Hi fellow October Bandsters! I was banded last week. Tomorrow will be my graduation to soft foods. I have had my 2 first major NSV this week. On sunday I was able to put my wedding ring on and wear it comfortably. This is the first time in 3 years I have been able to wear it. I also was taken off my insulin yesterday. I know my doctors said that it would happen fast I just didn't think it would be this fast. I wish you all the best of luck and look forward to watching your progress!

Steph...Running a full minute is HUGE! Remember...I had to start somewhere and it certainly wasn't at 6 miles. But I have been doing this since JANUARY! As for the eliptical, I did a full hour on it yesterday and I think it registered just over 3 miles. So unless you have the resistance REALLY low and are almost sprinting on the thing (which I do not recommmend as it can be hard on the knees) you are not going to go very far. I have always been able to do the elipitical for a long time. Even when I was fat, I could go for a while on the eliptical. My legs have always been in good shape it is just the rest of me that lacked! Oh and on a side note...I took my resting heart rate when I got up this morning and it is down to 60. Before surgery it was at 90+! HUGE NSV for me!

Hello all my fellow bandsters!!! I am just checking in for the night. I wanted to tell everyone congrats on all of your weight loss. We are all doing very very well. I had another NSV last night and I needed to share it with you all because you will understand and my DH just looks at me like I was nuts. LOL Last night we went to the movie Hair Spray. (Excellent show by the way!!!) Anyway in the past when we have gone I have been so uncomfortable because of my size in the chairs and the person next to me, my DH or one of my kids, had to be uncomforatble as well because I always put my arms out on the chair arms to try to be more comfy and in the theatre that means taking their chair arms. I always felt like I was 'spilling over' into their seats. Last night when we went I was really excited but also nervous at the same time because of the past experiences. We went in and sat down and guess what................I HAD LOTS AND LOTS OF ROOM!!!!!!!!!!! I wasn't spilling into anyone elses seat and I could set cross legged while watching the movie. I COULDN'T believe it!!! :faint: I said something to my daughter and she smiled and said that is good and then I said something to my DH and he said 'we were never uncomfortable setting next to you." and looked at me like he had no idea what I was talking about. Maybe he didn't and it was just me self consciously feeling that way. Whatever it was then I don't care because I CAN FIT FINE AND HAVE LOTS OF ROOM IN A MOVIE SEAT!!!! LOL

Serves him right for not noticing you before, but a great and unexpected NSV for You!

NSV's of the week: I bought a little something fancy for my date night with the husband this weekend. I purchased an XL corset, and even with the laces tied as tightly as possible it was way to big. I know they say to size down, but never did that before. And the (regular women's) XL sized thigh highs were huge! I swear I could have fit both legs in them LOL. (That's the running, It is honestly like someone sliced my legs in half I've lost so much weight in them.) Also this gal can wrap a regular sized towel around herself without ANY gap! It doesn't look like some risque lingerie playing peek-a-boo anymore!

Reading so many clothes ones, I’ll add: I have bought a few nicer smaller pantiesover the last year as I lost. But my old cotton ones still sort of worked so I didn’t overhaul them. Now that I can wear actual dresses without longline “shorts” under them to protect the chafing thighs, I PUT ON ONE OF THE OLD PANTIES AND IT WAS FALLING DOWN under the dress! So I ordered as a surgiversary gift a whole set of new undies and the others are trashed as soon as the new ones arrive! Another NSV from today: I found out that working out flattens the earth. I walked my daughter up to her first day of camp. Same place as last year. I had to hike up this hill to her group. Same area this year, but no hot sweaty hike up the hill.... I didn’t even realize it was slightly uphill. It was Everest last year; this year it’s as easy to walk as a flat sidewalk. Yeah!

That's 1-2'-3 Great NSV! Best Wishes for a Happy December for you, your wife and Son!.!

Sheila I am so joining you on the eating clean to rid yourself of the carb monster. I am also doing the same thing. Sarah i love how your little ones NSV. Such a reward, especially from a little one.... GT this is such a hard decision to make in whether to stay and save money or come back. If you decide to stay, make sure that you have an exit plan just in case something happens and you need to leave. I love that you have a support person there....Will he be there for the next 6 months also? Sheryl after seeing and reading about the corset, I had to go and buy one myself....can't wait to get it, I loved that it was only $25 including shipping. Good job on riding a nervous mare......it sounds like a lot of fun.. Yesturday I did a proper fast day..... I lost 1 lb and I love it.... I had reached 240 calories by 2:00pm and wasn't sure I'd make it. But when I got home i got really hungry. So I ate some carrots and made a salad. Everything was pretty much low calorie until the homemade ranch dressing. But I still stayed under 500 calories..... I think I have to keep focused on eating mostly proteins and salads for the rest of the week. I really need to get 3 more lbs to be at my low and plus I would like to get into the 130's. Cathy I was always the picture taker in my family too. I can't really find any pics when I was bigger. the one I did find did not have any smile on my face either. I always felt like a hippo and hid..... -
awe shucks........... :Banane37: Have a great day everyone....... oh and my neice said I could have the pair of jeans I wore of hers.. she said cause she didn't like them! LOL what a great NSV!!!!!

NSVs-Off diabetes medication, blood pressure and heart rate under better control, more energy, asthma/lung wheezing is gone.....yes, when I look at it that way, I have had a lot of NSVs but I just thought I would have lost more weight by now. I'm not exercising. I know I should be but I hate it so much. My husband is supposed to try to adjust the belt on our treadmill. Right now it slips a lot when I'm walking on it and I am afraid I will fall. I'm wondering if I weigh too much to be on it but I think the weight limit is 275 and I weigh about 264.

MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!
MarcyLoo replied to MarcyLoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks guys!! I had a NSV yesterday too. Went to see a movie and fit in the seat It was still snug, but I was in the same theater about 6-8 weeks ago and it was a BAD fit then...had to really wriggle to get sitauted. Yesterday I could sit down from a normal standing position and not have to squish my butt into it. It felt so good!!! -
MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!
Lady_Dragyn replied to MarcyLoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still kicking too. Looks like we are all doing very well. I'm pretty happy with the process/progress so far. NSV this week, I'm comfortably in size 24 bottoms and 26/28 tops. Down from 28 bottoms and 30/32 tops. I will be honest in saying that these sizes were a little loose, but that's how I preferred my clothes and I definately didn't fit into the 26's! I'm pretty damned excited by this actually As for the flying thing, I have had to wear an extention for years (I travel a lot for work) and look forward to the day when I don't have to ask for one and to be able to sit comfortably in the seat and not have someone upset that they have to sit next to me (which as horrible as it sounds, I can understand. Those damned seats are pretty uncomfortable to begin with, but toss in a large woman beside you who is spiling over into your space and it's just damned unacceptable ) and being able to actually sit there and use the drop down table and possibly even my laptop etc. So anyway! I hope we all continue to do great and keep your chins up guys. We will all have set backs from time to time, but just remember to just take a step back and try again! This is a life long journey that includes a lot of learning and trial and error! No matter how much research or teaching/classes we went through, nothing can or could fully prepare us for what we have embarked on! -
MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!
Lady_Dragyn replied to MarcyLoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I had my first actual NSV (except for the usual donating of clothing) since surgery. It seems a little crazy to me, but I was so happy. I got out of the shower and wrapped the towel around me (like always) and it actually fit around me and overlapped a bit and covered me like it was supposed to. Now mind you it's still one of the big ones, but it fit! it fit! it's been 15 years since that happened I was pretty happy. So glad everyone is doing well. We will all be successful. We have to be -
Good morning violets- I actually slept all night and if I had weird dreams, i don't remember them! Those Chantix pills have been making me wake up 4 times a night so last nast was a real peaceful and restful night! I really needed that. Man...it is quiet with macy gone. I know she is having a blast. The party for her 'pop' went good yesterday. I only had one small sliver of cake. OH...I forgot to tell you all something. I ate a fold over chicken salad sandwich the other day! You are probably thing....ummm, so what. Here is the deal. That is the first peice of bread I have allowed myself to eat since 04/11/07. OMG, you would have thought it was a 9 course meal. I devoured every bite! It is nice to be in control of what I stick in my pie hole!! Anyway, I am just proud of that and wanted to share it with you all. Terri-ask your ps if he has a 2 for 1 deal going on :tea: Kat-i feel so bad for you. I am praying that your tooth heals quickly! Jane-you were a woman of alot of words in your last post....are you OK? Judy-how was your concert last night? Michelle-great NSV! way to go!! Pam-are you still on your trip? Jenn-hope you are feeling better! Laura-I meant to tell you I really enjoyed the religion vs. science thing you posted on here. love loved it! Just got done with 5 miles on the bike and 10 minutes on the glider. I tried the stepper and I'm not likin' it. I'll offer it to DD and if she doesn't want it, it goes back. It works the same parts of the body that the elliptical trainer does and I like the trainer so much better. Just seems better made. Pork chop leftovers are in the fridge for tomorrow's lunch. I couldn't finish my chop, but the Bobster devoured his and was slurping more sauce when I caught him in the kitchen. We got our next fill scheduled for March 17.. the nurse told us to remember to wear green! Pam...don't ya just love the pbs..?? specially in public. I swear there are times I feel like a bulemic. DD says it's an adventure eating with her parents now. She says.. "I know every time you sit back and cross your arms, that in a minute you're gonna head for the bathroom!". I noticed that she had left one of my sweaters in my bathroom and I asked if it was hers or mine. She said it was mine and that she was going to wear it last night, but changed her mind. I'm almost positive the reason she didn't wear it was that it was too small for her. It is a little tight on me, but her belly is sticking out more than mine these days. An NSV for me, but I feel bad for her. Don't want to mention her weight cause her emotions are so fragile while she's trying to get pregnant. Kat...hindsight says it would have been better for you to munch on that m&m rather than go through all this with your tooth!! But you were being a good bandster! And when I read the recipe called for a mortar and pestle, I thought....... shucks, dont' have one of those. So I improvised with a little bowl and the bottom of a jar. Not as efficient, but the Bobster never complained of tapioca globs. Time to go watch a little tv and run on the trainer for a bit. Then hit the hot tub, head to bed and get up early for Ethan again tomorrow. I'll check back before I head to bed. TTFN.....

Ok, I'm catching up on some of the posts (which go back to August 8th!) so bear with me... Christie: ROFLMAO about your '8packs'. I'd take it as a compliment! Stacie: Just read your post about possibly going back to school. Just do it. I know 'years' sounds long but, trust me, they go by so fast! I went back to school at 28 to get my bachelor's and the years sped by! Hummingbird: Congrats on the NSV moment! I like those much better because it makes me realize that the scale is not 'king'. Bobbie: Woohoo! on Onderland...and the job! Cocoa: Sorry to hear about your tooth! I did the same thing though and I had insurance. After playing around with it for months trying to figure out why it was causing me pain, I told them to just take it out. Best decision I ever made. Hey...you're on FB? Friend me! Melody Parker Upham Shad: How come they're waiting so long to flip your port?? Betsy: I am so sorry to hear of all you're going through. There's a BPD (borderline personality diagnosis) board at home that I've found amazingly helpful in dealing with my own BPD family member...who I am thankful to say lives 5 hours away. The support there is tremendous. Bob: Great news on the plastic surgeon! Are you getting this done before you've lost all your weight or just 'checking out' the possibilities. Leigha: Love your before and after pics! So did you find the 'bandit'? Dottie: Welcome back from one MIA to another. Ok, I hope I didn't miss anyone! -

Amieru, congrats on all your fun NSV stuff. How great to be able to enjoy the rides, go to the cave, etc. I had Lasik done about 9 years ago and I totally agree with you. To be able to wake up in the morning and see the clock without groping for my glasses . . . to be able to go to a swimming pool and actually see who is next to me in the water . . . Congratulations! You'll love it. And how fun to have a free trip to look forward to for your bandiversary! YAY!!! -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
Jess55 replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not feel like making a new thread, so I am just gonna post my NSV in here. I went shopping today for stuff for my trip and I went to Fashion Bug and go a nice pair of jeans that were size 22. Then I went to Old Navy wanting to check out their jeans, I was disappointed to see they only carried up to size 20. I was like what the heck, let me see, they probably won't fit. I picked up 2 different styles, the first one I tried on fit. I was like yay holy crap, they fit. The second style, buttoned, but felt really uncomfortable, so I did not get that one. But I was so happy I now can fit into Old Navy. It made my day, and even though I did not find what I went out looking for, which was a pair of capris, since I am going to the Bahamas, I had a good day. Oh well, hopefully it won't be super hot there and I can get away in jeans, without dying of heat. -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
EquusEMS replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had a nice NSV this morning, went horseback riding in the snowstorm, I'm almost 3 weeks postop, and I have 5 horses. So getting more fit as a rider, was a huge push for me to get the LAP Band. Had a nice half hour ride out in the snow, walk and trot, on my little elderly Arabian mare. She is small, pony sized, and I sometimes felt self conscious riding her, as I felt that I was "out of proportion" to ride such a petite horse. I'm down about 17 lbs, eating normal soft foods, no vomiting or real complications now. So YAY for horseback riding in the snow! I had no discomfort mounting, dismounting, tacking up, walking and trotting. I'm back to being me -
