Hey guys! Kinda quiet around here...guess that means we are all keeping active and busy! I wanted to share that I had a NSV today. I was looking in my closet trying to find a pair of size 20 jeans to wear today, but I didn't have any. I was bummed about not having anything to wear--again! I took a pair of 17/18 jeans just to see how tight they were, and they FIT!!! I couldn't believe it! I have still been wearing the size 24 shorts that Juli gave me before Disney. I knew they were too big now, but I didn't want to spend money on anything new...I just about fell over when these jeans fit! Hope everyone is doing well! I miss ya and I am going to try to make it this weekend!

    working out=hungrier

OR but have to hold myself accountable. I have been feeling discouraged since I haven't been losing the lbs like I thought I would. I have had some nsvs though so that is motivating me a little. But the past week has been a bad week food wise. ( I haven't hit my green zone yet so I don't have a ton of restrictions) start my support classes on Thursday. So hopefully that will help. I have definitely noticed that I have been a lot hungrier since I have been running regularly. I know Protein and Water will help curb hunger. But it isn't enough to stop me, the hunger is still there. Does anyone know how long this will last? Or have any other advice how to curb this hunger?

Yes I did run yesterday. More than normal because I wanted to watch the whole American Idol results show while at the gym. So I ran 2.5 miles and walked probably another half a mile or more. Felt great. Yesterday I was in the kitchen trying to entertain my 2 year old as he was whining in the high chair. I started doing jumping jacks which he loved. I kept doing them and realized they were surprisingly easy. I kept going until I had done 50 of them and could have kept going for another 50 I think. Very cool NSV.

GOOD MORNING! Hi Tap, I'm always around. Well most of the time. I just don't have much to report on. Well, here's a bit of an NSV you all might want to hear about. I haven't worked a Friday since early November of last year. The reason is our State is in financial crisis. I've always already gotten every other Friday off, however with us having two Furlough days off per month it just worked out to where I hadn't worked one in a very long time. Now my Dept has been exempted during our most busy time. I work for Emergency Services so it makes good sense. Anyway, to Celebrate I decided to bring with me a dozen (very fresh) donuts, some bran muffins and orange juice. Everyone chowed down on the donuts, but the bran muffins havent been touched! ROFL!! Well, this brings me to my NSV. Even though I put out the money for the donuts I didn't have NOT ONE! Besides that, so many other Depts around me brought goodies too. They even made waffles in the Directors Office and was invited to get some if I wanted. Did I? NOOOOO!!!! So, that's my story of the day! Have a nice weekend all!!!

Congratulations on your weight loss! I had my bypass in May and I'm down 45 pounds from when I had the surgery. I just dug out a bunch of shorts in smaller sizes that I haven't fit into in years and was so excited that they fit. My own personal NSV was being able to get into a kayak without plopping down like Pooh Bear, ha, ha.

Congratulations on your loss so far. Awesome NSV and good excuse to enjoy more concerts and festivals. Gotta build up that wardrobe.

Here here! I can't wait until Tuesday. I'm thinking about taking my camera so I can get a picture of what it looks like to get a fill... if they will let me. I'll play it by ear and see how it goes. Was wondering for the Feb/March bandster buddies if you've encountered any food at all before your first fill that you couldn't get down or had trouble with? I haven't but I have not done anything 'stupid' either like eat something obviously doughy or stringy. I do recommend the cedar planked grilled tilapia at O'Charley's - had that last night and 1/2 of my dinner salad and a few bites of my baked potato and that was really satisfying and the fish is lean and has lots of Protein. I'll definitely try that again when I think I could handle it with restriction. Seebs -- yes, I got over the idea of just leaving the rest of the fish and salad and having them take it away to throw it away because I knew I'd enjoyed what I had and the leftovers wouldn't be good. That is a NSV for me. Greg - yep, not gaining but losing has slowed to a crawl so I am totally with you on bring on the saline!

Hi Shonda! You look great, as always J Hope you had a great time. Tap, good deal on the challenge with your Hubby. I know that always gets me ready to move it. That might be just what you need to get you over that finish line! SHM, just start slow. Take it easy, but even 20 minutes a day is better than not doing anything at all. We’re all here for you! Ezma, welcome back to the fight! I know you can do it. One things for sure, if I can get back in the program, anyone can. I was out for the count for a long time. As for my self I’m pretty positive I’m going to get a small fill tomorrow. I can eat way too much. I was back up to 251.5 this morning. L I think some of it just might be water, so I’m going to be extra good and flush all day. I even lost my equilibrium a bit this morning while I was getting in my car to go to work. I think my ear might be a little plugged. I checked my blood pressure and it was fine. But, here is a little NSV I enjoyed… while I was checking the blood pressure I noticed the cuff was too big! I’m graduating to a medium cuff now. No Large, No Extra Large. Just a nice normal size cuff. LOL! Who would have ever imagined that would make someone so happy? On the good side I have been blowing through my workouts. I stayed on my elliptical for 80 minutes. I did a first 15 minutes until some company came over, but after they left I finished up with an additional 65 minutes. WOW!! I felt so tired and could barely walk but hey… I did it! I get to do my walk today too since I’m at work. I’m just going to do some muscle toning tonight though. Not a lot of cardio. Ok then, talk soon! Hope everyone has a great day. J

Blessed Twice - It is great to see you again! I know you must be facing new challenges every day - but the fact that you are doing so well says you can do it!! 153 pounds is great - is that your target, or just a stop on the weightloss journey?? Size 10 - YAY you! I know all about the exercise challenges - bah humbug! YAY on the NSV! And you're right - it isn't about a number. It is where you are happy and feel good about yourself. I know my doc still thinks that I, at 5'5" and big-boned, should strive for 117 - 125...but I think it just isn't going to happen. And frankly, I'm not sure how I would look at that weight. However, I am going to the clinic next week and shall have another wee chat about it and the reflux I am starting to have. HLori - mother of a teenager...that only lasts for 9 years!!!:Banane56::laugh: I know what you mean about fighting the 150's - just keep the faith...exercise (says she who is ignoring that same thing) and eating right. And yes everyone - just keep swimming!!! Have a great weekend...
  11. Grats to all of you. Tap - A size 8? Wow! What a truly wonderful NSV. That's gotta help motivate you. Yay. Enjoy your trip. SLG - Way to go! You have to be just glowing. I think that's even better than the losing 100 pounds mark. Shiny - I bet it feels so good to be losing a good chunk of weight again. I know you were fighting up and down for a while. Keep it up. Nicole - Glad to hear your surgery went well. Hope this helps you to be more comfortable and to get enough nutrition to keep up your running pace. I think I'd be scared to death without the band. Did you really feel hungry right away? Well, I know you can handle it. You've done really, really well with the program.

Congratulations on all of your successes!!! You look fabulous!! It's evident from all your new found activities like you're enjoying your new life. Awesome!!! What can I add that all our other BP friends haven't already said I agree with them all. Yes, considering the circumstances, even the change in your marital status is a NSV. His loss. I'll look forward to future updates and your race results in October. Keep on keeping on!!

    Pants, smants

Well today is a lovely day. My jeans...the ones I have been wearing for a few years...at least the size of jeans anyway (they never last that long because my thighs rub holes in them!!!)...have been getting really loose on me. I have one pair I can wear for about an hour before they just fall off. Which is really fantastic. So this morning I reach into my closet and pull out this pair from Maurice's that my mom bought me awhile back. And I took a DEEP breath. Then slowly, one foot then leg at a time, I pulled them on. They went up my legs(and didnt get stuck BEFORE my hips), then they went OVER my hips, then glory be...THEY BUTTONED!!!! I couldnt believe it. AND not only did they button, they were not tight ANYWHERE!!! I could grab excess fabric in my butt area and my thighs!!! These jeans were a pair I couldnt even get over my hips a few months ago. A full size smaller than the ones I had been wearing. And Maurices at that!! I think they run small!! (ok my experience, but that is what I am sticking to telling myself). What a great NSV!!!!! (because I needed it...no weight loss this week), but I will take the full size smaller, and I WILL ROCK IT!!!!

    December's Chat

Good Afternoon! I have been baking Cookies all day long, I am getting ready to clean up and put things away. I have to admit that today things went well! Cindy - I agree, I don't want my band too tight. It sounds like you are doing great with this fill! Have fun on a unexpected day off! I wasn't cracking up about the Protein bar riding with you just in case, I was cracking up because of you thinking to take protein! Now be serious, before you were banded what would you have grabbed? Patty - Sorry to hear your day went so bad, hang in there it gets better. You are probably getting a good case of the nerves! Sorry about the job! Eileen - Yes, I am feeling much better, thanks for asking. Right now though a good hot bath would feel real good! Not that I need it ( I have so much sugar on me) but my feet hurt from standing all day! Hmmmm, come to think of it that is a good NSV, last year I would not have stood all day, the chair would have been holding my butt up! When did you say you start your vacation? Jan - Hope you don't catch that cold! Boost up your Vitamin C's! Beanie - Did you get the stuff all in the mail? Is it time for me to cross everything? Zan - Where are you today? Hope you are tied up in cold weather. Last night it took my DH 2 hours to get home from Dallas. Usually it is a 30 minute trip at the longest, needless to say he wanted a beer the minute he walked in the door! Well, going to go take a break before it is time to cook supper. Later!

    NSV for me!

    OK- I started exercising with Turbo Jam a little over a month ago. (and I am totally addicted) I have not lost a single pound since April 14th (still at 195) but I have lost a total of 10" in this period of time. 10 inches! That brings my total inches lost since surgery date to 30 1/2 inches. Two and a half feet of volume gone forever! I'm pumped. Measurements 9/14/05 vs. 4/18/06 vs. 5/24/06 bust: 47 1/2 ---> 43 ---> 42 (-5 1/2) chest: didn't measure in the beginning ---> 40 1/2 ---> 38 (-2 1/2 with turbo jam) waist: 48 ---> 39 ---> 35 (-13) hips: 51 ---> 45 1/2 ---> 43 (-8) thigh: 28 ---> 25 ---> 25 (-3) arm: 15 ---> 14 1/2 ---> 14 (-1) I started out a size 22W, and I have gone from a size 16 to a 14 in just the last month.

Yes. The lower your BMI gets and the closer you get to goal the more your body will try to hold on to the fat. Just keep doing what you are doing. Maybe look for NSV's instead.
  18. YAY!! Great NSV!!!)))) it is just stuff like these that keeps ensuring us how great we are doing!! WAY TO GO and congrats!!! thanks for sharing and drawing a smile on our faces:)

    Where are the 50s ???

Okay, I have to give a shout out for my newest NSV!!!!! I have never been in favor of exercise (my favorite Bible verse is "Bodily exercise profiteth little..." lol - not really!) But, at 2 years out things have to step up to keep my new body/health in check. So I bought a bike and started riding several days a week 2-3 miles and today, I DID A WHOLE 30 MINUTES ON THE ELLIPTICAL! Now, that is BIG for me! ha! Anyway, I have seen a real change just by increasing exercise and lowering carbs. Fight the good fight, 50's!!!! Peace.
  20. NSV today: Went shopping at NY& Co. And passed right by Lane Bryant! The first time shopping there in ten years. Fit a pair of size 16 short shorts and they are so cute and sexy!!!!

    August surgery buddies!

Doing well. Down 40 lbs already. From highest weight. 30 from day of surgery. Almost 2 months out. Feeling better every day! NSV yesterday, went to a football game and very comfortably fit in the seat. I was nervous the whole ride there!
  22. I Am Enough!

    August surgery buddies!

Sorry I haven't been on much lately but I had a setback and have been really taking it easy. About my 5th post-op I kept getting really bad wrenching cramps in my abdomen under my incisions. They sent me for a CT scan with the blue contrast dye and all that fun stuff. Come to find out I had a gas bubble in my pouch. Plus they had given me heartburn medicine to take for a month, but the directions weren't clear so I had not been taking it. Come to find out that the omeprazole (sp) was there to help with any kind of gas and whether or not I had heartburn. Once I started taking that again, the cramps went away and I could heal. I was so scared I had done something wrong and messed up my surgery. Definitely not fun! But I'm down almost 40 pounds since I started this journey. I had a NSV yesterday - I was able to walk up the stairs in my home without feeling winded! What kind of non-scale victories have you had recently?
  23. LookingForward22

    August surgery buddies!

Congrats on the NSV!!! I’m looking forward to watching those sizes drop!! I’m not sure if it’s normal or not (the winded part) but those deep breaths are still pinching a little (I’m assuming muscle spasms and tightness). I’m still using my spirometer they sent home and trying to take long slow deep breaths throughout the day to keep my lungs strong. My guess is as the muscles and Internal healing take place those deep breaths will get easier.

    December Bandsters

hi ladies - Nat - yes I was also very dry and kept feeling like I was catching a cold - which by now I think I would have caught - its been a week! I'm still blowing the boogers - and the cough - was it you who asked? well thats good, a cough clears the lungs of all the anthesia, and I also would think that the little bit of blood was just from the tube or being dry. I was soooooo dry mouthed after the surgery I never felt like I'd rehydrate again. Sweethot - nice to hear from you hon! I never had a pump either, but they gave me shots of it in the iv whenever I asked. I'm not a pillpopper normally and I think I have a high pain tolerence because I only took liquid tylenol 2-3 times, I never fill the script from doc. I never have pain now - now I itch. All around my incisions - itchy itchy itchy - think I'm gonna call dr to see if I can put some hyrocoritizone...(sp? lol ) cream on or around them. Support groups are good - I only went once pre-op - last month - and there were a few banded but most are waiting to be banded. BC/BS local is highmark and they haven't approved the band here so they are all fighting it. I guess my doc is quite the advocate, the lady who had surgery with me said he fought it for 14 months - and used his own lawyers! Not sure thats norm or not but dang he's cute!!! - (Steph <---- still crushing doc Marley) Back to support groups - tonight is one and we are to bring a holiday dish (so I guess it kinda a Christmas party) I'm making sf lime Jello, sf strawberry jello, with coolwhip FREE - I thought I would layer it in a clear glass bowl so it looks all christmassy and pretty. I can actually eat it too - its part of the liquids. Nat you should go - don't worry about fat guy from work - LOL - you're too dang funny!!! I love ya! If he is there just say hey and tell him you'd really like to keep it quiet that you've had the surgery. He might lose the weight and come back as Erik on the biggest loser - omgoodness!!! Who'd have thought such a hunk was inside there? Ok - so a small nsv - when I saw Charlie yesterday he said he can see the weight loss in my face - yippeeeee! Hubby always says I lose in my face first - scale it telling me 15lbs so far - but 8 of it was pre-op and btw did I tell you when I went to doc to look at my incisions (cuz my tape came off 3 days out) I was only down 5 lbs? Yeah I was like WTF - as Nat would say.. lol ... but it must do with the procedure, PA said they don't normally weigh until 2 weeks. I'm not changing my ticker until I get on the dr's scale. mystique - I haven't said hi for a while - hi - sounds like you're doing good. I'm still using the heating pad for my shoulder - its getting better everyday. kari - I was tired alot too - and then on Sunday - 6 days out I finally got over it. Ok tv viewers - why is there nothing on tv interesting during the day? I don't even bother flipping through 400 channels anymore - and what about reading? Anyone read a book lately? I am a BIG reader - like a book a week or more - and I haven't been able to focus on reading since a month before surgery. Do you think its just the excitement of being banded? My only reading comes from LBT. Love ya girls!

Let's get to know each other!

Where are you from? What surgery did you have? When did you have surgery? (Only if you want to answer) How much weight loss? Favorite Protein food? Hardest food to eat? Biggest NSV (non-scale victory) so far? One interesting fact about yourself?
