    Having trouble with vitamins

My doctor will not allow me to take my vitamins until, two weeks out.
  2. I had my sleeve done 2.15.2017 in Mexico with Dr. Cabrera. I feel great and had NO complications. I have lost 21 lbs in 3 weeks.
  3. New to this site! Had surgery 5/12/14. Feel pretty great. Woke up feeling good much better than I thought I would:) been getting all 70g of protein in lost 10 pounds! Over all feel amazing! Today was a lil sore which is unusual. Had to take a pain pill today which is a first since I left hospital. Thinking I may have just walked too much. At least I hope:) see dr. Tomorrow for my first visit!

    Evening sweet tooth

I had a couple of bad choice days earlier this week, but it turned out being a good thing because I had just had dental work done and a temporary crown put in and the sugar from the chocolate I ate hurt my tooth like hell, so I have no desire for chocolate now
  5. Hi numby2017, I am just a bit ahead of you at 5 weeks today. At 10 days I was able to get alot of liquids, Soup and yogurt in. I thought the surgery was a fail. Now on soft food, I feel a pressure, that's when I know to stop or the food will come up. I rarely can eat more than a couple ounces of food and liquids are even going down slowly now. Surgery was a complete success, although, I have wicked head hunger. Good luck! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App
  6. I just started my liquid diet a few days ago. My cousin said she will follow my diet for 10 weeks to lose weight. More power to her! I wouldn't have the motivation to do this if it wasn't not for surgery. Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App
  7. They don't check my levels until three months out so I'm not there yet but my Dr has seen nothing but good results with patients on them. I'm also on another forum and there are many using the patches with success.
  8. For the past several weeks I have been throwing up more often. I have terrible burning in my throat. I have eaten slowly, less portions, ect. I do not know if this is acid reflux or what. I am becoming quite concerned because I do not want to eat anything anymore. I have notified my doc and they set me up for a UGI test. I did the test and my band has not slipped, thank God. But at this point I do not know what to do. Maybe just get some fluid out? What are good OTC acid meds to take? My surgeon is 6hours away and I haven't gotten the help/advice i expect from them. I know I'm not supposed to be throwing up at all so I'm kind of frazzled by this. Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Food

I was sleeved 5/14 and I'm back on puree b/c my tummy didn't like softs when I tried them this past week. I went to my son's baseball tourney all day yesterday(my first all day outing since surgery) and I was sitting around all the parents eating snack shack foods..soft pretzels, bbq, burgers & hot dogs, nachos...it was tough, but I stayed focused on my son and the game and I made it through.

    Help

I am 7 weeks post op and I got my first fill 1 week ago 3cc). I ate 10 wings and a small salad today I am full but I thought I would not be able to eat as much. I am really concerned because I am not sure if this band works or maybe I have stretched it out (if that's possible). I am currently 260lbs and I started at 280lbs. I have not once had an incident of sliming or PB like I hear others talk about. I can eat anything (bread, chicken, shrimp, steak, etc) I have no restrictions. Is this normal?

    Not sure what to do!!

We can go weeks without food but only days without adequate water/liquid, just FYI. (in case it happens again) so if you can't drink, you need an unfill PRONTO. OTherwise, you can be a little more conservative, and have a wait and see attitude...as long as you don't try to live that way ingesting only liquid.

    Frustrated!

I totally understand I went 2 weeks with no loss then I started eating more and weight started coming off again. Don't worry!

Help...same Food Every Day For A Week

Hello and congratulations on your decision to have the sleeve! I too had some regrets immediately post op...I had no idea what to expect regarding the pain along with the nausea that I experienced. I was on a liquid diet for 2 weeks post op and lived on shakes, cream soups from Medifast (15 g of protein) which I ordered online rather than joining and paying all of their membership fees. I am a type 2 diabetic and was diagnosed just one month pre-op. This made it even harder to choose foods that were appropriate for my diet, especially during the "soft" or "mushy" phase. My strangest craving during the first 2 weeks was pickle juice! I proudly drank it out of a shot glass and followed it with iced tea with splenda. Good luck to you and hang in there. I finally felt like I could eat enough to enjoy a variety of foods at around 5 weeks post op. It does get better!

Just over two weeks post op.

It has been an exciting time for me with all of the life changing events we have experienced in the last 4 weeks. We retired from the military, bought a house, got a great civilian job, went on a 10 day vacation and GOT BANDED!!! Since starting on the pre-op diet and then having surgery I have lost 27 lbs. and have dropped two pant sizes. I put up my clothes when I got too big for them last year and said when I get surgery I'll be able to wear them. It has only been 2 and a half weeks and I have waited TOO long for someof them. I skipped right past them. I am not complaing, just observing. God has blessed us in so many ways and the best one is that I feel I am getting my health back. We are doing 3-4 miles per day and the doctor said I can start to lift again this week if I take it easy...no crunches. I haven't eaten perfectly, but my husband said I am eating very little, but I feel like a pig. I was able to put on my D.H.'s ACU (Army uniform) shirt and zip it up. IT IS A SMALL!!!! The pants can't even go to my thighs yet...but they will someday!
  15. Hello all, I have for the past month or so been researching lapband (mainly on this site) and have posted on a few threads already. All my life I have been overweight and finally have "accepted" who I am. I am currently happy with who I am but not nececarily my weight. I have found many very encouraging posts and alot of feedback on all the questions that I have had so far. I, last week, found out my pre-op, surgery and post-op would be covered with the ok from the doctor by ND BCBS. There still will be a $1250.00 deductible but since I recently (this year) had surgery on my thumb I think that I have paid for most of it. I am assuming that ND BCBS will cover fills but is that what the insurance co. means by post-op? Being a student 1250 is still out of reach. With the medical bills that I have been receving from my surgery I am running out of cash. That was until five minutes ago when I went to go get a financial aid check (which is usually around 500 and just barely covers my books). I have recieved enough financial aid to not only pay off tuition for the rest of the semester I will also have excess to help pay off my surgery!!!!! My heart is racing about 1000 beats a minute because I am excited. I am at the same time terrified of what might happen if I do get the surgery. Am I wanting this surgery not because I am truly wanting to change my life but because I can afford it? Im really confused. At times I know that I can go through with the surgery and change my lifestyle while at other times I am lost and confused about not being able to control myself when it comes to food...well when it comes to carbonation. Carbonation is my biggest and whats scary is the only concern I have for getting lapband done. All my life I have tried (with numerous failures) too keep jesus christ in my heart and daily life. I see this as an opportunity that God has given me but I know that he really wants me to succeed. My parents are really pushing for this surgery, they want me to live and lead a healthy life. Don't get me wrong this is great. I absolutely love the support but at the same time this was not my idea to begin with so how do I know im not just doing it for them?:help: I was diagnosed with depression and ADHD when I was in the second grade. I have had many up as well as downs with my depression and ADHD. After four years of going with out medication I entered college in the Fall of '05. In the spring I was seeing a doctor who was giving me medications for both (cymbalta and welbutrin for depression and concerta for adhd) and they are amazing. The problem is they are mostly time released and cannot be supplimented! Will this be a problem when I have lapband? **off the topic question** For the past three weeks I have been unable to take my meds because I have an OD of meds since I am also on pain killers. I already have a hard time taking meds and to add to it I feel as if I have food poisioning when I take my concerta, cymbalta and welbutrin XL with darvaset. To add to it the surgeon has placed me on cephalexin (an antibiotic) because I may have developed an infection at the site of the pin in my thumb. Any suggestions? I am having a hard time with my mood since I have been off my meds but I really cant function with the pain. I have talked to the doctor and all he recommened was to take them at different times (which I told him I was already doing) and he didnt have any more suggestions. **back on topic** I am becomming overwhelmed with the idea of lapband as well as life and im not sure which is more consuming of my thoughts. everytime i see or think about food i think about life with the lapband and all that comes to mind are positive thoughts, not "o im not going to be able to eat it" but they are "i just wont be able to eat alot of it or i could live with out it" well i have class so i have to take off. Is there anyone from grand forks? Amanda

    Forgot the basics

I am only 4 weeks out, and sometimes find myself forgetting I am sleeved and take too big of a bite, or forget to eat my snack. It's kinda weird sometimes.
  17. I took 6 weeks and needed it, not only for the physical healing, and for the retraining of the brain of how to eat on the clock and researching the best foods you can eat to succeed! And just get mentally prepared to live a different but better life!

    Shapewear/Binders

I wore a binder for about a week after surgery- it really helped keep me from moving in ways that would cause the incisions to hurt. I don't know if shapewear will help your body go back to where you want it. I bought some because some of my skin has gotten saggy as I've lost weight. I pretty much only wear it if I'm putting on something form-fitting. Krista

  23. Surgery is Tuesday and I cannot wait!! I had my final appointment with my surgeon today - it was the first time I've met him, and all I can say is "wow." He is the sleeve expert of the practice and so enthusiastic (and ridiculously handsome - as in makes McDreamy look like pond scum) and is sooo perfect for what I wanted in how he operates. He uses a size 40 bougie which I am thrilled about. I don't feel like I need the extra restriction with the smaller one, and I was worried about strictures and what not. The other surgeons I met with earlier were all old farts. I could tell they were not big advocates of the sleeve and could barely walk. I was always nervous about that. I mean, if you're so aged that walking is difficult and your hands shake, how should I trust your hands to not nick my liver, know what I mean? He explained that he leaves the lower part of the stomach a little wider to avoid a stricture where the muscle is the toughest to stretch and closes the top more narrow where the stretchier part of the stomach is. If I could have written my own surgery, this is how I would want it. I'm soooo sooo happy. And the BEST thing is that he told me I could eat!! Omgomgomgomg. The liquid diet has me sooo hungry. I was drooling over a piece of asparagus last night. He said because I've been dieting for months that it wasn't as big an issue and that if I was that hungry to go ahead and have a little something to eat, but that I should keep it to fruits and veggies. FINE by me, Doc!!!! I had a shake for Breakfast and dinner, but I did have a side salad for lunch. I cannot tell you how much better I feel just from being able to eat that little bit. Jury duty tomorrow, but they'll excuse me for the surgery. I just have to show up. I just found that out today and have been worried for weeks about it. Hope everyone is doing well.

    LOTS of post-op pain

Most people report little pain and quick recovery. Mine diminished gradually over 2 - 3 weeks. We each heal differently. Please let your Dr know you're hurting. Peace
