to be harder, you haven't run consistently in a long time (end of Oct I think). But look what you have accomplished. Most people who've had PS take months and months to recover, let alone bounce back to exercise in the time you have! I'm in awe of your progress! Its healthy to not be all or nothing all the time. Falling off the regiment makes you more approachable, more human... LOL! Lyn... Did you get my positive thoughts and prayers today? How'd the interview go? It was funny, I was in the middle of a meeting when my Blackberry buzzed my reminder. So when I discreetly looked at it, a little smile came to my face, and I sent my thoughts and prayers... kind of made my meeting! LOL.

WTG aclubb!! You're doing great!! Great NSV's Kathy!! I love NSV's....sometimes they make me feel better than SV's. Okay, I have a question for ya'll. I have a Sony Erricson Walkman Slider Phone and it's like an ipod as well. I have an armband that holds my phone and I use it when I run. Yesterday, while I was running, my right arm (from the elbow to the shoulder) went kinda numb but was hurting really bad. I almost stopped running. Well, I finished my run and did my cool down and it eventually went away. Anyone else had this happen? I don't know if it happened because of the armband or if it had to do with something else going on with my body. The armband didn't feel too tight so, I dunno. It was weird....it's never happened before this. Any thoughts?

    January Bandsters???

That truly is a NSV! Maybe that is what is happening to me. I'm only down 4 lbs since last month, but I'm getting more and more compliments, and my jeans are really big. Good bye 16's and hello 14's! I've already given up my 18's, got rid of all of them, I've been holding on to my 16's, but I about to get rid of them too. I have been wearing some of my 14's but don't have many, so I'll be shopping a little before I get rid of all my 16's.

    January Bandsters???

I had a great NSV!!! I have been wearing 14's very tight and today I just tried on some size 12 slacks and they fit!!! Not perfect, a tad too tight, but I was able to wear them!!! I still don't want to weigh in. Maybe next week after I start solids! How are we all doing? Who wants to start the South Beach Challenge with me in a few days on Saturday? I met a girl at a support group yesterday who had lost 130 pounds in a little over a year!!!! She looked fantastic!!! And wouldn't you know.... she follows the bandster rules and a South Beach diet type of eating plan. Lots of water and exercise. I also met other ladies who had lost 20 pounds in 8 months. Wouldn't you know, they eat what ever they want and don't exercise..... HHHMMMMMMM. I for one want to follow after the one who lost better following the rules. I didn't do this to just stay fat!!!!
