    I have hit “healthy” BMI, and my loss slowed significantly. Since the end of March I have been hanging around 168. Today I was 166.6. So I’m thinking I was just in a stall. My inches still changed during this period. I’m fine if this is where I land, but In the back of my head, I would like to hit 160.

    4 days post op and feeling so sick

    You just had MAJOR surgery; you can't expect to feel wonderful. It took me about 6 weeks to feel okay, and even then, I had a hard time with the food. You should feel better each day or week. If you start to feel worse, reach out to your surgery center. Hang in there!

    Stalls are very common. The closer to a "normal" weight you get, the more slowly your weight loss will go and the more likely you are to have stalls. You can talk to your nutritionist to make sure you're eating the right number of calories and the right types of food for your body and activity level. You may need to eat more or less or exercise more.

    Feeling irritable

    I'm the same way! I'm 1 week post today and I'm so freaking snappy with my husband . He's been approved but waiting on his date. But has slipped into old eating habits and I snapped on him yesterday. I'm trying so hard to stay on task after surgery and it's like he doesn't even care how much he eats.     Good morning! How are you doing with your pre-op liver shrinking diets? I started mine a day early, I was so excited. (Yes, I'm a wierdo.) So today is officially day 7 for me! I have lost just shy of 10lbs, and managed to not cheat. I won't say it is easy, since I gave up Diet Coke after almost 30 years, and I am working on weaning off caffeine, which is my biggest hurdle. I go for my pre-op testing on Wednesday and then it's just shy of a week until surgery day, YAY! So what are your accomplishments and struggles so far?
  6. which surgery did you have? Have you been like this all along, or is this a new development? Just asking because if you're a bypass patient and if this just started, you could be developing a stricture. You're in the right time frame for it. otherwise, like the above commenter said, maybe your stomach isn't quite ready to progress, so in this case, you'll need to back up and stay at the previous stage for a few more days and try again lastly, lots of people can't handle eggs for the first few weeks or months after surgery - so that could be another reason in any event, I'd let your clinic know what's going on.

    Extreme Esophageal pain after lapband drained

    When I had my fill completely drained, which was about 2 weeks before my band was removed... I could eat normally again, but I never had pain when I ate. But I do remember scenarios like you mentioned in the theater. I remember being at restaurants and having to excuse myself and having to go outside and pace, or run to the restroom to vomit. Lap Bands imo, should have never been approved. They're an epic failure, and in most patients cause more harm in the sense of complications than good. If you're still having pain, I'd ask your surgeon for an EGD. Have you been scoped recently? It seems like a good idea since you're still having pain...

    May 2022 surgery?

    Well I vomited first time this week then 2 more times different days. It was fat free Cottege cheese once and can’t remember the other but I learned that even a couple tablespoons can make you vomit if it’s too much for your tummy and it says noooo more so stop half way before feeling your done eating is the trick for me. yesterday I was hungry for some reason a few times during the day so bites here and there and that worked. the scale started to move ounces down at a time each day again. I’m happy with my progress going down now. Feel like I could be further ahead with the stages but week four and still feel like I should only eat puréed. Tummy hates me. Bored with ninja. Send help. SOS. LOL

    June 2022 surgery buddies

    Hey, I had my surgery on the 3rd June, and I haven't had a bowel movement either. I brought it up with my surgeon and he said it can take 10-14 days to have one. After surgery sometimes our bowel goes to "sleep" and takes a little bit to wake up again. Im going to wait till about the 3 week mark and then will let my surgeon know if I still have not gone. Hope your recovery is going well!
  10. Hi everyone Not sure if theres anyone else out there feeling like this. Im on soft stage so having things like egg/ricotta/spinach baked in oven or egg/ricotta pan fried without oil or little bit cous cous with veges or shepards pie, supposed to have half cup volume but im lucky if i have a whole tablespoon worth, i count 20 seconds between each bite and i get these pains in my chest and back, its unbearable.     Slow weight loss here too. 12.5g loss over 7 weeks but not too fussed about it. It's all downwards.
  12. I needed to smile, thank you. I'm only 8 weeks post op/36 pound loss and I am not a fan of what my butt is looking like at all. Used to be nice and round then gained an extra 50 and it looked awful and now it's looking deflated and awful! Good news is a mommy makeover is an option for me so I try to hold on to that.     I remember those days, of being a single mom with no support. Tough decisions. Thankfully, I do have a vacation time bucket that will cover one week - close to two, by the time of my surgery.

    Over the counter stool softener Colace. If it's really bad senna. You can get senna plus it has colace in it. Senna is a laxative. I normally never constipated, but the increase of protein caused a problem, I now take colace daily and if it gets bad I add the senna. I was not drinking enough fluids . Walking and increasing my fluid intake it's helped. BTW I am week 4. I lost 10lbs the first 2 weeks, nothing of 10 days. They say that we lose water first then as we increase our fluids we are losing inches even though it appears we are not losing weight. I have increased my walking. I have changed up my intake. I don't if that helped or just time as my body adjusted but I lost 4 oz for 3 days in a row then 1lb. It's not much lost 2lbs in 4 days but it's something.

    =Truthfully I would love to take 2wks off but that depends if my fmla/short term disability goes thru. I am a single mom getting no support so my paycheck is all we have. I make enough to keep my daughter and I comfortable. But no paycheck serious problems. If I get denied I will go back in a week. My desk can go from sitting to standing with just a few cranks of the handle.

    My doctor said, "You should be able to go back to work in 3 weeks. Wait, you work from home... You should be able to go back to work in 2 weeks." I'm asking for 3 weeks off, anyway. I'm thinking that I need a buffer, just in case. I can always go back to work early, if I don't need all 3 weeks.
  18. I've been tracking everything I eat in MyFitnessPal for over two years -- since about 5 months before my surgery. For me, this was key in changing my eating habits, both before and after surgery. I don't think it's counting calories, per se, that works, but the fact that it forces me to confront my food choices and get the most bang for the buck, calorie-wise. Constantly budgeting my calories has helped me to shift my food choices to low-calorie but satisfying foods. That's especially important now that I'm almost two years post-op and I can eat pretty decent portions (compared to the first several months post-op when I could only eat tiny quantities). If I weren't choosing low-calorie foods, I think I could easily get enough calories to start gaining the weight back. A lot of people swear by "intuitive eating," and if that works for you, great, but I don't see it working for me. I think my intuition had to be pretty out of whack to get me to 341 pounds. I think it's possible that I've changed my eating habits enough at this point that I could stop tracking and be ok, but I don't want to put that to the test. I eat mostly the same things over and over, so if I stick to that, even without tracking, I would probably stay within the same calorie range. I do have a hard time when traveling or eating at restaurants because it's difficult to guesstimate when someone else is preparing the food, but I very rarely eat at restaurants, so I try not to stress too much over the occasional meal that's not 100% accurate. I've also relaxed a little on weighing and measuring some things because I've gotten a good sense of portion sizes (e.g., half a small avocado is about 50 grams on average; 6 slices of thin-sliced turkey lunchmeat is about 75 grams), and some things are low enough in calories that it's not worth the trouble (e.g., I don't measure salad greens or cucumbers or tomatoes). I like Dr. Weiner's approach of "a pound of cure" (which involves eating at least a pound of vegetables every day) because focusing on eating a lot of vegetables helps me to fill up on foods that are nutritious but low in calories. Every week, I meal prep daily veggie trays (carrots, celery, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, and peppers), and that's my main snack for the day. I also add cauliflower rice to a lot of meals to make them more filling without adding a lot of calories.

    I had the robotic hernia repair and sleeve. Took about four hours. First week recovery was uncomfortable but well managed with the pain meds. Since then, no pain meds even Tylenol. No nausea or vomiting and the incisions are healing very nicely. All in all, I was very gratified with how it went.
  21. Hello, First time poster. I live with health anxiety and I worry all the time that I am going to get some kind of significant weight-related health condition. I decided to look in to weight loss surgery three weeks ago, found a doctor, got set up woth appointments next week. Then last week I had a mammogram that showed something suspicious, so then another mammogram and ultrasound and finally a biopsy on Friday. Perhaps it is nothing but googling the specific words in the ultrasound and mammogram report don’t sound great. I should get the results in the next two days. How ironic would it be to have something significant like this pop up immediately after I finally make the decision to change my health?! I’m so sad and mad. If this does turn out to be breast cancer then does that rule out weight loss surgery completely? Anyone have any knowledge or experience on that? I am trying to remain positive but emotionally I feel like I’ve ruined my life and officially missed the opportunity to get my weight under control and a healthy life back. Any words of advice or shared experiences are much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Food Before and After Photos

    Enjoying a week off work so let the home meals commence! Today’s included feeding beans (a true feat!) to usually reluctant humans. Mine- crispy street style corn tortillas, homemade refried beans, homemade pico, shredded cheese and sour cream I didn’t even need. Theirs were on fajita size flour tortillas as they still balk at corn ones. I was too lazy to calorie calculate homemade refried beans so used what seemed close. Also, all dinner items were $13.44US but there’s tons of leftovers for lunches this week and I’ll end up freezing half the beans for later.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

    Honestly - having studied it scientifically as best I can, I think that stalls just happen randomly and then just end - also randomly. They're part of all significant weight loss journeys. Upping or downing: calories; protein; water; exercise (including type or intensity of exercise) might coincide with a renewed loss but it's not likely to be the cause. Keep doing what you're doing and you will keep losing weight until you're done. Yes, more slowly and then MUCH more slowly, as you approach goal. I've had the same calorie intake for the last 4 months, and more or less the same level of exercise. I'm losing approx 2lbs per week but not at all in a linear fashion. Average it all out, keep on keeping on, and you'll be fine. You'll lose until you stop losing. You have done amazingly well @DaisyAndSunshine

    My weight is also dropping slowly. I had my surgery on May 18 and did a 3-week pre-op diet before that. But I have only lost a total of around 32lbs in 7 weeks. I am not too disappointed though because I have an extremely stubborn body in terms of weight loss. In the past when I went on a diet, no matter how strict I was and how hard I exercised I would not lose weight AT ALL. So at least this slow pace is definitely better than nothing. I will take whatever speed weight loss I can get.
