What a great NSV, before you've even left hospital!

Phew .... just caught up on the thread. Great to see all my old friends doing so well. Hi to everyone I haven't met yet. I'm sure you've already realised what a great bunch of people this is. NSV this week. I can do (unassisted) pull up. It's a real milestone in my training. 44 years old and I've never done a strict pull up in my life before. Very happy. Have a great day, Deano

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
vickyd replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been on a business trip since Monday and this trip has been full of NSVs. First, I didn't have to use a seatbelt extender for the first time in years. Then today when we went out to lunch we walked 4 blocks each way to and from the restaurant. And again for dinner we walked 3 blocks each way to the restaurant. None of these things would have happened 3 months ago...I wouldn't have been able to walk that far. Even more than the 41 lbs I have lost, these things really show me how far I've come! -
Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Wow, congrats on all your NSV's!! I know you must be thrilled. That hummus from TJ sounds so.... :w00t: I must try it. Sounds to me like hummus is a good thing when you're banded, because it goes down easy. I guess it's pretty healthy, yea? OMG Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back. What a weakness! I look forward to the Fall for three reasons: cooler weather, Pumpkin Ale, and Pumpkin Spice Lattes. I'm done for. Good thing I'm getting band in November! OH YEA! Did you see my new colorful siggy??!! The people over in the November thread wanted Notorious Newvembers, but I said that was too weird-sounding. So I sort of chose Notorious Novembers, whether they like it or not. I hope they don't get mad at me! :mad2: -

Just popping in to say "hi". I haven't done a lot of chatting here, but I do follow everyone. I was banded by Dr. K on July 22 2009. My start weight was 284 but I weighed 270 on the day of banding. I'm proud to report I've lost nearly 99 pounds since I started this process. (I've also lost my gall bladder, but that's another story.) I've had five fills (and one partial unfill tweak). I haven't been to see Dr. K since May when I traveled to Denver twice in 5 days (once for a fill, once for a partial unfill). I'm at great restriction right now. I have about another 30 pounds to go and am confident that they will come off even though it is slow going now. Here's a picture of me at 284 at a wedding in May of 2009 (I'm in orange). Here's me two weeks ago in a dress that I'm planning on wearing to a wedding on Saturday. Other NSVs, I can climb into my ambulance with ease now; I've gotten a new jumpsuit for my EMS duties (when folks from other departments were teasing me about my clown suit, the Fire Chief thought it was time for me to size down... from a men's XL to a men's medium). I tend to my garden with ease. I walk everywhere. I fit into size 16 jeans; regular size L tops. I'm just thrilled with my progress. -
NSV, 30 days post surgery hiking Mt Rainer's skyline trail. Other than the 2 hour drive there, 4 hour hike and 2 hour drive back to Seattle, feeling pretty good. Feel like the red eye will be a good time for a solid nap

NSVs are amazing - my surgery was 5/31/18, I reached my surgeons goal on Sunday. Down 95lbs and ready to maintain. I bought all new pants In January and they are all too big now. I am now a size 8! Never in my life have I been an 8! I was an 18-20 when I had the surgery. I can feel actual bones under my skin - that’s new. my goal was to be the weight I was when I was married 15 years ago. I am 25lbs past that. I have never felt this good. The best decision I have ever made for myself

Oh, I've done well so far this week - a good fast day Mon, a clean low cal day today and I intend to fast again tomo. Insanity in work Thursday, so I won't be able to walk again Fri...lol. I am still at the top end of my bounce range and I really don't like it - hoping that it will come off soon as I am 'due' a 'whoosh' on the scale. If I remember right, the last time I hit the top of my bounce I stayed a while and then dropped to a new set point. I have been at this set point for 4-5 weeks, so fingers crossed my pattern will continue and I will see some positive movement soon. On another note, I have an amazing NSV - I tried my old signate ring on today, my mam and dad bought me it for my 21st birthday. I haven't been able to wear it for about 18 years as it was too small. It fits perfectly again! I am wearing it as I type, But the strange thing is that, I am at least 14lbs heavier now than I was when I was 21... hmmm, I really do think that my body composition has changed a lot in the last 22 years!!!

February 2019 weight loss buds

Okay. Just had another NSV. I’m at my local spa waiting for a massage to try to work these kinks of my lower back. I go to this spa about 3-4 times per year. Anyway, they have 2 sets of ladies robes: normal and plus size and they are on different sides of the locker area. I learned this once to my dismay a couple of years ago when I showed up for a treatment and they were running low on plus size robes. Until then I’d had no idea they had always led me to one side for a specific reason. Needless to say, it was humiliating to be told (kindly) that they were waiting for a robe my size. This time around after I checked in, they took me to the side with the “normal” size robes. Progress -
Ladies, I posted this in the vets forum but I wanted to post it here in case anyone missed it. This really touched a deep part of my soul today and I wanted to share it with all of my closest "Pal" friends. (I stole that from you, Kim!) I just experienced the best NSV ever! This just happened... My 10 year old was playing in the basement, he came upstairs and said, "Mom, I found some pictures of me when I was little and you were in them. You look really different now. Your face used to be so puffy. Mom, you lost a lot of weight, I am really proud of you!". He then came over to me with a smile on his face and gave me a big hug. My heart melted. He was only 7 when I had surgery. I asked him if he remembered me when I was big. He said he didn't. I was glad. He also told me I looked really sad in all of the pictures. We talked for a while about being healthy and about never making fun of fat people. He then asked me how our lives would be different if I wouldn't have been fat. (Where in the world this little guy came up with a question like this is beyond me!) I told him that was a really good question and asked him what he thought. He said,"I think you would have been a lot happier and your face wouldn't have looked so sad in those pictures.". This was a very touching moment for me, I don't want to ever forget it.

You are doing so great, Bec! Glad to hear from you. Your second picture is not showing up for me though. I have an NSV. I walk to mass on Sundays. I used to leave at 8:15 and get there by 9:05 or so for 9:15 mass. Now I leave at 8:20 and get there by 9! I will have to start leaving 10 minutes later, I think!

Saw the first photo since starting this journey that i loved this week. I have been really struggling with still seeing myself as fat. I'm now 62.5kg but until seeing this photo, still felt like I was 100kg. I won't post the pic because it has my daughter in it, but thought I'd share my NSV.

December 2010 Bandsters out there?

WOW Vicky! What great NSV's! I also love the increased stamina that i have and my knee and foot pains are gone! I think what you are describing weight loss wise makes sense. Your body must need to adjust for each decade lost. I know it is common to have weight loss stall out at weights we weighed for a long time in the past, a set point I think it's called. Yeah for you! Joan, your sista, lol -

You know I've always been a one bone kind a gal too!!! One just One! You're good with the exercise, I'm good with the eating... let's just make one person out of us and we'll be successful! We could be the Sheldee~ That's great!!! I had the same thing today! I bought a pair of jeans from Old Navy online. It was during their big jean sale, $9.99 a pair. I got some really cute ones! BUT they are all huge on me!!! Yikes! Really huge! I can pull them off and on without unbuttoning them! Size 22! AND I started at size 32! Don't you love it! I can't believe you're wearing a 12! Mountain, hill, ant hill -- it's all an achievement! AND something to be proud of!! Congrats! that's a great NSV! -
I've Got one! My very Firstest one.I have lost 15 pounds in one month on my liver shrinking diet. Thought I still look FAT! Okay I had to visit my PCP for a presurgical visit. He has in his waiting and exam rooms many chairs with arms, only a few without. I have even been known to snarl " get up and give me they chair" You see the ones with the arms PINCH my thigh and hip flab. Yesterday I wasn't thinking and I sat, down in an armed chair and fit. No pinching, no have to be pulled up out of one, I could sit in it and had 1/8 inch clearance on either side. A chorus please My Rump is getting Smaller My Rump is getting smaller! An NSV a really truly NSV!

Well Cammarays. you are sparkling for me from afar, and Rosie what a lovely occurance for you, you are literally in your 2nd Youth with such a petite size. Reading these NSV firms the resolve of Pre Surgery Chicks like Me. We say" Hey they could do it, If I firm my resolve, keep following the diet and exercise rules, I think,I can too!" and we keep chugging along, even with doldrums on either side, toward our future finishes. Thank you for your shining examples!🙉🙈🙊😛

NSV- I jogged a mile without stopping! It was a slow jog but I did it!! I've always wanted to run. My thighs didn't rub together, like they used to! Soooo happy!😆👏

Two NSVs from this weekend! I was able to buy knee-high boots from PAYLESS!! EXCUSE ME???! Last year Torrid's boots were too small for my calves. Also, I can cross my legs while sitting! I can't actually remember the last time I was able to do this. I don't think I even could in high school! YAAAYYYY!!
-
My most recent NSV (if I can be considered one) was that my friend snapped a pic of me without my knowledge and sent it to me and I didn’t completely hate it, lol
-
I have had several NSV recently... my favorite is that as of Wednesday I am off of my quick acting insulin and my other shot has been taken down from 35 units to 20 units. My A1C is now 5.4 and I may actually be off of another medication by the time I have my surgery. I have not had as much knee pain which makes it easier to walk around.

Yey Cathy! Good for you... Monday I focus on food. I had NSV of sorts today... I had to baby sit for a friend (her dad is back in hospital) and on the way back they brought a McDonalds home - they offered me something as I hadn't eaten all day and I refused! I then sat there whilst 5 of them devoured their Big Macs and shakes... and it didn't bother me one bit! How cool am I? lol

Well, just had to share this NSV with my pals. Somebody gave me a beautiful Brighton belt about four years ago. Of course, you know I couldn't remotely wear it! Today, almost four years later I have it on! I couldn't even wear it when I reached goal the first time! Thanks, 5:2 and an additional 10 pounds down! I seriously couldn't believe it when I just reached for it today and buckled it right up!!!! AMAZEBALLS, Coops!

Just stopping by to say hello. I'm finding this banding experience interesting. Of course, I'm still on liquids (full) and not experiencing the hunger that you are. Also, because of my weight - I'm in the 300's - and age, I know that I'll probably lose a lot up front, before it starts to taper down some. I just wanted to say that you are all doing very good! I'm glad that you are sharing the good and the bad. It helps. Oh, and I wanted to talk about plateaus. I just attended a health living workshop yesterday. One of the presenters (the RN) had the bypass several years ago. One important thing she mentioned was that plateaus are natural. They are our bodies way of adjusting to all of the changes that are taking place. She said that when you are plateauing the worst thing you could do, is to drop your eating below what is healthy (that's if you were eating the correct amount to begin with). Because you can inadvertently end up prolonging your plateau that way. Her suggestion was to try something different. Switch up your exercise plan...take it the next level...alternate the foods that you were eating. She also suggested that you look for alternative changes in your body (the NSV's...nonscale victories...that we've discussed) to get you through this period. Finally, if your plateau is lasting for longer then, I think it's 3 weeks, AND you've tried some of the above steps, you should consult your surgeon/nutritionist for direction. Almost forgot...I've lost 10 lbs!

April 2019 Surgeries!
I Am Groot replied to CajunSam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Another update: My sleeve was on the 4th and my first follow-up was today. Everything went well. The incisions are healing nicely with slight oozing in one and my first NSV - my blood pressure has already dropped from prehypertension levels to normal. My surgeon seemed surprised by my burping complaint. Thankfully, it's getting better each day. Now, only if I could chew something. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using BariatricPal mobile app -
That doesn't sound good Mimz. Stay strong. I had an NSV last night whilst shopping at Target. Finally got around to buying smaller underwear. Yay!
