Hey all how is everyone doing? I went to see Dr V yesterday and got a slight fill 0.175ccs. She is so awesome and down to earth. I love that little lady! Right now Im around 8.1cc in a 14cc band. She had to use a smaller needle than the regular one. I know Im close to my upper tolerance limit as Ive been up as high as 8.9 but really struggled with intolerances there Needed this fill BAD as my hunger was out of control and I had gained 8lbs (!) in the last three months. Im only on liquids and soft stuff like yogurt and cheese but my hunger is GONE!!! What a great feeling even if I know it wont last. *sigh* The parking at B +W is still a nightmare, They are doing just valet and handicapped in the underground garage. I parked across the street from the ER but you know what I think it costs more. I'll be tracking down those people who havent posted in a while. You best check in!

    Eating in the evening...

A lot of times when I feel like eating in the evening I will have a hot cup of tea. Another thing I had a lot of when I was first starting out was a CarbMaster yogurt from Ralphs/Krogers grocery. I like them because they are only 60 calories and 8 grams of protein. I also like sugarfree puddings.

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?

Okay, here goes my experiment! Today I will eat one egg, one protein shake made with water, one container of greek yogurt with walnuts, and one protein shot, for a total of 600 cals, 78g protein, 21g carbs. After work I will go for a 2 mile run or 20 minutes of intervals, and lift weights. If it works like I hope it will, I should be down 3 pounds by the weekend. Let's see what happens!
  4. So it is the end of my 6th fast day - week three and it has gone well... got a little hungry earlier, but lasted out and enjoyed my frozen fruit and yogurt! All packed and ready for out school trip to Spain! It is gonna be a lot of fun - with a little stress added in but that goes with the turf! Not sure how I am going to get my fasts days in; I will see how it goes! Wish me luck... speak to you soon x

    Diet After Surgery

I can still have eggs and cheese, Nonfat Greek yogurt, and FairLife milk. I asked about those. And I got GENEPRO to add to smoothies or other foods. I'm still going to cover my tush to at least get Protein. I'm just basically saying I was stressed not to count nutritional numbers. I wanted to see if my program was similar to everyone else's. Regardless, I have to follow their plan, he's my only choice of doctor and I have to drive nearly 6 hours to see him lol. But they have been doing this program many years, so I just hope it works. Something must be right if they are still in business and have nearly a 5 star rating. I was just a bit shocked is all. Still a bit lost as to exactly where to start on the bean portion. I've never been much of a bean eater lol. Guess I will learn. I have Beano on hand at least lol! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Protein Drinks Or Snacks

I still occasionally have a whey Protein shake. I use Jay Robb chocolate(tastes so good), with 8 oz. milk 200 calories, 0 carbs, & 32 grams of protein. sometimes I add some plain greek yogurt and fruit(raspberries). even more protein and tastes so good, it is the consistency of a heavy milk shake. I cut the amt. of milk. this is a great Breakfast on the days I am trying to cut fat and/or carbs. I never snack in between meals.
  8. No i havent tried that, i have only had Atkins and EAS i bought unjury but i have to mix that with skim milk and i am only allowed 3 servings of a dairy that would wipe out my cottage cheese and or yogurt

    Sliders

Protein bars are a huge slider for me. And it sucks, cause I love them. Had to put a hard limit on protein bars of three a week...cause sometimes I'm not that interested in cooking or assembling something healthy and it's just too easy to pick the delicious double chocolate answer. (and then pick it again a few hours later). I know that if I eat food with texture, I'll stay fuller longer. Want to get fiber, work on staying off supplements and crap, eat real food..... Need to keep up good habits...so I limit protein bars now. (Still keep one in my purse always) Oatmeal is a slider for me unless I make it pretty stiff, do steel cut oats, and put cherries and pecans in it. If I do my delux super oatmeal...it doesn't slide so much:) Same with refried beans...if I add the cheese and salsa and avocado and junk...I stay full. By themselves, they slide a little...but not as bad as other things. Yogurt with fruit, nuts and whole grain granola...same. Lot of soups slide...which stinks, because I love soup. My veggie soup doesn't slide so much. Split pea and bean soups are pretty decent to keep you full, too. Nuts are delicious and naughty. I love them and I eat them daily, but portion control sucks with nuts. SO densely caloric! I measure nuts in Tablespoons. And those suckers slide like crazy by themselves.

    Rating protein powders

I have tried it and it doesn't bother me. I put it in yogurt. Some people say it does have a weird taste, but I don't think it does.

  14. How’s everyone feeling today? We’ve got some newly post ops and a couple about to go. @Groovymommy I’m getting excited for you! Today is decidedly better for me. Less soreness. Less queasy. I had some fat free Greek yogurt with a little unsweetened applesauce ( about 3 tablespoons) and my protein broth. My family is currently eating burgers with all the fixings including guacamole and fried eggs, seasoned curly fries and chocolate cake. So I am hiding out in the bedroom. I am determined to not let my choice to do this surgery make them feel guilty for indulging. Those fries smell amazing. But frankly I’m just relieved I think so cuz that is the opposite of nausea. Check in Bypassers! ONWARD!

Just three days out (I was 10/10) I was able to handle some no sugar added applesauce. Now I'm 16 days out... I can't handle eggs of any kind yet. Scrambled, hard boiled, I tried eating yolks from fried eggs... all sits too heavy. Non fat Greek yogurt also didn't sit well. Cream of chicken Soup, diluted slightly more than directions, was good. Sprinkled in some unflavored protein. Same with split pea soup. I think any souls you dilute with Water are good... the milk ones are too heavy for me. My fave Protein shakes are also too thick, so I'm stuck with stuff I'm getting sick of. Hope this helps some...

Sounds like you are doing great I weighed in before and I've gone up 1.5kgs since Friday so odd just be Fluid or something. Congratulations on your first 10kgs that's a huge achievement to be proud of. So you think if it's just mushy I could try that I don't want to drink savoury foods like watery yuck I'd rather stay on shakes which I hate. I'm totally hearing you on the savoury front I'm over sweets too. I bought some refried Beans to have with some melted cheese and sour cream I might try that tomorrow. I might have some yogurt tonight and see how I go. Sent from my iPhone

El, one thing that really helped me was tweaking the Protein to alleviate what was making it gross to me. Too thick? Add more Water. Smells funky? Add a fragrant ingredient like PB2 or fruit. Tastes bad? Try some sugar-free syrup. Tired of sweets? Stir some unflavored into a Soup. So for instance, I would have a bowl of oatmeal that normally contained 7g protein and add a scoop of unflavored protein to bring it up to 17. Then I'd add a tablespoon of sugar free syrup to help mask the protein flavor in a complementary flavor to the oatmeal - caramel in banana oatmeal or maple oatmeal, vanilla in strawberry, etc. I did the same thing with greek yogurt - taking a 12g cup of yogurt (already great) to 22g! Now that I'm on purees it's easier because I can have pureed meat, Beans, etc. The variety really helps me feel more normal, especially when my husband and I can now eat the same stuff, albeit in different form. Hope this helps! Hang in there!

OK so I just checked and of course there is no siggis yogurt to be found in my area. I'm still on the road in Texas and heading home tomorrow. I'm so ready to get home... I'm tired of unjury skim milk and Protein Water. I'm ready to play with some recipes. I need a little flavor in my life. Everything has gone as well as it could have. I continue to feel blessed with my recovery and the process in general. I haven't weighed since before my surgery so I'm excited to see if I've lost any weight or if I'm hanging onto it like I have in the past. As excited as I am to continue this journey at home I must confess that I am more excited to see, hold, kiss and sleep beside the wonderful man that is My Better Half!! Best Wishes to all who are about to embark on this journey!!!
  22. I've got my last 50 days worth of food on MFP. My diary should be public. I've logged in every single thing I've eaten, except for Vitamins (just started logging those). Typical day: Breakfast: Premier Protein shake 160 Lunch: some type of meat, usually chicken. I can only eat between 1-2 ounces of meat, on a good day. Then I get full. Dinner: same as lunch Snack: I was eating a snack of cheese, yogurt or something, but the past two weeks, food seems revolting. I got really sick feeling after swimming last week, so I've been drinking Gatorade to up my calories a little. I have not yet felt hungry.

Hi October sleevers, another newbie joining in. I was sleeved on 10/17 and am anxiously counting the hours until I get to graduate from full liquids to purees on Thursday. Mostly because I've been living primarily off of yogurt and Protein shakes (most Soups aren't high enough in Protein and I end up only eating them on days when I'm over my protein goal) and I'm really looking forward to more savory stuff - dinner that tastes like dinner! Also, alas, I thought protein shakes were fine pre-surgery but I'm really sensitive to the smell now and have to get creative to mask it. I start back to work tomorrow, teleworking for a few days and then back to the office next week. I'm a little nervous about it because my stamina still isn't the best, but hopefully they will understand if I start drooping midway through the day. The hardest part will be providing myself with enough of the right kind of foods to keep me going - I'm thinking of looking for some shelf-stable milk boxes I can keep at my desk for emergencies along with pre-measured Protein shake powders, plus some of those squeezable fruit puree pouches in case I let my blood sugar get too low and need a little quick energy. Some really useful things I've discovered so far: Dannon Light and Fit Greek yogurt - 80 calories, sugar free, 12 grams of protein in a 5.5 oz serving. Plus I think they are quite tasty. Sugar Free coffee syrups (by Torani, DaVinci, Monin, etc.) - a tablespoon of one of these can add a great flavor boost. Sometimes I add unflavored protein to a yogurt, pudding, oatmeal, etc., and then add a complementary syrup to help mask the protein flavor. They can also help make a protein shake better. Don't add too much, though; in large quantities they can have a chemically flavor. Note that these aren't like the extracts you use in baking - they also contain sweetener, so if you are using them take that into account. PB2 peanut flour (powdered peanut) - another flavor addition for protein stuff that also adds some extra protein, though it works best if you blend the shake. (Using a Blender Bottle or similar, some grit will settle to the bottom of the cup.) When I got to full liquids I bought a ton of soups and sugar free puddings. but I haven't eaten many at all - I can only eat so much in a day and usually I end up going with a higher protein shake or yogurt. Maybe now that I'm going back to work I'll have more time to get my protein in and therefore a bit more flexibility... Weight loss has been going well so far. I lost more in the nearly four weeks since surgery than I did in the four months prior, which is encouraging! I'm at the halfway point in what I call the "healing" diet - my surgeon doesn't put you on regular food until 8 weeks - and I'm really anxious to stop having to blend everything! At least starting this week I'll be able to share some meals with the family again - I'm going through our standard meals and trying to figure out which ones are puree-able. I'm thinking that things with sauces are going to be my best bet... maybe a pot roast in the crock pot, that sort of thing, and then I could just puree up a few portions for myself. We'll see how it goes!

    Little Green getting little(r)

My appointment today went well! My surgeon seemed really pleased with my progress and how everything is healing up. The dietitian wasn't there so I didn't get to chat with her about food, but the surgeon said she would have her call me on Monday. I asked about why I haven't lost any weight in over a week and she said to wait another week and evaluate after that. She mentioned I could be eating too many calories but we both agreed that was extremely unlikely. I don't see how that's even possible unless I have some sort of freak metabolic issue post-op. Most days this week I could barely choke down a 160-cal PP shake plus maybe half a cup of soup. I'm not worried about the food, to be totally honest. I just need to get walking and keep hydrating. Today was probably my best food day yet although I admit I didn't eat anything until 2pm-- but after that, I had Panera broccoli cheddar soup (in two sittings), a strawberry banana Greek yogurt smoothie (over the course of 3 hours), and about a half ounce of feta cheese (allowed to melt down in my mouth before swallowing of course). I'm SO happy about the smoothie; I was really worried about dumping from high amounts of natural sugars but I had no problems and it tasted absolutely phenomenal. I got some bananas at the store tonight and I'm eagerly waiting for them to ripen! I went to the store on my own tonight and shopped for about 40 minutes. I was definitely shaky toward the end but I just sipped my water and took it easy. If we can manage to get up and out of the house before 8, tomorrow morning will be a good one for trail walking... but I don't have much faith in us getting up, haha. I need to go to Whole Foods soon to see if I can find soy-based products like yogurt that I couldn't find at Wally World or my grocery store, so that can be another indoor walk for me. Slowly but surely I will get there!
