Banded & Hoping to get Preg - join in!
LuckyGirl replied to eejaydiva's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Hey Ej, You might want to keep an eye on your discharge... I know that's gross but that's when you are usually ovulating - when you have a slimy whitish discharge. You can usually see it on your undies or on your tp when you wipe - I know - gross and tmi but seriously - that's what I look for and it's easier to see that than use an ovulation kit! Read some of the baby websites about this.. -

I have a question. I noticed Denise's post about not having dilation. I was told when I had my UGI that I had a very small dilation. I asked if it was because I ate too much or did anything else I shouldn't of. I was told no. I asked if they were going to remove fluid and was told no, everything was going down fine and that it was very slight. I wasn't even told to go on liquids...just that I was progressing nicely and my weight loss is good and that in fact the fluid was moving through so well that I probably could actual use a slight fill (but they wouldn't do it because of the heartburn and reflux). To this day, I still struggle with heartburn and occasional nightly reflux and lots of burping (most of this is the week before my period...sorry if TMI, but I get alot tighter then). Do you all think I should press this issue?? Is the dilation getting better/worse/the same? Am I hurting myself? I don't want to have any fluid taken out, but I don't want to hurt myself and potentually lose my band! have you ever heard of doing nothing for a slight dilation? Just any input would be appreciated. Thanks! -

this is my 4th day post op. The first few days were ruff, severe nausea and pain. I'm home and still very uncomfortable still having bad gas pains slight diarrhea. Sorry for tmi. I hope it's just from only being on liquids and not some sort of reaction to my Protein shakes. Getting liquids down still is so hard I'm suppose to drink 3 shakes per day I'm lucky if I can stomach one. I'm trying to do everything by the books and walk ect. This is a tough journey. I'm trying my best what more can we do right? Good luck to you on your journey. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Sorry if this is gross/TMI/wrong forum. I've been maintaining for the past year and I've been getting a LOT of ingrown hairs "down there", where before I didn't... my partner thinks it's from loose skin causing friction or something like that. Which I guess makes sense because my stomach skin hangs down around where it happens. Has anyone else dealt with this post weight loss? A few of them have repeatedly gotten infected/started bleeding and idk what to do about it. It's gross and it looks bad and it's painful. Can loose skin cause this? Is there anything I can do to prevent it (other than the standard prevention/treatment...)?

I HAD junk in my trunk, but after losing 60 pounds it's all gone. All I'm left with is what looks like a deflated balloon:( My butt is now saggy on the outside AND inside (nobody told me about the inside saggy part, I discovered that one day when wiping myself after using the bathroom - sorry if it's tmi). I kinda sorta miss my plump butt, but I don't want to carry all of that around anymore. Also, for weeks when I would sit in my car I thought something was sticking out of the seat or that I was sitting on my keys or something, then I discovered that it was my boney butt that I was feeling! lol I never imagined that I would actually "feel" my bones ever again.

I think I almost died! Or it felt that way, anyway :(

Questions about PBing, Sliming or just plain throwing up...I've been reading about it but had not experienced it until this morning and OMG it was really bad!! First off I blame myself because I was eating something VERY bad! Yesterday I had a slice of toast bread with a tiny bit of Peanut Butter and I was fine so today fro Breakfast I had the same thing, only difference was this was first thing in the morning vs yesterday it was in the afternoon. It went down fine and when I was done I came to sit on my couch and it started! WOW I still can't believe how bad it was, I felt it get stuck and my chest was hurting, I tried Water and pineapple juice and nothing, it actually got worse. I started walking around the house and I started getting very anxious like I was short of breath. All this lasted about 5-6min but it felt like FOREVER, my nose kept running and it felt like I needed to sneeze and burp at the same time but nothing was happening, I was home alone with my 3 kids and was very scared. TMI*** Finally I threw up but it was all slime, and I felt a bit better...Now Questions; Why didn't the bread come back up? What if this happens in public? What can I do if it does happen again? Should I stick to liquids today? I had my surgery a little over 3 weeks ago and I had first fill during surgery, my next one is this tuesday. P.S Yesterday was the first time I had bread, so today was day 2 and probably last! LOL I WILL NOT HAVE BREAD AGAIN!! (for a very long time) -
I've had my band for going on 18 months and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions of my life but lately... I am a burping machine and in silence my stomach is like a full orchestra with noises that are kind of unnerving, never painful or even uncomfortable at all just.., noisy. Also I cannot stop burping! Cannot! Little ones, big ones just constant and sometimes they make me feel better but sometimes they are just epic and untimely if you catch my drift. I have been considering a slight unfill but as I have done so well (started at 290 now 185 for several months) to say I'm not a little chicken would be a lie. I now have a life where I did not. I work better I feel tremendously better and have waaaaaay more energy. Just kinda spooked. I have had short periods over this journey that I feel extra tight but they have always passed. This has been going on for a bit now and has now progressed to PBing which I NEVER had. Strange thing is that I had my last fill probably 6months ago (7cc in a 14cc band) and have maintained my weight loss to the pound for about the last 5months. Doing great otherwise but after having a healthy smoothie I burped a good deal of it up. Sorry for the tmi but grrrrr! Somebody throw me a bone. Probably will end up getting 1/2 cc unfill but the timing is just very odd

Let me rephrase, I have more trouble with deli meats than anything else...I'm a cooking kinda girl so never actually buy anything at the deli but meat...and right now it's evil stuff. Jell-o is your friend! That was my motto the first 2 weeks post-op. (That and "wow, I seriously took pooping for granted before that" but that might be TMI):w00t: -

Question: If my little demon kitty finds sitting at my feet to be his favorite place, does this mean I've hit another NSV moment? As in I've lost my belly so my boobs are 'hanging low' (no shelf) and instead of my food falling on my boobs, it's actually falling to the floor? Bahahaha...ok TMI I think. Melody -
Hi Everyone! I am a newbie, 4 days post op. Happy to have my band... All is going as expected, experiencing the gas pain, the fullness upon sipping about 2/3 ozs of broth, drinking my Water all day as possible, sipping not gulping taking my time, making sure to follow the rules of the road to the tee. however... have one problem presenting itself...let me explain... There is one thing that I will do anything to avoid and that is the stormy feeling right before i have to vomit. I will do anything to avoid that feeling, anything including sitting on the floor and crying like the biggest baby in the world! I have avoided crying due to being post op banded, but near it tonite. In case you don't know what I am referring to, it's the extreme salivation, breaking out in a nauseating sweat, getting dizzy as if you may faint, pain in the chest / acid reflux - nasty feeling you may or may not get right before actually vomiting. (it's gross, sorry for TMI). Anyway, this has happened for the past 3 nights, every night when I lean back into my recliner to sleep. it doesn't happen during the day, only during the evening right before bed. I thought it was maybe that I was not giving myself time between my last meal/drink for the evening, but tonight I made sure I didn't have anything for at least 3 hours before bedtime and it still happened like clockwork, the minute I sank back into my recliner and began to get comfortable-wham... My stomach churned, my mouth got all full of saliva, I broke out into a nauseating sweat and auto responded by jumping up and leaning over the porcelain only to not vomit again, just stood and swayed and spit until the feeling passed again- it only happens for about a minute and then I am fine and can rest peacefully the remainder of the night. (A good thing that i don't actually vomit i guess). I am not eating more than 3 0zs of liquid broth 3 times a day, i sip it, i give myself at least 30 seconds to a minute between sips, yes, I count, I am drinking as slow as a tortoise and not on any solids yet, not even mushies. I am so determined to do this the right way and again avoid getting stuck (nothing to actually get stuck on yet) and again, want to avoid this slime stuff as much as possible.. not sure why this is happening or what else I can do for it other than the gas-x strips and anti-nausea meds, I was prescribed post op.. that are evidently not as effective at night?? Suggestions? Thanks for reading,

I got what I thought was my period 12 days after my surgery. I was pretty excited cause it was so light and only three days. Well, surprise surprise 15 days later I have it again and all HOLY HELL it is heavy. (sorry if TMI) It is finally slowing down and I hope will be done soon. But on a positive note, I did lose 4.8lbs this past week. And in the past I don't normally lose when I have my period. I am hoping next month will go back to being lighter and more like they were before surgery.

Woo woo!! Valentina -- you scored big with "Jewels of June"!!! I love it!!! I'm off this board for one day (getting an EKG & blood work from the PCP) and this is what I've missed! Okay -- as a "Jewel of June" I'm sticking with what I know...a deep, deep purple Amethyst! Its my birth stone & comes in a color that this 56 yr old hippie still finds very "groovy'! Just finished Day Two of pre-op diet -- Slim Fast Low Carb RTD shakes vanilla & chocolate are drinkable...mixed with a little coffee -- not too shabby. My soon to be sleeved stomach isn't thrilled -- rumbling with gas and diarrhea. The big D is my arch nemesis -- I have it pretty often -- one of the many reasons I would never have bypass -- my intestines work too efficiently -- there are days I worry I won't ever leave the bathroom. Okay -- I know TMI! Does anyone know if you can take Imodium after surgery???

thanks marillon... my PS did say he basically 'traumatized' my body and its not too happy right now. im still quite swollen and my tum feels like ive done a billion crunches right now. this muscle ache (not pain, just almost a dull ache) has just started early this week... grrrr) im seeing my giggly thighs and horrid boobs/arms now even more too... this is going to be a really long process. but im starting to realize that there are not many perfect people in the world. i saw a co-worker today (she may weigh 140 is about 5'8" looks GREAT) and she has the back fat/side boobies going on ... i need to redefine my version of 'perfect'... i just ordered a book from Amazon: When Women Stop Hating Their Bodies: Freeing Yourself from Food and Weight Obsession... hopefully that will help. kinda TMI ... right now, my tummy is flat (as in i can go from where my ribcage used to be :wink2: stupid swelling alllll the way down to my hoo-ha in a flat line ... no bumps, no ridges, just a very slight swollen mound of my tummy...) before, it was a chore just getting there :wink2: i'll post a review of the book once i finally get it and read it. -
Hi everyone! I just got banded the other day, 2/7/13. I'm very excited I got it done and I can't wait to start seeing results. My number one complaint right now is back, chest and shoulder pain from the CO2 gas. When should I expect this to go away? I don't really think the pain meds are helping much in regards with that pain, just with the incision pain. My husband has been rubbing ben gay on my back which actually helps a bit. Now sorry for the TMI, but I've starting passing gas early this morning. I've read alot about people taking gas x but it actually feels good, like I'm relieving some pressure. Should I be taking gas x? Thanks!

@WLSResources/ClothingExch. Nope, TMI way too early. I also don't want to reAd about the knee replacement or. triple bypass -both life changing surgeries that require work to attain lasting success like WLS.

So I have manage to stick to my diet for 4 days which is nothing right? lol Yeah well I did actually lose 4lbs already which I suppose could either be water weight or bathroom weight...yea tmi I know but hey I guess I do need to flush out the excess waste i'll still take it. I just hope I can keep it up cause to be honest the whole protein shake everyday thing is getting boring. I'm bored of the tastes but I manage to mix it up with dinner. Tons of veggies to keep my stomach moving otherwise they said I would get blocked up. and I have been choosing to do chicken and fish. I hope everyone is having an easy time with theirs. -
:cheer2: With a birthday on Valentine's Day, I will also go with amethyst. Since my SO is a jeweler, I will have to be amethyst surrounded by Kts. and Kts of diamonds!!! The more glitz, the better!!! I have my final consultation with my surgeon this morning. YIKES!!! Wish me well, fellow "JEWELS OF JUNE". :grouphug: [quote name='kwikwits' timestamp='1305865006' post='152882'] Woo woo!! I was planning on going tonight but ever since last night I have had MASSIVE pains in my stomach. I feel really bloated and my belly looks huge (even though I am still losing and haven't gained weight-I weighed myself this am). It is getting me nervous. I may wait it out and if it is still bad tomorrow I may call the Dr.s office. I just took 2 gas x strips and took some tums. I am hoping that those will help. This may be TMI for some people but I have noticed that my bowel movement have been very different the past few days - aka not as much as I usually do. The gas pains are as painful/uncomfortable as when I first had surgery. A hot shower helped - I hope it goes away. :cursing: I'll have to wait until next month to go to the meetings.

134lbs this Monday morning. And TMI, but a bloated week this week, so didn't expect a loss.

Duodenal switch -Do you physically feel different and what about sex?
NovaLuna replied to Notwhatyousee's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I can definitely tell I had surgery because I can't eat very much and for some reason really only feel hungry in the morning. Despite the fact I had the Loop DS and was told you don't get dumping syndrome they LIED because wheat makes me dump. I don't really get diarrhea unless I eat too much sugar alcohol (and get REALLY bad gas from it too so I avoid the sugar alcohol as much as I can) but my body DOES decide about 2-3 days a week to completely empty itself so you're in the bathroom for a WHILE (TMI, sorry). I'm a stomach and side sleeper and have no issues with sleeping like that nor does it hurt though I can definitely tell my intestines have been messed with when I have my bathroom trips, but outside of that l don't notice a difference. As to the bathroom thing... in the beginning food went right through me, but my system got used to it and now I usually only go #2 every other day or every 2 days, the problem with that is that my system decides 90% of the time that when I DO go I have to empty everything in me so you're are definitely in there for a while. And sometimes will have to go back for a return trip 1/2 an hour to an hour later. But the funny thing is my system is pretty much regular and this always happens around the same time of day. The surgery was one of the best things I ever did for myself and I'm glad I made the choice to have it done. Knowing what I know if I'd had to do it all over, I would. -
I have just arrived home from our 14 day holiday. We had it booked pre- covid and the company allowed us to continue postponing the booking until we could go. It was a All inclusive type holiday where you stay in a big resort and everything is at hand which suits us when travelling, my husband needs a wheelchair. We were a little nervous of the airports and flying as it is such a hassle with a wheelchair. It all went quite smoothly except for the times I was stranded with a hubby, wheelchair, two suitcases and two bags and a large handbag. At times it felt like I was the puzzle where you have a river to cross with a bag of grain, a hen and a fox. I wore the bags like a bandolero, pulled the suitcase and pushed the wheelchair with my stomach. Oh the joys of checking in at airports. I ate what I wanted, which being me, was always the best fish, seafood, cheeses and a vast amount of serrano/ parma ham. They made their own cookies and bread so these never got bypassed but in small amounts. I even had butter and ice cream. I drank strong coffee with liqueurs and some long cocktails. Usually one or two a day. A few times I felt really drunk when the bar tenders had made the cocktails stronger than the last. It was not a good feeling but I found something to eat and then the alcohol was absorbed quickly. I was a little worried to get on the scales this morning. Pre surgery, I could put almost a stone on in the two weeks [14lbs] a lot of it was water weight around my swollen ankles. I weighed in at exactly the same and TMI moment, had 8 days of poop inside me. So may even loose weight when the medicine kicks in [ or is it out ? ] So te he he another win win for my bariatric surgery

I'm in the same boat. I actually think I might have a hemorrhoid now. Talk about TMI - lol! Do you know how much Fiber you're getting? They say we need 25-35 grams per day. I just started using one of the powders, Fiber-Sure. Fiber-One bars are good too. 140 calories, 9 grams of fiber.
