  1. @@cbruce125 My week 3 stall became a 3 week stall! I lost 27 lbs in the month of May and then exactly 2 lbs in the month of June. Since then between 15-20 lbs and now about 25 lbs from goal weight. Don't worry about it. If you follow the instruction manual, it will happen.
  2. I am just at 4 weeks and had that 3 week stall that lasted 6 days. Finally started dropping again. I had mw follow up with the surgeon yesterday and am now cleared to do more than walking for exercise. I am anxious to see the effects of gym visits on my loss.
  3. Was just going through my spreadsheet on weight lost and saw some really strange numbers...was sleeved in early May of this year. Weight lost per month: May: 27 lbs June: 2 lbs July: 14 lbs August: 18 lbs 1/2 of Sep: 10 lbs I know there was the dreaded 3 week stall in there, but the scale barely moved in June and now it seems like the further out I am the more and faster I am losing. I expected to lose a ton a first and then start slowing down significantly. Anyone else experiencing this sort of weight loss pattern? Seems strange, but definitely not complaining!

No weight loss since starting on full liquids!

i agree it sounds like the dreaded 3 week stall you will be fine just let your body catch up to your weight loss
  5. Water retention? 3 week stall a little early? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I think I will join you in putting the scale away for awhile-I am in the midst of a 3 week stall (it started at week 5). I am getting about 800 calories per day, usually hit my protein and water goal and am working out (lightly)...Jeez body what more do you want!
  7. Only down 24 lbs? ONLY? That's an accomplishment in and of itself. That is something to be proud of and obviously it already is working. It sounds like y'all may just be experiencing the dreaded "3 week stall" I just got over mine and today marks 4 weeks past surgery (23 lbs down) and the scale finally dropped 3 lbs as if over night. Don't beat yourself up. 24 lbs in a month is successful.

I have a gift for many of you...

Why? It was placed in the "Rants and Raves" forum. If someone doesn't want to read through 7 pages (and counting) of posts, they don't have to. It is refreshing as compared to reading about "Is a 3 week stall normal", "Can I eat solid foods at 2 weeks" or any similar posts 2 or 3 hundred times. That info is already there if someone searched for it, but I am glad people post those questions. If someone doesn't want to read that for the 201st or 301st time, they don't have to.

    Jealous: Low BMI

I had my surgery the day after you and I have also only lost 16 pounds. I did not lose last week at all. Today was the first day the scale started coming down. I started at 214 at 5' 4". It will start dropping again. The 3 week stall is a bummer but it seems to happen to everyone. I changed up my diet alittle and that seemed to help.
  11. at just over 3 weeks out i am on soft foods, so an average meal would be egg salad on a crusket light cracker nearly a whole egg, so about 90 cal a meal. volume wise that's maybe more than most can handle at this point but my surgeon and NUT very happy at my progress and say i'm healing up very fast. But realistically calorie wise only hitting the 300 a day mark. sometimes upto 400. My team aren't as obsessed with very high Protein numbers and want me to aim for 50gms a day (I can't do protein powers or dairy so have to manager with real food). i'm only half of that at the minute but they are happy for me to work my up over the next few weeks. I feel well, no pain, more energy etc. oh yes also on the 3 week stall on day 6 or 7, saw a slight movement down this morning - but i'm not worried. it's typical and i'll take it on the chin.
  12. I am also in the 3 week stall at the minute so I don't know how/if things will pick up after this, it was going so well the first 2.5 weeks!
  13. @@mimic86 The thing is, the "Dreaded 3 week stall", as you read, is completely normal. I've seen them last for 1 week up to 5 or 6 weeks. In MY humble opinion, there isn't a whole lot you can do about this completely normal stall except keep working your plan and riding it out. Stalls down the road are a whole other story. I experienced my second BIG stall at 6 months, which once again is fairly common. It lasted SIX HORRIBLE WEEKS. At this point, it's time to evaluate a few things: How many calories, carbs and how much Protein you're eating. How much Water you're consuming How much are you moving? I have found that most stalls are caused by---you're not going to believe it----not eating ENOUGH. Sure sometimes the stallee has maybe let a few sweets and "slider" foods sneak into their diets and cause a stall. Otherwise, I think as we move along in this process, we need to slowly up our calories accordingly WITH THE CORRECT FOODS. Our bodies get complacent, and sometimes a good shock to the system does the trick. If you adjust things accordingly (either eating less or more, or moving less or more), you usually will see a stall break within a week or so. But you just never know
  14. I lost what I thought was rapidly for the first 2 weeks, (16 pounds in 17 days) and then I hit the dreaded 3 week stall - which is where I sit currently. It seems it is different for everyone.

    Hunger

Hello Sleevers! Certainly, I'm not the only one. My hunger pangs began approximately one week post op. I know the difference between head hunger and real hunger. And I am telling you, I AM HUNGRY. I eat 3 meals a day, plus two Snacks. I'm losing slowly but losing (after the dreaded 3 week stall). But I feel hungry. It is definitely not head hunger it is real, it is painful and it is there. What do you do to kill that feeling? I read about sleevers who claim to forget to eat, that they're NEVER hungry, and I'm amazed. Is it because I'm only four weeks out that I feel this? Will this go away at some point? Feedback would be sincerely appreciated. -Happy Losing.
  17. Patience Grasshopper....I didn't lose much weight in first few weeks. I think it was like 4-5 pounds total while only eating an average of 300-400 calories. Most of this was probably due to swelling and healing so I didn't sweat it too much. You shouldn't either. The first few weeks are tough because of your body is recovering. Even if you lost a lot in the first week, you body is now probably saying "???? is going on? I had better hang on to Water and stuff as a safe guard!" Then your body figures out that this is the new normal and starts to release the fat for consumption. That is my take on the "3-week stall", it may not be totally accurate, but it helps me get my head around what my body is doing. Hope this helps.
  18. Good for you!!! Congrats on your weight loss! I am glad you decided to go through with it. Thanks for the info about the 3 week stall. At least I will know it is normal if it happens to me:)
  19. Well it has been a year now since my initial consult with my doctor. At the time I weighed 335 lbs and was just finishing up another summer of being miserably hot and desperate to lose the weight I had packed on during the last 15 years. I had just started a new job and found out that my insurance at my new company did cover weight loss surgery! I had tried 2 years ago but found out my old company's insurance did not cover WLS. I had to wait the 6 months that some insurance companies require that turned into almost 9 months while paper work was submitted and surgery dates were set. During that time I decided to try and start living the diet that was proscribed for post surgery. Anything but perfect following it, but I did manage to lose 30 lbs over 9 months. I almost called the surgery off probably 50 times at least in my head, but finally decided to follow through and was sleeved in early May. My weight on sleeve day after my 2 weeks of liquids was 300 lbs. After an initial 20 lbs drop, I hit the dreaded 3 week stall that lasted 3 weeks. Lost another 20 lbs and then stopped for another 3 weeks. I know have a slow and steady trickle of lbs released from my body. My waist has dropped from 48" to 38" and I feel fantastic. I haven't enjoyed summer this much in years as I don't get overheated and can enjoy it. People tell me I look 20 years younger. I hated the surgery at first, but have come to love it. I can drink as much Water as I want, but with solid food, 5 ounces max. The journey continues!

    2+ weeks post op

I stopped losing for 7 or 8 days around 3 weeks. The infamous 3 week stall..Google it. It will last for a week or two the the weight comes off again. No worries!
  21. Just. Breath. You are going through the normal, happens to everybody, 3 week stall. After losing 26 pounds, your body is taking a break. You will NOT continue to lose a pound a day from here on out. It's not realistic. Once your completely normal stall is over, you will balance out to more 2-4 pounds a week losses. This particular stall you just have to ride out. I would suggest upping your calories to 500 at this point, and making sure you're getting at least 60-70 grams of protien. Be patient with the process. If you're as dedicated to it as you say you are, it will work. The weight isn't just going to fall off. You've got to put in the work, time and patience, and you will reap the rewards. This may be your first stall, but it certainly won't be your last. It's all just part of the process.

    May Sleevers, How much?

Ten # lost in 2 weeks prior to surgery 5/28. Since then, 43#. Usually drop 2#/week though a had a wicked 3 week stall starting at post op week 2.
  23. Virtually everyone goes through a significant stall starting somewhere around week 3. You aren't doing anything wrong, and neither was everyone else who stalled at week 3 before you. Use the search function here and look for "3 week stall" or something similar and you will see what I mean. Stop stressing and put the scale away for a while. Just focus on following your plan to the best of your ability. The weight loss will start up again, probably pretty soon.

    3 week stall :(

My surgeon warned me about the 3 week stall and said he found that many times it was due to you having too few calories. Being newly sleeved we tend to not get enough nutrition the first month due to several factors such as pain, nausea, fear of weight gain, etc and we tend to only get about 500-600 calories in our daily intake. He says that the bare minimum the human body needs for survival is 600+ calories, and when you stay below that mark, your body will go into starvation mode and will reduce its ability to lose weight as a protection measure. His advice to all his patients is to up your caloric intake to the 800 range if you can handle it.
