Eat the amount of calories your team advises you to eat. I thought the same as you did in the beginning the stall will pass, it sucks right now cause you are in the middle of it but it will pass. I have been through four stalls since my surgery and I still lost weight maybe I will hit another and maybe not but I'm not too worried about it right now. Stay strong.

How was everyone's Labor Day Weekend? Last weekend through this weekend I actually started doing things with people outside of my home where I was away from home long enough I needed to bring food with me. So far two of my outings were at my friends' homes so it was easy for me to warm up my food. One friend was making kabobs and I had a sliced up grilled mushroom, it was HEAVEN. I've decided that when people get together for bonfires/drinks that drinking Protein 2 O has really worked well for me, I get a big drink to sip and it makes me feel full. Then, I can just enjoy my friends and conversation. I'm down another few pounds since my first post with you guys, which is about right. 8 weeks post surgery and next week I get to have "easy to chew" foods! I think other plans call that soft foods! I'm pumped. I've actually been getting more adventurous with my foods - tried some cottage cheese with a few blueberries last night. I'm also eating cooked green beans as a "side". I still eat pretty small portions, sticking to my 1/4c which is the amount I'm supposed to eat while I'm in this "mashed foods" stage, which lasts a whole month, but like I said before - its almost over!! Next week - easy to chew foods, yay! Oh! I also ate at a restaurant last week, that was a huge deal for me. I ate an appetizer portion of ahi tuna (without the wonton crisps), I got all the flavor of the spicy mayo and the soy sauce, which made it super tasty. I also ate some roasted cauliflower (like 3 bites) and a parmesan crusted shrimp (I removed most of the crust), it was so good! Now that I've eaten outside of my home, in a restaurant and at friends' homes, I feel a bit more confident and less anxious than I have since surgery, I've been so anxious about fitting in when I can't really eat anymore. I don't have gluttonous friends that are food pushers or anything like that though. I'm hungry a lot and its not mental hunger its true hunger - I think its because I'm so scared of accidentally eating to much and making myself sick. I absolutely hate throwing up and I'll do anything to avoid it! I did push past that and have 1/2 c of cottage cheese instead of just a 1/4 c yesterday and my tummy liked it! Thanks for sharing all your stories and experiences, keep sharing!!

I hit a stall at 2 weeks and five days, and I'm at four weeks now and still at a standstill. So I've been in a stall for a week and two days. To be honest, I'm afraid that this is it. That I will have gone through painful and expensive surgery, only to lose a little over 20 pounds and nothing more. I'm eating 4-600 calories most days. The highest I've gone is 900 calories (included fruit juice) and the lowest was under 200 calories when I was feeling really bad and couldn't get anything down. The day after I ate 900 calories I gained 700 grams, so I don't think upping the calories is the answer.

How often do you guys weigh yourselves?
SuziDavis replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once a week, naked. Generally Wednesdays, the day of my surgery. I think the daily was discouraging. I also weighted myself day of surgery at home, naked... when they weighed me at the hospital, I was 2 lbs more, but wearing jeans, a tee, sandals, etc. -

Stall with water retention
hellohalo replied to hellohalo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you! I'm trying but it's hard not to be bothered especially when I'm 5 weeks post op and not losing inches too. My urine is definitely not dark. I don't have salty drinks but my foods are definitely on the saltier side -
More hungry around period?
Tomo replied to AlanaRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Although I haven't had a period for over a decade. There are 3 to 4 days that I have increased cravings and hunger, exactly like I did when I did have periods. The body is an interesting thing. -
Got the call today...APPROVED!!!!

Congratulations on your approval. As far as advice on moving towards your surgery date, I echo the sentiments shared by others here. Make a list of everything you will need the first four weeks post-op (your surgeon and/or nutritionist can help here too) and ensure you have them on hand before your surgery date. Be sure you have a good water bottle or two that will help you track your fluid intake post-op. Get rid of things in the house that you won't be able to tolerate so you don't even have to look at them. Have foods on hand or a way set up to get them when you're able to transition to the next diet phase (the puree/mushy phase). Finally, have or arrange to have some physical support. Getting around the house may be tough post-op. Every little bit of help is a lot in my book. Good luck. -
More hungry around period?
BAA624 replied to AlanaRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can completely relate and I'm glad I am not alone. I was also thinking that the further out I am from surgery, the more PMS/normalized pre-menstrual symptoms I have. I have been on Yaz for over 6 years (started it 3 years after my RNY) and for the first few years, I did not notice the intense PMS symptoms. Now, the week before my period, I just don't feel near the restriction as I do the rest of the month. I spoke with a friend who had her RNY in 2017 and she also said she can eat and eat the week before her period. I don't know if there are any studies or research to back this up, but I would swear to it that my food capacity increases before my period and then goes back to normal the other three weeks of the month. -

Got my final drain out 1.5 weeks after surgery. Having issues with the drain spot however, as the hole isn’t in any hurry to close up on its own. Doctor wasn’t sure if the area was infected or if it was irritated so we have me on an antibiotic now just in case. That was four days ago, really hoping that drain hole closes up soon. 😖 Other than that I’m doing great, I feel fine on a daily basis. Sleeping propped up in my back is probably the worst part. I’m a side sleeper and this is not an easy transition. That plus my abdominal binder is just making for a great sleeping experience haha. -

Congrats!! Sorry that you are still having headaches but 11 pounds in just a week is awesome. How have you dealt with having to cook food you want to eat? Lots of positive vibes for a safe and successful surgery and a fast recovery! -
I use powdered collagen every day with no dangers. I think it does help with skin elasticity -- I did it more as a preventive measure to avoid losing hair or having brittle nails. My go-to breakfast is: 8 oz of black cold brew 1 scoop of collagen 1 scoop of unflavored whey protein powder 2-3 squirts of skinny syrup Blend all of that together, then pour in a 12 oz premade vanilla protein shake

Beware The Coffee Creamer Pipeline
Summermoose replied to Kukubari's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Hi fellow ADHDer! 😊 I personally would not stop caffeine if it works for you, even if meds work. We need ALL the tools we can get, maybe not all the time, but I would definitely not limit myself like that. I personally need caffeine every single day, but I try to approach it like I would exercise or medication. I need it at a certain time to get stuff done and it doesn’t need to be yummy, I know it is serving me, my body and my mind. 😊 To keep it ‘reasonable’ I drink filter coffee without any type of milk or creamer. Before I always had coffee with creamer and loads of sugar, and quite frankly hated black coffee, but I make it strong and gulp it down just to get the caffeine I need. I’ve gotten kind of used to it now. I have started treating myself to a flat white twice a week, and I look forward to it every time 😊 -
2 weeks out from surgery and I'm starting my pre-op liquid diet today. 3-4 shakes per day, plus clear liquids. Also allowed one cucumber or pickle per day if I need something to crunch. Concerned, but hopeful...

Beware The Coffee Creamer Pipeline
Queen ApisM replied to Kukubari's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
This is why I have not started back on coffee. It's crazy sounding, but it is better for me to plan on special coffee treats from Starbucks (lower calorie options) 1-2x a week than to let myself fall down the coffee rabbit hole. I hate skim milk in drip coffee, which means I want to use other items that are very calorie dense. At least if I plan the coffees, I can track them and program them into my week. The Protein shake option is my back up, for when I decide I want a drip coffee with the husband. -
I drank coffee a week after surgery or so... It didn't upset my stomach at all. I used to drink it black, but decided to start doing a half protein shake in my coffee now.

My Doctor said to increase calories a bit and it would end, I did that, and lost 3 lbs in 2 days.

So glad you are feeling better. I had my surgery last week also. Lets learn together. PS. The Co2 gas was a killer. I put some music on and did a dance party sitting on my hospital bed (moving my upper body and then legs) to try and get it out. It helped. I had pain on the top of my shoulder (left) for several days. I heard this can be from gas. I used my TENS machine to help that - glad it is gone now.

Stall with water retention
catwoman7 replied to hellohalo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
10 days on a stall is normal. They normally last 1-3 weeks (although I've heard of them lasting even longer). The bloating combined with infrequent urination sounds like you're retaining water. I agree with summerseeker - may be due to salt intake. -

Welcome to the forums! Do you exercise and use a tracking app to monitor your macros? For me, I find that when I religiously workout five days a week and track my food, it helps me to make better food choices. In my mind I'm like... "Why kill yourself at the gym everyday only to undo it all with sh*tty food choices that sabotage your efforts" so that's what helps me. Also, does your surgeon have a virtual support group? That's another option. I'm only 7 weeks post op revision, so I'm not in the maintenance stage yet. I hope you find the help that you're looking for. Best wishes! -
Beware The Coffee Creamer Pipeline
I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ replied to Kukubari's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Pre weight loss surgery I drank the International Delight creamers, and went through a phase of using half and half. Then when I began my weight loss surgery journey 9 years ago, I swapped out those types of creamers for cashew milk and always sugar free sweeteners like Stevia. To me it was creamier than almond milk. Now that I'm 7 weeks post op revision, I've switched yet again. Now I make 4 oz of strong coffee with a full reusable Keurig pod and add it to a Fairlife protein shake. I make them both hot and iced. Then I add complimenting sugar free coffee syrups to that if I want. I can't recommend these syrups enough! https://www.skinnymixes.com/ (I also add these to Greek yogurt, SF tea, SF lemonade, and I've read that some people add them to oatmeal, but I've not tried that, I don't eat oats very often) I'm sure you could switch to half caffeine and half decaf for a while if you want to slowly eliminate the caffeine from your diet. If you truly enjoy the benefits from a warm beverage, maybe eventually you can go straight decaf and use a protein shake so that a warm cup of coffee is beneficial to your diet and you ensure you reach your daily protein goals. That's what I do. I have two cups a day one in the morning and one in the afternoon, so that's 60 grams of easy protein a day for me. Best wishes! -
Beware The Coffee Creamer Pipeline
kcuster83 replied to Kukubari's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Drinking that much you will likely go through withdraws, I would wean yourself off if it. Maybe 3 cups a day for a week and then 2 cups for a few days and then 1 cup and then switch to decaf? You still have the creamer issue though, try flavored coffee and use milk or almond milk? I don't really drink coffee so I am just throwing my opinion out there without any real experience. Good luck! -
Stall with water retention
summerseeker replied to hellohalo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the stalls you have read about are later stalls on the journey. This first stall is scary because you will not yet believe the process. My first stall was 2 weeks and my second 5 weeks. I didn't bother to count them after that. Ride it out, weigh yourself less. Keep doing what your surgeons team told you. Is your urine dark or light? If its dark increase your water intake if you can and contact your team if you are worried. Are you having salty drinks ? like homemade broths ? These make me retain water
