Surgery Delayed due to food diary failure!!
MrsFitand42 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery originally scheduled for Sept. 10th has been delayed by the ladies in the doctor's office because of my food journal. Got the call first thing this morning telling me that they didn't think I was ready for the commitment that lapband surgery takes. I am a self-pay patient. I've met with the kind folks at the drs office for a total of 45 mins. tops during my 3 visits there. Yes, I did the info-seminar and was handed mounds of stuff to read that just sat in my cute little bag they gave me. My identical twin (who lives with me) went through the exact same surgery last year. I have her as my support. I know what it takes, I know what I need to do and am willing to do it. The one thing to my detriment was I gained 2 lbs (had my last supper so to speak before my 2 week liquid diet). I also was a little too honest on my food diary. One the one hand it's my fault and I am 100% committed to this (always was really-just now I'm really ticked off and want to prove them wrong). On the other hand, I feel let down by the team because I don't feel I had enough counseling and meetings with the nutritionist (never even met her - yet she's the one who called me today). Well - I had my pity party - it's ok...I will still have the surgery in September. I'm just a little hurt and feel a little run over but I will tell them exactly how I feel about this whole situation...AFTER surgery :)3 -
Is It Normal To B Hungry Every 2-3 Hrs?
CHELL posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5 wks post op n find that I'm actually hungry every couple of hrs. When I am I'm not able to eat very much and am still on soft cheese, soft fish, yogurt, eggs, etc. Is this normal or should I b worried that I'm feeling hunger so frequently. I'll add that I'm sure it's not head hunger or acid. It's actual hunger. -
Starting to freak out...
sgibbs replied to jennamacd's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had lapband 7 years ago recovery was a breeze. Having sleeve on 26th and I expect a little more discomfort but bearable. I know of one girl who did Zumba a week after the sleeve..that's promising right? It'll be fine. -
7 weeks too and lost the exact same amount, but I keep telling myself only 60 more to goal!

This isn't a "diet" this is now how you need to eat. Educate yourself and get the training of thought to be just that. If you haven't met your protien needs then you shouldn't be eating anything else. I am 7 weeks post and down 34 lbs but my biggest loss is my appearance and how clothes fit. The changes are incredible. I work out like crazy though as well, helps big time.

7Weeks And Feeling Tired?
kiwiladydee replied to dmariesc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I'm not sure about just the 7th week. How about from week 1 through week 7. Lol. Have you been taking all of your Vitamins? B12 and Iron? -
Yes, I think maybe I'm not eating enough. I mean I'm only a week out and I keep thinking "did I actually have surgery" lol.

I had surgery 9/19. Close to six weeks post op..lost 39 lbs incl pre op diet. I worry about meeting someone in the future and having loose skin and being embarrassed to become intimate. I don't know how I will look when the weight really starts to drop but I am a bit worried about that.

incisions and stomach hanging
heather.vasquez replied to sandybabe67's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sandybabe, Shower it will make you feel FANTASTIC just no scrubbing. I was in pain for TWO Weeks I had a pulling like there was no tomorrow. I couldn't drive , I couldn't pick anything up and I couldn't sit at a table with my family to eat. I called the dr. to see if he tied my port to my rib cage:cursing:. He said that he had to sew it to my abdominal muscle so it stays in place and that is the pulling sensation and as my abs get stronger the pain will be less. I had my surgery on 11/18 this is my first week of feelin FANTASTIC. I can tell you I did alot of stretching in a hot shower. It helped relax my muscles and it helped remove some of the gas. I brought a pillow with me everywhere I went. I also had a microwavable heat pad and I kept that on my port side and that helped alot with the pain.:wink2: I still hold my port side when laughing or coughing!!! It gets better I promise ...big hugs:smile2: -

I will be 5 weeks post-op tomorrow. I take my Vitamins and I have slowly been increasing my calories and Protein intake. I went from not being able to eat 200 calories a day a week ago to now I can do 600-700 and my protein went up as well...40-60grams. I know this is still not enough but I am working on it. Well I'm pretty sure it's because of my low calorie and protein intake but I just need some reassurance but my energy is soooooooo low. My doctor cleared me to workout and eat whatever I wAnt as long as I can tolerate it. I have been eating healthy healthy healthy. I will never go back to junk food I'm just feeling down because I can't seem to get myself to get up and do stuff! Last week I had to days where I had some energy and I did an hour of dance central on both days! It felt great!!! I want to keep working out but I'm so tired! Please reassure me this too shall pass. It's encouraging to hear your stories and advice. Thanks in advance!

I agree with you! It can be such a private matter (it is for me at least) that sharing that with someone is out of my comfort zone. To be honest, my children and family/friends don't know. Only 3 people in my circle are aware.

I had my surgery May 14, 2014. Lately I feel as though I am fitting in less food than I was before, and my desire to eat is even less. Two weeks ago I feel as though my desire was greater as well as my intake. Lately I feel like I'm eating less and I'm wanting it even less. I wouldn't be too concerned with it except I feel dizzy from time to time and I'm thinking it could be low blood sugar? Has anyone else had this happen?

When did you do your first weigh in
MommyMeghan replied to sarah92200's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I waited about a week and was still the same as surgery day. Still full of fluid. I'm about 6 weeks out now and have lost 22 pounds since surgery day. Give yourself some time before jumping on the scale -
I started my cycle a week after surgery and I'm one day shy of 4 weeks post and it's still going. Any one else experience anything like this? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My Husband Is Scared
Star1221 replied to peacequeen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just promised mine I'd listen to what my body was saying. That the moment I thought something was really wrong, I'd go to the hospital. He's a worrier anyways, so he really wasn't ok until my 6th week was over and he knew I'd live lol -
Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I've had a lap band for about 8 years and have never had an issue with it. Over the past month I am burping all of the time, no acid just burping. It doesn't seem to matter if I've eaten or not. I went to the doc last week and had an upper GI done and he said the band hasn't slipped and there is no hernia. He's not really sure what the issue is right now. Next step is a endoscopy. I was just wondering if anyone has ever had similar symptoms and if they found out what the cause was? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

3 Weeks Post Op - So far FANTASTIC
SeattleSue replied to kdavis's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just started my 3rd week...I'm doing great also. Yes and no on the hunger...I get that empty feeling and sometimes a little hunger "naw". Don't know how to describe it, but I know I need to eat. I'd love to hear some of your fav puree recipes. Just the thought of it cuts my appetite. lol Nice to hear from you. Keep up the good work! What Op Do I Need To Reduce My Knees?
danielle b replied to sakurah's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I would start out with inner thigh lift....I am 4 weeks post op from inner thigh lift and have amazing results...although my knees are still a bit large....usually inner thigh lift is done first and then if you still need work done, it would be thigh lift from knee to groin incision.... -
I made most appts all in the same week or so. That way I could relax.
