    NSV shout outs

My NSV weighing less than my husband for the first time in our 37 year marriage! Amazing feeling!
  2. Shopping with my girlfriends this week for an outfit for Valentines.. TOTALLY AN NSV moment!!! Im into size M dresses, shirts and size 8/9 pants! I used to be XL and size 16

  3. Yea, I'm not a big sugar person. I would rather eat a meal, than dessert.. You are right, if I have snacks I'll eat them. Probably not a good idea. I do keep the SF pudding, and jello, nuts, things like that and I do have the hot chocolate. I'm pretty good about not snacking, but sometimes it gets the best of me. NSV I can pull my jeans on and off without unbuttoning the LOL!

    NSV, SV, and excitement

Well done buchannon, a great nsv and sv! and you're past the half way marker... keep up the good work!! =]
  5. I've been up and down on weight many times in my life. 4(ish) years ago I was fitting into size 36 pants and I saved them in the hopes that one day I'd lose weight again and be able to fit in them. Well, yesterday I pulled them out of the closet and they fit great! YES! We just had a health screening here at work and I felt great when they weighed me. Although I'm still above my ideal weight, I'm on my way there! My blood pressure had gone back to normal, and I'm great on paper now! Just excited and wanted to share!
  6. Awesome NSV (non-scale victory...) Blood pressure last week was 120/70!!! Had been much higher than that earlier! Woo hoo!

  7. Went to the store last night to buy dog food. Picked up a 40 lb bag. Then I thought, wow I was carrying this much extra weight around. Makes you realize how much you you've lost. Made me motivated to dump even more. Can't wait to pick up 50..60..70...etc just to see what it feels like.

    December Delights 2009

Hey all. I was banded on December 5th of 09 and am currently down 67 pounds. It's been a struggle and I've had to be unfilled slightly a couple times but otherwise things have been good. Its not magic and I have had to put a lot of concious effort into making this work for me. The biggest boost was once I started working out at the gym on a regular basis in June 2010. I still plateau for weeks at a time but then usually following a plateau I will lose steadily for a few weeks. Swimming and cycling seem to be the two best things and in Jan 2011 I began running. Funny thing, I hadn't lost any weight since early December and still haven't according to the scales, but everyone at work has been commenting that I'm getting thinner or losing more weight since I started running. Haha.... I think its a change in my posture. My running coach was really helpful in teaching me better posture so I can breath more efficiently and I feel like I am standing straighter and taller. I started out on 21jan11 being able to slowly run/walk/walk/walk/run for barely a quarter of a mile but I am now up to 5 miles! That's less than a month. I've always hated running until now. Tonight I go to my first meet with the local running club. Tuesday nights is interval training so maybe I can pick up some speed. Oh, I run barefoot and my knee and everything feels great. I had reconstructive knee surgery the same month I was banded and thought Id have problems all my life. I guess learning to run and being able to go the distance has been my biggest and proudest NSV! Good luck to everyone and feel free to email me anytime. I'm always happy to receive of offer support. JensGems1217@gmail.com Jennifer
  9. CONGRATS on your great news!!! What a great NSV!
  10. Congrats! I have the cutest NSV related to this ever...if you heard it I apologize. My son is was 2 when I had the surgery last February. A few months later, he might have been 3, he woke up during the night in his room, next door to ours. The house was dark. I found him quivering on our bed, obvious he had been awake for some time but never cried. I was like "Benjamin! What is wrong baby?" My husband jumped up, he was so upset, just shaking and could barely talk. He finally cried and said "I LOST MY FAMILY!". I was like, what? No you didn't baby, we are right here. And he is still quivering and says, "But I couldn't HEAR you.". My husband and I looked at each other like WHAT? and we both realized at the same time it was because I wasn't snoring anymore. I was his sonar in the night I guess...who would know he would find out bed by listening for his momma snoring. I asked him later how he finally found our bed, and he said his nanny (he called her by name) came and got him by the hand and brought him to our bed. She wasn't even there! But I knew then she is his angel, or maybe my grandma was his angel and he thought it was her. But how sweet his guardian angels watch over him while he sleeps. He was very scared.
  11. That's great! My CPAP is at 17mm right now, and feels a little too high, so it may need to come down. I am really hoping to get rid of mine too. Congrats on a great NSV!

The body does get thrifty and I was extrememly frustrated but was seeing NSV (non scale victories) then boom My body has go9ne back to losing significant weight again. So keep pluggin in as we are all in this for the long haul

    Before and After Photos

Thanks for the answer to what NSV means! I am definitely also in the "before" stages!

    No more CPAP!

That is definitely one of the better NSV's I've heard. My mom uses a CPAP machine (when she's being scolded into it), and she HATES it. I can only imagine what a relief that must be!! Congrats, you!!!!

    Before and After Photos

NSV is Non-Scale Victory. Sorry I can't help with the photo question, I am still at the before stages.
  18. I'm having trouble finding before and after photos of people who've lost weight with surgery - on this site. When I look at the gallery, only some of the posts have before/after. I have to open each one just to find out if they even have both pictures. Is there a better way to find these that I haven't figured out, yet? Also, what does NSV stand for? Thanks!
  19. I belive my sleeve has saved my life. In late December, both my primary care physician and I noticed a lump in my left breast. Had a mammogram, was recalled for additonal photos and had both an ultrasound and biopsy that day, and result is I have breast cancer. Fortunately, it's treatable and I will have surgery to remove the lump probably at the end of the month, followed by radiation. I am working hard to get my BMI below the obese stage, as obesity compromises survival rates in women with estorgen-postivive, HER2 negative cancers, which is what I have. So, here's another positive result from my sleeve and the weight loss!! I'm off to kick cancer's ass...pardon my French! Fit
  20. NSV -- 40 minutes on treadmill today! 286 calories burned!

  21. Wahoooo!!! Total NSV today!!! I went shopping at Target and they had some cute pink workout jackets I'd been wanting on clearance. Well, they only had XXL, XL, M, S, XS left. None in L - so I tried on the Medium totally expecting to be let down but it fit!!! OMG... I can't lie it looks really cute on me too - showing off the cute figure I'm working so hard for. I'm elated!!! :-)

    NSV

I have also noticed a little tenderness when I do Zumba. I found that if i put on a spandex sleeveless body shirt it helps. I picked it up from kohls for less the 15 bucks. Helps keep that extra skin in also. But I will tell you make sure you get the cotton blend one. The one that is all spandex is way to hot. Good luck and congrats on NSV.
  25. I felt so good yesterday. I recently got new scrubs at work, because my old ones were to large, I may have been able to get them a little sooner, but did not. But yesterday one of my coworkers said to me, "When are you going to get new scrubs, they are falling off you?" I was I just got new scrubs the smaller one's will not fit me. It just makes me feel good. My weight loss is slow right now, but I am going to the gym and as well as doing cardio, I am doing the weight machines, so I am losing inches. Not sure how much, because I try to measure and I never seem to get it right. There are only 3 people at work who know that I had surgery, so whenever someone else notices it makes me happy. I got banded on 12/20 so it was my 2011 resolution to have no failure. Also just wondering today at the gym when I was doing crunch type things on one of the machines, I felt my port hurting a little. First time that has happened and I've done it multiple times. Anyone know why that may be. Also if anyone knows on my left side (port is in the middle and higher) when I dance/jump and my hangy fat bounces it kind of hurts. I have always post surgery had more irritation in that area, not sure why.
