Todays plan is pretty much the same as yesterday. I did not get the elliptical done last night. We make one large shopping run every month. and then only get fresh produce here and there. I wanted to get that done before the first of the month. So I met Jen and the boys and helped her. We ate at Arbys and it went good. I did not have any time to elliptical last night. 40 minutes elliptical tonight. I substitute an apple for a greek yogurt. Other than that same lunch!.

Not sure what got a hold of me yesterday, food poisoning or a stomach bug but whatever but it was , was horrible. Trying not to push myself too much today. Yesterday I managed to get 56oz of Water in. Food plan, well I didn't eat much at all. Weighed myself this morning and 3lbs gone for the week. Most of that I'm sure was from yesterday so I'm not sure how much of that is "real" but I'll take it and run with it for today. 1 more lb. to go to be back at my pre vacation weight!!!:-) Todays plan I'm honestly playing it by ear. B: Yogurt with trail mix. Water 80oz

Good challenge. It will be tough today for me since we've got snow and I won't be walking at lunch. But I'll try to get the three miles in somehow after work. Had a good weekend but I'm bummed out because I expected a loss and had a gain. I did drink with my meal yesterday when company came (dumb) and I had dessert. So I'm not shocked, just disappointed. I really thought the week of walking would override that but it didn't. It also didn't override the snacking on nuts I did nearly every day last week. Today I'm not going to snack and I will focus on low calorie choices and zero crap. I started with yogurt and have boiled eggs planned for lunch. I sent most of the leftovers home with the company yesterday so I won't be tempted by Pasta and sweets. dinner will be beef and salad. Stressful week ahead with divorce crap. Not gonna eat over it. Nope. Not gonna do it.

i have struggled with upping my water. i am getting more than the 64oz easily. i drink more water before 9am than most do all day. !ha! but seriously, i do, butmy goal is to drink a gallon and a half. it has been really really hard. the workout i do before the kids wake up. i try not to eat before i work out so that i can burn fat, not food calories. then i am famished for breakfast and have a nonfat yogurt and cereal. where my weaknes lies is wanting bread. sugar doesn't bother me. but holy heck i want some sourdough bread. it is killin me!!! this week i am going to try for a perfect week on the bread. i think i can i think i can.

can you eat a whole cup of yogurt?
TheNewSleevedJulie replied to abarta83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 12/30 and I was able to eat at least 3/4ths of the yogurt cup. The thing is since it's so soft it goes right through. Imagine cutting yourself off at a cup of water. I guess everyone's different and it might even change -
Do you really think you'd be able to eat more than just one cookie now? Perhaps that is all your stomach could handle now. I totally get that you don't want to even go there because it was a trigger food for you. I was only 2-1/2 weeks out from my surgery when my sister had a 30th birthday party for my nephew. I brought my lunch bag with me so I could bring a greek yogurt, some applesauce, and a couple other options that I was okay to eat. There was some fabulous food there, but I had to sit and look at all of it while the rest of the party goers were eating. I did okay. Was I envious? Absolutely! But, I got through it because I knew what would happen if I ate even a small nibble. Do I think I'll never ever be able to "taste" some of the stuff that was there again? No. And that is what I tell myself. You cannot have that now, but perhaps somewhere down the line a little taste will be okay. I may not even like it anymore. My tastes have changed so much since surgery.

Sleeved 8/23/16 - HW 271.5 (4/16) SW 246.9 CW 205.1 From size 20-22 pants to size 14-12 right now. About 50 pounds to goal. If you are not already using it, use My Fitness Pal and track every ounce of food and Water that goes into your body. It keeps you honest. I weigh myself daily. (Some people do weekly but I find daily keeps me honest.) Make sure you have healthy options in the house so you never have to be looking around for a snack. Try different kinds of Protein powders now in the small sample sizes to see which ones you like or don't like and start experimenting with shakes. Pre-surgery for three months I did a Protein shake every morning for Breakfast -- and worked on playing with flavors, fruit, coffee-house syrups, etc. Start exercising - walk around the block, swim, join a gym. move your body and schedule time for it. Plan rewards for various weight goals -- 25 pounds - new lipstick? 50 pounds - new dress? Start a private pinterest board with fashions you want to try as you get thinner Research thrift and consignment shops in your area - you are going to need them. If you don't have a good scale, buy one. (I have a Withings, which sends my weight directly to My Fitness Pal. Consider purchasing a fitness tracker. (I use a Garmin Vivosmart HR and love it. I think it's much better than the Fitbit models.) Get your head in the right place - the surgery isn't going to solve any problem you may have with emotional eating - if that's part of your issue, get help now - work with a therapist or other counselor. Get a good pair of sneakers. Start by walking a little more now. Park 15 spaces away from the grocery store this week. 25 spaces next week. It's all incremental. Protein is your friend. Start counting your grams of protein. After surgery, your rules will likely be protein first, everything else after. I average 60-90 grams of protein a day and I eat about 800 calories a day now. Oikos Triple Zero Greek Yogurt and Fairlife Skim Milk are your friends. I'm at the point now where I can eat anything, even bread, but I don't. Sometimes I'll have half a slice of whole wheat toast. Barilla makes a high protein Pasta (yellow box) which is really good. Once you get a surgery date, find a group here on BP to chat with that are all having surgery in the same month. Attend your hospital or clinic's support group meetings regularly. Best of luck with finding the new you. I wish I had done this 15 years ago.

Lisa, you're not alone and you're not the only one struggling. Take a breath. You've been through a lot with your son lately. It's devastating to watch someone you love suffer. Your posts always make me think and always point me to something in my life I need to see too. When I don't see you posting as often it means you must be off trying to handle it all on your own. For me that doesn't work. I find success when I reach out. So let's grab this thing by the horns and beat it back. I've had several weeks of losing and gaining the same five pounds. Why? I want to eat what I want and drink wine whenever I want. That got me really far didn't it? Today I had yogurt for Breakfast because I forgot that all my Protein shakes were At work. Then deli meat and cheese for lunch. Now Soup and a salad for dinner. I commit to no more food after this dinner and no wine tonight. I'm off to an OA meeting as well. I got my stairs in at work and guess what. For today that is my imperfect day and that's just fine.

December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??
sandybraman replied to loretta\ Baconton Georgia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much blue for the explanation about the phrenic nerve. I thought I had a muscle spasm - I've had to put heat on it the last 2 nights - because eating or drinking doesn't seem to affect it as much as when I get tired. I'm 8 days out from my surgery and, like you, have bounced between a BMI of 20-35 for the last 20 years. I feel great (except for my neck), but not graduating to "mushies" until next week. Can't wait! In the meantime, I'm eating plenty of Soup (a can of Campbell's chicken Noodle pureed in the blended and then thinned out just a little tastes really good), cottage cheese and Greek yogurt. Thanks for the heads up about Carnation Instant Breakfast - I can't seem to drink the Protein shakes because they really screw up my digestive system. It is so great that we have all of this support - I am in awe of your power walking (getting on the treadmill after this). I'll tell you, though, like I told my sister last month - that's what you get for nursing! LOL! -
Baby..oh Baby!!
Tiffykins replied to ichefmastersgirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Some people add the unflavored protein to Soups, the yogurts, etc. Honestly, I didn't even worry about protein. I didn't get it in on a consistent basis until I hit mushies. It's not ideal, but it's what I had to do to stay hydrated. You can add sugar free pudding mix (the powder) to greek yogurt. The white chocolate or cheesecake flavor tastes fabulous. -
Thanks for the thoughts and encouragment!! I guess there's not too mant ways to combine yogurt & cottage cheese. I have invented "cream cheese" by mixing herbs & spices with plain yog, then draining it with cheesecloth. I used Costco's spicy spaghetti seasoning dill, but there must be a thousand different flavours you can make. I'll try something sweeter next time. The anesthetic bit scares me - I hate going under, it's like dying. Four days to go!

Nykee, Please read: YOUR BAND IS TOO TIGHT! YOUR BAND IS TOO TIGHT! YOUR BAND IS TOO TIGHT! You need to get some of your saline removed. You will not succeed if you do not eat solid Protein. The band is designed to create satiety when the upper pouch is filled with solid protein and this gives you the illusion you are full with smaller quantities. Take this information from someone who has been banded for 2 years and 3 months and lost 90% of my excess weight so far. ME!! I have never been too tight that I couldnt drink in the mornings or eat a small Breakfast of yogurt or cottage cheese or a mushy egg. Besides the more you are able to eat earlier in the day, the less hungry you will be at night when your band is wide open. Do you honestly think you are alone or unique with less restriction in the evening? Guess again. I am wide open at night and thats when I am most likely to cheat and eat garbage food. I keep lots of protein at my finger tips like string cheese, leftover dinner meat, some nuts. I also keep calorie friendly Snacks close at hand like sugar free yogurt, 60 calorie pudding snacks, 94% fat free popcorn, Jello, weight watchers cake (if I get desperate), 100 calorie snack packs of oreos or graham crackers. I also drink lots of hot tea first and if I am still hungry, then I have a piece of 35 calorie wheat bread with some SS jam on it to make me feel like a human. I allow myself at least 150-200 calories of snacks in my daily caloric allocation to ensure that I dont die of hunger in the evenings, even though I know most of it is head hunger anyway. Everything Megan and Shelly have told you is true. And add my reitteration and new information to your list of what makes a successful bandster. Being too tight so you cant swallow your own saliva in the morning is ludicrous. Banding is not about deprivation. It is about finally getting some satiety with smaller portions so you can lose weight. It is about making wiser food choices cause you are not hungry all the time. PLEASE LISTEN to those who know what they are talking about and have been successful with the band. Babs in TX 334/18-/170 -154

Day 2 pre-op....i have barely eaten anything....only about half of a big yogurt container....i dont really want to eat anymore (yogurt that is). The only thing i hunger for is i'm really craving a subway sub....jeez this is so hard. -
Hi Ailbhe, I didn't go on a pre-op diet I was just told no alcahol for 48hrs before the op. It would depend on your bmi if you are above 45 it might be useful to go on the milk diet for a couple of weeks before surgery, what this does is it reduces your liver size and makes it easier for the surgeon to access your stomach. As for the last supper, there is no such thing, for the first week it will be difficult to eat (in my case the first three days:redface:), you will be able to eat fairly normally once the swelling starts to come down, and thats within the first week. I was told to eat a lot of protein in the first week post surgery, to aid healing. This was achieved by eating yogurts, low fat custard, rice puddings and slim fast or any good protein drink. It wasn't difficult to do this as I didn't really feel like proper food although as I said earlier I did have a few sneaky dips into my hubby's plate from about day three. This is the week when you will have your optimum weight loss. And in most cases it stays off and some people will even lose a little bit more before their first post op app. For most people and you just have to look back on this thread, we are begging for a fill by the first appointment. So don't worry about "the last supper" there is'nt one. Stock up on some low fat custard and rice pudding portions and some soup and protein drinks and also yogurts. Make things easy for yourself for the first week post op by having little or nothing to do. Accept any help thats offered and take it easy. The best of luck and do keep posting.

Yes, more restriction DOES help. I just basically looked at my lunch today and got full. I just hope it sticks with me this time. I seem to be hungrier though at night and have to resist the urge to go and munch. I've been eating key lime pie yogurt from yoplait. It is a pretty good dessert.

I sometimes mix a TBSP into my 6oz container of plain Chobani yogurt add a few splendas and you have peanut butter fluff...yum.. I usually do it if I'm wanting sweet and sometimes I stick it in the freezer for a little bit which makes it sort of like ice cream.

Hey Diamond, I am praying right now for God to keep His arms around you as you continue through the process. And, we all know if He is for you, who can be against you? I'm noticing a difference now in my weight. I stayed stuck for a while there, but now I am seeing the scales go down! I'm also seeing a big difference in what I'm eating. I'm not doing too well with meats, I force them down, but they are not always comfortable. I'm eating more yogurt and spinach and taco bell's pintos and cheese. Can still handle salad ok. Drinking protien shakes and eating Protein bars for my snack. I'm having to remind myself its snack time, don't feel hungry that much either. I'm trying to eat five small times a day to boost my metabolism. I surely can tell a big difference since my last fill. When I go back at the end of this month, I am sure that I will tell the doctor I don't need any more fills for now. I am happy where I am. It is a little dissapointing not to be able to eat meat like I used to, but this is what I asked for, and I am so thankful to finally be seeing the results I wanted. Now if I could just make myself start excercising!!! That's what I need prayer for! thanks everyone. Hope you all have a good day and a good weekend!

Dr. Aaron Hoffman - Lap Band done in Buffalo, NY (Dr. Hoffman)
BigGurlX replied to loraine's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Could you do jello the first 10 days or was that too solid? What did she say about yogurt and pudding? Are you able to do those? Orange juice and bananas sound yummy to me! Blend them up like a smoothie and a little vanilla yogurt to it to make it taste more like a creme cycle:tongue_smilie: Why not buy the chicken soup and beef soups with the clear broth...strain them and just have the broth. Even go to the Chinese resturaunt and other the egg drop soup and strain it.. Or that dumpling soup and remove the dumplings. -

I'm not eating solid food.. I said soups, yogurt, applesauce. My Dr allows what they calls a slip & slide diet. Anything that easily slips through a funnel is ok -
That was the pre August plan with my Surgeon that I was looking forward too. Now it is just light yogurt, refried beans, ricotta cheese, and cottage cheese 5'10 Sleeved 9/25/17 HW: 309 SW: 278 CW: 255 GW: 190
