Low Bp! Yay!

So i have felt tired today and I asked one of the nurses to check my bp. I was 110/60. My bp has been dropping since surgery and I am on a low dose only of lisinopril. The dose is going to be cut in half and I will soon be off it!. This is a great NSV for me! I used to be on 3 drugs now almost on none for bp!

For Just Us Guys

Had a NSV today (and officially, down 70 lbs!) Went to take my first flying lesson today, and part of the drill is setting the weight and balance for the plane. I tell the instructor I'm at 205 (throwing in clothes etc), and he just kinda stops for a second. He asks me if I'm sure, and I said "yes" (thinking -- damn, I'm still a fatass). He looks again and says "Ok, but I had you pegged at 185" Hurrah!

Steady losers ;-)

Bandiva! Sorry about the obstruction, glad you got a new doctor out of it! And, how awesome on the 100lb loss! YOU GO GIRL! sweet - keep up with the SB. And sorry about the flat tire. I hate car trouble. B'man - you go girl! Keep up the good work! Kaydoll - seriously? This is like the 4th or 5th time he's shit in the tub. Drives me bananas. Hot water poo poo is the nastiest thing! UGH. So anyhow, I signed on to tell y'all my NSV. I just took my measurements. THEN I compared to my starting point measurements! Since December 1, 2006 I have lost: Neck: 1" Bust: 5.5" Ribs: 4.25" Waist: 4.5" Hips: 8.25" Arms: 3.25" Thigh: 6.75" Calves: 3" I've lost over 8" on my hips! That is a HUGE success for my uberbootiliciousness. I am ready to cross the great divide. Just 23 lbs to go! Wait, how long til T'gvg? I better get cracking! Okay, it's 7:20 and I'm butt ass naked sitting on the bed. Guess I'm going to be late for work today. (HA!) Later! Nat

6. Great idea! How are our Mexico Octosleevers faring with their losses and NSV's?!? As for myself, I had surgery 10/27/12 with Dr Garcia. Started at 270--now down to 206.5 . So about 63 lbs down and I feel great!!

Oh my! I'm so far behind! LOL. Welcome back Dee! Welcome back from vacation everyone. I was on vacay last Thursday through the weekend...and just haven't had a chance to post. I'm off work today for the kiddo's first day of seventh grade...so I had a few minutes before he gets home. I did okay during the vacay. didn't really gain except for a bit of water weight. At the theme park on Thursday, I had a double serving protein shake on the drive from Nashville to Santa Claus, IN. We got into the park and I did not eat again until about 530!!! Didn't even think about food. However, they have free drink stations throughout the park so I did drink a lot pre-sweetened tea and lemonade. LOL. It seems like everyone has either done okay or rebounded from vacations/summer break. Time to knuckle down and get back on track for me. Gotta get back to an exercise routine besides just walking. These abs and thighs are NOT going to tone themselves. lol. I have a check up on Monday. Don't know if he will do a fill. I feel like my band is fairly tight most of the day. I just have to do better about what I'm putting into my body. (i just ate miniature mounds candy bar!) Hope you all are doing better than I am. Oh...I DO have an NSV. I'm officially into size 16 (not 16W), down from almost a size 26! And...the 16's are loose in the waist and hopefully will be loose enough to go to a 14 soon. Have a great day!

Hi all. Sorry I didn't post last Monday. I was at 174.5 which was the same as the previous Monday. I did we'll with Thanksgiving, we went to our friends' house. They sent home some leftovers but one meal of leftovers is certainly better than a houseful! Yesterday I was at 170.5 for a total loss of 81 pounds. I'd like to be at 85 by Christmas but I'm hesitant to make that a "goal". It seems like anytime I set a specific goal I end up sabotaging myself; but if I just plug along and see what happens my results are always better. I should probably reflect more on that! On the topic of alcohol, I'm still okay with wine (my poison of choice). I haven't tried any liquor drinks, but I have a feeling they would hit me a lot faster. I try to stay away from beer because of the carbonation. If I do have beer I usually go VERY slowly and end up giving half of it to my hubby. Two NSV's - bought a pair of size 12 (curvy fit) pants; now I just need to focus on my thunder thighs and bat wings! I also survived my first holiday open house. I did about one small round of grazing, didn't even fill up a small plate, and I was done (plus two glasses of wine - told you it was my fave!) Prior to the band I would have stood at the table without a plate and just gnoshed!

Kath, it's not a small achievement at all. That's awesome. Congrats to you and all the "small" NSV's you {and we} get as they all amount to one big one in the end!!

HI everyone- weekend was kind of a bummer. Was going to a zumba party but DH gave me some grief Thursday night about it, so I didn't bring my clothes. Then he said, "go ahead and go," so I arranged with dd to bring the little kids and my clothes so I could go- and she totally forgot my clothes. So that was a bust. Didn't eat horribly- and no ice cream- but didn't log or really keep too much track. But today I will! I also didn't sleep well at all and woke up with a headache. Grrrr. Oh well. Oh, and DH was going to take the kids to the pool, but they had to come home because a baby pooped in the pool, LOL. Good news on the DH front- the ultrasound came back fine, no issues at all with pancreas, liver, etc. So you'd think that was good news, right? What does DH say? "Nope, it's all in my bowels, I told you that." Sigh. Not only is the glass half empty, but it's cracked and somebody spit in it. Nicole- the light therapy may just be the ticket. Nothing too long, though Chrissy- yay for zumba!!! Good for you, and what a nice NSV to have the instructor not recognize you! And no knee pain, that is great. I too eat more calories and am hungrier sooner- but honestly, for me, some of it are the sliders I'm eating because real food can be too slow to eat or the risk of stuck is too great. So that's my challenge, to eat real food! Ready- I hope the new fill is good- so your slip is fixed, yes? That's good news!! Now you can be back on track, good for you! Ladybandido- thanks for the prayers! Heaven knows we need them, LOL. February is a tough month, my BIL has SAD, it can hit him hard. Have you every heard of a lightbox? It gives full spectrum light and can really help. And it's not easy being sick on top of it all, of course!! Sue- sounds to me like you did well, at least under calories, so good for you! And manning a bake sale table, well, that just sounds hard!! WHen things like that tempt me I remind myself that they won't taste as good as when I make them, so why waste the calories on something yucky...LOL... Well, off to put out fires at work, grrr. Everyone have a great day! Nicki

resptech2band- You might be waiting to long to eat. I sometimes get that weird growling of the lower part of my stomach, it I don't get my normal full feeling right away. shonda225- Your body probably went into shock from losing 18 pounds so quickly. And I agree, the time before the first fill is white knuckling it. Hopefully your next fill will help. You haven't failed, you are still on your journey. kymie9899- Great job on the early morning workout! Way to go! JustDoIt130-Two kiddos with lice, that sucks. Good luck, I hope you don't have to cut your little girls hair! ready for my journey- Size 18 falling off of you, that is great! Aren't NSVs great! As for me, Doctor appt went well. I had my second fill and I am healing well from the port flip surgery. Even better news is that I have offically lost 41 pounds. I am super excited to be to 40 pounds! I am looking forward to 50 pounds gone now! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I am 2 pounds away from weighing less than my DH, I can't wait!

Chrissy, congrats on the NSV, and yes, going down a size is definitely an NSV. Don't beat yourself up over the scale not moving. There is no way any of us could lose that amount of weight, you being the most, and 2 days before my surgery, in such a short amount of time. { 6 mths this week for you & I} I think we're all doing great, learning to live with our new found friend, the lapband. We've all had ups & downs in our lives but as long as we're learning to control our {eating} emotions, it's a NSV all the way. I agree with Nicole, to change our goals to being more aware of our bad habits and turning them into positive ones. The scale will follow. Now, my goal today is to get my arse up in the gym. I bought Jillian Michael's Yoga Meltdown DVD to get me inspired. Haven't looked at it yet, but just looking at her picture of the cover of the DVD scares the hell out of me! LOL

Couch to 5K Anyone want to start with me ?

Stranger - glad you are feeling better and super glad you logged fewer lbs! Welcome ting - your found a great thread. These guys have funny stories, and offer great support and inspiration! I seem to be playing tag with this silly cold, I had to skip yesterday's gym trip and I am sitting out today for rest. I may try tomorrow depending on how today goes. I had a cool NSV of sorts yesterday. I visited my PCP for a re-up on my cholesterol meds and something for this cough. Our Ins is a PPO, so he doesn't know a thing about my banding adventure. So, I finally told him about it. For some history, I know him - he is not just my doc. His wife helped found our local Habitat, she still helps me with fund raising, and I have worked with their daughter on a HFH project. Let's just say I was nervous. He was positively giddy! Can't wait to observe the whole process. Wanted to know why I chose LB over GBS. Apparently, I will be his first patient to go the LB route. And here I thought he was going to give me some big "don't do it" speech. That was a big relief.

Amica, first of all congrats on a huge NSV....that's awesome!!!! Second of all...I hear you on the green zone issue, as I am going through the same thing. My dietician always had me under the impression that when you're in the green, and you have eaten enough, you will be physically unable/uncomfortable if you eat any more....while I had a few sticks and a few PB issues the week after I had my last fill, I am by no means uncomfortable if I keep eating slow enough. It sometimes will vary by day, usually the first meal of the day I have to be extra careful...I don't eat breakfast, so that's usually lunch. I hear you on the candy...I work in an insurance office, with a candy bowl on my desk. I used to indulge in the candy, until I began counting calories after surgery and realized, each mini reeses, mini candy bar, etc is 40 calories or more...and who can have just one?? So forget it, that takes away way too much real food I could be eating.

JDI, ouch! wow I can see why running would hurt. I had a knee injury many years ago and running always aggravate it unless I where very tight compression pants. I think I may need to look into a dedicated brace for that knee. Running is good exercise but it's not making the scale move but I'm sticking with it cause it make me feel good.. the scale isn't as important as that. NSV - although I can't do it outside yet..However, last night on the treadmill I actually Jogged 3.13 with no walking!! time: 38:14, pace: 12'10". I felt amazing! best I've ever done! Now if I could just find a official 5k treadmill Race I'd be ready!! but I did go ahead and registered for my next outdoor 5k Color Me Rad race on March 30th...My birthday! I hope your DD is feeling much better! and your mojo will return!! Everyone have a good weekend.
17. Hi all, I'm also so glad for the OP posting this I'm 13 days post op and everything has gone really great. The only pain I ever really had was first thing out of the op in recovery from the gas- which after "something to help" from the recovery Doctor I was absolutely fine when I woke up in my room. My program allowed 3 nights in hospital which although I didn't think I totally need it, it was very nice to be looked after I didn't need any pain meds during my stay- and I was able to toodle about my room and the hallway for little wanders about. My stitches were tender but absolutely fine. The first days at home also meant first purées - I was so worried about all the horror stories about not being able to stomach foods that I was very apprehensive, but it's all gone down very well and I haven't felt sick once- especially when you stick to your measures. The only problem is maybe wanting to try a bit more challenging foods when you feel too brave but I know I have another week of purées so I'm making sure to resist the urge. I've also been walking an average of 4-6kms a day this week to get my stamina back up (back to work on Monday )- I've really been enjoying my danders about and 10kgs down since the pre-op diet has even meant hills feel easier One thing I need to stop doing is weighing myself every day- there has been a wee bit of a stall last couple of days which I've been disheartened about but I've realised weighing every day isn't a heathy way of monitoring- i need to focus on the "NSV's" like being able to walk up hills with out getting out of breath 2 steps in I'm excited to see what the next few months bring. All the best everyone! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Banded 12/20 down 21 since surgery for a total of 35. Great NSV yesterday, a Co-worker who doesn't know about my banding came up to me and said "I noticed you've done a great job sticking to your diet and have a lot of determination to do it over the holidays. Is there any advice you can give me a really need to loose weight too." It was such a confidence boost and I told her id be happy to help her and be a motivator to/for her. Hope all of you are doing just as well. Saw this pic and thought I should share. Happy Thursday to all

Hi All! Happy bandiversary Mis and congrats JDI on the help for the car! That surely would help you sleep better! And sleeping better helps with weight loss too. I've been busier than a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest ... Probably all of us are. I did the 2 day liquids, Nicole, and actually got down to 170.5! I seriously think I have an aversion to the 160s, because no sooner than I saw that weight on the scale, and my husband commented "you look skinny today" (ok, he IS a sweetheart sometimes) then, poof, I ate sweets and crap and went to 174. I've just been playing this same old record. Now that spring is on the way (to me, spring is on its way starting Jan 2!) ... I am back to logging and working out. Oh, and I have a fill appt tomorrow, so I think I'll get one. I'm still at 2.8 in a 10cc so I think I've got room. Maybe another .2 for an even 3. I DID have a NSV, though. I have these high top tennies with buckles on the sides. I bought them at a discount store when I was my heaviest and for the life of me I couldn't buckle them. I couldn't bend over to do it, I couldn't sit down because of where the buckles were and I couldn't reach. I wore them once and had hubby buckle them (embarrassing) and explained to him I got them at outlet store and it must be because the buckles were put on wrong where no one could reach! Anyway... I wore them yesterday... Bent down, reached over, and buckled them!!! I guess it wasn't a design flaw after all! Too funny. Have a super week everyone.

OCTOBER 2014

Last night I was standing at the sink doing dishes, and my bf was just standing there looking at me...I said "what?" And he was like, babe you're so little now, I see you all the time so I don't notice how dramatic it is, but I'm just looking at you now and you're just little. By next year I'll be able to throw you across a field....lol, why he'd want to throw me across a field, idk, but it feels nice to hear the word little lol. I'm far from little, but then again, I guess compared to how I looked last September, I'm little lol. NSV! I'M LITTLE! lol
22. I can't wait to experience this NSV!

Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first

I've had several NSV's, such as comfortably fitting in a normal size chair, using a regular stall in the bathroom, fitting in the movie theater seats. But today is, without a doubt, my happiest. Today, after I did a 1 hr workout early in the morning, I spent the day with my son and we unexpectedly ended up doing a 4 mile hike!!!! I didn't have to stop and rest, I wasn't out of breath, and we were chatting the whole time without me struggling. He mentioned it a few times, and said he was so proud of me, and I was shocked. I literally didn't even notice how easy it was for me!!! I just got on with it and walked. It was AMAZING!!!!!
24. This got me in the feels, actually made me tear up feeling happy for you. Congratulations on this, you have obviously been doing the internal self love and acceptance part of this journey. That is a solid NSV!
25. oh my goodness - yesterday was a big NSV for me - I went on a 10 mile bike ride! I still can't believe I rode that far! My legs were jelly at the end and I am sore today, but it was soooooo fun! Being on my bike makes me feel like a happy kid.
