NSV: People are finally starting to notice my weight loss. It's like one day I get 5 different compliments from different people telling me how great I look! Even though I still struggle "seeing" it myself, my clothes don't lie, and when other people start noticing it makes me feel on top of the world. Being referred to as "skinny" even though I'm far from it, I haven't heard that in 8+ years.

NSVs are hard to come by these days for me, but yesterday it happened. I did 4 hours of yard work. We have about 1.5 acres, and it's been over 3 weeks since we were able to mow (damn rainy weekends in Florida). Anyways, I mowed, trimmed hedges, trimmed our large tree in the front yard, and cleaned out the mulch so I could replace it this year. We have a riding lawn mower and it only takes me about 1.5 hours to mow so that was a breeze. But, all the other stuff was pretty intense. The tree I trimmed was a boogar, and then I drug all the big branches into the bon fire pile. Some of those branches were 4-6 inches in diameter & some of them were about 8-9 feet long, and I trimmed them with a hand saw. The tree was growing into some power lines, and it had to be trimmed before the power company gave us notice. I raked the front yard, and cleaned up all the mulch. The husband got home, and was shocked that I was able to get so much done. He thought I had paid someone to come do everything. I just laughed at him, and told him that I did it all. NSV came when I realized that I was not dying from exhaustion, I wasn't sore from all of the work, and I felt so good that I showered, and went to John's softball game. Pre-op I would have never done all of that without taking several breaks, and being absolutely worn out. I didn't stop for those 4 hours, and was hellbent on getting it all done.

I think I have a few pics, I'll try to add them later on. I do have some awesome new NSV's too. Thank you for your encouraging words

All my years of being married to my hubby, I could never ever fit into his clothes. Now, I can fit his tops, pants and jackets. The only thing I cannot fit is his shoes. I am able to cross leg,sit indian style on the floor and able to get offt he floor with one hand only. Theae nsv are the bomb despite the fact that my scale is not budging. I am down from a 3x to XL and some L and loving it. I still have like 40 piunds to lose and I will take it from there.

Woo Hoo to all of your NSV! Mine this week was, for me, a biggie! The weight on the scale matches the weight on my drivers license!

You know when you had weight loss surgery when..... NSV...You finish jogging on the treadmill at the gym. The person on the treadmill next to you say's thanks for motivating me to stay for an hour. They introduce themselves and you find out they are a high school physical education teacher.

Hey, I just realized a couple NSV! My CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) seems to have disappeared along with the depression. I was going through my old journal, and I was amazed how this has all slipped away. Who would have believed it! It might be that I no longer eat refined carbs (flour/sugar) and am following a healthy regime now. It's like a 180* turn around. I thinks it true, we actually are becoming new people. Maybe that is why others may feel insecure about our weight loss. We are changing to be better version ourselves. Praise be!

NSV today. I dropped my dry cleaner off and the nice lady working there asked me. "Do you mind if I ask you something?" Me "no, go ahead " Her "how much weight have you lost? You look great." I thanked her and continued with my day. This is a drive thru dry cleaner , all she can see is my face ????

Vegas, I also just bought matching bra/panties. My reunion was last night, and I wanted to buy new under garments. They make you feel so pretty, even though nobody else can see them. Well, I found some darn cute matching panties and bras at Fashion Bug for the 1/2 the price at LB's. They are sooo much fun and I am starting to feel attractive again. Oh, and one set is fushia, one is purple, and other teal. I keep them on lingerie hangers because it makes me feel so good to be able to wear these things. LB's 14/16 were too big for me..unbelievable...I never thought that would happen so quickly. Another NSV..went shopping today at Walmart..need some kitty food and just cruised through the Women's dept looking for bargains..I got dirty looks from the women working there..everything was too big for me. Isn't this world funny..when I was a size 22/24 I got dirty looks for being so big, now I get dirty looks for not being that big. I guess we will just have to get used to it. We are going to get so skinny that we are not going to be able to stand it! LOL Oh..and started the recycling pile too. Now the clothes that are too big are cute and actually purchased within the last 3 mos. The clothes I ditched were gross..the elastic was so stretched out on the waistband I had to hold them together with a safety pin..they were polyester, so I couldn't hold a funeral for them, because they wouldn't burn, just would smoke like rubber tires..had to toss them in the dumpster..OH WELL!! LOL

Loving this thread! I think the NSVs might even be more rewarding than the scales because they are tangible. Had my first experience of not being able to put the armrest all the way down on a recent flight because of these bloody hips...SO demoralizing! So I am eagerly awaiting that particular NSV (and many others!), as so many have described. Great job y'all! Happy dance for the NSVs!!

I've had a few NSV... They are almost as good as seeing the scale move down. I can wrap a towel around my body! I am less out breath when I go up the stairs! When someone sits next to me on a bus, I don't feel like I'm taking up all the room! Woo hoo!

(Sort of) an NSV for me... 15 days post-op, down 18 pounds; 83 total in 5 months. I met a guy on match.com shortly before surgery and today we finally were able to have our first date. (He knows I had surgery but not what kind.) So guess what we did on our "date"... went SWIMMING!!! Yes, I was in a bathing suit on a first date with a guy!!! I was freaked out but he's been so complimentary of me it quickly faded. I can still wear my old bathing suits but it was nice not to have my belly peak out between my top and bottom. And I have complained about my boobs shrinking but now they actually FIT into the top and look perky and round instead of falling out all over the place! Big win for Kelly today!

My latest nsv happened a couple of days ago flying from New Orleans to Atlanta before flying home to the UK - and fitting in the seat to the extent that my arms were inside the armrests! I wasn't anywhere near the man next to me. Whoo hoo! And, despite the heat in NO, it was my first holiday where I wasn't a greasy blob for the duration. Another whoo hoo!

Buying a dress online that was smaller than last summer AND having to return it for a smaller size because it was too big when it arrived. And ordering a lab cost in a much smaller size than last year and being able to button it all the way up! Clothing changes seem to be the biggest NSV at the moment.

I think it has been close to 2 years since I posted an NSV. The jeans that started out as comfortably snug and progressed to sausage casing and finally unwearable are now comfortably snug again and the bra that started out as overflowing, became empty requiring "chicken cutlets" and then verged on overflowing again, now fits reasonably. yay for small victories.

Summer NSV! Had a great day with family and friends on the Boise river today. We rented innertube's to float the river. The park staff called my name to pick up my equipment. He handed me a child's life jacket to wear. He said the adult size would not fit me.

NSV, when both of you can fit comfortably in the bathtub again!

I love these nsvs! -
Well, I guess I'm the only one still posting around here, but, here goes. I went to someone's house today and we were standing in the yard when the gent offered me a chair. It's one of those sling style chairs where there is a frame and then fabric to hold you up. I declined the chair out of fear that I'd break it. When I said as much, he told me he'd pick me up if that happened. That's the second NSV, a man offered to pick my big butt up! LOL The first NSV is that I sat in that chair, comfortably, for about 35 minutes and it didn't even creak or groan! YAY ME!!

NSV shout outs

Tiffy: that was a great NSV. I had posted but not in this place. So sorry if you all havealready read this but here goes. Friday after thanksgiving we were going togo to the show and meet friends after. I had to try on 8 different things to find one thing that was acceptable. Then on Saturday I was wearing just my regular jeans and top and I was working in the kitchen and walking back and forth to the dinning room (putting stuff away) any way hands full and all my pants started sliding down. Now, get a mental picture of this please, my hubby is up on a step ladder putting the bowls and large platters away for me and here I come with my arms full and there go my pants! I am trying to do the legs wide apart so they don't fall off, and so I am just waddling. histerical. just crazy fun. After the moments (several) had passed, my hubs said I was to go shopping and get some pants that are tight. Tight enough to last until the next stage. He is sure a believer now in the sleeve. So, walking out of your pants is fun. I laughed so hard and long my sides still hurt on Sunday. Sunday when I went and got 2 new pairs of pants. Hubby said good thing I was not wearing thoes jeans when we went out last night! duh! Glad you had a great time with your Hubs too. Thoes moments lead to such great celebratory fun. heehee turtles and blondes: you get us on our backs and we are both screwed. -

Sitting in one of my summer classes and it has the old style desks from high school where the desk is tiny and is attached to the chair. Before I squished into them. Now I can sit normal, even cross my legs and see my thighs easy. Totally roomy. It's awesome! ! Totally an nsv that I didn't expect!! -
Hi everyone - great to catch up on all your news (I've been mostly without access to the internet while in Scotland). Tammy - so glad you found us again! I had the same problem so I've "bookmarked" our group. Sorry about your weight fluctuation - in my own experience, exercise has been more of a factor in my weight loss than just what I'm eating. Good luck! You can do it! Deanna - what a huge difference - you look amazing! Erin - you look fantastic too - I can't believe you've still got 25 lbs to go - you'll be downright "skinny" I had a lovely visit with Claire - she's exactly as positive, kind and supportive as you would imagine from her posts - and she looks great. I loved a comment that she made - she said we are "melting downwards" (maybe a British thing?) - it's true! - we've both lost lots of weight in our faces, shoulders, arms etc. Can't wait for the "melting" to reach my belly!! (We're both still "apples") In fact, Claire has lost so much weight from her face that it was her yellow VW Bug I recognized - not her Change that picture, Claire! We had so much in common - not just WLS - and her husband is a sweetheart - hope to see them again soon. Lots of NSV's on my trip - no seat extension on the plane (in fact I had to tighten my belt!); easily got in and out of the back of my brothers tiny car; walked everywhere without difficulty etc. My mother lives in the city of Glasgow so I took the train or bus "into town" to go shopping several times and walked for hours around the pedestrian precincts checking out the latest styles, visiting large book stores etc. So much fun - I was really "chuffed" with myself. And I lost weight over the past few weeks - despite having my fish and chips, sausage roll and haggis (yes haggis!), I've finally entered "Onederland". Still got a ways to go but I'm feeling so positive - it's definitely worth it. Glad to be home - missed my hubby!

Nsv for me was going back to my hometown yesterday I'm only 12 days out but down about 50-60 from my all time high. Everywhere I went people told me how good I looked and how proud of me they were. It felt awesome and was motivating! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
