    To tight..will it get better?

Hi I would think that if you lose some more weight within the next few weeks (which you should at this rate) the fat by your band will decrease thus loosening your band so yes I do believe it will get better.
  2. I had my surgery on February 13 this year and surgery went fine. I lost about 45 pounds to date and did not have any issues. I’m trying to prevent stalling because the weight was coming off pretty regularly and now it has drastically slowed down. I burn about 700 cal a day and my energy is fine. My main issue is getting enough calories. I consume on average about 500-600 cal a day if I’m lucky. I get 90-100 g of protein mostly from shakes. I never get hungry and forget sometimes to eat. I’m not looking to consume more food just raise my calories but I am worried about stalling. Did anyone stall because of too few calories and if so what did you do to balance it?
  3. It's important to keep the eyes on the prize...that's what everyone says as you are struggling through liquids, eating food a baby may turn down, forgoing your coworkers bday cake, ignoring adult libations and gooey treats at parties...the list is endless but if you are in the losing stage you are sacrificing a lot to reach your goal. So instead of focusing on what you are missing, giving up, losing out on..... I thought it would be fun to tell you what I have gained since getting to goal. If you are there or if you have something you cannot wait to do, see, experience once you get there ...Please feel free to add to my list... I love wearing jeans... I love it better that they are a size 8....Who knew they are so comfy when they aren't digging into your skin? I love that there is always a strong selection of smalls on the sale rack and in consignment stores I love not having to eyeball a chair wondering if it will hold me I love being in my queen size bed and realizing in fact we don't need a king like we once thought. I love fitting in the bathtub comfortably I love knowing I don't have to worry about who will sit next to me in a plane, train, bus... I am smaller enough.... I love not sweating when I put out the trash or walk up ten steps I love not to have to worry if "this makes me look fat" I love that I have not one but 2 pairs of whit capris and pants... Yup I said white..... Lol I love that my BP is normal. What do you or what do you think you will love about making it to goal?
  4. While I have been happy with the weight loss progress that I have made since surgery in November, today was the first day that I felt genuinely excited. For years, I have wanted to take my wife to the Dallas Arboretum, which is a pretty spectacular 66-acre place near where we live. A trip there involves a good amount of walking. Since, before surgery, I would get out of breath just walking from the parking lot to my office or my back would be agonizing just waiting in line briefly for something, a day at the Arboretum was previously impossible. When I had my surgery in November, I swore that I would make enough progress to be able to do a trip to the Arboretum before the new year. That was today. All in all, we had a great time and I walked over 4.5 miles with no back pain and no breathlessness. I actually felt like a normal person! My knees hurt now, but I will take that.

    The Last 10 Lbs

I am 2 lbs from goal and then I gained 2 but have now lost them. I need to figure this out so I can reach my goal and stay there!

    The Last 10 Lbs

I have found I need to track and weigh everyday... but I have tried to take that "obsessed" mind part out. I just do it like brushing my teeth. When I don't do it, I gain. I am finally at goal, (well, working on losing a little bounce range) and how I act is mostly the same as I did when I was still in the losing phase. I use the 5:2 and luckily I don't get too cranky, wouldn't like that! It has gotten easier with time. Its a good maintenance tool too, you might even get away with one day a week for that(6:1). (not me so far, but after the bounce pounds are gone... 3 or 4 I may go to one day a week and see if I can keep the weight off) Just do what your doing, its not a race, you will get there! I was 5 pounds from goal when i started gaining, and it took me almost a year to get back there and then to goal. I'm still learning how to do this right!

6 months out and only 60lbs?

Once I started weightlifting, my weight has stayed in the 190's. However, my body has changed a lot. My surgeon and NUT tells me not to stress it. Inches matter more than the scale because that is unhealthy fat that you are burning off. Muscle also weighs more than fat and when you lift or workout. Do not lose faith and just keep going. You will break your stall soon.

    Wow!

I am so excited. I got up this morning and weighed myself. As I was getting ready for church this morning my mom pulled an old skirt of mine out of the closet and asked if I want to try it on just to see if I can fit into it. I told her no at first because it was a size 22 and I wear (or so I thought) a size 26/28 in skirts and pants. I couldn't believe it! I slipped it right on with no struggle. We were so excited. I can't believe I am actually losing weight . I haven't felt this good in years. I was a size 22 before I got pregnant. I have 20 more pounds to lose to get to my pre-pregnancy weight of 278 lbs. That will be my next goal. I also measured myself. I have lost 2 more inches from my waist (4 total) and 1 1/2 inches from my legs. I just can't wait until I reach my goal. I see that I can really do it now. I go in for surgery at 5:30 tomorrow morning.
  9. They don't seem to impact my weight, but my doctor raked me over the coals for not taking them. He said by the time you have symptoms from not taking them, you'd be a mess. I take gummy adult viatmins. Yum.
  10. It happened to me, too. I was stuck for 3 weeks, but I increased my fluids and eventually my body decided to cooperate. This week the weight is flying off - 7 lbs. since Monday.

    Pre surgery diet

I always thought the same thing about Weight Loss Surgery -- if I have to diet anyway, why do I need surgery? But after 40 years of yo-yo dieting and failures, I was ready for something else. The difference is that after the sleeve, you're no longer hungry. Medical problems are resolved. The "diet" is no longer a diet -- it is a food plan for someone who eats to live, rather than lives to eat. For me, food no longer has control over me. It's just another thing I do to take care of myself. Because, yes I am worth it. And, by the way, if you had told me 3 months ago that I would be saying this, I would have said you were nuts! Good luck. You can do this. It will be amazing!
  12. Hi. Just wanted to share this funny story with you. Before I decided to get my band, I joined Weight Watchers (AGAIN). I went to the first meeting and the lecturerer asked what problems everyone had had that week. One lady said she hadn't been drinking enough water. Then another said she hadn't exercised enough. Then about 5 or 6 people said they had been having problems with too many BLT's. I thought that was kinda strange - all these people eating too many bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwhiches????? I finally asked the nice lady sitting next to me and she informed me that BLT's were Bites, Licks, and Tastes. So just remember... to many BLT's and you won't lose like you want to. Hope everyone is well and happy!!! Becky
  13. This is prob a stupid question but would love to know the answer to encourage me to drink!! Why is water so important to our weight loss? I have seen people posting to drink more to break stalls or reasons for inadequate weight loss etc. What function does drinking high volumes of liquid serve?
  14. Tommorrow is my final nutrition appt and I am supposed to be weighed. I'm dreading this because i didnt loose any weight but yet gained! About three weeks ago I went to Florida with my hubby and the babies and brought up that I'm going to get my health back and get the lapband. Their comments werent very encouraging at all. They didnt help me with the whole food thing but if anything egged me on to eat like shit. I didnt have any fast food believe it or not but yet ate a ton of sweets and drank about 398698632 pepsi's!!!!:scared2: I did go for walks if it counts? lol ughh But when I got home I came right on here for some support last week and decided I want to do this for me! I know I can't do it on my own and so for the last 4days I've been doing mainly Protein shakes. My weighin is tomorrow afternoon and my scale keeps giving me like 5 different weights?!?! I was supposed to loose 5lbs orginally, but while in Fl gained 3 or so lbs on top of that. I guess I've lost the threelbs because I'm back at the same weight as I was for my last weigh in...highly doubt I can loose 5lbs in a day?! Sighs its my fault, a part of me is just thinking about rescheduling this appt for next week and showing alil more dedication. I'm very disappionted in myself right now.:cursing:

    Train of thought

Brooklyngirl, First off....Tuesday! Wow! So exciting for you! I hope it goes very smooth and youre back with your family quickly and feeling fantastic! I will be thinking about you next week! Secondly.... I am absolutely not able to stop myself. Its a harsh reality, isn't it? I have faced that many times just trying to prepare myself for this surgery. I am a single mom (the fullest definition) of a 12 yr old boy. I have tried to drink Protein shakes while he eats the dinner I made for him. Extremely difficult! See, I own my own house, I take care of all house and home business. Everything from yard work to dishes and everything in between. I work 40 - 50hrs a week to do it. I am woman hear me roar!! I feel very strong, very in control. But...I cant stop myself from eating too much. I cant control myself around sweets. I just cant. And...it makes all the other things I do seem meager. Eating, and my weight because of it, is my biggest challenge and my biggest shame. I cant control it and it ticks me off! So, I know I need this surgery. I am just scared at times and petrified at others. ugh! I'm determined to change it. Very determined!

    Slow Losers and Real Restiction

I pretty much stayed around the 230 range (pre-band) no matter what I ate. I think that was my body's ever incresing set point. I know that if I eat more than 800 cal a day I will slow down to very slow or no weight loss right now. Since I have not had a fill I don't know what it feels like. Some have restriction without a fill for awhile. I know I don't eat what I used to because but feel like I am dieting. It isn't as hard to stick to it as it was pre-band, however. I do get full quicker.

    Moody moody moody

Yes it is very normal. Many if us go through a second puberty. As we lose weight our fat cells release hormones and those hormone cause us to be moody.

Dating in the Pre\Post WLS mindset

There's a thread about this in Rants & Raves I believe. I have never been attracted to an obese man, and never dated one.. despite what I was! I didn't take my own weight as a factor, and had I actually dated someone who was obese, I wouldn't have thought anything of it.. it just never happened. I don't think you should date any 'type' of person just because you feel an obligation to?

    Dr. Oz

Wow -- I don't know of any medical research that has advocated a lap band for someone with only 40 pounds to lose. I stopped watching his show a long time ago because it's like a big long commercial for the latest and greatest diet pill or weight loss method. He probably got paid to do a lap band segment by one of the companies that make them.
  21. no, actually...i appreciate honesty..whether good, bad, ugly,...etc i actually Do want to lose weight slowly (slow and steady...and continuously haha) i'm ALSO nervous about hanging skin...so i don't wanna rush it too too much. I am able to lose weight, but then i gain it back, and then some..so my mentality is the band can help to prevent the Gaining back, yo-yo crap =) i hope everything goes well for u... i don't know your personal situation, but try not to get discouraged.... slow is not necessarily bad... as long as it's in the right direction =) thanks so much, and best of luck
  22. Just go back to the way your supposed to eat and your baby will be healthy and you will lose weight. As long as your daily intake is 1500 calories or more of healthy foods your milk supply will grow with your baby. You don't need to eat extra you just need to eat enough, stay hydrated and nurse on demand.
  23. I didn't have a required pre-op diet, but I still wanted to try to lose a bit of weight before surgery. That hasn't happened for me. I am trying to look at the positive side which is that I have maintained my current weight since the beginning of December. This seems like an accomplishment because it has been difficult to stay on track and not eat everything in sight!

    Weight lifting questions

I think I waited until about 7-8 weeks but I'm not quite sure since it's been a while. I lift about once a week and lift heavy weights. I'm still sore from my Friday weight lifting session :/
